Chapter 6: Lend me your strength! Magic Combines!

Magix Dimension

The subterranean appears on screen. Hex and Ogron had arrived, and the group comprising Anagan, Gantlos, Duman, and Charmcaster had returned.

Duman said, "Hey, sup teach? We're back."

Hex impatiently demanded, "Where's the book?"

"Well, we thought your niece had it, but she went and lost it along the way," Duman replied.

Charmcaster shot back, "Hey, it wasn't my fault! That stupid alien kid jumped in my way. Somehow he got to Magix and…"

Hex interrupted her, asking aggressively, "The Tennyson boy? Impossible. The only one who has any magical potential is his dear cousin. Sadly, he only depends on the device on his arm. How can he possibly get here?"

"I'm not sure, but he's here. And he had threatened to burn the book there and then if I didn't…..." Charmcaster answered.

Hex exclaimed with a clear hint of displeasure, "And you allowed him take the book?! You disappoint me, Charmcaster. I assume if you want anything done right, you have to do it yourself."

Duman laughed, "Haha! Burned."

Hex glared back at the wizards, "You should hold your tongue, Duman! You three alone would have been far more than capable of holding back the fairies and retrieving the book! Each of you have disappointed me. All aside from Ogron who seems not to have been the only one among you all who provided me with positive results."

Smiling, Ogron said, "Please master, you're far too kind. Do not be so hard on my colleagues. They tried everything that they could. And your niece makes a good point. If not for the interference of that boy, we would have had the book within our possession."

Gantlos said, "Hey teach, what's so important about that book anyway?"

Hex said, raising his staff to produce a magical projection of the statue of the seven dragons. "That book contains a history of all magical relics that originate in the magix dimension. Including crucial information on a certain statue."

A startled Anagan exclaimed, "Wait, the statue of the seven dragons? That's what we're seeking after?!"

"I don't believe it. Our ancestors have been looking for that rock for ages after they heard about it. But a group of fairies sealed it away somewhere." Duman replied.

"I assume that means you are aware of what happens if we manage to obtain the statue?" Hex replied.

"Power rivaling the ones who created the magic dimension! Why? Because we'd be gods!" Anagan replied.

Hex began beating his staff into the ground, saying, "Exactly. If we aim to find the statue, we must get that book. Do not fail me again!"

All five of the dark magic users simultaneously answered, "Yes, master."

Alfea School

Ben and the Winx are shown in a wooded clearing when the screen changes. Ben's amazing training was just getting started. He could undoubtedly attest to the fact that mastering magic is far more difficult than mastering magical abilities.

"All right Ben, we're going to take this one step at a time," Flora said. "If you want to learn how to control your powers, then you're going to have to listen to everything we say."

Ben responded rudely, "Yeah, yeah, I gotcha. My grandpa put me through the same type of training while I was still getting used to the watch. Let's get this started already!"

"Alright, speedy," Flora said. "First we'll start on summoning your magic to the surface. Find your center. Find the well of magic that sleeps dormant and slowly bring it to the surface."

Just as Flora instructed, Ben had closed his eyes and started to focus. He saw nothing but darkness for some time. However, out of nowhere, a tiny green flash of light appeared in the shadows."

Ben said, "H-hey, I see something."

Flora told him, "That's it. Don't lose focus. Keep doing what you're doing. Soon the magic should be just close enough for you to reach it."

As Flora had recommended, it was close enough for Ben to catch the green light. He had extended his hand to get hold of it, when something tiny appeared in his right hand—a condensed ball of wind.

"You've got it! That's it!" Musa said as she cheered for Ben.

Ben opened his eyes to find the magic he had worked so hard to surface in his grasp.

Ben raised his fist in the air and exclaimed, "Ha ha! Awesome! And on the first try too!" Regretfully, he had fired the ball of wind too soon due to his excessive eagerness. The missile had quickly burst into a mini-tornado as it approached Stella.

Stella cried out, trying her hardest to remain composed. "AAAAAAHH!" She was unable to stop the wind from causing her skirt to lift, which resulted in a somewhat awkward situation.

