Many years ago in a snowy winter in Canada. The snow fell, covering the forest's trees in a white sheet. In the center of the forest lay a secret facility conducting experiments. The science here directly contrasted the nature around its surroundings. Lights flashed from the windows of the facility. The alarms blared, echoing throughout the forest. The walls were slashed in the form of an X by three metal claws. A man broke through the walls. His hair was spiked towards the two sides of his head. His appearance was fierce. Soldiers began to shoot at him. The man ran into the forest, using the trees as his cover. The soldiers slowly walked out as a young man, an American, walked out with the soldiers. He wore camouflage clothing, and his glasses covered his eyes. He wore dog tags like a necklace, and on the dog tags it read, "William Stryker". "Find him," he said. The soldiers moved into the forest. Through reflection upon his glasses, Stryker was unphased by the hellfire he witnessed. Bullets flew throughout the forest and the escaped man slashed many soldiers in front of him. The man was a beast. He snarled and growled and yelled as he attacked the many soldiers. More soldiers came out behind Stryker, each of them holding a tranquilizer gun. "Fire when ready," Stryker said. The soldiers fired tranquilizers at the man. The man with claws was hit multiple times. Using the strength he had left, he ran off towards the edge of the forest, before a waterfall. "Now now," Stryker said, "You have nowhere left to go… Wolverine." Wolverine snarled as he was shot more times with tranquilizers. In a last-ditch effort to escape, Wolverine jumped over the waterfall and fell to the waters below. Stryker looked over the waterfall. "Get a search team," he said. "Yes sir," a soldier said. Stryker looked down into the waterfall. "Oh Wolverine, you have no place in the world of man," he said. He turned around and walked away.

Wolverine gasped as he woke up. He sat over the edge of his bed. His breathing was fierce and he had sweat all over his body. He held his palm to his forehead, and he wiped off some of the sweat. Before putting his hand away, he closed it into a fist and his claws came out. Long metallic claws, forever embedded into him. He sighed as he retracted them. He stood up, walked towards the curtains on his window and he moved them to the side to show the brightness of the sun tracing his floor. He sighed. He went towards his closet and opened it. Inside there were sweaters hanging. He moved them to one side until he managed to find the clothes he wanted to wear. A yellow suit with black spikes running along the sides and blue spiked shoulder blades. He sighed as he grabbed it. He put it on, complete with blue boots and blue gloves with space in them for his claws. He then put on his helmet. Yellow covered the top of his head and his eyes were surrounded by black spikes.

Wolverine walked through a hallway. His steps echoed along the metallic walls. As he walked, Wolverine heard another pair of steps. He turned around as he saw a blue creature walking on the ceiling of the hall. He wasn't just any creature. He was a mutant. "Late morning, eh Logan?" he asked. "Beast, are you always going to walk on the walls?" Wolverine asked. Beast jumped from the ceiling and landed on his two legs on the floor. "In the grand symphony of life, sometimes even the most eloquent notes oversleep their cue," Beast said, "Logan, you seem agitated, well more than usual." "It's nothing bub. No need to worry about it," Wolverine said. "I suppose I must respect that. What are your plans for today, Logan?" Beast asked. "First, some breakfast," Wolverine said. "Ah, the morning's first repast! Breakfast, the cornerstone of our day where nourishment meets ambition, and vitality springs forth," Beast said. "Couldn't have said it better, Beast," Wolverine said. "Well, I'll be on my way. Take care," Beast said as he jumped onto the ceiling and walked back towards his lab. Wolverine shrugged, turned around, and walked towards the kitchen.

The pan sizzled with eggs. "Nothing like an omelet at noon," Wolverine said. A man in a brown trenchcoat yawned as he walked into the kitchen, "Gambit don't like this daylight savings," he said. "You get used to it, Cajun," Wolverine said. "I'll admit the one perk is that I get to eat less, you know," he said. "I don't think that's how it works, Cajun," Wolverine said. "What's for breakfast?" Gambit asked. "It's a nice homemade meal," Wolverine said as he put his omelet on a plate, "One that you can cook for yourself." "Oh, come on mon ami. Can't you spare Gambit this one time?" Gambit asked. Wolverine chuckled, "Nah. This one's for me," Wolverine said. Gambit scoffed, "Well, I suppose sometimes even this player's gotta call his cards," Gambit said. Gambit opened the fridge and tossed out some bread and butter. "Tell me, Wolverine," Gambit said. "What is it, Cajun?" Wolverine asked as he ate his omelet. "Would you be willing to take Gambit on?" Gambit asked. "Tell me when and where," Wolverine said as he finished his omelet. "This afternoon. The Danger Room," Gambit said. "I'll be there," Wolverine said. "Well, it's a date," Gambit said as he ate some butter on toast.

