Chp 7. The Meeting of Two Broken Souls

It had been three weeks since Kiryu had fought Valentino. Angel Dust tried to help Kiryu handle his trauma during those three weeks it was a rigorous challenge for both of them especially Kiryu. However, Valentino's actions may never be truly gone from Kiryu's mind their now much easier for him to manage. Sadly as a result of Kiryu's action both V-Tower and the Hazbin Hotel had their share of shitty reporters at their doorstep. Thankfully Alastor could keep them at bay due to his status and long history in Hell as the Radio Demon. As for V-Tower Vox had his ways of keeping them away. Currently, Kiryu was lying in his bed staring at the ceiling waiting for Alastor to come and finally begin their training. Until his phone rang which startled him as he quickly grabbed it and answered the call.

"Hey kid I don't know what beef you got with the Vees but that's no excuse to miss work for fucks sake what am I even paying your lazy ass for if you didn't even bother to give us a fuckin call?", Blitz said as he was currently in the human world.

"Yeah I'm sorry or whatever", Kiryu said as he rolled his eyes, "what do you want already I'm busy right now", Kiryu said as he grabbed his flask from his nightstand and drank from it.

"Listen I got a job for ya kid all you gotta do is guard a royal's kid for the day I kinda owe him one for reasons..", Blitz said as he was loading his sniper rifle.

"I just said I was busy. Can't Moxxie or Millie do this or hell, even Loona?", Kiryu said as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Yeah, no, can do. Kid MM are out on a hit in the human realm, and me and Loona…aren't exactly on speaking terms right now.", Blitz said as he finally finished getting dressed. Kiryu was about to start to cuss out Blitz when Angel Dust's voice rang in his head.

"The best way to help progress and better manage your trauma is to just do something kid whether it is a job or just hanging out with friends as long as it gets you're mind off of your trauma it helped me maybe it might help you too?", Angel Dust as an image of him and Kiryu sat on his bed ran through his mind.

"Fine...I'll do the fucking job, Blitz just send me the address and I'll be there at the latest.", Kiryu said as he put away his flask and tried to fix his messy hair.

"Thanks, kid don't fuck this up or else you're gonna screw over all of I.M.P haha", Blitz said as he sent Kiryu the address and aimed his sniper rifle at a nearby human and killed them.

"Whatever Blitz", Kiryu said as he hung up the call and looked at the address Blitz sent him, "the Goetia Mansion?... What shit did you get yourself into Blitz.", Kiryu said as he put his phone away and exited his room. Charlie quickly greeted Kiryu just as he closed his door.

"Kiryu! It's so good to see came out of your room!", Charlie said with her usual glow of joy.

"It's nice to see you too Charlie..", Kiryu said as he smiled a bit, "anyway Charlie you think you can do something for me you see I've got a thing my boss wants me to do over at the Goetia Mansion but", Kiryu showed charlie his phone as it red the walk time would be 5-6 hours, "so think you can just teleport me there or something?", Kiryu said as put his phone away and leaned against his door.

"Oh…of course I can Kiryu! Besides it'll do you some good to go out and help get your mind off of...you know what", Charlie said as her smile started to faint but quickly returned, "Get ready Kiryu, and hope you're job goes well!", Charlie said as hell fire quickly started to form a small circle around Kiryu's feet.

"Thanks, Charli-", Kiryu was cut off as the hell fire enveloped Kiryu he suddenly appeared at the front door of the Goetia Mansion, "e….damn that was fast well…time to earn the bacon.", Kiryu said as he sighed deeply and knocked on the door a few times. After a few seconds of waiting a butler opened the door.

"May ask what business you have with the Goetia sir?", the butler said as he held the door opened the door.

"I'm from I.M.P my boss said I had to come here to guard some royal's kid.", Kiryu said, already starting to get annoyed with the butler.

"Ah you must be Kiryu come with me I'll take you to Prince Stolas right away.", the butler said as he held open the door for Kiryu as he walked in. Kiryu was a bit taken aback by the interior of the building.

"Damn….", was Kiryu could say as he was taken aback by the beauty of the interior architecture, "Now it's rude to keep Prince Stolas waiting any longer.", the butler said as he speed-walked. Kiryu followed behind him as the butler led him to the dining room.

