BPOV

For only the 10th time tonight, I look around the packed bar where the music is loud enough to nearly shake the windows. That feeling that has overtaken my imagination for weeks makes my skin tingle with fear and anticipation.

The feeling of eyes on me. Of being watched intently.

Who would want to watch me? I'm sure it's nothing. Likely, just a lack to sleep that is driving my imagination wild.

I'm a doctor and I specialize in pediatric medicine at the local hospital. I love working with children, but it can be mentally taxing to see children hurting or scared.

I turn back toward the bar to finish my drink. It's been a long, difficult week and I just want to relax tonight. Dance with a stranger. Just forget for a while.

It's pretty obvious that relaxing and forgetting are not in the cards for me tonight. Not when I can't sit still without feeling this sense of paranoia.

Might as well go home and get some sleep.

As I make my way to the exit, that feeling of dread and anxiety just keeps nagging at me, but I'm sure I'll be fine once I get in my car and head home. I just need rest, that's all.

I peek around the dark street looking for my car so I can make a quick getaway. Several cars are parked nearby, but I see no one in them or even close by. After all, it is barely 9pm on a Friday night. It'll be a while before anyone starts to clear out.

That shadow is just my eyes playing tricks on me. Come on, Bella. Just keep walking. But as I do, I realize a little too late that I've made a terrible mistake. And soon, my whole world went black...

EPOV

Watching the Swan girl has been a 24/7 job for the past 10 days. I'm way past ready to get this job moving.

My partner for the time, James, watches her along with me with almost clinical observation. She's nothing to him. Just an easy kill for quick money.

The problem is that nothing is ever easy when you work for this gang.

The girl walks out and we know it's time to roll. The boss gave the order and everything is set in motion after days of following her every move.

James quietly gets out of the car. The kill is his. My role is to have the car ready to make a fast getaway and to handle any collateral damage that comes across the scene.

It should appear as a simple robbery gone wrong.

There's just one problem. I've never been good at following orders. That idiot, James is going to fuck up the world. I step out of the car and follow behind him.

Just as James raises his gun, the girl turns, getting her first glimpse of her fate.

But it won't be the girl getting the bullet tonight. I raise my gun and fire, hitting James squarely in the head before he knows I'm standing there.

And then I turn my gun on the girl now trembling and staring at me with wide eyes.

"We finally meet, Bella".