Ben had the impression that the picture of Stella's pink frilly underwear that his magic had revealed was practically superglued to his eyeballs. Ben's left eyebrow twitched, and his pupils shrank to the size of ping pong balls. Ben stammered out, "P...pink?" just before he collapsed onto the floor.

Flora said, "Ben!" as she hurried over to see how he was feeling.

Stella spat, "Ugh! The little pervert!" as her cheeks turned a bride red.

"Come on Stel. I'm sure it was just an accident." Musa said.

"It was just his initial attempt," Tecna continued. "The odds that something like that will happen again are miniscule at best."

"What hit me?," Ben questioned in a stupor.

Stella yelled, "You know what exactly happened, you little pervert!"

Ben startled "What?! Who are you calling a pervert?!" and jumped to his feet.

Pointing a finger at Ben, Stella shot out, "You! Using that little innocent slip-up to sneak a peek!"

Ben said, "Okay, gross! Beyond gross even!" with distaste. "I don't need to know what type of underwear girls are wearing! For Pete's sake, I'm only ten!"

Stella retorted, "It's never too soon for someone to get curious!"

Musa put two fingers in Stella's mouth and whistled, thus stopping the argument before it could get any worse.

After pushing Ben and Stella separated, Musa exclaimed, "All right you two, break it up! The fairy hunters are plotting with dark magic users from another world. And somehow, their plan involves the book of Magix. Not really the best time to be arguing with each other,"

Ben and Stella had turned their backs on one other after exchanging one final glare.

Stella reluctantly said, "I guess it doesn't matter. I guess I can let it slide this time." She had one eye open. "Even though it was a bit perverted."

"Give me a break. As if I could consider someone like you attractive. That was nothing else than a mistake." Ben replied. "All right, Flora. I'm ready to start again."

Charmcaster said as she emerged from behind the trees, "Don't Bother. It would be a complete waste of time and energy trying to teach a dunce like you about magic."

Ben approached the witch and said, "I hope you're here to turn yourself in. Charmcaster."

Charmcaster answered, "Not likely. I forgot a book that I was checking out today and I've come back to get it."

Ben answered, "Sorry, but all returns are final. You want the book, you're gonna have to go through me!"

Stella said, "Excuse me? What are we, chopped liver?"

Charmcaster grinned and added, "Go ahead and transform into any one of your little alien heroes. They won't be a problem for us now."

Ben asked inquisitively, "Us?" Hex had emerged from behind a tree to respond to his query.

Ben growled, "HEX!"

"It's been sometime now, hasn't it, boy?" Hex said.

Stella muttered to Bloom, "Yeesh, he's a lot more of a mummy in real life than in the picture."

After turning on the Omnitrix, Ben said, "Perfect! I can wipe the floor with both of you at the same time!" The females had to cover their eyes as he swiftly set the dial to the Four Arms emblem and slammed it down, surrounding him in a veil of blinding green light. The being that stood where Ben had been only moments before, after undergoing the metamorphosis, was a tetramand. When the females saw his metamorphosis up close, they were in complete shock. But since they had already seen his powers multiple times, neither Charmcaster nor Hex were impressed.

"Amazing. So that's how he transforms into those aliens" Tecna said.

Four Arms went at the dark magic users, preparing to deliver a hard left hook, and remarked confidently, "You girls stand back and watch how a hero gets things done."

Hex raised his staff and said, "Hmph, not this time, child." Just as he was about to hit Hex, Four Arms suddenly halted dead in his tracks as a purple light glowed from the crystal sphere at the top.

With an attempt to move his limbs, Four Arms questioned, "Huh? What's going on? I…I can't move!"

The sphere now flashed a brilliant purple, and Hex stated, "Now, let's do something about that hideous form of yours." Four Arms then transformed back into Ben.

Ben exclaimed in shock, "Ah crud, tell me that just didn't happen!"

"Remember the spell I applied to you as we were traveling to this world?" Hex replied.

