BRANCH-2016:
"Almost ten years ago, an event dubbed a Crisis took place. Our beloved Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, was killed during the means to save the world. Thousands of people have gone missing since the convergence of thousands of worlds into one. Our world was met with new threats from thousands of other worlds."
People began to protest the Justice League from the moment of its formation in this strange new world.
"The DEO and Justice League seemed to have no way of stopping all of these new threats that appeared after what had occurred. Many new threats remained hidden in plain sight. When Iron Spider and Supergirl were both killed by one of these threats, the Justice League and DEO's activities were outlawed. However, in the darkness, there is always hope."
"We live in a world on the cutting edge. As mankind evolves, so too does the danger it faces. For years, we have been protecting America in secret. Now, we want you to know that you are in good hands." George Tarleton narrates.
Then, a few yellow and oddly shaped drones came flying in and aimed with some taser-shaped weapons. Cars with a strange hexagon logo approached the screen.
"George Tarleton, founder and leader of Advanced Idea Mechanics, has discovered a method for neutralizing the threats posed by metahumans, aliens, and anyone else who may pose a danger to the world."
"Here at A.I.M., we are working to make the world a safer place," George Tarlton says to the camera. "We are working on a way to cure these people, and anyone who poses a threat will be dealt with accordingly."
"Yeah, by any means necessary," Peter Parker scoffed as he turned off the television.
It has been almost ten years since the heroes faced a Crisis on Infinite Earth, a battle they barely survived. When they awoke in this unfamiliar world, it seemed as though the city had suddenly turned against them and their allies. Many changes had occurred, and it seemed as though the world had abandoned the values that the heroes stood for, instead embracing A.I.M.
The team also had to scatter with the news, and none of them have been in much contact with each other since then. Some of them just wanted to go and live normal lives with this newfound freedom. However, there were a few who believed that there was something wrong with A.I.M. They didn't think A.I.M. was trying to help people but rather exploited them for their abilities.
That was what Kara and Peter thought when they went to confront this George Tarlton, but never got the chance. They were met by a new enemy that came out of the blue and murdered them. Or extinguished them, as there weren't even any bodies left over from their deaths.
With their deaths, and the rise of A.I.M., Peter and Caitlin knew that they were going to start searching for people with abilities. In order to protect themselves and their children, they needed to make special power-dampening technology to keep A.I.M. from discovering their powers. Frost wasn't exactly entirely happy about it, since it meant that she would need to literally disappear, but they tried to let her out when they could. However, they were lucky if they were able to let Frost out more than once a month.
Barry and Patty did the same for them and their daughter Dawn, as they were the only other people staying in the state where A.I.M. was active. Frankie and Miles both left the state for college, but they hadn't had much contact due to the A.I.M. laws put into place. No outside-of-state communication, as they were trying to draw the heroes out of hiding even years later.
Peter suddenly felt his senses tingle and became curious about what was happening. He typically wore a bracelet to suppress his powers, but he didn't wear it while at home. To keep an eye out for his children and A.I.M., he utilized his abilities. His spider-sense alerted him when something was amiss with the dampener, indicating that A.I.M. was scanning the vicinity.
"Oh, no," Peter exclaimed in shock.
Peter hurried down the hallway towards the children's room. Upon opening the door, Caitlin appeared from their bedroom and noticed his concerned expression. Upon entering the bedroom, he saw Tina curled up on the ceiling, sleeping soundly. However, this sight only terrified Peter further because it meant that his daughter was using her powers.
"Oh, no!" Caitlin started to panic as she saw her daughter. "She's using her powers."
"A.I.M. might be scanning the area," Peter confirmed, worry evident on his face. He quickly leaped onto the ceiling and cradled Tina in his arms. "Tina, wake up, sweetie."
Tina moaned as she lay resting peacefully until she was abruptly awakened by her father's voice. "Daddy?"
"You can't keep doing this, Tina," Peter told her, worried that A.I.M. would eventually come for them both.
"There...there was something under the bed," Tina explained as she curled up in her father's chest. "I was just coming down."
"Uh-oh," Caitlin said, seeing that her power dampener had been broken. "What have we told you, Tina?" She asks as she cradles her child close. "Do you want the bad men to come and take you away?"
"I'm sorry, okay?!" Tina screamed in fear and tiredness. "Stop trying to scare me! I didn't mean to do it! I thought I saw a shadow or something, so-"
"Hey, listen." Peter took his daughter's hand. "As long as me and your mother are here, nobody is going to hurt you." He however sighed when he saw her dampener was broken. "I gotta get this fixed, they will be able to locate her if she uses her powers without it."
"How long will that take?" Caitlin asks.
"I'll swing by CCPD, have Barry take a look, and see if he can help us with the parts," Peter said in worry.
"I don't like it when you have to go there," Caitlin said in worry.
Once, the police station was somewhere that they could freely walk in without fear. Because they knew that the police always had their backs, even without them knowing who they were. But ever since A.I.M. came and practically declared Martial Law on the City, things have changed everywhere. Metahumans and anyone super-powered are outlaws. The police had been sworn to either agree with the matter or to be discharged from the force. And since then, Joe West retired, and now some new girl named Kristen Kramer.
"It's safe for me as long as I wear my dampener," Peter assured her.
CHAPTER 2 : RENEW YOUR VOWS
The next day, Caitlin and Peter were walking their kids to school since they still hadn't exactly registered for a car. The last car they had was confiscated by A.I.M. when they took STAR Labs from the group. That is, they took it after they blew up a few fractions so that they couldn't find out anything that could lead back to the group or anyone who worked there.
The team scattered and knew they needed to hide until the day came when they could legitimately take down A.I.M. But with the Superfamily missing, the job was a lot harder. And with them and their friends not able to use their powers, there was almost no way to find out anything that could stick to these monsters.
Walking down the street itself has been a choir since there were now dozens of robots wandering the streets. There were also dozens of robots hovering and scanning everything in sight, which was what made it difficult for them to get the kids to school. They couldn't risk Tina getting scanned or spotted by the A.I.M. drones and getting taken away.
"You'll stop by CCPD, right?" Caitlin asks as they come to the crossroads between the school and CCPD.
"I'll bring the dampener to Barry and hope he can fix it," Peter promises. "Beforehand, just make sure that she knows not to use her powers."
"Right. Convince a kid who takes after her father not to use the one thing that helps her help others." Caitlin sighed and kissed him goodbye. "Do you think Dawn will be there?"
"Should be, Patty is dropping her." Peter figured as much.
"Alright, I might go get some coffee with her afterward," Caitlin said as they separated.
Caitlin sighed as she approached the school, hand in hand with the twins. They were just about to approach the school that was just across the street when Tommy stopped.
"Mommy, can you just watch us from here?" Tommy asks her.
Caitlin chuckled and figured this was something she had been expecting eventually. "Why? Because none of the other moms are doing it?"
"Well, yeah," Tommy confessed.
Caitlin sighed and noticed Patty at the street corner. "You don't want to stand out?" She then looked to Tina and knew she needed to get this across. "Remember that. We are trying to do our best so that we can stay out of the spotlight so that these A.I.M. monsters leave our family alone. Even if you see someone getting bullied or getting hurt, don't use your powers. It might feel like the right thing to do, but trust me, it isn't."
"But..."
"No," Caitlin said. "Things aren't always what they appear to be. Especially for those of us who are different." Caitlin was sorry to have to say something like that, but it needed to be said. "You need to be careful."
Tina nodded, even though she hated it. "Okay..."
Caitlin was happy to see that Tina at least understood what to do. "Okay, have a good day."
Tina and Tommy raced toward the front of the school where Dawn was waiting for them. The three of them walked up to the school door and made their way to class. Caitlin sighed in relief that A.I.M. didn't have any reason to scan the schools while they were open.
Caitlin made her way toward Patty and was happy to see her. "They didn't want you to walk them in either?" Patty asks.
"No, I'm not the cool mom anymore," she said sadly.
"Some coffee cheer you up?" Patty offered. "I'll pay."
"Thanks, but we can afford it," Caitlin said as she and Patty walked away to get coffee.
Peter basically kept his head down as he made his way into CCPD. Since it was on his way to work, he figured he'd drop it off with Barry first before going to work. Passing through the metahuman and mutant scanners, he has cleared thanks to the fact that the dampeners camouflaged his DNA to pass as human.
"If you see something, report something. Meta-humans are a threat; report any sightings."
A repeating recording kept playing over and over again in the elevator. Peter was disgusted by the fact that now all metahumans were being labeled as criminals. Once there was a time when everyone was innocent until they were proven guilty. But now, anyone who was a Metahuman, even if you were an upstanding citizen, you were labeled as a monster and a threat.
Peter made his way up to the crime lab and saw that Barry was hard at work; he looked like he was almost overwhelmed. Before A.I.M., they didn't even need to worry because Barry could slow down time and get things done quickly. But now, A.I.M. keeps dampeners on at all times so nobody can sneak in with powers.
Except of course for the Sinister Six.
Peter's gang of enemies was turned into the "heroes" of A.I.M. They claimed that they reformed the criminals and gave them abilities so they could hunt down any Metahuman. This was the final straw that caused the team to go into hiding because they didn't want to put their kids in danger.
Shocker - Herman Schultz, also known as Shocker, is one of the many villains Spider-Man has encountered during his career as the masked vigilante. He was once a bank robber who frequently crossed paths with the Webhead, eventually getting arrested and released on parole at a later date. One of their earliest encounters resulted in Spider-Man becoming infamous within the Daily Bugle for their destructive battle that severely damaged the city. The battle taught Peter Parker the importance of avoiding fights that could endanger civilians.
Weather Witch - On the night of the Enlightenment, Joss Jackam's weather van was struck by the S.T.A.R. Labs satellite. A component of the van was transformed into a meta-tech staff with the ability to control the weather, similar to her father and uncle's powers. She would later attack a power plant in her plan to kill her dad and break into Iron Heights to kill him, but the Flash intervened and took Mardon away. She demanded him to be brought to her. She was tricked by Team Flash into dropping a truck on a hologram of Peter, who was impersonating her dad. She planned to destroy the whole of Central City but was stopped by Metallica who used her metal powers to mess with her tech. She was then incarcerated in Iron Heights, with her staff being stored away within the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. That is until A.I.M. located and returned it, allowing her to do her criminal deeds in peace.
Originally a scientist at Mercury Labs in Central City, Brie Larvan was fired from her job when she began to experiment with weaponizing the robotic bees she had developed for agricultural use. Furious that her life's work would be dismissed so easily, Larvan continued to produce millions of her bee-like robots, outfitting each of them with the same poison found in real bees, only at a much more lethal level to humans. A.I.M. has been using her technology to create their drones and make them functional.
Kraven the Hunter - The man who has made it his life's mission to hunt the biggest game and prove himself to be the ultimate predator. He has not been seen since A.I.M. recruited him.
Chillblaine - As a nine-year-old boy, Mark Blaine fell into freezing ice water during a skiing accident, resulting in him being submerged for 15 minutes before being revived. This near-death experience left him obsessed with cold and ice.
In his adulthood, Blaine worked for Ivo Labs in cryogenics. However, they fired him after he had conducted unethical experiments using their technology. After his termination, Blaine became a criminal. Years later, he had an encounter with Goldface and knocked over his operation. Later, he saw the work of Killer Frost and became obsessed, seeking to gain her powers. Eventually, he designed a pair of gauntlets with nanotechnology, using them to replicate meta-human powers.
Scorpion - Mac Gargan was turned into the deadly mechanical criminal known as Scorpion after an experiment bankrolled by J. Jonah Jameson. As Scorpion, he has gone on to be wanted for numerous counts of criminal activities such as attempted murder, first-degree murder, robbery, and kidnapping.
"Hey, Barry," Peter greeted as he approached the guy.
"Hey, man," Barry sighed as he closed the file he was working on and tossed it. He groaned and lay back in his chair in complete and utter agony. "I miss my super speed."
"I know how you feel. I can't remember the last time I walked around Central City without running into A.I.M.," Peter sighed as he leaned against his desk. "Unfortunately, I didn't come for a social call." He then pulled out the dampener and showed it to Barry. "Tina fractured her dampener."
Barry sighed as he took the device and looked it over. "Yeah, figured. Something similar happened to Dawn. It phased right off of her." He then looked it over and saw it was crushed. "It's like their powers are almost stronger than these dampeners."
"Yes, likely because they were born rather than given them like we were," Peter nodded, but he agreed. "But why does it keep happening?"
Barry said, "They're stronger than we figured." He took a single guess. "I wouldn't be surprised if Tommy stops working soon."
"Well, we still need to get them functional again," Peter sighed. Then he looked over to the cabinet where Barry kept his Flash suit. "Do you miss it?"
Barry looked toward the locker and knew what he was thinking. "Every day."
"I wish we could go back out there," Peter sighed as he reached into his suit pocket and pulled out his Spider-Man suit. Of course, this was an upgraded suit designed to keep A.I.M. at bay, but he missed being a hero. He missed helping people. "But with A.I.M. out there, it's impossible."
"Barry, the captain wants the reports on the Meises twins done by lunch," Yuriko Watanabe said as she walked in. "Hey, Peter."
"Hey, Yuri," Peter greeted her. "Anything new?"
"It just seems like the police are becoming more and more like lapdogs for A.I.M.," Yuri said casually, but both of them could hear the anger in her voice. "I remember a day when this city was free, and people were innocent until they committed a crime. Now, if you can spark a lightbulb, or even levitate slightly, you're a menace." She sighed as she looked at the two. "I miss the heroes. They'd probably know how to stop them."
"Well, A.I.M. hasn't done anything illegal," Peter said, even Matthew Murdock couldn't find a legal way to kill the organization.
"We just need to wait it out and hope they eventually leave us alone," Barry told them.
"It's been five years, Barry," Yuri sighed as she made her way out. "They're not going anywhere."
Peter and Barry were sorry to say, they knew she was right. And the most likely reason for it was because they had never caught the biggest fish in the metahuman world, the two of them. Spider-Man and Flash would be like catching Moby Dick. There was also another one of their crew that would be a big catch, but Crystal had been incognito since that day years ago.
7 YEARS AGO:
Peter thought back to the day when he, May, Miles, Frankie, Barry, Joe, Cecil, and Patty had said goodbye to Crystal Frost. With A.I.M. spreading throughout the world, they needed to start taking precautions; wherever they went, the heroes seemed to suddenly disappear. They all agreed to wear power dampeners to keep themselves and their families safe from the industry. They were using some scanning technology in random places at random times that the DEO used to detect threats. Now they are using it to detect the metahuman genome in everyone.
Peter looked down at the power dampener he needed to place on Frost. "Are you sure about this, Crystal?" He asked. "If you do this, Caitlin won't hear you anymore. You won't be able to come out ever again. Or see our kids growing up."
Crystal sighed, admitting her fear. "I don't want to, Spidey, but I have to. This is the only way to keep our family safe from A.I.M. If they find our kids, they'll do some twisted experiments on them. And there's no way in hell that I'm going to let that happen."
"We can hide you, Peter, and the kids somewhere while we figure this out." May tried to offer a solution.
"Yeah, I'm already working with Matt to build a case against A.I.M." Cecile offered some encouragement.
Crystal scoffed, indicating she wasn't okay with that. "Right, then we could spend the rest of our lives running. No, Central City is my home, and I'm not just gonna leave my friends and family behind hiding from A.I.M. We need to face this together. And even if I'm not there, you have to keep fighting."
She hugged everyone in the room, and some of them had tears in their eyes. As Crystal looked over at Frankie, she walked over and hugged her.
"I'm proud of you, kid," said Crystal. "You've grown into a beautiful young woman. I hope you find someone who will make you truly happy."
Frankie teared up a little as she hugged her. "I love you, Aunt Frost."
She walked toward Peter and kissed him one last time. He embraced her in sorrow, knowing that this might be their final parting.
"I love you," she said.
Peter sighed, realizing this would be nearly impossible for him. "I love you too."
Peter was sorry he had to do this as he then put the necklace, the one he once used to dampen Caitlin's powers during the Savitar incident around her neck. As the dampener began to hum to life, Crystal looked and noticed her powers slowly fading and her grip on control kept slipping.
Crystal sighed as tears kept flowing. "Goodbye, Caity."
The dampener reached her head and Crystal transformed back into Caitlin. Caitlin was now letting the tears flow as she knew there was nothing, they could do to help Crystal right now.
"Goodbye, Crystal." Caitlin whimpered.
Peter and Caitlin tearfully hugged each other. That went for Miles and Frankie, Joe and Cecile, May and Wells, and finally, Barry and Patty. Everyone was sorry they had to do this, but it was Crystal's choice. She'd instead let Caitlin raise her children than allow them to grow up without ever knowing her.
Following their most recent meeting, the team decided to disband and go into hiding to evade potential capture by A.I.M. Each member of the team has scattered to various locations across the country, taking necessary precautions to ensure their safety and anonymity. The decision to go into hiding was not taken lightly but was deemed necessary to protect themselves and their mission from any further risks or threats.
Yuri was making her way around the place when she suddenly noticed that a few new crates were being brought into the armory. She was confused about what was going on as she entered the room and saw what she had most feared. When she picked up one of the weapons, she opened the ammo container and realized what was inside them.
Yuri whispered in shock, "That's the metahuman cure."
"Find what you're looking for?" Kramer asks, causing Yuri to jump and face her.
"These bullets contain that Metahuman cure, don't they?" Yuri wonders if she would even try and hide it.
"30 CCs each, yes." Kramer upright confirmed.
Yuri was shocked to see the police captain use that cure as a weapon. "This was never meant to be used this way. It was said that nobody would be forced to take it."
"Metahumans are a threat to the public, A.I.M. distributed these weapons to help us de-escalate the situation," Kramer explains to her.
"This is illegal," Yuri stated.
"No, there's just no precedent for them...yet," Kramer explains to Yuri.
"There has to be a better way than making everyone in this city a living threat." Yuri was shocked to find this was what the police station had become. "You're not helping to try to help this city get rid of A.I.M., you're basically handing them the keys to the department."
