A Seraphim's Day Out
"Okay," Charlie walks out of Angel's room holding a piece of paper. "That's stuff for Angel. I've gotten down something for everyone except for—"
"Hi, Charlie!"
"Ah!" the Princess lets out a shout after getting startled by Hell's only seraphim resident. "Emmy?"
"Oh, I am so sorry," Emily covers her mouth. "I did not mean to frighten you."
"It's alright," Charlie reassures her. "So," she regains her composure. "Hey! It's my turn to go shopping tomorrow. Need anything?"
The Angel thought for a moment. "No! I'm good on the necessities," she then eyes the paper in the in the Hotel Owner's hand. "Perhaps I can join you?"
"Uh, I'm not sure that's a good idea," the blonde turns away, not wanting to look the seraphim in the eye.
"Why not? Charlie, I've been here for a while now and I just want to help," Emily then looks down. "And I also kinda want to see what Hell's like for myself. I mean, I am living here now," she looks up at the Princess with hopeful eyes.
Charlie finds it hard to decline those eyes but sighs regardless. "Emily, I would love to show you my home. But you're not ready for what's here." The Angel's wings droop at hearing that. "I'm sorry," the Princess puts a hand on the seraphim's shoulder. "Maybe next time we'll take you with us. Okay?"
At that, Emily nods.
"Thank you for understanding, Emmy," Charlie offers a small smile as she pockets the slip of paper.
Emily watches as the Owner of the Hotel rounds the corner before releasing a sigh. "This is just like when Sera kept me away at home," she then spots something on the ground. Picking up, the seraphim finds that it's the list. It must have fallen out of Charlie's pocket. "I should return this…" then the angel starts contemplating something. "Or?"
.oOo.
Later
Emily walks out of a store carrying some bags while checking off another item on the list. "Okay! That's Angel Dust's package," she then hums as the young woman examines the package. "Wonder what kind of toys these are. The shopkeeper said that I'll enjoy them myself."
"Hey, girly."
"Ah!" Emily lets out shout at the sudden voice. Turning she finds a small group of shark-like demons. "Oh, hello," the seraphim offers a friendly smile despite that they're making her feel uncomfortable for a strange reason.
One of the shark demons started walking up to her. "Never thought I'd see a pretty thing like you down here," he then eyes the small building that Emily just left. "Nor would I expect to see one leaving such a store."
"Oh?" the angel lifts the package to show them. "I was just picking something up for a friend."
"Well then," the demon stops in front of her unnerving the seraphim even more. "Perhaps we can check them out ourselves?"
A shiver runs down Emily's spine as the demon reaches for her. Young seraphim took a step back. "I don't think that's a goo…" she freezes while bumping into something. Looking up, she finds a larger shark demon standing over her.
"You see," the first demon smirks. "I don't take kindly to being told no," he snaps his fingers and Emily suddenly finds her mouth being covered as she gets grabbed by the larger demon.
The demons drag the seraphim down a nearby alley.
"This won't take long," the demon says while reaching for Emily's dress. But he immediately halts as a shout enters the alley.
"Stop!" standing at the end of the alley is the Queen of Hell herself. "Let her go!" she commands and the demons were compelled to do as they were told and their grasp on the angel loosened.
Emily was quick to rush over to hide behind the tall woman.
Lilith briefly glances at the young seraphim before turning a glare at the demons. "This young lady is a guest at the Hazbin Hotel. My daughter's hotel. By that extension, she's a guest of mine," The demon's eyes widen. The Queen takes a step towards them while placing a hand on Emily in a way to tell her to stay here. As soon as the woman was standing over them, she says, "An attack on my guest is an attack on me. Here's what you're going to do. All of you are going to go home and when you get there you…" the rest is said under her breath where the young angel is unable to hear. "Now," Lilith walks back over to Emily. "Leave!"
The demon's feet move on their own as the exit the alley.
Just to make sure that they leave, Lilith's gaze never left them until they were out of sight. Then she was suddenly tackled into a hug. Looking down, the Queen finds Emily starting to cry.
"Thank you, your majesty! I was so scared!" the seraphim looks up at her with remnants of fear in her eyes. "Wh-what were they going to do to me?"
Lilith blinks before offering a soft smile. "It's nothing that you'll need to worry about at the moment," she gently pushes the young seraphim back. "What were you doing here? Hell is no place for an Angel to be wondering out alone."
Emily looks down. "For as long as I could remember, Sera had always kept me cooped up at home. Then she suddenly let me out but never without her. I love the Hotel and I'm grateful to Charlie for letting me stay. But never being allowed to leave…" She pauses.
"It was starting to feel like what it was back in Heaven?" Lilith guessed and the nod from the seraphim confirms. The Queen puts her hand on Emily's back and starts leading her out of the alley. "Let's head back to the Hotel."