Ben had believed that he was referring to them speeding through the vortex at that moment.

"Yeah. You shot me with some kind of magic beam or something?" Ben responded.

"Precisely. That spell was able to mess up that watch of yours. So your aliens will no longer pose a threat to us!" Hex replied.

Hex concluded, about to end Ben with a purple staff ray of magic, "which now makes you nothing more than a mere child."

He was ready to fire when he said, "Farewell, Child." But before he could, Stella launched a light assault that knocked him back. Ben looked up and saw Stella in her Believix costume in front of him.

Stella smirked and replied, "Don't worry, you can thank me later."

Ben answered, "Never asked you to save me in the first place."

Hex replied, getting ready to cast another spell, "It's useless to resist. Soon, the power to rule over all shall be ours. But feel free to attempt anyway. It will amuse me to watch you fight."

"Geez uncle, getting a bit confident aren't you?" Charmcaster asked as she tossed out three rock golems.

Stella stole Ben's line, "Now, you take a seat to watch how we get things done." Ben had stayed on the sidelines while the Winx changed and attempted to battle the evil duo.

Inside the School

The Winx were too focused on the wizards to notice the explosions coming from within the school. In particular, Faragonda was on the ground, hardly able to move, in her workplace. With a clear sneer on his face, Ogron had loomed over her.

As he threw the book to the ground in front of Faragonda and held up a page with a tiny image of the statue of the seven dragons on it, Ogron remarked, "Well Miss Faragonda, I must admit that you have retained some skill in your old age. Even so, I've found what I've been looking for."

Ogron smiled as he started to disappear in a whirlwind of magic. "I only need one page from the book to do what must be done. You may do whatever you wish with the rest, Maybe use it as a paperweight."

Ogron mumbled, "Farewell," and vanished from sight.

Back outside, the battle with Hex and Charmcaster and her rock golems had left the woodland in ruins. The Winx remained strong, and it appeared as though the two were created out of energy.

Aisha asked, "Ready to give up? You're way outnumbered, and we've trashed all of your niece's weird rock monsters."

But Hex had just laughed in return.

"Sorry, but I think we might have missed the joke. What's so funny?" Musa replied.

"You girls may be talented in honing your magic, but you still have much to learn. Did you think I would be unwise enough to engage you while only having my niece by my side?" Hex replied.

A powerful earthquake struck Alfea abruptly, sending the Winx to the ground. It was then that Duman, Gantlos, and Anagan emerged from behind some of the unharmed trees, revealing themselves.

"Cowards. You waited until we were exhausted so that you could pull a sneak attack." Tecna replied.

Gantlos said, "Oh please, don't give us that garbage. It's not like you haven't done the same thing once or twice."

"Doesn't matter. We still have more than enough magic left to deal with you!" Flora said.

Charmcaster said, "I highly doubt it."

Hex had already fired a wave of purple energy at the winx before any of them could inquire, which caused them to start using up all of their magic reserves in addition to his own. The girls had fallen to the ground and had almost instantly changed back into their civilian attire. Hex had taken a big breath and felt fully healed and rejuvenated.

"Ah. Thank you for lending me your magic. Even though you knew how rare it had already become." Hex laughed.

"Did he just...drain our magic?" a feeble Stella questioned.

"What do you think happened?" Charmcaster said.

"Now, I think it's finally time we rid ourselves of these pests. Leave the redhead alive. As for the rest of her friends…..well…try not to make too much of a mess." Charmcaster remarked with an evil grin.

Duman, who had transformed into a saber-toothed tiger, remarked, "It's not like you needed to tell us that." A mini-tornado that appeared out of nowhere stopped the wizards' path as they were about to finish the Winx. The wind was so strong that the wizards had to take several steps back.

Ben had stared down the wizards and said, "Step away from the girls."

"So, you're the little brat teacher was telling us about." Duman replied. "You've been getting in our way a lot recently, you know that."

Ben questioned, his glare concentrated on the culprits, "Yeah, what of it?"