"Metahumans are dangerous, Detective," Kramer says. "The people of this city need to see the way A.I.M. operates is working. They have to be stopped."
"You took an oath to protect the people, but you're basically demanding that we hurt half of the population and thank our kidnappers," Yuri stated in anger. "Now you want us to go out there and shoot random civilians with a cure?"
Kramer explains, "When it comes to metahuman affairs, I have full authority to use extreme measures in emergency situations."
"This isn't right," Yuri stated in anger. "A.I.M. can't be trusted."
Kramer didn't say anything as Yuri scoffed and marched past her. She sighed and made a quick phone call when she left.
"You are not going to believe this," Yuri told her contact.
While Barry worked on the dampener, he had some free time and looked over to see Peter pacing. He was still worried that Tina might do something that could put her in A.I.M.'s crosshairs.
"You know, she's a smart kid, right? She won't do anything too crazy." Barry tried to ease him.
"Did you think the same thing when Dawn phased out of her dampener?" Peter asks.
Barry sighed and couldn't argue with that. "Fair enough."
And that's when the radio went off, and both of their hearts stopped. "All units, we have reports of metahuman activity at Central City Elementary School."
Peter looked at Barry; they both had the same thought in mind – their kids had used their powers and would now be on A.I.M.'s radar. They immediately got to work as Peter ripped off his suit and revealed his Spider-Man suit underneath. He pushed a button on his belt and activated his Velocity Suit capability he added to it a while ago. Barry was quick to get into his outfit and they both sped down the streets toward the school.
But as it turned out, it wasn't any of their kids, but a new girl who was from out of town. Tina, Dawn, and Tommy were in the playground when the attack happened; it was more like when the incident occurred. One of the students, Cessily Kincaid, had activated her metahuman powers in public. She didn't know what was happening and was screaming out for help.
Everyone else ran away from her, except for Tina, Dawn, and Tommy, who wished that they could help her. She wasn't sure how to control her powers, and her body seemed to be turning into liquid mercury. The Skitter Six had already arrived, and we were all trying to take the kid into custody, but it was difficult, even though she couldn't control it, didn't mean she couldn't use her powers.
"Watch it, kid!" Joslyn cried as she used her staff to freeze a trail of liquid mercury coming at her. "Come quietly, and this will be over much faster."
"I'm not coming with you!" Cessily cried as she shoved her hands, creating two blasts of mercury to shoot at them. "I'm not a monster!"
Chillblaine entered the room and fired his glove-mounted ice projectiles at her. With the aid of his gadgetry, he was able to freeze the entire girl within seconds. Cessily was frozen solid, unable to defend herself or fight back.
"Well, that was easy," Mark said as he stopped and knocked on the statue. "Tag and bagged."
"You have no sport for the hunt, Chillblaine," Kraven snarled as he approached him. "You make it too easy. You don't play with your prey."
"That's a strange way of saying that I get the job done quickly," Mark quipped sarcastically.
That's when a drone beeped, alerting them that something was approaching. Brie was surprised when she got a look at the readings and was shocked.
Brie warned the group, "Uh, this battle may not be over just yet. We've got two scans coming in fast."
They all seemed to have the same idea about who exactly that could be. Two strands of webbing surrounded Mac as he was confused as to what was happening. That's when Barry came speeding in, just before Peter tackled Scorpion. Barry sped in as fast as he could, and punched Kraven before the Hunter even knew what had happened.
Barry wasn't fast enough as Shocker aimed his gauntlets and shot him. It seemed like the lack of using his speed in the past few years hadn't helped him. Peter was also a little rusty as he tried to help Barry, but his senses alerted him a little too late, and he was blasted by Chillblaine.
Peter rolled down the slide and slammed his head into it on the playground. "Ow!" He then got a good look at Chillblaine and was a little confused. "Uh...did I hit my head or is this guy not wearing a shirt?"
"Wow, not even Spider-Man seems to understand that fashion choice," Joslyn commented with a laugh.
"Well, look who we have here!" Herman gloated as he used his gauntlets to keep the speedster down. "The Scarlet Speedster, and the Scarlet Spider! Been a long time since you both showed your faces!"
"Sadly, this is the last time we will see it," Josely said as she summoned a bolt of lightning. "Let's end this!"
Then Joslyn sent the bolt of lightning down to strike Barry in a shot of poetic irony to kill him. But that's when Dawn realized that time was beginning to slow down for her. She didn't even realize she was doing it until the lightning bolt was just a few feet away from her own father's chest.
Reacting to this newfound feeling, Dawn ran down the playground and made her way toward Herman. She then pushed him with all of her power and sent him flying. As time returned to normal, Herman continued to fly and smashed into Chillblaine at the speed he had been traveling.
"What the hell?" Mac asked as he looked over toward the girl. "That girl has super speed."
Barry was shocked when he realized his daughter had just revealed her true power. "Dawn," he scrambled to try and get to his feet, knowing this wouldn't end well. "Run!"
Dawn just decided to listen to her dad and sped off down the street, struggling to control her speed. Joselyn tried to strike her with a bolt of lightning, but Peter webbed the staff out of her hands.
"No, no!" Peter exclaimed as he used the staff to smack Mark and send him skidding. "This is not happening!"
Tina was shocked to see her father fighting back and how powerful he was. "Daddy?"
"He's awesome!" Tommy cheered on his father.
Caitlin and Patty ran onto the school grounds and saw everything going on; they knew that something was bound to happen unless they stepped in. Patty ran inside and found that Dawn had escaped, meaning she got away. They admitted that this reminded them of their old times when they would pull stunts like this weekly.
Patty said, "It feels like old times," as she grabbed Tommy.
Caitlin said, her voice shaking. "With a few new and dangerous twists!" She grabbed Tina's hand. "Come on, kids. We've gotta get out of here."
Tina asked, "But what about Dad?"
She says, "He'll be fine."
"But..."
"No! One more word out of either of you, and you're both grounded," Caitlin warned them both.
Cessily was able to escape as she made her way down a drainpipe to get out of the area while they were distracted by the hero's return. Barry ran around Mac as he tried to stab Barry with his poisonous venom from his tail, but Barry was too fast for him to catch.
Herman then aimed a gauntlet towards where Barry was circling, and it was caught by Peter, who knew what he needed to do. He shot out two webbing to grab his gauntlets and yanked them towards Kraven. When he fired, they sent the Hunter flying across the school grounds and Barry finished Mac off with a punch in the jaw.
Peter said, "We've got to get out of here."
Barry nodded; he needed to see if he could find where Dawn had gone and punch some drones so Brie couldn't track or find them. He ran through the city as fast as he could until he made his way out to the highway and found his daughter screaming, her jacket catching on fire in the process. Barry quickly acted by grabbing his kid and running his way back home to help her.
Meanwhile, while they were fighting, someone was watching from a window in the school. A young girl with short light brown hair with a few white highlighted streaks at the end of it watched everything.
She took a few steps back and pulled out her phone. It had been upgraded so that no one from A.I.M. could hack it. "Mom," she said, "it happened. They're back."
Peter made his way home and sighed as he grabbed the twins. He was relieved to see they were okay. Caitlin sighed as she looked over his Spider-Man suit and had to admit it looked a lot different than the old one.
"I blew it." Peter asked, "Didn't I?"
"A little," said Caitlin. "But now they know that you're still out there."
"They won't stop coming for us," said Peter, looking down at the twins.
Tommy asked, "Daddy, what do you mean?"
"Daddy, you're scaring us," Tina said.
"We've gotta run," Peter explained. "We have to pack everything and leave quickly."
Caitlin sighed, knowing that wasn't an option. "No, that's...that's not an option." She knew that leaving wouldn't do them any good; A.I.M. would only become suspicious. "That'll draw too much attention. And we both know there is no real running from A.I.M."
"Then what do we do?" Peter asks.
Caitlin sighed as she walked over and sat on the couch. "This isn't going to end well, is it? No matter where we go or what we do?"
Peter nodded as he sighed and joined her on the couch. "Not likely."
"You need to go back out there." Caitlin guessed. She then reached up and caressed her necklace. She knew if she ripped it off, by this point Crystal should immediately appear due to the anxiety she is feeling. "Maybe..."
"No." Peter immediately stopped her from taking off her necklace. "If we play our cards right, maybe A.I.M. will start to leave us alone. They-"
"Peter," Caitlin said. "They aren't going to drop it just because you disappeared for ten years. You disappeared. But now you're back. You're going to start inspiring other metahumans again. It's what you've always done."
Peter sighed as he dropped his head into his hands in despair.
"We have to do this," Caitlin whispered.
"I am just worried about what will come next," Peter whispered.
At their base of operations, Mark was wincing and placing an ice pack on the injuries that he had sustained during their battle. He lightly tapped it against his hip to try and ease the pain.
"Hey, how come we don't get any doctors?" Mark wondered.
"Doctors only remove injuries from the injured. Wounds that unveil the strongest in the pack." Kraven stated as he threw his spear into a target. "Twenty years. I have been hunting the Spider for twenty years."
"And the second that you had a chance to get to him, you didn't even get close." Josly mocked him.
"Well, in his defense, it wasn't all his fault," Brie said as she eyed Weather Witch. "You didn't even do much."
"How was I supposed to know that there was a runt there with super speed?" Josly defended what happened.
"Ah!" Kraven cheered. "You have finally asked the right questions."
"What did she ask?" Herman was a little lost.
"How was she supposed to know a kid had speed?" Mac recapped.
"The Flash has kin," Kraven explained as he ripped the spear from the target. "The Spider has kin as well. Do you think that it's a coincidence that the first time we were called into a school, they just happened to show up? I know my prey. I have been hunting this Spider for years. He is the father protecting his cub. Trust me, we find the child, we find the man."
"The two of them have kids?" Mark questioned as he threw his coat back on. "Wow, who in their right mind would bock them?"
"Irrelevant," Kraven stated. "But now we know how to lure out our prey."
"Lock your windows and board up your doors! The masked menace known as Spider-Man has returned to tear down everything A.I.M. has built!"
The twins were currently watching the news on the attack on the school. Caitlin walked into the room and noticed what they were watching and quickly turned it off.
"And that's enough of that," Caitlin told the two of them. "Bedtime, kiddos."
"Mom? Is it true?" Tina wondered as she and Tommy headed for their bedrooms. "What that screaming man say about daddy?"
Caitlin sighed as she brought them to the bedroom. Tommy was beginning to become curious as well.
"Is daddy a monster?" Tommy wonders.
"No, of course not," Caitlin assured them as she quickly tucked Tina into bed. "That man doesn't like your daddy because he's different. He never trusted why your father kept his identity a secret."
"Why does he do that?" Tommy questioned.
She walked over and pecked him on the head. "To keep you both and me safe," she said, sighing as she caressed his head. "He used to worry about your great-aunt May a lot. Used to worry someone would hurt her if they found out who he was."
Tina wondered, "Why would someone want to hurt her?"
"Bad guys don't care who they hurt to hurt someone," Caitlin says. "And when you were born, your father decided it was best for him to stop being a hero." She looks at Tina across the room. "Both of us knew what it's like to grow up without our parents. You've met your grandparents, but those were my parents."
"Did Daddy ever lose a fight?" Tina questioned.
Caitlin could name several instances where Peter had lost a fight. The battle against Zoom left him paralyzed. Dozens of times they fought metahumans and he was injured. Savitar, Cicada, and the Crisis are just a handful of examples of him losing fights.
"No," she said. "He never lost." She decided to lie to them. A small little white lie wouldn't hurt.
Peter then opened the door and saw everyone going to bed. "Oh, so this is where everyone is hiding," he said. Then he looked down and saw the kids were up. "And what are you two doing up?"
She agreed. "He's right, time for you two to go to sleep," Caitlin said. "You still have school tomorrow."
"Yes, sir...Spider-Man." Tina joked as she turned over to go to sleep.
Caitlin chuckled as she and Peter walked out of the room to let them sleep. They closed the door and sighed, unsure of what was going to happen next.
"The dampener fixed?" Caitlin asks.
"Barry's going to drop it off in the morning," Peter promises. "When he does, he and I should talk about our plans to try and fight A.I.M."
When they were walking into the living room, their televisions turned on and it was an A.I.M. emergency broadcast. The screen glitched and a sight of George Tarlton appeared on the screen.
"Greetings, parents of children attending Central City Elementary. Starting tomorrow, all family members are required to report to the checkpoint on 9th Avenue for a compulsory screening. This is necessary to ensure the safety of Central City, the home of hardworking citizens everywhere, by identifying and tagging any potential abnormalities. Remember, A.I.M. is here to help."
"Great." Peter sighed as the broadcast ended.
"And now A.I.M. knows that we have a kid." Caitlin wasn't exactly thrilled about that.
"Now, I definitely need to talk with Barry." Peter sighed. "You trust me, right?"
"Of course," Caitlin assured him. "Why?"
"You'll see," Peter promises.
The next day, things in Central City have only become more tense. Peter's original idea was to begin summoning everyone they knew to help them. But that plan was sidetracked when Barry discovered that their headquarters had been taken over by A.I.M. If they summoned anyone, they would be captured. That's likely where A.I.M. will begin its conquest of the world's heroes.
Barry and Patricia were holding Dawn as they approached the scanner. They were right behind Peter and his family as they approached. Peter was clutching Tina, who was clinging to her father. Tommy was doing the same thing with his mother; both of them were terrified about what would happen if the dampeners didn't work.
Leaning close to his daughter, Peter spotted Kraven and Chillblaine waiting for the scanners to alert them.
Peter asked her, "Are you scared?"
Yes," Tina confirmed.
"Makes sense." Peter shrugged. "We're in a lot of danger. Are your spider senses tingling?"
"No," Tina replied. "But only because...my bracelet is working."
"See? Nothing to be worried about," Peter promises. "I'd never let anything happen to either of you."
"Names." The checkpoint officer demanded.
"Snow-Parker's." Peter introduced them. "Caitlin, Peter, our kids Tina and Tommy."
They then stepped through the scanner and all of them closed their eyes in worry. None of them were sure if their dampeners could fool the scanners. They trembled with fear and worried about what would come next. Kraven sniffed the family; it seemed he was also there to search for their scent.
They let out a sigh of relief when the scanners didn't alert anyone about their powers.
You're clear. Move on for processing." The officer told them.
"We did it." Caitlin was relieved to say. "We passed."
Peter said, "Both the scanner and the sniff test."
Caitlin sighed. "I was worried for a moment there," she said. "But now..."
ALARM! ALARM!
"Alarms?" Caitlin asks. "Did we..."
"No, they shouldn't have," Peter said as he turned to the scanner. "But that means..."
Barry, Patty, and Dawn were standing in front of the scanner. Patty and Barry managed to get through, but Dawn's dampener malfunctioned, and she phased out of it.
"It's her!" Mark recognized the girl.
"Grab the girl!" Kraven demanded.
"No!" Barry cried as he tried to get to his daughter, the dampener still on his leg.
"The cub is mine!" Kraven shouted.
"We have to get out of here!" Peter saw his family as the number one priority. He wished he could help Barry, but his family was still in danger. "We have to go now!"
"But..." Tommy was confused. "I thought you were a hero."
"Mommy said you save people." Tina agreed.
Peter stopped and looked back at his friend and his daughter. He looked at his own kids and then up to Caitlin. He wouldn't be able to do any of this alone, and Barry didn't have access to his powers. Then Peter followed Caitlin's eyes to her chest where he spotted the dampening necklace holding Crystal back.
"Sorry, Caitlin." Peter sighed.
"For what?" Caitlin wasn't sure she understood what he was saying. "What are you planning?"
"She's right." Peter couldn't believe he was saying this. "They're both right. They deserve to live in a world of heroes."
Then, before Caitlin knew what was happening, Peter reached over and clutched her necklace in his hand. With one swift tug, he ripped the necklace off of her, stopping her powers from being dampened. It pained him to do it, but he didn't have any other choice; he had no syringe of adrenaline on him, so he punched Caitlin in the face.
Caitlin groaned as she felt the Bain, but most importantly she felt the adrenaline. The rush of energy and fear. That was all she needed.
Suddenly, Caitlin's hair transformed from its natural brown color into stark white, while her eyes turned icy blue. Her lips followed suit, and her alter ego, Crystal Frost, returned.
Crystal took her first breath of fresh air in ten long, anxiety-filled years. She had been practically asleep the entire time and hadn't even known what had been going on over the years due to the dampener.
"Oh, it feels so good to be back!" Crystal exclaimed in joy. But then she noticed the group of people surrounding Dawn and Barry. "And apparently it isn't just for a reunion."
"Quick rundown, hit or shoot anyone you don't recognize and cover our escape," Peter reported what he needed Frost to do.
"And here I thought you brought me back because you missed me," Frost said.
Peter smiled and decided to squeeze in one gigantic kiss. It was full of passion and love that Frost had missed so much.
"Trust me," Peter said as he broke off the kiss. "We did."
Frost smiled as she turned around and shot a gigantic blast of mist that sent several men flying and Kraven smacking into the wall.
Kraven looked up and only noticed Frost since Peter had snuck off to change and Patty had grabbed the twins. Barry managed to get the dampener off and get Dawn to Patty before quickly changing.
"The Ice Queen," Kraven growled as he stood up. He then picked up his spear. "You weren't who I was trying to draw out."
"Aw, did you miss me that much, Kraven?" Peter asked, swinging in and webbing the spear from his hand. "Then why don't you show me how much you missed me?"
Barry then sped into the scene wearing a new suit with gold boots that could absorb his speed and serve as a defensive mechanism if needed.
"Hey, there," said Barry as he greeted the Sinister Six. "I know we already met, but we were never formally introduced. I'm the Flash. You met Spider-Man, and there's Frost. How have you been, Frost?"
"Can complain, and I definitely am," Frost warned them.
Peter said, "You can do that later. What do the three of us have to say about going up against six of our enemies at once?"
"Child play." Barry scoffed.
"Then let's do this," Peter stated.
As the fight was about to commence, Patty moved the twins and her daughter away from the danger.
"Come on, we need to get out of the area," Patty told them.
"Aren't we going to help them?" Dawn wonders.