"Prince Stolas Kiryu has arrived.", the butler said as Kiryu looked around the dining room taken aback by its beauty as well.

"Wonderful Kiryu please have a seat I have very important matters to attend to so I'll be making this quick.", Stolas said as the butler pulled out a chair for Kiryu to sit down. Kiryu quickly took his seat.

"Like I said I'll make this quick I just need you to guard my daughter Octavia for the day I already know of your rather….violent history Kiryu so if you even lay a finger on any one of her feathers I'll turn you to stone in a instant is that clear?", Stolas said this time in a very serious tone.

"Uhhh…very clear yup.", Kiryu said with a slight stutter.

"Excellent now follow me I'll take you to Octavia's room personally.", Stolas said as Kiryu followed behind him. As they grew closer to Octavia's room music could be heard emanating from her room.

"Is that…music?", Kiryu asked as he and Stolas walked side-by-side.

"Yes….she's been taking a liking to that….punk rock, I believe?", Stolas said with a confused look on his face, "surely you'll understand. Blitzy did say that you two were the same age now.", Stolas said as he looked down at Kiryu.

"Blitzy…and same age?", Kiryu asked with a slight smirk across his face, trying hard not to laugh at Blitz's nickname. While also slightly confused by the last bit Stolas mentioned. But Kiryu couldn't pounder on that thought any longer as he and Stolas reached Octavia's room. Stolas was the first to knock on the door, causing the music to stop.

"Via dear, may I come in?", Stolas asked as both he and Kiryu stood in front of the door waiting for Octavia's response.

"You can come in now Dad.", Octavia said as the sound of rustling paper could be heard through the door. Stolas opened the door as he and Kiryu walked into Octavia's room. Octavia was on her bed as she was organizing some papers she looked up to see her dad and Kiryu.

"Dad…who's the new guy…..wait...ugh?", Octavia asked as she pointed at Kiryu who was currently a bit preoccupied with taking in the beauty of the architecture again.

"Now Via I know you're against the idea of having someone guard you for today-", Stolas said as Octavia cut him off.

"I told you multiple times Dad I don't need a-", Octavia tried to protest as Stolas cut her off this time.

"It's for your safety Octavia I won't be fighting over this again I've got very important matters to attend to.", Stolas said as the tension in the room grew quick..

"STOLAS YOU FUCKING PRICK!", Stella could be heard through the halls yelling which thankfully broke the tension in the room.

"...shit why today Stella…", Stolas muttered as he face palmed, "I'll be leaving now Kiryu keep her safe.", Stolas said as he left the room and shut the door in a hurry. Kiryu watched Stolas leave then turned his head to Octavia as she still looked pretty pissed.

"You can leave now I won't tell my dad about it.", Octavia said as she went back to organizing her papers.

"I would….but Blitz kinda needs this….Octavia was it?", Kiryu said as he looked at Octavia.

"Yeah…Kiryu.", Octavia said in a monotone voice as she rolled her eyes at him.

"Sooooo….what's with all the papers?", Kiryu asked as he pointed at the stack of papers on Octavia's bed.

"None of you're business.", Octavia said already starting to get annoyed with Kiryu's small talk.

"Alright…alright", Kiryu said as he raised in arms up and then put his hands back in his pockets, "then what's you're plans for today Octavia?", Kiryu asked as he leaned up against the wall.

"I just need to get some shopping done at a few stores and then return home after that you're job will be done and you can leave me alone.", Octavia said as she got out of bed and went into her closet and looked for what to wear today.

"Whatever I'll be outside while you pick your outfit.", Kiryu said as he rolled his eyes and went outside of Octavia's room, leaned up against a wall, pulled out his phone, and started to scroll Voxtagram. After a minute or two of waiting Octavia finally came out of her room. Octavia wore her usual attire of a black beanie hat with a pale yellow tiara design on her head, a pink choker, a pink long-sleeved dress with a pattern of pale yellow stars on it, a black feathery cardigan, and black leggings with heeled boots. Kiryu looked away from his phone as he looked Octavia up and down with a confused expression on his face.

"What something wrong with the way I dress?", Octavia said annoyed with Kiryu eyeing her up and down.

"No, it's just that…since you're royalty I kinda expected some sorta dress or something not….something so casual?", Kiryu said as put his phone away and looked at Octavia as she rolled her eyes at him.