Wolverine walked outside. He took a deep breath of the air as the orange leaves danced in the wind. Wolverine unleashed his claws. "Gonna need some firewood for these mutants," he said. Wolverine ran into the forest and used his claws to cut down a tree. "Timber," he said as the tree fell. He then sliced the tree into smaller pieces. Wolverine then ran into another tree and cut down the tree. It fell but it was stopped mid halt. "You better be careful there sugah. Nearly crushed me there," a woman said. She wore a brown jacket above a green and yellow suit. Her hair was ginger with a streak of white running across it. "Rogue," Wolverine said. "You should really look out where you cut these," Rogue said as she picked up the entire tree log and tossed it to the floor. "Or maybe you should watch out where you are," Wolverine said. "Do ya always treat a lady like that?" Rogue asked. "Only if I know them," Wolverine said. "I never see you treat Jean like that," Rogue said. "And that's my business," Wolverine said. "Alright Wolv-y," Rogue said. "What are you even doing out here?" Wolverine asked as he retracted his claws. "Just taking in the scenery. Watching the Fall leaves fall. Getting away from it all," Rogue said. "Yeah, I can understand that," Wolverine said. "What? Taking in the scenery?" Rogue asked. "Getting away from it all," Wolverine said. "Hm. You know, we've known each other for a long time, and I don't think I'll even understand you," Rogue said. "Maybe not," Wolverine said. He unleashed his claws and sliced the tree log multiple times. "Well, I'll be heading in the door. See ya later," Rogue said as she flew into the air towards the mansion. "Hm," Wolverine groaned.

Wolverine lugged the firewood he got into the garage. "Okay Chuck, this should be enough," Wolverine said. A man in a yellow hoverchair rolled in. He wore a suit and his head was bald. "So Professor, not bad for a day's hull, huh?" Wolverine asked. "This is impressive, Logan, but I am concerned," the Professor said. "What's on your mind? Besides the little voices from everyone?" Wolverine asked. "It isn't that, Logan. It's just, how are you doing?" the Professor asked. "I'm doing alright," Wolverine said. "Are you sure? You know, we're nearing the-" the Professor said. Wolverine interrupted him, "You know, Professor, it's better to not dwell on the past," Wolverine said as he walked into the mansion. The Professor sighed. "Logan, you know what they did to you was something that can never be forgotten," the Professor said. "Well as long as it's out of mind, it'll be out of sight," Wolverine said. The Professor sighed again. "Logan, if you need to talk about it, I'll do my best to understand what you went through," the Professor said. Wolverine turned around, "Professor, nobody will ever understand what I went through," Wolverine said. Wolverine turned around and walked away, leaving the Professor to dwell on the thoughts that Wolverine constantly never wants to dwell on.

Wolverine walked through the halls. As he walked, he began to hear loud music playing inside one of the rooms of the mansion. "Gr, I bet the entire mansion can hear that," he said. Wolverine walked stiffly through the halls. He found a door where the source of the music was and he banged on it. "Jubilee! Keep it down!" Wolverine yelled. Nobody responded and the music kept playing. "Jubilee! Open the door!" Wolverine yelled as he banged the door louder. The music lowered and the door opened. There was Jubilee. She had pink tinted glasses on her hairline and she wore a yellow jacket. "Oh hey Wolverine, what's going on?" Jubilee asked. "Australia called and they had noise complaints," Wolverine said. "Hey! It wasn't that loud," Jubilee said. Beast walked through the halls. "Finally, I never thought that the music would end," Beast said as he walked away. Jubilee smiled and chuckled. "Listen, Jubilee, your music, well," Wolverine said. "Lemme guess. It's too modern for any of you oldies?" Jubilee asked. "No," Wolverine said, offended, "Listen kid, you're not the only one who lives here." "Yeah, I know," Jubilee said. "I know you haven't been here for that long," Wolverine said. "And why do you care?" Jubilee asked. "I like to have some peace and quiet. So do a lot of mutants here," he said. "You're kind of acting like an old school dad," Jubilee said. "Been around for a while, and for that time I got experience," Wolverine said. "Uh huh, so you're old?" Jubilee asked. "Just respect your elders, kid," Wolverine said. "So you're admitting you're old," Jubilee said with a smirk. Wolverine growled and left.