"No, your daddy and Peter can take care of this," Patty promised her. "My mission is to keep the three of you safe."
Little did they know, two people were watching them talk and whispering among themselves.
"I'll get the Allen's." The first one whispered.
"I'll get the Parker twins." The other confirmed.
Patty wasn't sure what had happened, but she found herself grabbed around the waist and someone grabbed Dawn. Then she watched as someone grabbed the twins and began to panic.
"Barry!"
"Mommy!"
"Daddy!"
Peter was flipping to dodge a spell from Weather Witch when he saw them being abducted. "No!"
Barry was about to speed over to save them when Mark froze his leg. Peter was going to shoot a web when Kraven tackled him and kept him down.
"Two for the price of one!" Herman exclaimed as he aimed his gauntlets at the heroes. He then began to charge them up and was ready to shoot. "I'll be remembered as the hero who killed Spider-Man and the Flash!"
Then suddenly, a strange webbing came out of nowhere and wrapped around his gauntlets. Herman was confused as to where the webs came from; he was yanked, causing the gauntlets to face Chillblaine and Kraven. As they disengaged, Mark was sent flying and Kraven was slammed into the wall.
Barry and Peter looked to see where the webs were coming from. A strange-looking portal formed in the sky; it almost resembled broken glass. Then, suddenly, Peter Parker-Coulson emerged from the portal, revealing himself as the one who had shot the webbing. He came flying at top speed and flew in to tackle Shocker, easily catching him off guard.
Barry and Peter were still completely lost as to what had happened, and so were dozens of onlookers. As Peter Supreme stood up, his cloak waving to clear the smoke, accidentally making him look even more dramatic. He looked back at the occupants of this world he had traveled to and recognized them as Variants of Book 2.
"Spider-Supreme," he said, introducing himself.
"Uh...hi," Peter said, deciding to go with it.
"Yeah...hi." Barry went with.
"Well, well..." broke them from their shock as they turned and saw Joslyn, Brie's drones, and Mac. They weren't sure where Mark was or even where Frost had vanished. "Spider has a new sidekick."
"Sidekick?" Peter Supreme didn't seem to like that term. He then looked over at Peter and Barry. "Did he just call me a sidekick?" He then cracked his neck and looked up to the sky. "Well, what does that make you two?" But then he looked and realized Gwen hadn't exited the portal yet. "Where is she?"
Gwen was still falling through the vortex, trying to gain control over her descent into this new type of portal. Usually, when Peter creates a connection between two worlds, it's almost seamless and feels like falling through a water slide. However, for the Watcher's portals, they are more painful and seem to require more experience. It almost feels like bouncing off of an encased slide that has been coated in oil to make it slippery. The shards don't hurt too much, but they do cause some discomfort.
"Ow!" Gwen exclaimed as she whirled through the portal. "Wow!"
Gwen then emerged from the portal, screaming as she hadn't expected to be so high up. Peter quickly reacted by using his mystical powers to levitate her, allowing her to fall more gently when she hit the ground. When Gwen looked around, she noticed the criminals and the heroes being surrounded; this was definitely an alternate universe.
"So, what's the rundown?" Gwen wondered.
Peter looked around and knew exactly which world they were in. "An evil organization takes people with powers, The cops are on their side, and we need to get the hell out of here with the two heroes."
"Got it. Kick ass, run for it." Gwen knew what she had to do and jumped into action.
Barry and Peter shrugged and saw they could use all the help they could get and went into action. Peter shot a web towards Scorpion whilst Barry sped off to run towards Weather Witch. Peter Supreme quickly followed as he leaped into the air and sent out mystical webbing at Brie drones.
Meanwhile, Mark groaned as he started to try and sneak off. A blast of ice stopped him. "Hey!" Frost marched her way over to him in anger. "This the guy, Caity?"
"That's him," Caitlin said, confirming it was Mark who had threatened the kids.
"If it isn't Killer Frost," Mark said as he recognized her.
"Crystal Frost," she said, correcting the name. "And you hurt a few people close to me. Add that to the fact that the whole cold persona is my thing. And I know about your history; you're going to turn yourself in."
"You forget, missy, I am actually the hero here," Mark said to her. "I was pardoned by A.I.M. for my past crimes."
"Yeah, A.I.M., they are not sketchy at all," Frost replied sarcasm dripping from her voice.
"Look, before you truly kill me like you did back there, I just wanna say, I forgive you," Mark said.
Frost wasn't entirely sure what to say to that. She had been asleep for nearly a decade, but she was sure that forgiveness didn't change over time. "You forgive me? You tried to kidnap innocent children. Hell, you probably did. In the name of A.I.M."
"What do you want me to say? The big boss says 'Hunt', I go out there." Mark shrugged it off. "I'm the hero, you're the bad guy nowadays. But maybe I can ignore those faults. After all, my shift is over. You wanna go out for a drink?"
Frost wasn't entirely sure what to say to that one. "Is he hitting on me?"
"I think he is." Caitlin wasn't sure what this was.
"Okay, look big guy, first off, you are not my type. Not to mention that I am married." Frost was sorry (not really) to inform him.
"Hm. Then why don't you stop staring at my six-pack?" Mark replied.
"I'm more confused as to why you're not wearing a shirt," Frost explains.
Then Mark ran toward Frost as she repeated the action, and the two of them met in the middle.
Meanwhile, Patty, the twins, and Dawn were dragged into a black hole. Patty was trying to escape the grasp of the people who were holding her and the kids as they emerged from the black hole and found themselves on some sort of military base. The two mysterious figures then let go of them, allowing Patty to get a look around the area.
"Where are we?" Patty asked as she looked around. "What is this place?"
"Relax, Patty," a voice said, causing Patty to spin around and be shocked by what she saw. It was Alex Danvers, sister to Supergirl, who had kidnapped them. "We saw what happened and were trying to get you out of there."
Patty was shocked to see Alex. "What the hell?" she said before turning to the abductors and watching them remove their hats and glasses. It was John Diggle and Lyla Michaels. "Lyla? Diggle?"
"Hey, Patty," Diggle greeted her. "Sorry for the scare, but we needed to move fast while everyone was distracted with your husband and Parker."
"How did you do that?" Patty asked as she looked at the black hole. Then she noticed that it was Dr. Ohnn, the Spot, who seemed to have dozens of holes in his skin. He was being examined by Aaron Davis, aka the Prowler. "What's happening to him?"
"It was AIM. They had captured him and attempted to steal his teleportation powers." Sue Dearborn explained as she approached, revealing she was part of the resistance. "But Ohnn managed to escape, and we brought him here. However, now every time he uses his powers, it eats away at him in the process."
"We wasted too much time getting you guys here when we needed everyone." Kelly Olsen said as she approached in her Guardian attire.
"So, Peter, Caitlin, and Barry are still out there?" Patty is beginning to worry.
Tommy asked, "Are Mommy and Daddy going to be okay?"
"I... yes." Patty decided to tell them a white lie she hoped wasn't a lie. "Are they?"
"We still have an agent in the field reporting in," said Lena Luthor as she walked into the room and spoke to someone on the other end. "She says that two Spider-People have come out of the sky and are now helping fight against the Sinister Six."
"What?" Everyone asks in shock.
Back in the fray, Gwen was swinging around as she dodged the strikes from Kraven's spear. She had no issues with this since it was basically child's play to her. Meanwhile, Barry was running around Weather Witch, forcing her to rethink her strategy of trying to strike him down. Peter was swinging around as he dodged Mac's tail filled with poison.
Peter Supreme was flying through the air as he shot down every drone that came within his vicinity. He shot every mystical spell that he could conjure up with all of his spells. Of course, he wasn't using the powerful spells on these drones; they weren't worth wasting all of that energy.
"So, you two came from a parallel universe?" Peter asked as he ducked to dodge a swing from Mac's tail.
"It's a little more complicated than that!" Gwen exclaimed as she grabbed ahold of Kraven's spear before he could kill her. She then flipped over the Hunter, holding onto his spear as she spun around to cause the Hunter to lose his balance. Then she used his grip on the spear to her advantage, as she kicked him, sending the spear into two pieces and Kraven flying away. "We're from a parallel multiverse."
"We've come here to try and help this universe; something has changed, and someone is coming." Peter Supreme explained the situation as he fought the drones. "We have to figure out where they are before they destroy everything."
"Okay, we'd love to help, but a lot is going on right now!" Barry said as he stopped running, causing Weather Witch to stop and face him. Sending a lightning strike his way, Barry quickly sped out of the way and dodged it. "We've got our own AIM situation."
Back with Frost and Chillblaine, she quickly slid across the floor as Mark leaped to try and hit her. When she tried to get back up, she had to dodge a kick that almost hit her in the face. Retaliating the attack, she got to her feet and spun to try and kick him in the face. But for some bizarre reason, all Mark did was flop down and do the splits.
"You know, it's okay to admit that you like me," Mark said as he flirted with her as he got up. "I'm a likable guy."
"You're as likable as jumping into a pool of hungry sharks," Frost quipped (not her best one), as she went in and punched him in the stomach. Had to admit, it was a little hard with his ribs; then she spun and kicked him in the ribs. "And, like I said, I'm married, and he's a whole lot better. Likely because he's not obsessed with something."
Frost then finished the job by summoning a powerful blast of energy and shooting Mark, sending him flying into the wall. She sighed in relief as she shook off the rusty feeling in her body.
"Ugh, Caity, what happened to us?" Frost wonders, feeling their body was stiff.
"You try raising two kids and trying to keep your husband alive and find the time to flex your body," Caitlin dared her.
Back with the others, Barry was back to running around Weather Witch to try and stop her. He then started to get an idea as he realized there was only one course of action. He sped around fast enough to charge a bolt of lightning and sent it flying toward Josly. Josly raised her staff to try and block the bolt, but that was exactly what Barry was planning on. The lighting passed through the staff and managed to hit Josly, sending her flying, and dropping the staff in the process.
"Mac, my man, you really have stepped down your game after all these years," Peter quipped as he flipped over and grabbed Mac's tail and landed on the top of his shoulders. "Is it because you never had a challenge? Maybe the suit is giving you a few extra pounds?" He then grabbed onto the tail and pried it off of his outfit. "Maybe we should lighten the load!"
Then there was one.
Peter Supreme was growing increasingly irritated by the swarms of drones and decided to use one of his simpler spells to fend them off. He began to conjure the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, but this time they were slightly different. The bands came out at lightning speed and flew around the area, destroying all of the drones within seconds. Everyone was shocked at how many targets Peter took down at once as he lowered himself onto the ground.
Peter Supreme instantly created a portal and walked through it. "We need to move."
Barry, Frost, and Peter were confused about what to do, but they knew it was a better option than waiting for their A.I.M. friends to return. When they made it through the portal, they were shocked to find themselves at the DEO base where everyone else was.
Patty cried out, "Barry!" as she ran and hugged him. "What happened?"
"We made a few new friends." Barry guessed and looked to their rescuers. "So, where are we?"
"The DEO's last known safe haven," a familiar voice said, getting the two of them to turn and see Felicity Smoak. "It's great to see you guys again."
"Felicity." Peter was shocked and relieved to see her. He walked over and hugged her. "I'm so glad you made it."
"How is Mia?" Barry wonders.
"She's fine, Nyssa is keeping her safe," Felicity said as she hugged Barry. "I'm so glad you two are alright."
"How many of us are left?" Peter wonders.
"Not many," Matt Murdock stated as he approached, revealing he was wearing an all-black suit with a red DD logo. "You're looking at the last remaining heroes on Earth."
Peter then started to get worried as he noticed a few missing people. "Frankie? Miles?"
Aaron stepped forward with a sigh, removing his helmet. "A.I.M. got them a while back, just when they reached me."
"What?" Frost asks in shock. "Frankie? A.I.M. has her?"
"We've been looking for her for a while," Alex replied.
"Why the hell weren't we informed?" Peter asks in anger.
"Because we didn't think you would want to know," a seductive voice called out, causing Peter to look and see Felicia Hardy approaching. "Hey there, Spider."
Peter was shocked to see Felicia there. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Well, let's just say when A.I.M. started to take over, I had someone I needed to protect," Felicia said as she sighed. "Peter, there's something you should be aware of," she added.
"What is it now, Felicia?" asked Peter. "I don't have time for your tricks or flirtations right now."
"No, nothing like that this time." Felicia sighed as she looked behind her, glancing at the young girl who was watching them from the school. "That's Ashley Hardy, my daughter."
Peter was shocked when he heard that and looked at Felicia. "You have a kid?"
"It's..." Felicia knew this was going to hurt. "More complicated than that. We have a kid."
Barry, Patty, and Frost (even Gwen) all froze when they heard that. The kids had already scattered and were messing around with the other resistance moments. Peter had a kid with the Black Cat?
Peter Supreme however wasn't as surprised, as he knew the main continuity version of Peter Parker also had a daughter with the Black Cat. He was actually distancing himself from the group to close his eyes and connect to the Watcher.
"Watcher?"
"I hear you, Peter Supreme." Watcher greeted him.
"We landed in this world, but we're not sure what to do from here," Peter Supreme admitted. "Is there a member of the Spider Society already here?"
"From what I have seen, this world has been transformed due in part to the efforts of time travelers and members of the Society. It's likely they are still there. They wanted this world to be created in a certain way. There was likely a reason for it."
"Alright. So, A.I.M. is definitely a result of their tampering." Peter Supreme guessed.
"It is a likely explanation." The Watcher confirmed.
"Alright, thanks." Peter knew where they needed to go next.
Peter was still processing the idea that he and Felicia had a child. "How? When?"
Felicia says, "When do you think, Spider?" She replies, "Tell you what, you've got some powerful baby makers there; I did everything I could to prevent it, but it still happened."
"I think I'm gonna be sick," Frost stated.
"How old is she?" Barry wonders.
"Almost eight," Felicia confirmed she was almost the same age as the twins.
Peter was shocked and looked over to Ashley, who was staring at her feet. "Does she know?" he wondered.
Felicia sighed. "No." she said, "I thought it would be best to tell you first."
Peter looked over to Ashley and knew that he needed to meet her. "When this is over, do you think that...?"
"I'll let you two have some time to properly meet," Felicia assured him. "I'm not a monster, Spider."
"Sorry to interrupt this whole strange reunion." Alex approached them with a stern look. "But we need to stop A.I.M."
"You guys know how to do that?" Barry wonders.
"Not exactly," Felicity replied as she walked over to the computers. She showed them a map of dozens of A.I.M. facilities all around the world. "We've mapped every place they take their shipments of droids, agents, and weapons, but we're still trying to figure out where these Adaptoids are coming from. We thought that if we took them down from processing, we'd even the odds a little."
"What have you got so far?" Frost asks.
"We have an insider warning us that they're based off of the AMAZO project," Lyla explains to them.
"AMAZO?" Peter and Barry recognized that name.
"That robot we faced a while back during that whole Elseworld's thing?" Barry asked.
"Makes sense. AMAZO was able to copy and attack us with our own powers and find our weaknesses." Peter muttered.
"Exactly. We've been told they're kidnapping metahumans to fuel their research on powers and make them stronger. That's why we want to shut them down. But we've been running into nothing lately. We can't seem to find a sustainable solution to this." Lena confirmed to them.
Peter looked at the patterns and saw there was no real way of seeing a solution this easily. 'I might know a way we can find a solution."
"How?" Alex wonders.
"I'll handle the how it's just a matter of you can get us to Gotham," Peter told them.
"Who's going?" John asks.
Peter said, "I'll take Barry with me," and looked at him. "Are you okay with that?"
"You think that's a good idea?" Barry asks.
"No, but I'd prefer to have them with me rather than here," Peter explains.
"What about you guys?" Kelly asks Peter Supreme and Gwen. "What are you going to do?"
"We've got a lead on why we came here." Peter Supreme answered. "We're gonna go and check it out."
"We are?" Gwen asks.
"Yeah, I've got a few ideas where to find our guy." Peter Supreme says. He then opened a portal for them to travel. "Let's go."
Barry and Peter were able to use one of Spot's portals to make it to Gotham without being detected; A.I.M. wasn't looking for them, so their alter egos gave them a chance to make it across the world unnoticed. When they made it there, they decided it was best not to use Barry's speed and paid for a taxi to take them to their location.
When they arrived at the location, Peter was shocked to see how rundown it was. Barry was more confused and surprised to see that this was where they were going.
Wayne Manor.
"What the hell are we doing here?" Barry asked Peter.
"You'll see," Peter said as he paid the driver.
Peter walked up to the gates and noticed that they had a chain and lock on them. That wasn't much of a problem as all Peter needed to do was squeeze it with his hands and it broke like glass.
"We sure we should be doing this?" Barry questions.
"He can bill me later," Peter promises as he walks forward.
Barry shrugged and decided to just follow Peter and hope he knew what he was doing. When they made their way up to the door, Peter noticed the overgrown grass and the plants growing up the sides of the manor.
"Man, someone hasn't been taking care of this place," Barry commented.
Peter walked up to the door and was going to try and break the knob for the door. But then he noticed that he didn't need to since it was unlocked.
"The most eligible bachelor in Gotham doesn't even lock his doors?" Barry questions.
"Barry," Peter said, "there are so many things you don't know." Sighing, he realized this was a secret he would take to his grave under normal circumstances. He entered the manor and gestured for Barry to follow. "Come on."
As they watered the garden, they could hear distinct music playing in the distance. As they made their way through the halls, they came across a room filled with the armor of knights and other artifacts.
"Wow, talk about a guy with too much space and too much money!" Barry commented as he touched the hilt of a sword.
"Come on, he has to be around here somewhere," Peter said as they made their way towards the lounge of the mansion. "Hello? Bruce?" They noticed that the music was playing on an old stereo on the table, surrounded by some dirty plates and paint. "Okay...I guess Alfred has the day off."
He then looked and noticed there was a painting in the room that seemed to be an original Bruce painting. He didn't know what it was about, but it looked like a nightmarish-looking bat floating over the rubble of a desolate city.
"Well, that's not nightmare-inducing at all," Barry commented.
"I didn't know you painted, Bruce," said Peter. He decided not to mock him. He hadn't been in contact with Bruce since the wedding almost ten years ago, so there was no way of knowing what state he was currently in. "You're good."