"Just because I'm royalty doesn't mean I wear a dress all the time.", Octavia said as she crossed her arms.

"Noted now you ready to get going now or do you need something else?", Kiryu said as he stopped leaning against the wall.

"No.", Octavia said as she uncrossed her arms and started to walk through the halls heading for the entrance of the Goetia Mansion. Kiryu followed behind her as a few of the workers wished them safe travels. Once they exited the mansion Octavia pulled out her phone and searched for the first place she needed to go to.

"First we'll go to Stylish Occult it'll be a short walk only about 20 minutes or so", Octavia said as she put her phone away, "lead the way then", Kiryu said as they headed towards Stylish Occult. On their way there Kiryu tried to make some small talk as the silence between the two was starting to get a bit too awkward for him.

"Sooo…who was the woman screaming at your father back at the mansion earlier?", Kiryu said as he looked at Octavia.

"She's….my mum.", Octavia said in a somber tone. Kiryu quickly noticed Octavia's sudden change in tone and tried to change the subject quickly.

"Ah….then what was with all those papers you were organizing on your bed?", Kiryu asked desperately awaiting Octavia's response.

"Just some music I was writing", Octavia said in her usual monotone voice, "I was nearly finished with one of my songs but then you and my dad showed up and fucked everything up.", Octavia said as she rolled her eyes.

"You write music?", Kiryu said in a joyous tone, "that's actually pretty cool what type of music do you write?", Kiryu smiled as he looked at Octavia.

"I usually just write depressing punk music, but you're probably not into that.", Octavia said as she looked away.

"I am actually", Kiryu said with a slight chuckle, "back when I was alive, I'd usually end up listening to either Opra, Hard Rock, Punk, and anything alternative too.", Kiryu said with a smile on his face as he reminiscent of listening to said genres on his bed when he was human.

"Oh..guess I misjudged you Kiryu.", Octavia said with a weak smile.

"Then if you write you're own songs do you play any instruments too?", Kiryu said with a smile as he looked at Octavia finally finding some joy in his life after what he's been through.

"Sadly..no but I've been wanting to learn for ages, but do you play anything Kiryu?", Octavia asked as she looked up to Kiryu as they walked.

"I played a bit of guitar and sang a bit although I wasn't the best haha", Kiryu said with a small chuckle, "I was self-taught mainly.", Kiryu said as he reminiscent again of his human self playing a candy apple red electric guitar.

"That's kinda cool actually", Octavia said with a smile on her face, "oh looks like we finally reached Stylish Occult.", Octavia said as she looked at the big logo in front of the store.

"Huh…even Hell has their version of Hot Topic…or Spencers?", Kiryu muttered under his breath as he tilted his head and squinted his eyes.

"You said something?", Octavia asked disrupting Kiryu's train of thought.

"Nothing…nothing let's head inside.", Kiryu said as he shook his head and followed Octavia inside the store. Once they entered the store Kiryu was proven right. The store had dark walls, dim lighting, and a slightly edgy ambiance. The store was adorned with an extensive collection of band merchandise T-shirts, hoodies, and accessories featuring logos and artwork from popular emo, punk, and alternative bands in Hell. And a very extensive option of clothes such as skinny jeans, studded belts, wristbands, beanies, black lace, chokers, corsets, body jewelry, and backpacks. Kiryu smirked as he looked around then looked back at Octavia as she went to look at their selection of chokers. Kiryu followed Octavia to the chokers and started to look at them himself.

"You looking for anything specific Octavia?", Kiryu asked as he picked up a simple black choker.

"Eh, not really.", Octavia said as she picked up a purple choker and looked at it for a bit, then put it back.

"Hmmm, how about this one?", Kiryu said as he picked up and handed Octavia a black choker with a gold star pattern across it and also had a small gold star hanging in front of it.

"It's nice I'll try it on", Octavia said as he took off her pink choker and put on the one Kiryu handed her then looked into a small mirror nearby, "I like it…..thanks Kiryu.", Octavia said as she took it off and put back on her old pink one on.

"No problem since you've got a whole star theme going on I thought you'd like it.", Kiryu said as she scratched the back of his head and looked away hiding the slight blush on his face. As Kiryu did so something quickly caught his attention. He walked over to a small bin that held a few CDs as Octavia followed suit.