"Yeah. It's probably for the best," Emily agrees but suddenly remembers something. "Oh?" she rushes out of the alley and over to where the stuff she was carrying to gather it all. "I probably shouldn't return without these."
Lilith watched on as the angel picked everything up. "What is all this?"
"This?" the seraphim holds up some of the bags and a box. "It's the stuff on the shopping list. I thought while I was out I'd get everything."
While this was being explained, the Queen accepted the box and peeked inside. Her eyes widen briefly before regaining her composure. She closed the box but did not return it. "Have you gotten everything?"
"No!" Emily shakes her head. "But it's probably best to let Charlie handle the rest," she looks down slightly upset.
Lilith holds out her hand to the young seraphim. "May I see the list?" Emily blinks before passing the slip of paper to the Queen. The tall woman briefly examines the list before glancing over at the angel. "There's not much left here. It shouldn't take too long to finish it off," she starts walking off in the opposite direction of the Hotel. "Come on, Emily!"
"Uh? Yes, your majesty!" and the seraphim starts following the Queen of Hell.
.oOo.
As soon as Emily and Lilith entered the Hotel, the seraphim is tackled into a hug.
"Emmy!?" Charlie shouts. "We were so worried about you!" she then pushes the angel away. "What were you thinking!? Leaving the Hotel without telling anyone!?"
At that question, Emily looks down. "I spent a good deal of my life being cooped up at home before Sera let me go outside with her. I, uh, just didn't want to do that here. So, after I found the list, instead of returning it I decided to take it as my chance to go out and actually see Hell for myself," she looks up. "Sorry."
Charlie smiles and hugs the angel again. "I'm just glad you're alright. So…" she breaks apart. "How was your first actual day in Hell?"
"It was mostly fine. It is scary on the surface but not everything is bad," the seraphim explained. "The food tastes great, I enjoyed most of the sights. And aside from the looks that most everyone had given me, not many people actually bothered me," she then glances over at Lilith. "Except for one incident. Luckily for me, your mom was there."
The Queen smiles. "I was merely in the right place at the right time," the smile drops. "The next time you go out I suggest it be with someone else. At least until you get used to everything. I would also recommend getting a phone, so that you can contact someone for help if needed. Now, why don't you go on? I would like to a moment with my daughter."
"Yes, your majesty," Emily bows. "And again. Thank you," she then reaches for the package that the Queen had carried since saving the young woman. "I should probably give everyone their stuff. I'm sure Angel is going to want…"
Lilith just moved her hands out of Emily's reach. "I'll make sure he gets it."
"O…kay?" with that, the angel leaves the two.
"Mom?" Charlie turns to the Queen. "What ha—" she's cut off as her mother hugs her.
"The day I spent with Emily just reminded me of the time I lost being away from you," Lilith confesses. "I missed having days like that between the two of us," she breaks away. "How about when you have some free time, you and I have a mother daughter day? Just you and me?" the taller woman smiles hopefully.
The Princess smiles herself. "I'd love that, Mom. I'm sure Vaggie wouldn't mind having Celest to herself for a couple hours."
Lilith nods before handing the small box over to Charlie. "I'm sure your friend, Angel Dust will be wanting this."
Charlie accepts the package and starts opening it. "What is…" she stops at the sight of what's inside and her face starts turning red and slowly starts closing the box.
.oOo.
Later
Charlie walks out of Angel's room with her face partially covered. "You're welcome, Angel!" she shouts before closing the door. "I really need to put a restriction on what everyone's allowed to have someone else pick up for them."
Emily then walks around the corner. "Hey, Charlie!" she runs up to the Princess. "I came to check and see if Angel got his package. I hope he enjoys it," the seraphim goes to step around the Hotel Owner only to have her step in front of her again.
"Oh, I'm sure he will," Charlie gives the angel an awkward smile before leading her away from the room the princess had just left. "So how was spending a day with my mom?"
At that, the seraphim smiles. "It was great! If what I feel is what it's like to have a mom, I wish I had one."
"That's right," Charlie holds her chin in thought. "Seraphims weren't born. So, you don't have a family outside of Sera?"
"Nope!" Emily then thought. "Well? I guess technically the other seraphim would be my siblings as well in a way. But I've never been as close to them as I was with Sera," she is suddenly saddened. "I know that she hasn't made the best decisions, but she's still my sister and pretty much the only family I have." A set of arms is wrapped around her.
"Don't worry, Emmy," Charlie tells the angel. "I'm sure things will work out between you. And if not? You have a family down here. In us."
Emily blinks before smiling and returning the hug. "Thanks, Charlie. I needed that."