Then the two of them made their way into the kitchen area where they saw it seemed to be one of the cleanest rooms in the entire mansion. When they started looking around, Barry noticed that there was a pot of water boiling on the stove. Peter walked around the island in the middle of the room and noticed there was a sandal on the floor.
"Uh, are we sure Bruce Wayne is even still here?" Barry asked as he picked up a pack of uncooked spaghetti. "Or even alive?"
Peter looked at Bruce and asked, "What happened to you, Bruce?" As he picked up the article from the counter, he noticed that it was an article discussing the death of Alfred Pennyworth. "Oh, god..."
"Hey, how about these?" Barry asks when he notices some lights on a board. "Think he has some security system that says where everyone is?"
"Hate to tell you this, Barry, but those are updated waiter bells," Peter said as he strolled over to him. "But the security system isn't a bad idea." He then looked around. "If you were a billionaire, where would you have your security system installed?"
"Peter, you are a billionaire." Barry reminded his friend.
While they were talking, someone sneaked out of the pantry and made his way onto the counter. He had overflowing black hair that didn't seem to have been groomed in a while, as well as a long black beard that had grown down his neck. Despite his hair and beard, he was still in good shape. He was also missing one shoe as he sneaked toward the two of them.
"Yeah, but I don't keep my money in my house. And even if I did, it's not like I advertise where I live. Especially in recent years." Peter defended. "And besides-"
Before Peter could finish his statement, they heard a grunt, and they turned to face the man. But he was too quick, and he ended up kicking Peter in the face as he spun around a ceiling-mounted pot rack. Peter got the wind knocked out of him as he fell to the ground. When the guy came swinging to try and repeat the action on Barry, he just used his speed and got out of the way.
Peter groaned as he climbed back onto his feet, still feeling the effects of the kick to the face. "Okay, my Spidey senses seem to be a little rusty."
When the man landed on the island, he grabbed one of the pans and flung it toward Barry as fast as he could. Barry wasn't even fazed by this; he simply used his speed to grab the pan. And it was a good thing because when he did, the man grabbed one of the steak knives and threw it towards Barry. Instead of just trying to grab it this time, he used the pan to block the knife.
Then the man picked up a bottle of alcohol and took a quick chug before throwing it. Peter got back up and finally got his head on straight only to have a bottle chugged at his head.
"Ouch," Barry said, but he couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"You know what, Bruce? I'm starting to get a little sick of this." Peter said, his voice rising in frustration. "I've had it up to here with you!"
The man apparently referring to Bruce Wayne then grabbed the broom leaning against the island and tried to swing it at Barry. Barry once again dodged it easily, but Peter wasn't having such a great day. Peter was knocked in the face by the broom and fell to the ground.
Peter said, "You know... I'll just stay down here." He decided that was the best course of action.
Bruce then leaped to try and attack Barry with the broom as a final act to take him down. But there was one issue with that plan: Barry's speed. Barry managed to just walk out of the way and allowed Bruce to fly and land on a small table in the room. When he crashed, that took Bruce down for a moment as he had to crawl out of the vegetables to get back on his feet. But it seemed he wasn't in the mood to keep fighting as Peter finally got back up on his feet.
"Yeah, thanks for the help," Peter sarcastically said to his friend.
"Sorry, I was busy dodging the attacks myself," said Barry in defense.
Peter sighed as he looked over to Bruce. "Bruce?"
Bruce glared at the two intruders and recognized Peter. "Parker?"
"It has been a few years, hasn't it?" Peter asks with a light-hearted chuckle. "Are you okay?"
Bruce sighed and rubbed his head. "You guys hungry?"
Peter Supreme and Gwen carefully and covertly made their way through an A.I.M. facility dedicated to the development of drones, meticulously scanning the factory floor for any signs of irregularities or abnormalities. Their attention to detail and cautious approach were paramount in ensuring their safety and success in this mission.
"How do you power a place like this?" Gwen asks Peter.
"The only way they possibly could is by using an ARC reactor," Peter muttered. "They must have gotten it from my evil doppelgänger."
"Conquer the world, then the multiverse, and then travel to another branch of reality to offer some scientists gifts." Gwen wasn't sure she was following. "What is their plan?"
"Let's see if we can find out." Peter Supreme stated as he eyed a room in the middle of it all. "Looks like there's an office in the middle of all of this."
"Watching your evil army being built from the middle of it," Gwen said, her voice dripping with disdain. "That doesn't scream 'evil conquest,' does it?"
Peter agreed with her and simply leaped down after her, floating down gracefully. He began to make his way down towards the office, ensuring to keep quiet.
"We have 20 million Adaptoids built and a million more on the way," a male voice reported in the office. Peter Supreme tried to get a look into the office windows without being spotted. Gwen lowered herself down on a web and dangled herself to not cause any noise. "You have your army to conquer any hero, you're the biggest threat to any alien conquest. We've held our end of the bargain, Luthor."
Peter and Gwen stopped and looked at one another when they heard that. When they peeked into the office, they were shocked to see that Lex Luthor himself was in the room. He was the man in the office listening to one of the members of the Spider Society. That member of the Society was Web-Man. It seemed as though he had been sent by whoever it was to procure whatever Lex was working on for them.
Web-Man seemed to be growing angry at this as he slammed his hands against the desk. "We brought you back to life, Luthor. You were shot three times in the chest."
"Yes, she's my own sister." Lex sighed as he recalled the memory, taking a drink. "How'd you do that exactly?"
"Resurrection is one of the smaller things Agent H has accomplished," Web-Man exclaimed. "You think we can't take that away from you, too?"
"I wouldn't be so well intent in threatening me," Lex warns him. "Remember, you gave me this power."
"And this power is nothing compared to Agent H," Web-Man reminded him. "If you go up against him, you better bring the most powerful weapon you have. And then I'd look for something much stronger."
"If he's so strong, why didn't he come here himself?" Lex questions.
"Because he's got an entire empire to run," Web-Man defended his leader. "You're not part of the empire; you're just the supplier."
Ah, yes," said Lex Luthor as he tapped a hologram, revealing some sort of armor in development. "This is the new Adaptoid armor. With the powers of each and every hero."
"That's what they're using him for." Gwen realizes. "They want the technology he developed for the Adaptoids to make armor for the HYDRA Empire."
"HYDRA agents possessing technology capable of copying the abilities of any hero, mutant, or metahuman were seen as a complete danger to any dimension." Peter realized that anyone trying to fight them would be defeated by their own powers or overwhelmed by the dozens of people with the same powers. "But how did they plan on accomplishing this? They'd need an endless supply of the strongest mutants."
"Is the source secure?" Web-Man asks Lex.
"Yes, I have them both locked up tight," Lex says. "Trust me, it has been a delight, but I can't wait for the day when I'm finally rid of them. They remind me too much of the Man of Steel."
"Man of Steel?" Gwen was confused.
Peter was questioning the statement Lex made and wondered who he could be talking about. Reminding him too much of Superman. Oh, God!
"Iron Spider. Supergirl," Peter finally realized. Those were the only two that could remind Lex of the Man of Steel. "They're alive. They're some of the most powerful people in the world. Kill Superman and keep them alive so that they can power their super robots."
"So, we need to find them," Gwen muttered.
"Yes," Peter said as he looked around. "But first...let's blow the ARC reactor and send this facility sky high."
"And what about this small resistance formed?" Web-Man questions. "Rumor has it that Spider-Man and Flash have returned."
"Yes, they made a reappearance," Lex confirmed. "But it's not something we can't deal with. They're small potatoes that don't matter. And for the resistance...I already have a plan to take care of them."
Bruce handed Peter and Barry a bowl of spaghetti as he took a seat on the island near the sink. He started to take a few bites out of his spaghetti as Peter recapped their situation.
"So, you want to go up against A.I.M." Bruce recapped what Peter's saying. "Going after their power source for the Adaptoids."
"Yes, we figured if we could learn where they were being developed, then we could discover their weaknesses and take them all down." Peter recapped the plan.
"Adaptoids. A.I.M." Bruce recapped their names. "That marketing department isn't exactly subtle, are they?"
Peter gave him a stern look upon hearing that statement. "You call yourself Batman."
"Yeah, because I'm Batman." Bruce defended that one. "You call yourself Spider-Man."
Barry chuckled as he took a bite of his spaghetti. But then he was shocked and spat out a bit. "Wait, Bruce Wayne is Batman?!"
Just then, Peter realized he had never explained the situation to Barry and chuckled. "Sorry. Should have warned you ahead of time."
Barry was still completely shocked when he heard that. "But..." he was still trying to wrap his head around it. "He...Bruce Wayne is Batman?"
"Not really," Bruce admitted as he took his plate. "I haven't been doing that anymore. Ever since I... Joker died, and I left to try and rediscover why I do this... what my mission was. I thought the city would be better off without me." He then put his plate in the sink. "Then when Kate took over, I thought she'd be a better protector than I could be."
Peter remembered when Wayne Enterprises had blown up. "And that fire took her and Luke."
"Yeah," Bruce confirmed. "Batman has been nothing but a curse."
"Well, we still need you," Peter told him. "Bruce, you have access to places we could only dream of getting into. You can locate where A.I.M. is getting the power for their Adaptoids. You're the best detective in the world, you're the only one who can help us. Will you?"
Bruce sighed as he leaned against the sink and listened to everything Peter had said. He was the greatest detective, but that was what cost him Alfred, Kate, Alice (Beth), and practically everyone else in his family.
"Pass," Bruce stated as he walked off.
Peter was shocked when he heard that and looked over to Barry, who was equally lost. Bruce didn't say another word; he just kept walking and made his way up toward the library.
"Bruce, if A.I.M. isn't stopped, dozens of people, innocent people will be killed." Peter tried to reason as he ran over to the stairway. "We need you. The world needs you."
Bruce didn't respond; he just kept walking. Peter and Barry then marched their way outside and knew there was no way they were going to be able to convince him to help them.
Peter was angry with Bruce for that as he marched his way across the field outside of the manor. Barry was following and was wondering what his friend was planning on doing next.
"Uh, so, if Batman isn't going to help, what do we do now?" Barry inquired.
Peter made his way over to a small sewer entrance in the ground and sighed. "If he doesn't want to help, then we're going to have to go behind his back and use his stuff."
"Use his stuff?" Barry wanted that clarified.
Yes, his Batman stuff," Peter explained and kneeled down to the rock formation. "Bruce and I used this entrance a long time ago when we fought Morbius. He showed me the entrance; hopefully, he hasn't..."
The rocks blew red to confirm Peter's fear. "He changed the passcode," Barry recognized.
Peter groaned and should have seen that one coming. "Okay, new plan." He then stood up and clapped. Pointing at Barry and then the entrance, he said, "You stand there."
"What?" asked Barry. "Why don't you stand over there?"
"Because I don't have any speed," Peter said. "Now, come on; we're wasting time."
Barry sighed as he did what Peter asked and stood on top of the entrance. "Okay, now what?"
"Phase." Peter shrugged.
"You sure that's safe?" Barry asks.
"Don't worry, there's a platform lift to catch you," Peter promises.
"Alright," Barry sighed. "Been a while since I've done this." He then started to shake as if to get the rust off. "Okay, let's see if I've still got it."
Peter stood there and watched as Barry stood there, seemingly waiting for something to happen. Looking down at his feet, Barry realized he hadn't phased through the floor yet. Wondering what was wrong, Barry tried to concentrate harder.
"Man, this is harder than I recall," Barry commented.
"Just shake," Peter said, trying to help his friend out. "I know it's been a while, but..."
Before Peter could even finish his statement, Barry had managed to phase through the floor. Peter waited a moment and heard something crash, causing him to wince as he felt Barry phase through the platform. He heard lightning crackling and watched as Barry began to open the hatch.
When Barry opened the hatch, he had a look of annoyance on his face. "There's no platform."
Peter smiled. "Oops."
Barry and Peter then made their way down the hatch and into the main Batcave. There, they found the lights had been shut off. Peter, however, knew where Bruce kept the breakers and quickly flipped them on, lighting up the entire cave. When the lights came on, a dozen bats flew off towards the waterfall in the back that leads to the outside. There was also a ramp for the Batmobile, which was clearly visible at the end of a long lineup of dozens of other vehicles. There was a gigantic green dinosaur up across a stairway that moved past a gigantic penny, followed by the computers.
"No way!" Barry exclaimed as he took in the scene. He then sped around the perimeter, trying to take in as much of the area as possible. "Dude, this is insane!"
Peter agreed with Barry. He strolled his way over to the Bat computer and immediately began to get to work. "Okay, Bruce, luckily you haven't changed the password to the computer."
"Dude! Have you seen this?" Barry found the armory for all of Batman's previous suits and designs. "He's got more suits than you." He then got a closer look at one of them and was a little weirded out. "Are those nipples?"
"It was a weird time for him." Peter didn't take his eyes off the computer as he replied. "Wasn't exactly a pleasure for me." He sighed as he was looking over the computers. "Come on, there has to be some mistake somewhere, A.I.M. could have made somewhere.
Barry then walked over towards a tarp over a vehicle and was shocked. "Is this what I think it is?"
Pulling off the tarp, he was shocked when he saw that it was the Batmobile. The long nose, slim headlights, exposed engine parts, cockpit, fins, and grille—all familiar features from previous versions of the Batmobile—were present. The rounded design of the fenders, trunk, and vented rear wheel arches added to its unique appearance. The armor was made of hardened steel that could repel bullets, blades, and other types of projectiles and resist direct collisions at high speeds. A computer-controlled/voice-activated remote-control system allowed driverless maneuvering; the headlights had cameras for remote-control guidance. It was powered by a custom-built, high-performance turbocharged V8 engine and a turbine engine with an afterburner in the rear for sudden bursts of speed.
"Oh, my god!" exclaimed Barry as he saw the Batmobile. "It's the Batmobile."
"Yeah, Kate thought. She had wrecked the old one." Peter sighed. "He always kept everything at Wayne Enterprises as a standby. But he kept his more valuable stuff here at the mansion."
"I'll say!" Barry exclaimed as he looked around and spotted something. "Is that... shark repellent? How often does that come in handy?"
"I don't know, ask Jeff the Land Shark, King Shark, or Nanaue. We come across a lot of marine life in our battles," Peter replied as he kept looking.
"Can't argue with that," Barry admitted as he put the spray can away.
Peter chuckled at how excited his friend was as he looked up at the small red light on the camera. "I know you're watching, Bruce."
Indeed, Bruce Wayne was watching them from within the library through the security cameras. "You know, I understand why you don't want to come back." Peter sighed as he sat back. "I mean, I am guilty of it. Leaving my responsibilities out of fear of losing someone. I lost my uncle, Ronnie, and I didn't want Cait, my kids, or my friends to share their fate. But I learned that hanging up the cowl was a mistake. A.I.M. took my daughter. Frankie. I took her in, I'm not sure if you met her at the wedding or not. I had a hard time keeping track of you. But they've got her and my protege. And they're practically all my family. We scattered like roaches trying to survive while an exterminator came to kill us. The light is dying in the world, Bruce. And we sparked some hope back for people who can't defend themselves. A.I.M. thinks they're invincible, and they're trying to practically quietly conquer the world. I'm gonna stop them. The Adaptoids, Tarlton, everyone who is associated with A.I.M." He sighed and wondered if Bruce was even listening. "I've avoided my responsibilities for far too long. Sorry about what happened to Alfred and Kate. I wouldn't wish for anyone to lose a family member. Especially you. You've lost so much, Bruce...and I just want to save my kids."
Carefully listening to what Peter said, Bruce examined his own library. Walking over to a small portrait of his family that had been taken just before the incident, he pushed it aside and revealed a hidden scanner behind it. Using the device to scan his palm, he opened a hidden doorway hidden behind the shelves. Inside, he found a case that held one of his newer suits.
The tri-weave bodysuit consisted of a basic skintight tearproof bodysuit that applied pressure to injuries to stop bleeding. The major protection consisted of separate movable layers of armor plating, which were kept in place by steel wiring. The armor plating's inner layers were made up of a titanium-dipped tri-weave fiber mesh to provide protection from gunfire and sharp objects/knives. In between the titanium fiber, lay the Wayne-Tech MR fluids, which hardened in response to impact. Over the titanium fiber, laid a reinforced carbon fiber material, which was divided into separate pieces that molded to Batman's movements while fighting thugs. Once again, the bat symbol returned and was separated by the carbon fiber armor plating. Batman's cowl had also undergone a major overhaul; the new cowl consisted of an inner layer of titanium tri-weave fiber and an outer layer of a strong carbon fiber-like material, which could now separate into multiple segments to easily remove the cowl. The cowl removal mechanism was located on the back of the cowl beneath the plating.
Batman has ignored the call for far too long. It's time for the Dark Knight to return.
Back with Peter Supreme and Gwen, they were still sneaking their way around the facility while looking for that power source they expected to be an ARC reactor. Peter couldn't just make a portal to its location since they had begun to enter uncharted territory thanks to all of this never meaning to exist.
"How big is this place?" Gwen asks.
"You remember Raider's archives?" Peter asks.
"Sure." Gwen shrugged.
"Well, this is twice that size." Peter could tell through the size. "He is trying to build an army. Likely for the army."
"Machines to replace soldiers?" Gwen can't say she was surprised.
"Yeah, I know. Some people just like mindless machines obeying orders." Peter scoffed as he began to hack into their systems. "People question things, disobey orders...oh god."
"What?" Gwen asks as she approaches. "Did you find something?"
"I found...something." Peter allowed her to see what he found.
What they saw was footage of Lex Luthor and Captain Kramer standing behind some glass. The footage then showed a Metahuman in a cell; Adam Fells, the Geomancer, was trying to break free of what looked to be a glass box. However, he had on a metahuman collar, so it was blocking him from using his powers. Suddenly, the ground of the cell he was in started to spark purple electricity, causing him to spritz out, and the camera turned to face a larger-looking Adaptoid that resembled the original AMAZO robot.
"Oh, God!" Gwen gasped as she covered her mouth. "They aren't working on curing them or even containing them."