"Something caught you're eye Kiryu?", Octavia asked as she looked into the bin of CDs.

"Yeah, I could have sworn I saw a CD from a band I loved back when I was human.", Kiryu said as he looked through the bin of CDs.

"What's the name I'll help you", Octavia asked, "They were called Skillet.", Kiryu said as now he and Octavia looked through the bin. Sadly, when Kiryu picked up the CD, it wasn't what Kiryu had thought and was an underground punk band in Hell called Four Week Demise. Kiryu put back the CD as he and Octavia stopped their search.

"Well nice they don't have what I was looking for is there anything else you wanna look at Octavia?", Kiryu asked with a defeated tone in his voice.

"I just needed a new choker that's all let's go pay then we'll head to the next store.", Octavia said as she and Kiryu went to check out. Once Octavia paid for the choker the both of them left Stylish Occult.

"So what's the next spot we gotta go to Octavia", Kiryu asked as he saw Octavia put on her new choker and put her old one away, "You mentioned that you played guitar I'd like to hear you play something since there's a guitar store not to far from here…..only if you're okay with it that is.", Octavia said with a slight stutter in her voice at the end.

"Sure although I may be a bit rusty it's been a while since I've played anything haha", Kiryu said with a weak laugh, "That's alright with me Kiryu.", Octavia said as both of them walked to the guitar store. It was a very short walk as it only took them about 7 minutes. Once they reached inside of the store Kiryu was the first to enter as Octavia followed suit. Once Kiryu saw the rack of guitars on the wall it immediately caught his attention and Octavia's too. Kiryu picked up a simple black electric guitar. He tuned the guitar, plugged it into a nearby amp, and fiddled with the settings until they were right for what he was about to play.

"You got any specific song in mind Kiryu?", Octavia asked as she looked at Kiryu getting into position to properly play.

"Hmmm…", Kiryu said as he closed his eyes and tried to think of a song. Finally, a song came to mind and Kiryu got his claws on the second fret of the neck of the guitar and plucked the first and second strings. Once Kiryu was ready he started to play the song slowly at first but once he reached the chorus of the song he finally got into it and started to go all out. Octavia bobbed her head as she may not have had a clue what Kiryu was playing, but she sure did enjoy it. Once Kiryu reached the final chord he stopped playing and looked at Octavia.

"So how was I?", Kiryu asked as he started to put everything back where it belonged.

"That was really cool Kiryu!", Octavia said with a smile across her face, "but what was the song you were playing Kiryu?", Octavia asked as Kiryu walked to the checkout counter.

"It's called Awake And Alive by Skillet…..it always was my favorite song of theirs.", Kiryu said as he then paid for the guitar, amp, etc., and had it shipped to the Hazbin Hotel. Once Kiryu was finished with that both he and Octavia walked out of the store.

"What's next Octavia?", Kiryu asked as he was starting to enjoy spending time with her.

"I just need to head to a nearby book store then that should be all.", Octavia said as she and Kiryu walked to the bookstore. Although Kiryu may have been hiding it he was a bit saddened to hear that their time was starting to come to an end. Once they reached the store Octavia entered first and Kiryu followed right behind her. Octavia quickly went to one of the nearby shelves filled with books and started to skim through them. Kiryu followed behind her and simply stared at the numerous amounts of options they had.

"Do you like to read as well Kiryu?", Octavia asked as she continued to look for her book.

"A little bit", Kiryu said as he chuckled and scratched the back of his head, "Oh did you have a favorite genera? I've always been more into the occult.", Octavia said as she finally found the book she was looking for.

"If I remember properly….I used to really be into horror?", Kiryu said with an unsure tone of voice.

"I've always had a slight interest in horror too", Octavia said with a smile on her face as he grabbed her book, "but I've finally found the book let's check out then head home.", Octavia said as Kiryu nodded his head. Once Octavia paid for her book, both of them left the bookstore and headed back to the Goetia Mansion. On the way to the mansion, Kiryu asked Octavia about her book, such as what it's about. Before Octavia could answer Kiryu's question, she was rudely interrupted by a news reporter.

"What's the heiress of the Goetia family doing with a sinner?", the reporter said as he shoved a microphone in Octavia's face.