"Kid, don't tell me you think you can take us?" Anagan responded. "Because last time I checked, the teacher had rendered you alien powers useless."

Ben bellowed, tossing another ball of compressed wind magic at the wizards, "Doesn't matter. I don't need alien powers or magic to deal with you creep!" or made an effort at least. He attempted to fire, but all he received were a few sparks. The wizards had suddenly begun to laugh about this.

Gantlos remarked, "Looks like you still got a lot to learn, boy," as he unleashed a seismic energy wave that knocked Ben to the ground.

Ben and The Winx are Knocked out.

"Finish them, my pupils. That brat has been a thorn in my side for far too long." Hex said. The wizards had strengthened their magic. and were prepared to eliminate both Ben and the Winx simultaneously. The Dragon Wind had intervened at that point.

"Ben, can you hear me?" Dragon Wind said.

Ben asked, "Loud and clear...why?"

"Look, I know I said you weren't supposed to take shortcuts in your training, but I think you might want to make an exception just this once." Dragon Wind responded,

"Well, whatever plan you've got, I'm all ears," Ben said.

Duman said, "Huh? Who are you talking to?"

Ben retorted, "None of your business!"

Anagan said, "Who cares? Let's finish him!" as he and the other wizards unleashed each of their magic assaults at the same time.

With a shiver down his spine, Ben had reached out to deflect the blow. Ben and the girls were effectively shielded from the wizards' attacks as they were about to be struck by a massive tornado that encircled them.

"What?"Hex uttered in shock.

Ben opened his eyes to see the newly formed wind barrier.

"Whoa, was that me?" Ben enquired.

The Dragon Wind said, "Your powers are still developing, so this barrier won't last long. Listen, you've got to ask one of the Winx to lend you whatever magic they have left with you."

Ben started, "Huh? What is that going to do-?"

Dragon Wind said, "Just do it! There's no time for questions."

After getting to his feet, Ben exclaimed, "Okay, okay!"

Ben had to make a quick decision because the barrier was starting to disappear. And it was clear that Hex and his pupils were not going to watch helplessly while he made a fool of himself. Understandably, he never considered asking Stella. He then approached Bloom.

"Bloom, I know this may seem a bit weird, but I truly need you to share your energy with me. Whatever that means. You got any left?" Ben said.

Bloom stroked Ben's hand and said, "Only a little. But. I'm not sure how this is going to help." Her hand briefly flared orange before dimming, and a moment later, Ben was encircled by a dazzling aura.

Ben said, "W...what's happening?" as his hands started to shake from the abrupt increase in strength. However, at that moment, the wind barrier he had managed to call forth had disappeared.

Hex yelled fiercely, "What are you fools waiting for?! Finish him now!"

Gantlos was getting ready to throw a tree at Ben, Anagan had charged toward him at breakneck speed, and Duman was getting ready to unleash a dark magic blast. However, before any of the blows could land, Ben's eyes went entirely white and a strong wave of fire magic shot out of him, sending the wizards hurtling into the air.

Hex questioned, "What now?"

Ben had altered once the magic wave had passed. He now had on a bright red shirt with a white cape and a dragon on the front, along with red gloves and red lighting orbs. He donned red and gold boots with long white slacks.

"Whoa...what just happened?" Ben questioned, surveying his costume alteration.

Charmcaser yelled at Ben, "So you got a little upgrade. Big whoop! Doesn't mean you're going to win!" after unleashing a magical bolt. Ben had lifted his palm in response, and a brilliant orange shield had materialized, totally absorbing the attack.

"Oh, sweet!" Ben exclaimed. However, he didn't have much time to rejoice as Anagan started sprinting around him at an incredibly fast speed. Ben was thrown into an enormous tornado as a result, and he lost control.

Anagan responded smugly, "Beat that." Ben was surprisingly up to handling this as the tornado started to flash bright red. It was surrounded by rings of flames in a matter of seconds.