"Metahumans. They are the power source of the Adaptoids. They're keeping them alive long enough to copy their powers into code and download it into their Adaptoid army." Peter was disgusted to hear this news. "But that means we're not looking for an ARC reactor."
"We're looking for a Metahuman." Gwen put it together. "But who?"
"GAAAAHHHHH!" A voice cried from down the hall.
"Follow the screams." Peter guessed that was a good place to start if any.
Following the screams, they found a big box in the middle of a room where someone was surrounded by a half dozen Adaptoids. Peter knew that these guys couldn't copy his skills since it takes more than power to copy sorcery, and since they had yet to capture Spider-Man, they didn't have a spider-sense imprint. Or that's what they have seen so far. They figured Miles Morales was captured, but they didn't copy his powers yet. Hopefully.
"When I get out of here, I am going to kill all of you!" Max Dillon, Electro, cried out as he was being drained of his energy.
"Electro." Peter sighed when he saw where they were getting their power from. "An endless supply of power, as long as you keep his heart pumping."
"That's where they are getting their supply." Gwen was disgusted by that.
Peter acted first as he quickly opened a portal to send two of the Adaptoids through. When that happened, the remaining four Adaptoids turned to face the incident as the Adaptoids crashed into a volcano and began to slowly melt. While the others were distracted, Gwen leaped down and landed and used two webs to drag herself down further and crush one of the Adaptoids. When the other three remaining Adaptoids noticed her, they were quickly taken out with Peter floating down and shooting disks from his hands and sending them to slice off their heads.
"You just had to show off?" Gwen asks with a sigh.
"Sorry, I'm in a rush," Peter said as he approached Electro.
All of a sudden, the alarms started to go off, getting the two of them to look around in shock and confusion. They didn't have a chance to set off any alarms yet, so what caused them to go off?
Web-Man was still having his argument with Luthor when the base alerted them that someone had entered the base. "They're here."
Luthor didn't seem to waste time as he made his way over and pushed a button on a wall to open a secret compartment. When it opened, it showed off his improved War suit that included a new helmet and a few new advancements thanks to the improvements he managed to add with help from his Adaptoids.
EARLIER:
Peter had accidentally fallen asleep at the controls while he was still trying to find a way to track where A.I.M. was hiding their power sources for the Adaptoids. Barry had also fallen asleep and took refuge sleeping on the tail of the dinosaur. When Peter began to wake up, he noticed there was a small file next to the keyboard with A.I.M. written in bold letters and RESTRICTED written across the top. For some reason, there was a cup of coffee right next to it, which he was confused by.
Peter picked up the file and opened it to see that the facility where the energy sources that they had tested the Adaptoids on was located near the Soviet border. "Barry, wake up! I found something."
Barry woke up and sped his way over to open the file. "Great. Russia. How are we gonna get there?" He picked up the coffee and started to drink it to keep up his energy. "I can't use my speed without alerting A.I.M. that we are coming."
Peter said, "Maybe we could use another one of the black holes from Spot. And I'm just now realizing we never learned how to contact them."
All of a sudden there was a strange shift in the cave. They looked upward and noticed that there was some sort of mechanic at work and noticed something was lowering from the sky above. What it looked like as if it were one gigantic metal bat. The Batwing.
"I sent word to your little resistance. They know where to go. I'll help you get to the site and destroy the source," Bruce said, his voice sounding disoriented, just like how Oliver used to do it over the years. "After that, you're on your own."
Peter and Barry looked up at some control panels and were shocked by what they saw. Barry dropped the coffee cup and was shocked by what he was seeing. Peter, however, only smiled at what he saw. Bruce stepped forward into the light and showed off that he had shaven his beard, leaving a bit of stubble behind, and had shaved his head, leaving a buzz cut, similar to Oliver's.
"Oh my God! You… you are… you're…" Barry couldn't even get a complete sentence out.
"Yeah," Bruce confirmed with a nod and a small smile. "I'm vengeance."
The three of them then got into the Batwing where they then flew out of the waterfall and flew out into the skies. Luckily, the scrambler that Bruce had on board kept all of the scanners from A.I.M. and others from being able to track their movements. Spider-Man, Batman, and the Flash are ready to fight and take back the world from the terrain of A.I.M.
Back at the Resistance, they were trying to get everyone together to explain what they had learned from Bruce Wayne. Of course, they figured that it was only from Batman, which was a shock.
"Peter went to visit Batman for help?" Caitlin was shocked to hear. "I thought he was gone."
"It seems Spider-Man brought him out of retirement," Lena shrugged as she focused on the dampeners. "They might not realize it yet, but these dampeners you guys made to protect your kids, they might be able to finally help us depower the Adaptoids."
"You think you can make it so instead of de-powering us, they can depower the Adaptoids?" Sue asks as she approaches her.
"There is a chance." Lena sighed. "But I'm going to need is time."
"Mom! Look!" Tina cried, getting everyone to look up at the ceiling and see her hanging there. She was also wearing what looked like some sort of makeshift suit. It consisted of a bicycle helmet that had been painted into a spider mask. She had used some old plates to paint two spiders onto the front and back. "We're just like Dad!"
Tommy crawled up the side of the wall until he reached his sister. Wearing a new suit, consisting primarily of a red sleeveless hoodie with a small black spider emblem at its center, blue sweatpants underneath, a pair of fingerless black and red gloves, red boots, and a red ski mask with goggles over his eyes, he looked like a miniature version of his father.
"We're superheroes!" Tommy exclaimed as he crawled around.
"What the heck is this?" Caitlin asks.
"Sorry, we left them alone to play with some of the clothes and just thought they would be okay," Lyla said defensively.
"We didn't think that they would do this," Diggle added on.
"Where's Dawn?" Patty was a little afraid to ask.
Dawn came running into the room and sped around her mother for a good second before coming to a stop to show off her suit. Her suit was literally made out of the leftover armor pieces which were all purple pieces that she managed to scrap together with a few pieces strapped to her chest to give it a lightning bolt on her chest.
"Right here, mommy!" Dawn cried as she showed off her suit.
"Aw, that's actually pretty cute," Sue admitted with a smile. "Looks like a Baby Flash."
"Does that make her Baby Bolt?" Felicia wonders.
"I need to improve my suit," Ashley muttered to herself. Her suit was literally just her mother's newer suit that she retrofitted to make it so that she could wear it.
Suddenly, Tina and Tommy grabbed their heads in pain, causing them to lose control of their powers and slip off the roof. Aaron quickly used his rockets and grappling hook to grab the two of them before they could hit the ground and brought them down gently.
"What happened?" Caitlin asked as she ran to the twins. "What's wrong, babies?"
"My head hurts!" Tommy cried.
"Their Spidey senses!" Matt recognized that's how Peter used to get when learning about his powers. "Something is coming!"
Alex knew better than to question when their senses went off after Peter's would go off and hit the alarm. "Full evac! We'll head for the coordinates and get the hell out. Blow this place and hope to take the invaders with it." She looked to Spot. "Sorry, Ohnn."
"I understand." Ohnn nodded.
"But who is coming?" Felicity asks.
Then there was an explosion in the wall, and they saw it was a literal gigantic gust of wind coming from Weather Wizard's wand. She stood on top of the rubble and showed off the entire Sinister Six was back at full strength.
"Bring the children back alive!" Kraven proclaimed. "Slay the rest. Let no one escape. Today, this rebellion dies!"
"Hey, I am in charge here, Kraven." Chillblaine reminded him. "But, yes, do what he said."
Matt took his Bo and threw it across the room, causing it to knock into Shocker before he could power his gauntlets. Running into the fight, he missed Weather Witch was summoning lighting and shot the Man Without Fear across the room.
"Get the kids out of here!" Kelly cried as she activated her Guardian attire and ran.
Diggle grabbed his Spartan helmet and guns as he ran for cover behind a pedestal and looked around frantically. "Where the hell are they?!"
Dawn suddenly sped into the room and ran around in circles around Chillblaine who was confused about what was happening. Tina then came swinging in as she used some wires and tackled Chillblaine.
Mark was about to punch the kid when Tommy came in and grabbed his fists and punched him in the face. "Don't touch my sister!"
"We are not running this time!" Tina proclaimed as the three of them stood side by side. Ashley walked over and joined them in her Black Cat attire. "It's time to show everyone what we can do, and who we really are!"
Ashley ran up and Tina ducked to give her some room to leap as she made her way towards Weather Witch. When she was turning her staff toward the flying kid, Tommy slid across the ground using his ice powers to slide faster and grabbed onto the staff to stop Joslyn from summoning a storm. Ashley then used her cat claws to slice through the staff and punched the Witch in the face.
Kraven spun his spear around and tried to impale it into the little girl as Dawn sped around him like it was nothing. "We are not afraid of monsters like you anymore!"
Caitlin watched and wasn't sure what to think. "What do you know..."
Dawn then sped around Kraven and punched him at full speed and sent Kraven flying across the room. Tina then leaped off towards Shocker and grabbed him by the mask.
"I'm a menace! Just like my father before me!" Tina proclaimed proudly.
As the others finally ran in to help finish them off, Ohnn dropped and groaned in pain. "Ohnn?" Prowler ran over to him and helped him down. "Are you alright?"
"There's barely anything left," Ohnn moaned. "Only enough for one more." Ohnn then opened up one last black hole that led to the stronghold where Peter and the others were heading. "You need to go."
Aaron looked down at him. "What about you?"
"I'll hold them off..." Ohnn promises.
Aaron was sorry about how this needed to end and pat him on the shoulder. "Thank you." He then closed his mask and looked at the others fighting the drones. "Anyone wanna get the hell out of here, the train is leaving the station!"
"You hear him!" Lena cried as she grabbed Felicity. "Move it!"
Everyone ran toward the black hole to escape. The countdown was nearly complete, so it was perfect timing for them to run through the portal. When the countdown finished, the rest of the base and everyone inside, including Ohnn, were killed in the fiery explosion.
Back with Peter, Batman, and Barry, they were approaching the location where Bruce had located the A.I.M. facility. Barry was still a little giddy with how he was basically living an almost childhood dream by being in the Batwing.
"This is so cool," Barry muttered to Peter. "How come you aren't as excited?"
Peter shrugged. "Done it before."
"Ah." Barry shrugged.
Bruce reported to the two of them, "We're here."
"Hover mode engaged." The Batwing reported. Bruce flicked some more switches. "Ejector seat initiated."
"Oh, I hate this part," Peter whispered to himself.
The seats they were sitting in began to shift, and the doors below them began to open; their chairs were released into the cold air of Russia. Bruce's chair spun around so that he could face the two of them.
"You're strapped to your parachutes," Bruce informed them.
Barry looked down at his seat and noticed the parachute was indeed strapped to the back of his chair. "And where's yours?" He couldn't help but notice that Batman doesn't have a parachute on.
Bruce only gave a grin as he dropped from the Batwing and went into a diving position. Then, when he had built up enough speed, he opened his cape and began to glide his way towards the ground. Barry shrieked in glee and shock when he saw that. Immediately following it, both of their seats dropped, and they landed on the ground. It didn't take long for them to reach the mountain that housed their facility.
Bruce was the first to approach the wall and took out a heat-seeking pair of binoculars to see if any Adaptoids or humans were watching out. Seems that Luthor was so egotistical to believe nobody would find the site that he didn't bother with outside security. Yet again, people like that in the middle of nowhere would also draw some attention to it and would have given it away a lot earlier.
"We're clear," Bruce reported. "Let's move."
Barry nodded as he quickly sped up the side of the mountain and reached the top much faster than either of them. Bruce pulled out a grappling hook from his belt and aimed it at the rock formation. Peter didn't need to even use his webbing; he simply leaped into the air and grabbed onto the rocks, then repeated the action over and over until he reached the top.
Peter then looked around and sighed when he saw he was alone. "And then there was one..."
Peter made his way around the roof and wondered how long it took him to scale that mountain. But then he found a giant hatch that was recently opened. Must be where everyone else went. He walked over and saw just how deep it was and noticed the ladder leading down. Yeah, he wasn't going to be doing that. Leaping down the middle, Peter freefall his way down for a moment before he turned around and shot a web at the hatch lid to slowly descend.
When Peter reached the ground, there was still no sign of Barry or Bruce. Peter was a little worried that something had happened to them, so he tapped his comm. "Barry? Bruce? Anyone here?"
"Peter," Barry whispered as he sneaked up behind him.
Peter ended up shrieking at the sudden appearance of his friend, alerting the handful of people who were working on computers behind some glass. When they heard him shriek, they all turned over and noticed Barry and Peter, both of them in their superhero attire.
"Uh...hi?" Barry tried to lighten the mood.
But it wasn't enough as one of the scientists hit the alarm system and power dampeners activated in the area. Leaving both of the heroes powerless. When the heroes were opened fire upon, all they could realistically do was cover their eyes and wait for the inevitable since they couldn't possibly outrun bullets. That was when the Spot's portal suddenly appeared, and Dawn came speeding out. Before the power dampeners could take full effect, she noticed that the bullets were flying through the air, and she stopped in confusion.
Dawn didn't even notice her father or uncle were there until she turned around and saw everyone coming through the black hole. Confused about what was going on, but managing to put it together, Dawn walked over to the bullets and reached up to poke one of them with her finger. When she did that, the force of the bullet's trajectory changed, and was now flung off toward the wall. Giggling at the motion, Dawn proceeded to repeat it over and over to the other bullets. That was until the power dampeners caught up with her and Dawn ended up uncontrollably running into the wall.
Luckily, the others were able to react quickly enough as Kelly used her shield to block the incoming bullets. The twins dropped to the ground as they were left powerless due to the enhanced dampeners, and even Frost couldn't come out because of it. Alex stepped forward and opened fire on them, taking down the last of the guards.
"Are you guys okay?" Felicity asks Peter and Barry.
"Uh, not yet." Peter pointed to the other doorways.
Several more armed men and even a few Adaptoids entered the room and all of them. Everyone was beginning to circle one another so they were all back-to-back. None of them had powers, and they were no match for the Adaptoids. Those with powers were currently powerless thanks to the power dampeners, and they were going to have to fight their way out.
"Anyone got any ideas?" Kelly asks the group. "I am out of suggestions."
Then there was a sudden thud above them, causing everyone to look upward as Peter and Barry entered the facility. There they saw Bruce standing tall and proud in his Batman attire. Everyone was left in shock and awe at the sight of the first true vigilante in their world (sorry, Ollie). He had a few good years of Batman under his belt before Peter came into the picture, and long before Oliver became the Arrow. Then Bruce tossed down a small ranged EMP, which immediately went off and shut off the lights.
"This is gonna hurt," Bruce muttered.
He was talking to them.
Everyone immediately opened fire toward the Dark Knight, to which he retaliated by extending his cape and gliding downward. The resistance then took this as an opportunity to fight back; Matt ran in and smacked his Bo staff against the nearest one and kicked another. Meanwhile, Bruce came gliding in and grabbed onto the Adaptoid before it could fire, using a small rod on its neck as its weak spot, and breaking off its head.
Felicia came running in as she wrapped her legs around the neck of one of the security men and slammed them against the ground. Ashley came in and used a grapple gun to fly in the air and tackled one of the Adaptoids, quickly clawing at it to rip it apart.
Aaron went in at full power as he used his boots to speed in and then used his robotic claw hands to tear through the Adaptoids. Tina and Tommy ended up crawling around and trying to avoid the action since they didn't have access to their powers. But that isn't to say they still could try and help out as they kept low and used what they could to trip up their enemies.
Making quick work of their enemies, Bruce marched towards the computers and attached a wire from his suit into the systems. He then had a small holographic projection come from his suit that showed him the schematics of the building.
"What are we looking for?" Bruce asks.
"A way to destroy the operations of this place," Alex answered. "Or at least the power dampeners now."
"Well, I've got something." Bruce pulled up a strange room on the schematics. "Seems to be some room full of...red sun generators?"
Alex froze when she heard that and looked toward Lena. Both of them seemed to have the exact same thoughts in their minds when they heard that.
"Kara?" Lena muttered.
"It has to be," Alex stated. "Why else would you need red sun generators other than to weaken a Kryptonian?"
"Could be Clark," Barry muttered to himself.
"Let's find out," Kelly stated as she and the girls decided to head that way.
"Hey, what about...?" Peter asks when he watches them leave. "Okay...you got the dampeners down?"
"Got it," Bruce said as the lights in the room dimmed. "Your powers should start coming back."
Barry felt electricity flow through his body and sighed. "Now what?"
Peter was going to respond when his senses alerted him of something. "Uh-oh."
"What?" Diggle asks. "Why 'Uh-oh'?"
There was then an explosion, and it sent the rest of them flying. Matt groaned as he got back up to his feet and was trying to sense where or what it was. When he was trying to hear through the steam and electrical wiring, he nearly missed getting hit by a gigantic robotic fist that came out of nowhere. When Peter got up to his feet, he recognized the armor that was being used to attack them.
"Luthor?" Peter was shocked to see.
Lex Luthor then retracted his mask and showed off the bigger and bulkier armor he created. "Spider-Man. It has been a while."
"I should have known." Peter snarled. "Tarlton is one of yours?"
"I am Tarlton!" Lex proclaimed proudly. "You thought some wannabe could come up with something as amazing as all of this?"
Bruce took his distraction by monologuing to Peter so he could throw a Batarang at him. But to his surprise, Lex managed to catch the batarang.
"I've been giving myself a few upgrades, Batman," Lex stated with a grin. Then Alex's suit and his eyes began to glow yellow as electricity sparked off of him. "You're no match for me now." His voice made its way into their heads.
Peter and Gwen were working on freeing Electro from his prison as a way to try and cut off the power supply to the facility. While they were working, Gwen felt something tampering with her senses coming from the opposite room from them. Peter kept working on freeing him from the contraption when Gwen opened the door to the room. What she saw caused her to gasp and cover her mouth.
"Peter?" Gwen called out to him.
"In the middle of something." Peter reminded her.
"Now!" Gwen demanded he saw what she found.
Peter sighed and stopped trying to free Dillon for a moment and floated over towards her. "What is it?" Then he saw what Gwen was looking at and froze. "Oh."