"Get you're microphone away from-", Octavia was about to protest as another reporter showed up.

"What's your relation with this sinner? Friend? Lover? Boy Friend?", the reporter asked they took out their phone to record Octavia's response. Octavia blushed at the last part but before she could answer Kiryu quickly got in front of her as soon as more of the media started to show up.

"She doesn't have to answer any of you're fucking questions to back off.", Kiryu said slowly starting to get angry.

"Or what you'll kill us you fucking maniac!", a reporter said in a snarky tone of voice.

"That's it you piece of shit I-", Kiryu was about to rush at the reporter until Octavia tugged at his jacket.

"It's not worth it Kiryu follow me I've got a plan.", Octavia said as she nodded her head towards a nearby alleyway. Kiryu nodded his head and soon both Kiryu and Octavia rushed towards the alleyway. The media followed them as they made their way to the alleyway. As they did so a cameraman grabbed Octavia's jacket causing her to slip and fall. As soon as she fell Kiryu quickly swooped her into his arms and continued to run. While she was in his arms Octavia could have sworn she felt her heart skip a beat but didn't pay it much attention.

"You alright Octavia?", Kiryu asked with her still in his arms.

"Yeah, just a simple fall..just continue to the alleyway.", Octavia said as she pointed to the alleyway. Once they reached the alleyway Octavia used her magic to make a portal to her room in the Goetia Mansion. Kiryu jumped through the portal as it closed right before the media could make it into the alleyway.

"I.. didn't know you could make portals?", Kiryu said tiredly.

"Yeah…I can…you can put me down now.", Octavia said with a bit of blush in her face.

"Oh yeah sorry haha," Kiryu chuckled as he put Octavia back on her bed, "but you sure you didn't hurt yourself back there?", Kiryu said as he sat next to her on her bed.

"I'm sure Kiryu it's not like I'm made of glass haha.", Octavia said with a slight chuckle.

"I can tell if it weren't for your quick thinking we'd been hella fucked back there haha.", Kiryu laughed. Soon Octavia did too as they both laughed at their earlier situation. Once they were done laughing Octavia looked at Kiryu with a smile on her face.

"Kiryu this is probably the most fun I've had in years", Octavia said as she soon her smile started to fade, "first I thought I was gonna hate spending time with you, but you're a pretty cool guy….", Octavia said as laid back on her bed and starred at the ceiling.

"If I'm gonna be honest with you Octavia…I actually didn't even want to do this job….but now I'm glad as without it I probably wouldn't have been able to meet you.", Kiryu said as he laid on the bed next to Octavia.

"It just sucks that it's over…", Octavia said in a somber tone.

"It doesn't have to be over though…I could always come and visit whenever I got time and we can do all sorts of stuff Octavia.", Kiryu said as he looked over to Octavia with a smile.

"I'd like that Kiryu…", Octavia said with a smile across her face as well, "then what would you like to do first Kiryu?", Octavia asked with a smile across her face as well.

"Hmmm…you mentioned earlier that you were writing a song….can I see it?", Kiryu asked as he looked over to Octavia.

"Sure…but I gotta warn you Kiryu…it may not be the best…I've only made it to the first verse..", Octavia said as she got off the bed and grabbed her stack of papers.

"Even if it's only halfway done I bet it's great Octavia.", Kiryu said as he sat up. Octavia returned to the bed and sat next to Kiryu as she handed Kiryu the papers. Kiryu took his time as he read through the multiple versions that Octavia had written. Once Kiryu was done reading them he looked over at Octavia with a shocked expression on his face.

"It's bad isn't it I-", Octavia was about to downplay herself as Kiryu quickly interrupted her.

"This is great Octavia I really like this page", Kiryu grabbed the 4th version of her song and handed it over to Octavia, "Do you think I could hear you sing it?", Kiryu said as he set the other papers aside.

"I…don't know Kiryu I don't really…sing…it'll probably be best that you sing it you've got experience with that sorta thing.", Octavia said as she looked down at the lyrics somberly.

"Even if I got experience it's your song you should sing it.", Kiryu said as he placed his hand on Octavia's shoulder and then quickly removed it.

"Alright I'll sing it but it won't be any good….and could you close your eyes I still get a bit nervous singing in front of people….", Octavia said with a slight stutter.