Wolverine sat on the roof of the mansion, simply taking a look at the clouds above. Wolverine sniffed and said, "Smells like a Storm's coming." Above him a woman in white flew. She had white hair which she stylized in a mohawk. "You wouldn't be wrong about that, Wolverine," she said. "Not the type of storm I was talking about, Storm," Wolverine said. Storm landed on the roof as Wolverine stood up. "Hm," Storm mumbled as she felt the breeze of the wind, "Yes, you would be correct. The moisture in the air is beginning to thicken," Storm said. Wolverine sniffed more, "But it doesn't seem the storm will last long. We'll live," Wolverine said. "Yes. It seems your nose is as good as my ability," Storm said. "When you've been around for as long as I have, then you'll know what's what," Wolverine said. "Indeed. Experience is the finest teacher there is," Storm said. Wolverine nodded. Both of them sat as the clouds were passing the mansion. "It is nice to simply take a look at the finer things of this life," Storm said. "Yeah. Something that's very rare to get," Wolverine said.

Gambit awaited Wolverine by the Danger Room. Wolverine walked towards him. "Hmph. Took you long enough," Gambit said, "Gambit thought you'd forfeit." "The day that happens is the day that I am dead," Wolverine said. Gambit gave a small laugh. "So, are we going to this, bub?" Wolverine asked. "You know it," Gambit said. Wolverine and Gambit entered the Danger Room. "Computer," Wolverine said. "How may I assist you, Wolverine?" the computer asked as the Danger Room activated. "Set up a fight. Me and the Cajun," Wolverine said. "As you wish," the computer said. "Wait, how does that thing know the nickname is related to me?" Gambit asked. Wolverine laughed, "Maybe someone programmed it like that," he said. The Danger Room transformed into a grassy field near a forest. "Are you ready for this?" Wolverine asked as he unleashed his claws. "Gambit knows it, but are you?" Gambit asked as he lit up one of his cards. Gambit started off by throwing his card. Wolverine ducked to the ground to dodge it. "RAH!" Wolverine yelled as he ran towards Gambit. Gambit jumped out of the way as Wolverine was inches from him. "Heh heh," Gambit laughed as he threw more cards. Wolverine jumped up and over the cards.

In the observation deck, Jubilee was watching the fight while she ate a bucket of popcorn. Rogue entered the observation deck and asked, "What are those two boys doing?" "Oh, well they're kind of fighting. You know, for bragging rights or something like that," Jubilee said. Rogue sighed, "Boys will be boys." "Want some popcorn?" Jubilee asked. "Why thank you Jubilee," Rogue said.

Gambit jumped over the trees of the Danger Room like a ninja. "Think you can catch Gambit?" Gambit asked. "Oh, you'll see Cajun," Wolverine said. Wolverine ran through the trees and sliced them at their trunks. "Whoa!" Gambit yelped. Gambit landed on the ground. "RAH!" Wolverine yelled as he jumped through the smoke. Gambit did the Matrix and dodged Wolverine. Wolverine then landed behind Gambit and back kicked him. "Whoa!" Gambit yelped. "Ah ha! Too slow Cajun!" Wolverine yelled. Wolverine suddenly gasped. He looked at his hands and they were shaking. "RAH! RAH!" Wolverine screamed as he held his head and began hearing a ring directly in his eardrums. "Rogue, I think something's wrong!" Jubilee exclaimed. "Quickly! Get the Professor!" Rogue yelled. "RAAAAH!" Wolverine screamed.

Through Wolverine's perspective, he saw he was running away. It didn't seem he had any control of his legs or body. He seemed shorter. He panted, only that his voice was more feminine and younger. "Get her! Don't let her get away!" yelled a voice. Bullets were flying past Wolverine from above. Soldiers were running down the hall, ahead of him and behind him. He leapt, unleashed his claws and sliced the soldiers in front of him. He looked at his hands and noticed he had two adamantium claws instead of three. Then a couple of robots crashed through the walls. They were Sentinels. "Halt mutant," they said. Wolverine leapt forward and crashed through the Sentinels. "Halt mutant," another Sentinel said. Wolverine kept leaping through the Sentinels, slashing them with his two adamantium claws. Wolverine then looked at a scientist. He knew who this scientist was. The creator of the Sentinels, Dr. Trask. Wolverine leapt towards Dr. Trask. "No!" yelled Dr. Trask, who sounded like Gambit. Wolverine was willing to stab Dr. Trask. Then from nowhere reality and the mind met as Wolverine saw flashes of him on top of Gambit and Dr. Trask. "Enough!" yelled someone else. Out of nowhere, Wolverine felt a shock and fell. As he fell he took a look and saw an old man. A man from his past. William Stryker. Yet, his eyes flashed and showed in Stryker's place was the Professor, and Wolverine panted and fell unconscious.