It was...everyone.
Every hero, metahuman, mutant, mutate, anything or anyone with powers or abilities was currently inside that room. They were all being kept in what looked like containment boxes and their bodies were being stripped of their powers.

"They're all here," Peter muttered in shock. "This is where he has been keeping everyone."
"Are they..." Gwen wasn't sure how to ask. "Are they all dead?"
Peter wasn't entirely sure. He floated his way up and touched the containment cell holding John Constantine. He sighed in sorrow when he felt no life emanating from him.
"Some of them are." Peter was sorry to say.
Gwen walked her way around and found herself in front of the Martian Manhunter himself. When she did, she felt a sudden urge to mess with the dials and she somehow knew how to disable the cell.
"What are you doing?" Peter asks when he floats back down.
"I don't know. It's like I am not in control." Gwen admitted.
When the cell opened up, J'onn let out a deep breath and fell to the ground. He coughed up some yellow fluid; it was likely how he had been kept alive in that container.
"Thank you," J'onn said as he stayed on the floor. "I...it has been so long."
"Are you okay?" Peter asks.
"The others...where are they?" J'onn asks.
"Others?" Gwen and Peter were completely lost.
Alex led the way through the facility, while Kelly stayed on her left to block off any oncoming attacks. Felicia was in the back, watching their backs for any ambushes. Lena and Felicity were there in case they needed technical support. Patty, Sue, Ashley, and Dawn...well, Dawn sneaked off with them. It seemed she didn't want to be stuck with the others.
When they followed Bruce's blueprints, they found themselves in a room with a gigantic container in the center of the room as well as a set of computers to control it. Felicity quickly walked over and began to do her thing.
Okay, let's see what kind of security measures you have in place to trap the Man of Steel," Felicity stated as she worked diligently. "Wow, I never realized how much I would miss hacking into things."
"That is a little unnerving," Lyla admitted.
Back with Peter, Gwen, and J'onn, they made their way back over to where Electro was still bound up.
J'onn explained to them, "The controls here are similar to the containment pods they placed you in. I have been telepathically trying to get any word out to the others, but the dampeners kept me from ever escaping here. The difference is they needed him awake to siphon his energy."
"How do we get him out?" Gwen wonders.
Using his alien eyes, J'onn looked through the controls and, using his intangibility, went through them. Then he ripped the controls clean out, and as a result, the siphoning shut down throughout the entire facility. This was accompanied by the facility losing power and going dark.
"Didn't think that one through, did we?" Gwen asks.
"You're kidding," said Peter, using his powers to illuminate the area they were in. "You forget I'm a sorcerer?"
"Will those magic tricks save you in the long run?" Web-Man asks, getting the three of them to turn and face him. "Especially against this?"
Suddenly, a hammer flew through the room and slammed into the ground. Fortunately, all of them had their own warning systems and managed to dodge the attack. However, they watched as the hammer went flying back into the darkness. As something began to illuminate with green lights, they watched as a gigantic Adaptoid, roughly the size of a bus, stood up. It held a shield in one hand, that hammer in another, and had two eyes that were beginning to illuminate red.
"What...the hell...is that?" Gwen asks.
Peter recognized this weapon as he had come across several versions of it in the past. "The Super Adaptoid."
The power outage actually helped Felicity since fewer firewalls were up and working at the time. She hacked her way into the cell and managed to shut down the red sun generators.
Felicity said, "I got us in."
The door to the giant sphere began to slowly open, revealing a small walkway that descended to their location. Alex was first to make her way inside and saw how dark the room was without the generators. Lena activated her flashlight to give the area some light.
Alex called out to her sister. "Kara? Are you in here?"
They heard what sounded like whimpering. That got both Alex and Kelly's attention as they followed the cries around the dome-shaped cell. When they found something, Alex picked up the outfit and gasped when she saw it was her sister's outfit, covered in blood.
"Oh no!" Kelly said she understood what had happened to Kara.
As Lena walked up the platform, she wondered what was going on. "Hey, did you find Kara?" she asked. Then, noticing the suit, her expression grew concerned. "Oh, no."
Alex began to tear up as she wondered what Kara had suffered through the past ten years trapped in this container. But then they heard something scurrying across the cell, causing them to jump. They saw what looked like a foot get dragged across the floor, and they followed it.
"Hey! Hey!" Alex exclaimed as she sought some answers.
As the light hit the strange figure, it froze. She saw a young woman with long hair that didn't appear to have been taken care of. It seemed she wasn't used to light; she covered her eyes and continued to whimper.
"Hey, it's alright," Alex said as he tried to soothe the little girl. She put her gun down and turned to face them. "We're not gonna hurt you." Kelly followed suit and deactivated the shield to appear less threatening. "We want to help."
The little girl continued to whimper as she lowered her arms. Alex extended her hand to the little girl to take. The little girl reached her hand out to touch Alex, seeming to think this was some sort of trap. When the little girl moved her arms, her chest and uniform became clear. She was wearing a black prison suit of sorts that was skintight and had a familiar symbol on her chest: S.
"Oh, my God!" Lena was starting to get an idea who this girl was.
"It's all right," Alex said, ignoring Lena for a moment. "Come on." She then pulled the young girl close and grabbed a black blanket, wrapping it around her. Suddenly, alarms went off; it seemed they had some backup generators somewhere. "Let's get the hell out of here."
Alex came running out of the room carrying the little girl wrapped in a blanket. Sue and Lyla were confused when they saw her run off with her.
Sue exclaimed, "What the hell?"
"Was that a kid?" asked Lyla, equally confused.
Alex ran down the hallways as he looked down and noticed the young girl had passed out from exhaustion. There was no telling what she had endured in that cell for all those years. He wasn't sure what the connection was between this kid and his sister, but judging by the red sun generator, the symbol on her uniform, there was definitely a connection.
The girl began to stir due to the alarms blaring everywhere. "It's okay," Alex soothed her. "I've got you."
Gwen wasn't sure she was following. A gigantic robot flew over towards them. "What does that mean?"
"Let's just say that thing has access to every power it has siphoned from this base and into its robots and has mastered all of them!" Peter cried in fear. He knew how dangerous an Adaptoid was, but a Super Adaptoid was just more dangerous and worse than the original. "We can't let it get out of here!"
J'onn saw this was a threat to his world and knew he needed to react. J'onn used his intangibility and flew toward the robot. But he was hit by a heat vision attack that caused him to crash and burn. Web-Man chuckled as he opened a breach in space-time with a small watch on his wrist.
"I'll be back later. Have fun, don't break my toys," Web-Man joked as he closed the portal.
Gwen went in next, attempting to go on the offensive. But that's when the Super Adaptoid used Canary Cry to send her flying and smashing into the wall.
Peter saw that he was their last defense and knew he needed to react quickly if he didn't want this Super Adaptoid to escape. Deciding that this was the time to begin cheating, he activated his third eye.
What he saw was the Super Adaptoid was about to use the powers of Turtle-2 to try and slow down time. That was a fair enough power to try and use against him. But he still had his own ace up his sleeve. Revealing the Eye of Agamotto he kept hidden around his neck, he counteracted the Turtle-2 powers and leveled the playing field.
When he saw what was coming next, Peter saw that the Super Adaptoid was going to use Black Lightning's powers. He then quickly defended himself by using the shielding of the Vishanti. The battle grew fiercer and more intense as the lightning deflected off the shield and flew around the room. As the Super Adaptoid took a moment to begin cooling down, Peter took the opportunity and summoned the Images of Ikonn.
When he began to use this power to multiply himself multiple times over, he used The Bolts of Balthakk against the Super Adaptoid. That didn't end as well as Peter would have hoped, as the Adaptoid ended up using Dreamer's energy to send an EMP, sending Peter flying and destroying the images of Ikon in one fell swoop.
Peter was flung and smacked into the wall. He slipped out of the Cloak of Levitation and rolled onto the ground. He groaned as he looked and saw that there was a tear in his suit's left shoulder. He groaned and knew that he had to do something quite risky.
Peter said to his cloak, "Execute Alpha Commands."
The Cloak seemed to understand what he was talking about and flew off. Peter then used the Tao Mandala's Defensive Spell and put two shields in his hands that he then tossed towards the Super Adaptoid. The Super Adaptoid then used one of John Constantine's spells to block off the attack. But that was when the Cloak came in and wrapped itself around his head.
With that out of the way, Peter quickly used the Bolts of Bolthax on the robot to send a gigantic package its way, throwing it off balance. While it was down for the moment, he quickly used Vapors of Valtorr to freeze the robot, keeping it down.
Peter sighed as he watched the Cloak make its way back towards him and wrap itself around his neck. "God, I hate these guys," he muttered under his breath. Then he ran over to J'onn to check on him. "J'onn? J'onn J'onzz?"
"Ah, I'm alright," J'onn assured him as he got up. "Where's the other one?"
The Cloak had already been hard at work waking Gwen up by slapping her across the face a few times. Gwen muttered and moaned a few times before finally starting to wake up.
"What? I'm up, I'm up," Gwen cried in annoyance. "Cut that out!" She then looked over and saw the Super Adaptoid encased in stone. "You did it?"
"I managed to slow it down, but we need to run before it reboots," Peter said as his senses went off.
Looking back at the Super Adaptoid, Peter and Gwen were both shocked to see it had phased through the rock formation. It then used its super speed, leaving any of the three of them unable to react in time. J'onn was sent flying and smashed into the wall, while Peter was punched and sent flying into the ceiling. Gwen was then grabbed by the neck and slammed into the ground.
Gwen struggled to free herself from the grip of the Super Adaptoid as it turned its hammer and was ready to fling it at her. But that's when Max Dillon came flying in and blasted the Super Adaptoid in the back. When it was attacked, the Adaptoid went into defensive mode as it turned and used Danny's Iron Fist to attack him. It punched Dillon in the chest. He was then sent flying and smacked into the wall, creating a massive hole in his chest.
Gwen took the opportunity to leap and grab onto the Adaptoid so she could try and fight it off. But that didn't end well as it only used its strength and smashed her into the ground. The ground rippled and shattered beneath them as they all fell through.
Lex sped around before he then grabbed Peter by the neck and slammed him into the conveyor belt. Then he tried to stab him with a blade coming out of his armor's wrist, but Peter was able to dodge the attack as he kicked Lex in the chest to free himself. Caitlin then morphed into Frost as she tried to defend Peter by shooting mist towards Lex to try and freeze him and the suit.
The suit managed to stop him from using his super speed, giving Bruce a moment to run in and punch Lex in the face. Before he could reactivate his suit's helmet to protect himself, Bruce used a Batarang with a rope and threw it at Lex, wrapping it around his neck so he could yank him to the ground.
Barry then sped over and punched him in the face, causing his helmet to crack a little. "You killed all of our friends, kidnapped innocent people, heroes...so you could pretend to be one?!"
"Become you?" Lex laughed in his face. "I'm better than all of you!"
Then a blast of Black Lightning shot off of his suit and sent everyone flying. Aaron was the only one who wasn't affected; he ran in and tackled Lex to the ground again.
"You took my nephew from me, Lex," Aaron said as he punched him in the face. "Now, you're gonna pay."
"Oh, don't count on it, Davis," Lex chuckled.
Then out of nowhere, the roof above them began to cave in. Then the Super Adaptoid, J'onn, Gwen, and Peter, all came crashing through the ceiling. The Super Adaptoid then opened its mouth and instead of using Canary Cry, it used heat vision from its mouth and blasted the heroes. Lex used the chance to activate his rocket boots and flew off into the sky, escaping through the ceiling.
"What the hell?" Alex asks as she runs into the room. "J'onn?"
"Run!" Peter Supreme cried as he used his magic to open a portal outside. "Go, now!"
The girls and children all ran for the portal, knowing they didn't stand a chance against something as powerful as an Adaptoid, and this one seemed to be enhanced. While they were escaping, the Super Adaptoid started approaching them; however, Frost appeared and used an ice slide to get around quickly, then blasting the Super Adaptoid. Her use of her powers kept the Super Adaptoid from moving, as it had previously used the Flash's speed to escape the rock formation, so it couldn't repeat the trick to escape the ice.
"We gotta move!" Peter cried as he grabbed Bruce's arm.
"How do we destroy this thing?" Barry asks as they run for the portal.
"We just gotta-"
Before they could exit through the portal, they were attacked by numerous normal Adaptoids. Changing strategies, Peter Supreme altered the portal so that it would expel these Adaptoids into the ocean and shoot water at them from within.
"We gotta blow this place," Matt stated as they ran while they were out for a moment.
"How do we do that?" Barry asks.
Bruce said, "I've already hijacked the signal for this place." He began using his glove to manipulate the building. "I can rig the generators to blow, taking an entire portion of the building with it."
"Do it!" Gwen cried as they ran. "Let's just hope that the Super Adaptoid goes with it."
Bruce complied and began to set the generators to overheat and explode. It gave them a few moments to run for their lives before the explosion caught up with them, and Bruce led them out. Dawn sped ahead of them and managed to push over the remaining security as most of the Adaptoids were still on the factory floor. When the generators blew, a fiery explosion took the entire factory and all of the deactivated and activated Adaptoids along with it.
They managed to find a way out, just barely making it out before the explosion caught up with them. The shockwave of the explosion was still powerful enough, however, to throw them out into the snow. Barry and Dawn were sent flying, while Alex stood a little too close, slipping and dropping the young girl, sending her skidding into the rising sun.
As everyone got back up, they found themselves surrounded by dozens of A.I.M. security forces who demanded that the heroes stop and get down on their knees.
"Okay, we're complying," Peter said as he did what they asked.
"What's the plan?" Barry asks. "Batman, what do we do?"
Bruce looked around for an answer and noticed something floating in the air. "Now... we try not to die."
The young girl, high in the air, was absorbing the sun's radiation. She had been looking down at her feet until the men began to open fire on her. When they started to open fire upon her, all of the bullets didn't even seem to be leaving a dent in the clothes she was wearing. It gave the impression that her suit was made out of some bulletproof material. When she raised her head so that her face could be seen by the men below, her eyes were glowing red, and anger was clearly visible on her face.
Reaching up to where a steel electrical collar was visible on her neck, she tore it off like it was nothing to her. Then she zipped across the sky at record-breaking speed. She rammed into the guard that was holding down Dawn, giving her an opening to run around and leap into another guard since the ice was making it difficult for her to run. Lena grabbed one of the guns and opened fire as Alex started to give her and the girl some cover.
The new girl flew back down and slammed into the ground, creating a snow cloud that they used to their advantage. Bruce punched the one who was aiming a gun at him, allowing him to disappear into the shadows once again. Tina and Tommy double-teamed one of the guards, as they jumped and kicked him before dragging him by the leg. Gwen flipped over one and grabbed him by the gun, then threw both him and the weapon away simultaneously.
Felicity was the only one not necessarily fighting; she was just trying to get out of the way while Sue roundhouse one of the men. Peter came webbing two guys and smacked them into each other in the process. Barry couldn't use his speed all that well, but he could still fight with it rather than run.
Peter Supreme had shields to protect them from the back of the troops. Alex was engaged with two guys at once, and one managed to shoot a bullet aimed right at her face when she was turning around. But luckily, that was when the new girl came flying in, using her hand to stop the bullet, then proceeding to smack him across the face and send him flying.
She then started to slide to a halt right at the edge of the building. The Batwing was beginning to fly down towards the team as the girl then fell to the ground and seemed to have passed out.
With their base destroyed, the only place they had left to go to hide was the Batcave. They made it to their destination, and Alex was quick to run a diagnostic check on what happened and who the young girl was they saved. They even grabbed the canisters that were holding all of their friends and brought them with them.
Bruce was scanning the canister that was holding Nia. Lena was helping figure out the logic and how these canisters were working.
"Are they alive?" Felicia asks.
"Barely," Lena muttered.
"They're being kept alive right at the edge of death," Bruce explains. "They all need time to finally regain their strength. A.I.M. was keeping them alive so that they could siphon their powers. They needed them barely alive to do that."
"But now that we saved them, they can begin gaining their strength." J'onn was happy to say with a sigh. "It'll take some time, and a whole lot of hope, but we might be able to wake a few of them up."
"So, what do we do?" Tommy asked. He and his sister were with Dawn and Ashley, who were watching over as Alex ran a blood test on the young girl. "I mean, isn't the bad guy still out there?" They didn't even realize that the young girl was standing back up. "Shouldn't we be looking for him?"
"Who are you?" The young girl cried out, scaring everyone around as they turned to face her. She seemed weak and could barely stand. Being in the cave was no better than the cell she had been kept in; it made her wonder if she would ever be able to escape. "Why have you brought me here?"
"Uh...hi?" Tommy said as he backed away to hide behind his sister. "We thought that the bad guys were holding Supergirl."
"What do you want with my mother?" She asks.
The entire cave went silent as everyone turned towards the girl and was shocked to hear her words. J'onn made his way over quickly as he flew across the cave. He began using his powers to investigate further, only to be shocked by what he discovered.
"She's Kara and Parker's daughter," J'onn confirmed.
"What do you know of my parents?" She demanded to know.
"We were trying to rescue them," Alex explained as she approached the girl.
"Why?" She didn't seem to believe in people wanting to help others.
Alex sighed as she pulled out her wallet and showed off a photo of her and Kara from years ago. "Because... she's my sister."
The little girl was shocked to see this and grabbed the photo to get a better look, almost like she was expecting it to be a fake. "My name is Elena," she confessed as she looked up to Alex. "Kara Danvers is my mother."
Alex smiled and teared up at the same time. This means that whatever they did to Kara, Elena was born in A.I.M.'s clutches and has never been outside. When Elena tried to stand up, she nearly fell, and Alex caught her.
"Hey, hey. You...you're not strong enough to stand on your own." Alex stated and looked upstairs towards the stairway that leads to the mansion. "Hey, why don't you kids take her outside? Let her stand in the sun? That should give her some strength."
The kids did exactly that as they carried Elena out of the cave and outside.
