Chapter 1: The New Island

Two centuries later, a ship was sailing through the sea. This ship held a crew of 50, and several hundred passengers. They had no set destination, but they were looking for something: A new home.

The bones of the Boiling Isles had become far more fragile and brittle. Everyone did their best to repair the damage but it became too much and too often.

Three ships left in three different directions in order to search for a new place to live, an uninhabited island they could colonise. This one was under the command of Captain Korin.

A valiant and courageous traveler, Korin has been exploring the far corners of the world for most of his life. He does many things that most people would deem too treacherous to attempt. This was one of many factors which led to the crew choosing him as their captain.

Korin stood at the front of the ship, staring out into sea. He saw something in the distance but he wasn't sure what it was yet.

He tapped the ground with his staff and the ship altered its course to take them there.

Korin called out to his crew, informing them that they were changing direction in the hopes that this mysterious object could be an inhabitable region of the world.

As they drew closer, everyone on board could see that the distant object was in fact an island, one that seemed completely uninhabited.

Korin commanded the ship to make a slow approach to the shore. They realised that it was the body of a titan. Nobody ever knew there was an uninhabited titan corpse out here.

The crew stared in awe at the monumental skeleton.

The ship stopped at the leg of the titan, and everyone started to depart. Korin stood in front of them.

"Wait. We don't know if this place is safe yet. We must make sure before we settle here."

He had a feeling that something was off about this place...

Day 1

The crew had their staffs out, ready for anything. Some of them went to scout the area, while others stayed and started gathering supplies from ship storage.

There were a few small bugs crawling around the bones of the island, but other than that it seemed to be barren of life.

Korin and the scouts were still searching for any danger, when they noticed how damaged the Titan's right arm was.

"How did that happen?" inquired Alene, a descendant of Terra Snapdragon.

Korin shook his head. "Not sure. Looks like something shot through it... but what?"

"A meteorite maybe? The history books did speak of a large object hitting our world a couple hundred years ago. That could have been what killed this titan."

It was beginning to grow darker. Several of the crew members were gathered near the ship, watching the sun set. It was truly a remarkable sight, the way the light hit the corpse, how the grotesque image of a decaying corpse could seem so beautiful here.

However, they were not the only ones admiring this view...

Three insects sat on top of the Titan's skull, observing the newcomers. Their bodies started to morph into the form of three witches. They looked at each other, and nodded.

"There are more of them. We cannot sit idly by and allow them to take over."

"What should we do then?"

It looked over to the large group of witches, beginning to set up shelter on the island.

"We will wait. Let them think they're safe for a while. Right now they are not fully convinced that they are alone here. They are prepared for an attack. So we give them time to settle down, and then we wipe them out."

The other two nodded, but one looked slightly disturbed.

"I don't suppose there's any way we can reason with them? Like, ask them nicely to leave our island?"

"I wouldn't expect them to listen. Anyway, that's not our way."

They transformed back into insects and started to move closer.