Anagan exclaimed, "What the-?! I didn't expect you to do that!" as he and the other wizards made an escape attempt. However, they were drawn in by the new flame tornado's powerful suction. unable to withstand the intense wind and scorching burning heat. Ben had suddenly materialized, leaving the wizards defenseless, and had given the three brutal punches and kicks. When the flame tornado eventually passed, Anagan, Gantalos, and Duman were all scorched and severely damaged when they hit the ground. Ben, meantime, had descended and was staring at Charmcaster and Hex.

Bending his knuckles, Ben murmured, "Okay, your turn."

Hex said, "To be honest, I think that's enough for today."

Ben shook his head, looking disappointed, "What? You're running away? Typical bad guy."

Hex answered, "I'd like to see it more as a tactical retreat."

Hex finished before he could drive his colleagues home. Moments later, he, Charmcaster, and the wizards vanished in whirlwinds of magic. "I must admit, I'm impressed by you, boy. I did not think you would have so much potential for magic. However, no matter what power you acquire, it shall pale in comparison to the power that we shall soon obtain. Until we meet again!"

"Call it what you want, it's still running away," Ben replied.

After the altercation, Ben noticed that the Winx were starting to get up.

Musa asked, "Ben? What exactly happened to you?"

"I'm not sure, I just...transformed after Bloom gave me a little of her magic," Ben said at that precise moment.

Dragon Wind resurfaced and stated, "It's called magic synergy."

"Magic synergy?" Stella questioned. "They never taught us that at Alfea."

"That is because it is not a technique which the school should not teach. You may go as far as to call it a "forbidden technique"." Dragon Wind responded.

Aisha asked, "A forbidden technique. As in….never to be used?"

Dragon Wind answered, "Exactly. The magic synergy allows one user to temporarily merge the power they have with another or more magic users. This causes a transformation which makes it possible for the caster to use both their magic as well as the magic abilities of those they combined with at twice their original power."

"And why exactly was that called a forbidden technique?" Tecna remarked.

"In the past, we've had multiple issues with fairies, witches, and wizards using this technique to grow more powerful than anyone else in the Magix Dimension." Dragon Wind responded, "After discovering what kind of power they could gain from it, it proved too dangerous to be taught in the long run. To avoid any future uprisings, the rules on how to perform it were sealed away together with other various forbidden spells."

"So, we're ahead of the wizards now?" Musa enquired.

Dragon Wind said, "Yes...but I'm afraid that there is some bad news."

Stella asked, "What kind of bad news?"

Dragonwind replied, "I'm afraid that you girls won't be able to use magic synergy."

"What? Why not?" Stella questioned.

"The technique requires a caster who has an enormous amount of magical energy. In this case, those that hold one of the elemental dragons. Which means only Ben and Bloom can use it." Dragon Wind responded,

With her arms folded, Musa said, "Man, that bites."

"Girls! Girls!" cried a voice that the girls were all too acquainted with. In particular, Stella

Stella moaned, "Oh no, not her."

The group turned to see a middle-aged brunette with brown eyes and straight hair cut short and angular with matching sharp glasses. She's dressed in navy blue. Her name was Miss Griselda. One of the more strict instructors at the school and was always on Stella's case during her first couple of years.

Griselda said, "Girls, I'm glad I found you. Miss Faragonda. She wishes to see you. It's urgent!"

When the word "urgent" was said, the Winx's expressions turned worried. They were already aware that something was off.

They arrived at her office to find it completely disorganized. Faragodna didn't appear to be in the best condition at the moment, and the desk was shattered in half.

Bloom asked, "What? Ogron attacked while we were outside?"

Faragonda stunned the gathering by saying, "Yes. And I fear that he took a very important page in the book of Magix. A page that eventually revealed the location of the statue of the seven dragons."

"The statue that can absorb the power of the great dragons?" replied Aisha.

"Yes, and I'm afraid that we don't have any way of tracking them without that page," Faragonda said gravely.

"Isn't there something we can do to stop them?" asked Musa.

Faragonda put her fingers in a meditative triangle and said, "Even if we succeeded in figuring out where they were heading, it'd probably be too late."