As they made their way outside, Elena stood in the middle of the open field and began to watch. Elena started to soak up the sun's rays. She had never felt this strong in her entire life and was basking in how healthy she was beginning to feel thanks to the help of the sun. This was the first time that she had ever felt the sun on her skin literally her entire life. And with the black suit, which was designed to help her body soak up sun rays better and faster, was also helping Elana get stronger a lot quicker.
Then Elena began to feel the power of both Spider-Man and Supergirl coming in. She grabbed her ears and groaned as she could hear every whisper within a mile radius.
"Is it always this loud?" Elena asks the kids.
"Loud?" Ashley wasn't sure she understood. "It's pretty quiet."
Elena sighed as she closed her eyes and recalled the stories her mother had shared with her about her powers. As she did so, things became clearer, and she gained a deeper understanding of them.
"So, you feel...better?" Tommy asks her. "You feel... super?"
Elena looked around the area and towards a few trees in the area. She grabbed one by the bark and lifted it from the ground before tossing it into the air.
"Yeah, that- that's super," Tina muttered.
"My mother taught me how to control these gifts," Elena explains why she was able to master them. "Those monsters used me for my power to test out on their robots."
"Adaptoids," Ashley informed her. "They have been using them to kidnap and hurt others like us."
"There are more like us?" That concept seemed to be lost to Elena.
"Many. We're working on finally putting an end to A.I.M. You want to help?" Ashley asks.
"I just have one question." Elena wonders something. "When you found me in there, why did you save me?"
"Because we saw you needed help." Dawn shrugged.
Elena then looked down at her House of El symbol and poked it. "Do you know what this stands for?"
"Super...kid?" Tommy wasn't sure how to answer it.
"The House of El is the symbol of hope," Elena explains to them. "My mother said that it was what we stood for. To spread hope around the world."
"So does this mean that...?" Tina wonders.
"I will help you find and stop Lex Luthor," Elena confirmed.
Peter Supreme was busy searching the universe for Web-Man before he could cause any more trouble. He figured that if he found him, Lex Luthor would be nearby. Bruce Wayne approached him and had to admit he was mesmerized by seeing Peter use magic to track him.
"Oh, hey," Peter Supreme said as he stopped working. "Looking for someone."
"They told me everything. Mostly." Bruce assured him. "You are on a mission from across the universe to save it."
"Yeah, someone else broke it, now I'm left to pick up the pieces." Peter Supreme sighed as he stood and walked around. "I'm the janitor of the multiverse."
"Sounds boring," Bruce commented.
"I wish." Peter Supreme sighed.
"What are they like?" Bruce asks. "These other worlds. Are they...like our world?"
"Some are. Others are completely different." Peter muttered as he sat back down. "It's a lot of work."
"Well, it's better to have someone around, I guess." Bruce gestured to Gwen, who was talking to Lena and Felicity. "I'm guessing you're together?"
"In most of the ways you're thinking." Peter Supreme confirmed.
"Tell me something," said Bruce, a little curious. "You have all this power." He paused for effect. "You have the ability to manipulate time. You can go anywhere. Travel to any dimension. With all that power, why do you want to keep fighting to protect all of us?"
Peter shrugged. "Because it's who I am," he said. He knew it was a dull answer, but it was the truth. "My family died when I was young; my uncle Coulson raised me in a government facility to keep me from sharing the same fate. I lost so many people, so I just don't want to keep losing people, or allow anyone else to share that fate." He looked down at the Cloak and sighed. "That's what led me down this path."
Bruce nodded as he understood where the kid was going with this information. He was someone who lost his parents at a young age and now works with everything he's got to keep others from sharing the same fate.
"I lost my parents...that pain made me what I am. I'm not sure I know who I am without it actually." Bruce admitted.
Peter shrugged as he saw there were some similarities between him and the Dark Knight.
"I spent a lifetime fighting the kind of people who took them away from me," Bruce commented. "You? Sounds like the fate of everything hangs on your shoulders."
Peter Supreme shrugged. "Not really. There are others. Not many of us, but there are a few other people that are like me."
"But you're here alone." Bruce reminded him.
"When a godlike being comes down and says you're our best hope, it's not exactly best to question him." Peter Supreme shrugged with a sigh.
"So... what is the plan?" Bruce asks.
"I thought if I could locate Web-Man using a tracking spell, I could maybe locate Lex and we could kill two birds with one stone. But...whatever his signature is, it's hidden from me." Peter Supreme admitted the plan failed.
"Well, can't find Web-Man - a stupid name by the way," Bruce told him.
"I didn't name him." Peter rolled his eyes.
"Then we should look for Luther's armor," Bruce stated.
"Okay, but even if we do, then what's next?" Peter Supreme asks. "That armor is too powerful to stop, and he's likely to have an army of Adaptoids with him. And we don't even know if the Super Adaptoid was destroyed or not."
"We have an idea," Gwen said as she came back with Lena and Felicity. She showed off the power-dampening bracelets that have been turned into small chips. "We tampered with the power-dampening wristbands and now made them compatible with anything."
"Put it on a bullet, an arrow, just about anything," Lena explained the genius behind it. "All it needs to do is make contact with the Adaptoids or Lex's armor and-"
"If he uses his spider senses, he catches it, he will lose his powers. He doesn't have time to catch it, it hits his armor, and still gets the same result." Peter was shocked to see that as he looked it over. "It won't activate in our hands?"
"It'll only activate when thrown or shot," Felicity confirmed as she took it back. "We're going to start making a few dozen of these things but use them sparingly. We don't have an endless amount."
"Well, I guess the only thing left is A.I.M. themselves." Barry sighed. "They still have everyone believing we're the bad guys."
"What if we showed them the truth?" Diggle asks. "Show them what A.I.M. has been doing to these people?"
"How do you suppose we do that?" Patty asks.
Peter had an idea as he looked over to Bruce. "Hey, Bruce...your suit still records everything?"
"Never turned the function off. Proven too useful in the past." Bruce shrugged. "And I think I know what you're thinking, and you are nuts. I told you; I'm done."
"Look, Bruce, we need to show everyone A.I.M. aren't who they say they are, Lex openly admitted he has faked Tarelton to run their operations." Peter tried to talk his friend back into the game. "We lost too many people, lost too many friends to quit now. Come on, Batman. One last fight to save them all. You in?"
Bruce sighed as he stood up and grabbed onto the railing. He considered Peter's words and looked over to Kate in her container. She could have died, but she actually was alive. If he had looked into it like he should have, he could have possibly saved her ten years ago. He ignored his responsibilities, and it led him here. But being out there again after all these years, it felt like he was back at what he was meant to do. He looked down at all of the powerless people and their three metahumans with powers and the kids who just come back in.
"Well, you're all nuts. So... You wanna get nuts?" Bruce decided that they could use him. "Let's get nuts."
Web-Man yelled in anger as he threw a desk across the room. Lex sighed as he was removing his armor as it went into his watch.
"They blew everything." Web-Man groaned in anger. "The Super Adaptoid was lost."
"It was just a prototype," Lex tells him. He didn't want to anger someone who could kill him. "We can make more. We still have the code, and the heroes will eventually come out of hiding or will be spotted somewhere."
"Unless they're planning something," Web-Man stated. "Their reappearance has begun to change the tide against A.I.M. Attacking a school didn't exactly help us."
"They're a few wannabe heroes." Lex wasn't threatened. "What can they possibly do?"
All of a sudden, the television screens in Lex's office began to glitch and they saw a pointy-headed figure in the static. They saw a few small images and flickers of someone, but they weren't sure of who it was.
"Is this thing on?" Lena's voice became clear. "I think it's on." Then Lena became clear as she sighed and was standing in the middle of the Batcave, seemingly alone other than Felicity who was handling the broadcast. Lyla, Sue, and Patty were there in case A.I.M. came after them or tracked the broadcast. "This is Lena Luthor. I know that my name doesn't exactly have the best record for the truth, but here it is...for the past ten years, I have been working for the resistance to try and take down the organization of Advanced Idea Mechanics."
All across Central City, everyone was watching in shock as nobody had seen Lena in quite a while. Yuri smiled when she saw this and knew that this was the beginning of something.
"I know they have made themselves out to be some heroes, but I want to show you something that can discredit them."
The screen flickered again, and the facility became clear to them. Luckily Peter Supreme and Alex also recorded things with cameras in their own suits to get a few different angles and show off everything.
"A.I.M. promised to cure these Metahumans and set them free, but that was a lie. They're using their gifts for their own experiments. And it didn't stop there..."
The footage changed so it now showed off what Bruce found with Captain Kramer. Then it changed to show when Gwen and Peter Supreme found all of the heroes caged and being drained of power.
"They have been taking heroes, imprisoning them, and then draining them of their power."
Then the footage jumps to when Alex comes across Elena in her cell. She was shivering in her cell and looking defenseless and scared of everything.
"This one...this is the daughter of Supergirl."
Then it cuts to when they got out of the facility and showed when Elena first touched the sunlight.
"This is the first time that she ever made it outside. Ever felt the sun touch her skin. These are the people that you're protecting...and that's not where it ends."
Then it jumps to when Lex came crashing in to attack everyone.
"I should have known." Peter snarled. "Tarlton is one of yours?"
"I am Tarlton!" Lex proclaimed proudly. "You thought some wannabe could come up with something as amazing as all of this?"
Barry then sped over and punched his helmet, causing it to break a little. "You killed all of our friends, kidnapped innocent people, heroes...so you could pretend to be one!?"
"Become you?" Lex laughed at his face. "I'm better than all of them!"
"Lex has been using you. My brother killed innocent metahumans, children, daughters, fathers, mothers. It's time you stopped listening to him and realize the truth. Lex wants you to fear them, for metahumans to run in fear, but now it's time for us to rise up. He can't take us alone. This ends here and now... we need your help. Please, this is the time to rise and we can stop A.I.M. together."
Seems that the controversy with the fact it was Lex Luthor behind everything led to public outrage. Everyone started to almost immediately turn against the Adaptoids and anything to do with A.I.M.
At the police station, Kramer watched everything and saw this wasn't going to go over well. Yuri kicked open the door to her office as she looked at her facing the window.
"You got anything to say for yourself?" Yuri asks her.
"I did everything for the sake of my city," Kramer stated.
"Poor excuse to sell children to Lex Luthor, knowing his entire history," Yuri stated as she pulled out some handcuffs. "Kristen Kramer, you're under arrest for being an accomplice to mass murder."
"You honestly think this will help?" Kramer asks as Yuri cuffed her. "You turned your back to the people of this city."
"No." Yuri denied that statement as she led Kramer to the cells. "I stopped turning my back and finally decided to do something about it."
Meanwhile, the Batwing was flying across the sky and making its way towards Central City. With the recent news, it didn't take long for many people within A.I.M. to begin turning their backs on the organization and leaking where Lex was hiding.
"Okay, so what's the plan?" Peter Supreme asks as he flies outside of the Batwing.
"From the scanners, there are about a dozen Adaptoids on every block," Bruce reported to the team. "I'll stay airborne and take out their air support."
"Okay, me and Barry will make our way to Lex's headquarters," Peter said as he looked at the kids. "I still say this is a bad idea."
"The kids can handle their own." Barry defended. "Besides, you wanted to tell the daughter of Kara Zor-El she can't fight the men who tortured her?"
"Fair point," Peter muttered. He didn't want to get his face lasered off or frozen by her ice breath. "Okay, but again, we will engage Lex, depower him, and remember Barry, keep that bracelet on or those dampeners will work on us and take our powers away."
"And the last thing we need is for you to lose my powers." Frost scoffed. "You know, for the fifth time."
"We got projectiles!" Alex alerted them.
A missile came flying towards them, which caused Peter Supreme to fly ahead of them and create a portal leading into the middle of the entire battle. When the missile exploded, it still caused some backfire as some of the smoke and flames came back through the portal. Then out of nowhere, the military and a lot of the cops' weapons were fired upon them in the sky.
"Are they still mad at us or something?" Bruce asks.
"I don't think they know we're on their side." J'onn defended as he flew outside their ship.
"Well, we're approaching the drop zone," Bruce warned them. He then activated the eject mechanism. "Good luck out there."
Bruce then flew the Batwing in low where they were immediately fired upon by both people and Adaptoids. But the humans stopped shooting when the doors opened up and Barry came running out at full speed.
Everyone else exited the ship as well and immediately began to open fire on the Adaptoids and tried their best to protect the people. Frost exited the ship and the first thing that she did was start forming an ice slide to get the high ground and open fire. Peter then came out and shot several Adaptoids in the face with his webbing, which gave Tina and Tommy the chance to run in and tackle the robot, then punch it in the face with all of their strength. That was enough to break right through their protective steel and break them down from within.
Ashley then ran out of the ship and her eyes began to glow and she began to use her metahuman powers. She ran up to the first Adaptoid that she saw which conveniently began to malfunction. Using this as an opening, Ashley grabbed it by the arm and yanked it off before then throwing it at another Adaptoid that was aiming its blaster palm at her. When she hit it in the face with the arm, it sent the blaster to a handful of other Adaptoids.
Felicia sighed as she stood up and looked at the robot carnage that her daughter laid down like it was nothing. "Now that's what I call bad luck."
Barry sped through the robot army and every time he came across one, all he needed to do was phase through it and it would malfunction and break. Dawn, who hasn't mastered phasing, went for a different approach and would openly push the Adaptoids into the fire of one another.
Elena flew around and slammed into the Adaptoids that she came across as Alex, Gwen, Diggle, Matt, and Kelly were focusing on evacuating the area. While they were working on that, Peter Supreme was working on a faster way to rid the streets of them as fast as possible. He summoned the Bolts of Balthakk and targeted them directly towards the Adaptoids.
Dawn was running down the street and giggling as she was having a blast with this newfound power. But that was when the Super Adaptoid returned, revealed to have only sustained a few minor injuries from the explosion they left it in. Dawn ran as fast as she could to try and escape it, but Barry sped right past her, grabbing his daughter in one swift motion, and kept going as he tried to outrun the Super Adaptoid.
"Guys, it's the Super Adaptoid! It's not dead!" Barry warned everyone.
"That's not good!" Peter Supreme cried as he landed on the ground where he then used Winds of Watoomb to block off the scanners and gave Peter an opening to go running in and fight them off. "The Super Adaptoid learns and literally adapts to everything. If he's still here, the same trick won't work twice."
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" Frost exclaimed as she blasted another one of the Adaptoids. "What can we do to stop him?"
"How did you stop him before?" Gwen asked as she webbed an Adaptoid and yanked it onto the floor.
"I basically did what he would have least expected and used the Cloak to block his vision," Peter recalled his battle against the Super Adaptoid in his world. "But that won't work, he has X-ray vision this time around."
"Then what can we do?" J'onn asks.
"Do the unpredictable!" Peter Supreme went with a straightforward answer.
Elena was taking the brunt of the blaster fire as she shielded the civilians when she glanced upward, and spotted Lex perched atop the A.I.M. building in his War suit. Her eyes narrowed in anger, and without hesitation, she took off at high speeds, leaving everyone else behind.
"Superkid, where are you going?" Tina asks as she grabs an Adaptoid by the leg.
"She's going to take on Luthor." J'onn recognized where she was going.
"I thought that was our job!" Peter exclaimed as he roundhouse-kicked another Adaptoid.
"I got an idea," Bruce said as he flew around, shooting a grapple hook from his jet at two transports full of Adaptoids. "You are saying it can't fight if it can't see our attacks?"
"Yes, but it has X-Ray vision; so, blocking its eyesight won't be enough." Peter Supreme reminded as he used his shields to protect some civilians trying to escape.
Bruce said with a grin, "I'm not planning on blocking his eyesight."
When Bruce flew over to the Super Adaptoid, he used his missiles and shot them out. When they made contact with the Super Adaptoid, it left a giant cloud of smoke surrounding him. Barry saw what Bruce was planning and ran right into the smoke, punching the Super Adaptoid in the face.
Elena flew all the way to the top of the building and stared at Lex with hatred in her eyes. Lex wasn't exactly pleased to see her either, because this was the man who had tortured her and her family for years.
Lex snarled at his own ignorance. "I should have killed you and stripped your DNA of your powers when I had the chance." He growled in frustration. "No matter how many times I squash you pathetic Kryptonian cockroaches, you still find a way to ruin my plans."
"Give up, Lex." Elena snarled at him. "You've lost."
"Well, you're just like your parents," Lex scoffed. "Always trying to go out with a bang." Then he charged up his fist. "Allow me to help you with that."
Lex then punched Elena in the face and sent her flying across the city. He then flew at super speed towards her and punched her yet again.
Back on the ground floor, Kelly ran toward an Adaptoid and punched it in the face with her shield. But as she did so, she found herself cornered when she raised her shield to block off an attack. She ended up keeping it up as the dozens of Adaptoids continued to come at her and shoot her while she kept her shield raised.
Then out of nowhere, a silver shield came out of nowhere and was helping her when she saw that it was Jimmy Olsen. He was wearing his version of the Guardian attire and was helping his sister.
"Hey, sis," Jimmy said.
Kelly gasped in surprise; she couldn't believe Jimmy was there. "How did you get here?"
Down the street, a breach opened, and another familiar face strolled out. "Oh, you know..." Cisco Ramon, Vibe, said as he shot out a vibe blast at the Adaptoids. "He asked for a ride."
Frost was shocked when she saw that Cisco was back. "Cisco!"
"Who missed me?" Cisco asked with a chuckle.
"How'd you know where to come?" Peter asked as he walked over and hugged Cisco.
Cisco said, "You broadcasted that message everywhere. Now, why don't we go kick some robot ass?" He then remembered something. "Oh, and Alex, hope you don't mind...brought a few other friends."
"Who?" Alex asks.
That was when Alex was backhanded by one of the Adaptoids and sent flying. When she got to one knee and noticed the Adaptoid, it was immediately shot down by several gunshots. Looking over where the shots were coming from, she was shocked to see that it was coming from Eliza Danvers who was carrying a shotgun.
"Mom?" Alex was shocked to see her mother had come to be a part of this.