"Oh that's perfectly fine by me haha", Kiryu said with a nervous laugh and closed his eyes, "whenever you're ready Octavia.", Kiryu said with his eyes closed and listening closely. With a deep breath, Octavia started to sing.

Octavia looked over to Kiryu once she finished singing the intro to gauge his reaction. Kiryu had a smile on his face. Seeing Kiryu smile gave Octavia a boost to sing the first verse. She took another deep breath and continued to sing.

I'll take you by the hand

And I'll show you a world that you can understand

Octavia took another deep breath as she looked over to Kiryu. He still had that smile as he was nodding his head.

"Alright, Kiryu..now you can open your eyes.", Octavia said as she looked over to Kiryu with a hopeful smile.

"What did you-", Octavia about about to ask Kiryu's thoughts about it but he quickly cut her off.

"Octavia that was amazing!", Kiryu exclaimed, "Come on…I wasn't that good now..", Octavia said trying to downplay herself again.

"It's great Octavia it really is! It just needs some instrumentals, and the other half of the song too, then it'll be perfect how about we work on this together Octavia you can do the vocals and I can work on the instrumentals?", Kiryu said as he looked over to Octavia.

"I mean…are you sure you wanna it's just a dumb song I wrote I don't want to be wasting you're time and-", Octavia was about to continue to downplay herself as Kiryu grabbed both of her arms.

"Octavia you gotta stop downplaying yourself it's a great song and I wanna spend my time working on it with you! Besides it'll give us a reason to hang out too!", Kiryu said with a dumb smile on his face.

"Alright, then Kiryu…if you really wanna help…and hang out then I'll let you help with the song.", Octavia said with a smile on her face.

"Awesome Octavia!", Kiryu said as he let go of her, "this will be the start of something really great I just know it!", Kiryu said with joy.

"You really think so Kiryu?", Octavia said with a smile.

"I'm sure of it.", Kiryu said with a smile as well. Then a knock came to the door.

"Via may I come in?", Stolas said.

"It's open Dad.", Octavia said with a slight chuckle. Stolas walked in with a perplexed expression on his face for a moment.

"Kiryu you're duties have been fulfilled you can take your leave now.", Stolas said with a smile on his face having noticed how…happy Octavia was.

"Damn guess it's already time..", Kiryu said as he got off the bed and started to walk out of Octavia's room before turning to look at Octavia.

"I'll see you again Octavia..whenever I have some free time you can call me whenever you need to too I left my digits on the paper.", Kiryu said as he pointed to the paper Octavia was holding.

"Will do Kiryu!", Octavia said as she waved him goodbye. Once Kiryu started to make his way toward the front door of the Goetic mansion Stolas placed his hand on Kiryu's shoulder stopping him.

"Listen Kiryu…I don't know what you did, but….thank you I haven't seen Via so happy in such a long time….", Stolas said teary-eyed.

"No problem, Your Highness…actually….I haven't been happy myself for a while…but thanks to Octavia…she was able to bring back some joy to my life..", Kiryu said as he looked back at Octavia's room, "now I should really get going it's a long walk back to the Hazbin Hotel.", Kiryu said as he looked up at Stolas he whipped the tears away.

"Nonsense Kiryu I'll cast a portal so you can get there in an instant…and please call me Stolas.", Stolas said as he started to cast a portal on a nearby wall.

"Thanks, Stolas..", Kiryu said as he entered the portal once it had finished and waved Stolas goodbye as it closed. Kiryu headed straight to his room, still humming Octavia's song. As he opened the door, he saw what he had ordered on the ground next to his bed. He smiled as he got into bed and started to sleep, still humming Octavia's song, too.

First thing first, Octavia's song is Pain by Three Days Grace for any of those wondering. And this marks the end of chp 7! I gotta say this might be one of my favorite chps I have written so far. I didn't have a set goal with this chp other than to just not make it super sad or depressed too, but I enjoyed this chp a whole lot, lol. Anyway, how exactly did Kiryu and Octavia's relationship develop? Will Kiryu tell Octavia about his dark past? Will Octavia tell Kiryu about her problems? Why did Octavia blush at the mention of her and Kiryu being in a relationship? Was this whole chp just a facade? You'll just have to find out in chp 8!