A tense silence ensued as the situation appeared dire. It seemed as if the wizards held the secret to infinite power. It also doesn't take a genius to figure out that after they obtain the statue, they'll begin searching for elemental dragon caretakers. It had been some time since anyone had spoken. Up until Stella chose to snap out of her silence, clenching her fists.

Stella yelled, "This is all...your...fault!" as she faced Ben.

Ben shot back, "What?! You can't be serious! You're blaming me for all of this?!"

"Think about it! If we were never busy training you, we might have known about Ogron and prevented him before he acquired the book!" Stella said.

"That's a load of crap! Even if you didn't train me that dude could have still broken in here and taken that page." Ben replied.

"Well maybe if you did a better job of stopping that mummy creep in your world, we would not be dealing with this situation right now!" Stella responded.

In an attempt to diffuse the conflict, Griselda said, "Stop this silly squabbling now this instant! It doesn't matter who's fault it is. What matters now is how to deal with the wizards!"

Ben remarked as he tightened his hands and walked out onto the balcony, "You know what? No. Forget this! This girl had been on my back ever since I crashed in the park. And I've just about had it."

Flora asked, "Ben, what are you doing?"

Ben said, as he plunged off the balcony and toward the ground below, "You ladies do what you want. I'm going to find the wizards on my own."

The Winx gathered around the window and said, "BEN!" However, they had retreated a few feet upon witnessing Stinkfly swiftly soar through the air.

Dragon Wind enquired, "And where exactly do you plan on going?"

Stinkfly exclaimed, "Whoa, I didn't know you were able to speak to me in my alien form."

The Dragon Wind answered, "I can communicate with you no matter what form you take, Ben."

"Well anyway, I've had it with those girls crowding me. It's not like I need them to beat Hex and Charmcaster. I've beaten them many times!" Stinkfly replied.

"But remember, he's allied himself with The Wizards of The Black Circle. And they're certainly not pushovers." Dragon Wind replied.

After zooming off to an unidentified location, Stinkfly exclaimed, "Doesn't matter. I'll take 'em all down!"

Alfea

The girls continued to gaze off in the direction where the stinkfly had disappeared.

With an angry tone, Musa exclaimed, "Nice going, Stella!"

With her arms crossed, Stella replied, "SO what if the kid wants to go off by himself? I say let him! He can take care of himself. He has his aliens after all."

"But, if the wizards find out that he has the Dragon Wind with him then-." Flora replied.

Faragonda slapped her forehead and said, "The Dragon wind, of course! How did I not see it before?"

Bloom asked, "What about it, Miss Faragonda?"

"It was there when the statue was sealed away. She may very well know its location. And with it, we just might be able to beat the wizards!" Faragodna responded .

Griselda glared at Stella and exclaimed, "The only problem is that Stella just drove off its owner!"

"Stella, you have to go and find Ben and bring him back here! The Dragonwind is the only chance that we have at getting to the statue before the wizards." Faragonda replied.

Stella said, "What?! Why do I have to go?"

"Because you're the one who's constantly giving him a hard time. But I don't think he'll help unless he gets an apology." Flora replied.

"Oh, alright. If that's what you all want, I'll bring the crybaby back." Stella replied.

Bloom said, "I'll go with you. Someone has to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't start something with him again."

Stella replied, "Okay, fine."

Bloom and Stella yelled, "Winx Believix," as they changed into their Believix forms.

Bloom and Stella took off after that, flying out of the window and into the sky to find Ben and the Dragon Wind.

Meanwhile in the cave of Magix

Hex said as he poured some of the mixture from the cauldron into a medium-sized bottle, "Excellent. The spell is ready and we have the location for the statue. It's time we were on our way."

"But master, what about the fairies?" Asked Duman,

"They should be no bother to us no. Hex replied. Without the knowledge of the statue's location, they won't have any idea where to look. And even if they do manage to find us, I have a little something in reserve should the moment ever arise. Now, come my pupils. The moment of truth approaches. With that, Hex and the others had disappeared to an unknown location.

Tell me what you think.