"Think I wouldn't see my granddaughter on the news and want to help out?" Eliza questioned in a snarky tone. Then one of the Adaptoids came in and tried to attack her from behind, but Eliza used the gun and punched it in the face before shooting it in the neck, taking the Adaptoid down. "You'd think in another life I was a Kryptonian."
"I would pay to see that." Matt scoffed and spun his Bo in his hands. "Yet again, I'd pay to see anything."
Bruce was flying around when he saw that Elena and Lex were now fighting in the air, with Elena quickly using her heat vision to try and kill him. But Lex used Dreamer's powers to conjure up a shield to block the attack. Seemed even though they disconnected everyone, he still had enough power in his suit to try and take them on. Bruce flew in and shot a grapplehook at the back of Lex's War suit to try and take him down.
But that was a mistake as all Lex proceeded to do was spin around and grab onto the rope that he flung with the grapple. Then Lex used the powers of Jefferson Pierce and Electro to send a gigantic shockwave of energy towards the Batwing. When the Batwing was hit with all of that energy, Bruce was beginning to lose control.
"I'm going down," Bruce warned the team. "I gotta eject."
Bruce then proceeded to do just that as he ejected from the Batwing and used his cape to slowly glide down just seconds before Lex proceeded to use the Batwing as a bat and swung it at Elena. When she was smacked with the Batwing, it not only shattered it to a dozen pieces falling onto Central City, but it caused Elena to get dazed. Then Lex came and slammed into her, sending the two of them flying right into CatCo.
While the Super Adaptoid was trying to figure out exactly where that attack came from, Peter came swinging in and kicked it in the face. He then used a portal to bring Gwen in, who also swung at the Adaptoid. She kicked it in the face just as Peter Supreme used another portal to get her out of the battle.
"Magic!" Gwen exclaimed as she fell through the portal. Meanwhile, the Super Adaptoid was trying to figure out what had happened when Peter Parker opened another portal behind it while it was facing away. Suddenly, Gwen appeared behind it, grabbed its head, spun around, and kicked its chest plate before leaping through a portal. "Magic!"
Gwen then tried to escape through the portal, but the Super Adaptoid grabbed her by the hood. He then slammed her into the ground where she groaned, and the smoke began to clear up.
"No!" Peter Supreme cried in terror.
He then suddenly became extremely defensive; he then used the Icy Tendrils of Ikthalon as an attack strategy. He summoned a strange tentacle-like creature from the depths of the Earth, and it grabbed onto the Super Adaptoid, slamming the robot into the ground at full speed. In the confusion of the attack, Gwen managed to get away, and Batman came gliding down.
Bruce came down and placed a small detonator on the back of the robot before using his grappling hook to crawl around him. When he did, he used some of his explosive gel and sprayed it all around the Super Adaptoid. When Bruce jumped off of the robot, he was grabbed by his cape and then smashed into the ground.
Standing up on his feet, Bruce glared at the robot and raised his detonator in his hand. "Boom," he said with a smile.
When he clicked the detonator button, it exploded and the fire engulfed the entire Super Adaptoid, sending pieces of it scattering across the street. Bruce started to sigh in relief when he saw that the Super Adaptoid had finally been destroyed. Bruce sighed as he looked up to CatCo and noticed the gaping hole in the side.
"Spider-Man. Flash. It's about time we end this." Bruce reported to them.
Lex and Elena slammed into CatCo and she was sent skidding across the counters. Lex then stood tall and looked over his War suit and saw the damage that she and Batman had done to it.
"You think that you can stop me?" Lex asks as he charges up a Kryptonian blast. "The real Supergirl couldn't stop me!"
Before he could fire the gun, he felt his suit's spider senses alert him of two incoming attacks. Barry came running up the side of the building and crashed through the window where he proceeded to throw a dampener chip towards him. Peter came swinging oppositely and threw a chip of his own and they both began to fly towards Lex. However, rather than catching them as they hoped he would, Lex blasted them with his suit's weapons.
Peter and Barry proceeded to make their way over to Elena and help her stand as she was weakened from the fight. "Did you think that a dampener was all it would take to defeat me?" Lex asks them. "You're both dumber than you look."
"Oh, no, we didn't." Barry shrugged.
Peter said with a grin under the mask. "You see, you made a mistake."
"And what's that?" Lex asks.
"We know our power's limits." Peter and Barry stated.
Then as Lex was distracted with them, he didn't sense the danger approaching from behind. A batarang was thrown from across the way and it slammed right into the back of Lex's suit. The suit began to fritz as there was not only a power dampener on that Batarang, but it was also an electrically charged Batarang.
Lex ripped off the chest piece of his armor and managed to take off the batarang in the process. But that also meant that he no longer had access to any of the other heroes' powers. When Lex was trying to pry the Batarang from his armor, Barry sped both Peter and Elena out of the building and activated the shutdown protocol.
The entire building began to close off as the lights began to flicker. Lex started to become a little spooked as he aimed his gauntlet around the room to try and catch whatever was going on.
"You believed if you take away real heroes, then the world will accept you as their only choice." Bruce's voice echoes in the room, scaring Lex as he tries to locate the Dark Knight. "But the world will never accept you as a hero, Luthor. You have done too many bad deeds. Too many skeletons are shoved in your overflown closet."
"Like you? You're not a hero. You're a freak. You're a disgrace. You sided with them over your own kind!" Lex cried as he shot at the ceiling to try and find him.
But that turned out to just be a bad idea as all it did was fill the room up with smoke and debris in the area. Then out of nowhere, a fist came out of the smoke and punched Lex across the face. When Lex stumbled back a little, he shot into the debris to shoot Batman.
"You're right," Bruce said, getting Lex to look around to try and find him. "I am no hero." Lex couldn't seem to find him, no matter where he turned to look. "But I am not a disgrace." Then out of nowhere, a fist grabbed Lex by the neck and raised him off of the ground. When the dust cleared, the flickering lights revealed that Batman was holding him up by his throat. "I am vengeance." He snarled at Lex. "I am the night." He then brought Lex close to his face to look and see the terror in his eyes. "I AM BATMAN!"
Then Bruce took Lex and ran over towards the window and tossed him out of it. Luckily it wasn't that far of a drop, and there were a few dozen web nets that Peter set up to catch Lex. He fell to the ground and slammed into the ground where he was immediately surrounded by all of the heroes.
Frost came forward and shot ice at him as a warning shot. Cisco came in through a breach as everyone close followed behind him. Tina and Tommy leaped out and crouched like a tiger ready to pounce.
"Oh, what the hell?" Lex asks as he gets up to his feet.
"Ready to give up, Lex?" Patty asks.
"Never!" Lex proclaimed. "I'll end the lives of each and every one of you!"
"Then you better add a few extra people to that," Yuri called out, getting everyone to look and notice that she, the police force, an entire crowd of people, and even a few metahumans approached them. That mercury steel girl. Andrea Rojas. "Because we're standing with them."
Lex looked around at all of the people, everyone who was willing to die to help defend and protect these heroes who would give their all for these people. Lex however didn't have much time to consider as with him being de-powered, Peter Supreme stepped in and shot him with the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak and wrapped him up.
Gwen stepped forward and poked Lex, causing him to fall and knock his head against the ground. "We'll take him from here."
Peter Supreme picked him up and watched as Lex was muttering something through the binds. "He's an anomaly to all of history." He then looked over to Lex and almost snarled at him. "We'll deal with him the proper way."
Everyone then began to cheer at the victory and even a few clapped as many cheered the names of the heroes. Bruce even used his grapple to make his way downward, rather than sneak away as he would usually. It was time that the Dark Knight stepped out of the shadows. Even if it were only for just a moment.
Cisco laughed as he crossed his arms. "Feels like old times, doesn't it?"
Peter chuckled as he pat Cisco on the back. "Just like old times."
Meanwhile, Web-Man watched everything from the top of a building and sighed when he saw that the heroes had found a way to fight back. Even after years of never fighting back, the heroes still found a way to fight back and managed to take all of their work.
Web-Man then activated a small hologram and Agent H became clear. "Sir, Lex Luthor has been captured."
Peter H sighed as he rubbed his head. "Luthor will always believe he is the smartest." He then looked to his agent. "Did we at least get something out of this?"
Web-Man then showed off that he managed to steal the War suit chest plate with the technology. "All we need to create an army."
"Then return to base." Peter H demanded him. "And activate Resurrect Protocol."
"It will be done," Web-Man replied.
Web-Man then placed the device on his belt and quickly used his watch to open a portal back to his dimension. But before he did, he pulled out a small device and pushed a button.
Back down with the celebrating heroes, Lex started to spaz out, causing Peter and Gwen to run over and drop to his side to figure out what is wrong. They were trying to save Lex's life, hoping to get more information out of him about the Spider Society, but it was too late as Lex was killed in the middle of the street.
A WEEK LATER:
Peter Supreme and Gwen were helping take the rest of A.I.M. and their facilities down with the help of Batman and what was left of the DEO. Or at least what is left for now. With the death of A.I.M., J'onn was able to get the DEO on a fast track to a comeback. All of the heroes were beginning to slowly wake up, those who at least survived. Sadly, they couldn't wake Constantine back up or Grodd. They were too far gone and lost too much of their energy to wake back up. Felicia even introduced Ashley as Peter's daughter, and the two came to a parental share agreement. Felicia knew she was ill-equipped to handle a child full-time, and Peter would love and cherish her. So, he would house and keep her safe, while Felicia dropped in whenever she could. I mean, her criminal history has been wiped clean thanks to her helping out in the resistance. And Yuri was even promoted to the new Captain of the CCPD. The same goes for Aaron, who has been given a clean slate from his years of being the Prowler.
"Oh, it feels so good to be free again!" Frost cheered as she stretched her arms to the start of the new day. But when she made her way outside the bedroom, she was expecting to see the family but found it was actually empty. "Where did everyone go?"
Then as she walked around, she spotted a note that was on the counter: 'Hey, Frost. There's a package at the end of the bed. Open it and put on what's inside, then come over to Joe's place. We're going to throw a bit of a celebration on your behalf.'
"Celebration?" Frost wasn't sure what to make of that. "Caity, you know what's going on?"
"Oh, I do," Caitlin reported in Frost's mind. "But I am not one to spoil the surprise."
Frost was seriously confused about what was going on as she walked into the bedroom and spotted the package on the bed. When she opened the package, she was a little confused when she found there was an ice-blue dress inside.
"What the hell?" Frost wasn't sure what was going on, but she thought that it would be a joyful one.
When she got dressed up, she walked out of the apartment, Frost found a portal waiting right outside that would lead right into Joe's place. She was guessing that they didn't want her walking around in public or wrinkling this dress by driving or ice gliding. Walking through the portal, she ended up needing to crouch a little since it was just a foot smaller than her, something Peter Supreme didn't account for when making it was, he made it for his size, and he was still a few feet smaller than most of them.
When Frost entered Joe's place, she was amazed and shocked to see all of the ice-themed stuff around the room. Then when she looked around, she saw everyone else was in formal attire, making her wonder exactly what it was that was happening. Everyone seemed to be there. Nia, Gwen, Wally, Frankie, Jefferson, everyone they found in that facility, and every other facility that was holding a friend of theirs.
"What is going on?" Frost asks the group.
"Well...it's been ten years since we last saw you..." Felicity said as she approached and handed Frost a bouquet of flowers. "And I sadly missed the first one, so...the loving husband of yours thought that it would be a great time for a... renewal ceremony."
"Renewal ceremony?" Frost asks. "Don't we need Caity, not me?"
"Nope." Barry stepped forward with a chuckle. "This wedding is all for you."
"And we know it's not necessary, but I am the maid of honor this time around. We pulled straws, and I won. It's happening. Go with it." Felicity was happy to announce.
'Trust me, they almost fought over it." May announced as she stepped forward and hugged Frost. "Oh, I have missed you."
"I have missed you, too, May." Frost was so happy to see May back in Central City.
"Frost." Harry was also there, standing aside to Jesse. "We all missed you."
"But someone here missed you most of all," Felicia said as she gestured to the front of the room. "Before he sees you, come on." She then dragged her out of the room and up the stairs before Peter spotted her.
Peter chuckled as he at least heard everything and stood next to Cisco, who was standing in for them to finish this ceremony. Tina and Tommy were talking and hanging out with Ashley, Dante, and Dawn. Elena was also there, but she was still trying to get out of that bubble she placed herself into after years of being alone. Alex has taken Elena in with Kelly so that they can try and help her live a normal life.
"The next generation of Justice right there." Barry quipped. "How do you feel about that?"
"They are gonna need a lot more training. But...they're gonna do just fine." Peter could tell they were going to be amazing.
"If they're anything like their parents, then we are certainly doomed." Kate Kane snarked as she was standing aside from her cousin. "No hope."
"After everything we went through, you really want to say that there is no hope?" Bruce asks.
May chuckled as she approached Harry and leaned on him. "You know, maybe we should renew our vows."
"You are kidding?" Harry asks her in surprise. "You got me to say yes once, you wanna risk a second time?"
May chuckled as she just pecked him on the cheek and strolled around. Peter Supreme looked towards this world's May Parker and had a touch of envy. He wished he got to know the May Parker of his world. And in some realities, he actually does get that chance. But in his life, he never did...
"You okay?" Gwen asks as she approaches her boyfriend.
"Yeah, just..." Peter Supreme sighed and tried to shake it off. "I hate weddings."
"You do?" Gwen was surprised to hear that.
"Well, renewal ceremonies, I guess." Peter Supreme corrected himself. "Depends on who's wedding, of course. You should see the timeline where May marries into Jameson's family."
Gwen chuckled and saw the ceremony was about to commence. "Wait, May married who?"
"Alright, if I can draw everyone's attention to the stairway," Cisco called everyone to face the stairs.
Frost made her way down, Felicity close behind, and it seemed the girls did her hair for the moment. Frost walked down and she found Thomas was waiting for her at the bottom. She wasn't sure when her parents arrived, but it seemed that both of them were indeed there. Yet again, with Peter Supreme able to open portals anywhere in the universe, they could have literally arrived at any time.
Frost then approached Peter and couldn't help but smile. "All this for me?"
"We're just happy to have you back and thought this was the best way to show it." Peter justified everything.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen, we are here to witness the greatest comeback since Robert Downey Jr." Cisco started off the ceremony, giving everyone either a giggle or a moment of pause for how awful that was. Peter thought it was funny, but Fost on the other hand almost gagged. "As Peter and Crystal renew their vows for...wait, does this count as first time or second time?"
"We're counting this as the second time," Barry assured his friend.
"I was just as confused," Ralph admitted.
"Yeah, feels less like renewing and more a second ceremony." Nia had to admit she felt the same.
"Moving on!" Cisco cried out to silence everyone. "We know Frost didn't even get a head up so has nothing to say, but that's okay since we all know that you have been asleep for ten years and only woke up a week ago." He then gave Peter a pat on the back. "But it's this guy who has a lot to say. Take it away, man."
Peter nodded and looked at Frost. "Frost...ever since we met...you were a mystery." He reached up and cupped her cold cheek. "I never knew what to think about you. But over time, I have grown to care for you just as much as I do for Caitlin. Not just because you are a part of her, but because you are smart, snarky, quippy, and almost everything that Caitlin is not. No offense, Cait."
"None taken," Caitlin assured, even though Peter couldn't hear her.
"And these last ten years without you by my side has been hard. Every time I went to sleep, I knew you were suffering. That's why I put all of this together. Because today, it's when I promise to continue loving you and Cait now and forever."
Frost was in tears to that as Cisco pat him on the back again. "That was decent enough. Ten points to Ravenclaw." He then sighed as the two each other's hands. "Do you, Crystal Frost, Peter Parker, take each other to cherish and to love in good times and the bad for all days of your life?"
"I do," Frost stated.
"You know I do," Peter said with a smile.
"Alright then, by the power vested in me by a last-minute internet web search, I pronounce you husband and wife. For the first time…the second time again." Cisco said to his friends. Everyone clapped their hands and was happy for the couple. "Am I forgetting something?"
"The kissing part!" Jesse informed him.
"Oh, yeah, that's right," Cisco said and waved his hands around. "Do the thing."
Peter and Frost chuckled as they then leaned closer and went for a passionate kiss. They kissed and the entire world seemed to almost freeze around them as they kissed. It had been ten years since they had been separated and they weren't going to waste a second of it.
While Peter and Gwen were still clapping, they felt their senses warning them that something was waiting for them outside. It wasn't a threat; it was more like an invitation of sorts. As they watched the end of the ceremony, they made their way out of the house and saw the Watcher standing in the middle of the street.
Peter Supreme asked, "Aren't you concerned about being spotted?"
"Please." The Watcher seemed almost offended by that. "I am the Watcher. If someone were to see me, they would have to know what they are looking for."
"Like Agent H?" Gwen asks.
"Touche." Watcher sighed and looked around at the world. "Seems you did a good job. A.I.M. is destroyed, and every trace of the Society's influence is finally gone."
"All in a day's work," said Peter Supreme. "I just wish we could get some information out of Lex."
"He was already meant to be dead in this world. If I were to bring him back, it would risk too much." The Watcher was sorry to say. "But we will have more opportunities in the future."
The Watcher then opened up a portal for them to travel through to the next world. Before they could jump in, Barry and Peter found their way outside, where they saw them leaving.
"What, were you going to leave without saying goodbye?" Barry asks as he approaches the two.
"Goodbye would mean that we won't be seeing each other again." Peter Supreme shrugged. "Likely we will run into one another again."
"So, it's more of a till we meet again." Gwen shrugged.
"We can't thank you enough," Peter told them. "Our fight seems to finally be over, but I have a feeling yours isn't."
"It's only beginning." Peter Supreme was sorry to say.
"Well, if you need any help, you know where to find us," Barry said.
"We'll keep that in mind," Gwen assured them.
Peter Supreme then pointed to the portal. "It's been fun, but our ride is leaving."
Barry and Peter nodded as they began to walk back into the house to keep going with the ceremony. Peter Supreme and Gwen however knew that even though this world was saved, there were likely millions still in danger with the threat of the Spider Society out there. Running towards the portal, they leaped inside and were now heading for the next new dimension.
After this whole adventure, who knows what kind of world we'll encounter next?
