35 years ago, Candyland was a place exactly as it sounded; a land of sugar and sweets. Here, peace was a very common answer to all, and the people were pacifistic at worst. But one day when a 15 year old girl discovered a kind of Devil Fruit, people started disappearing. "It's the strangest thing..." an older woman said, staring at a closed sign in a store. "They were just open..." Their memories of the missing people vanished as well. Kandy skipped down the street, holding a plush crocodile who was once the store owner.
Before she had these powers, Kandy's parents died when she was young, and her only joy were her toys. But one day, an unfortunate accident left her with nothing as the only home she knew got caught in a wildfire, burning everything inside. Kandy, tears in her eyes, cursed the world for how cruel it was. As she did, something caught her eyes; a plastic looking fruit with a wind-up stem and various plastic chunks of various colors decorated its surface, somehow untouched by the flames. She took a curious bite and found it soft like a fruit, and learned its name. "Hobby Hobby? What's that mean?"
She wandered through the town, lost in thought before bumping into someone. "Ah, I-I'm sorry mister!" The man turned, sighing gently, "Ah Kandy, no issue. It's actually perfect to run into you; the wife and I have been talking, we'd totally love to have you stay with us." She looked up at him, and smiled brightly. "R-Really!? That's so-" she placed her hand on his, and he suddenly poofed into a small sock monkey. "What the!? K-Kandy what did you do?" he cried, looking down at his stubby hands. She wiped her eyes, and continued smiling. "What was I doing? Oooh monkey friend!~" she exclaimed picking him up.
This continued for months, until one day, a Celestial Dragon visited. He and his two guards walked down the road, the Dragon complaining about how much sugar there was. Kandy spotted him and ran over, excitedly waving at him. "Hello mister Celestial! You wanna be my friend?" He scoffed, "With a commoner like you? Please..." She pouted, and grabbed onto his leg. "Hey let me-" in a cloud of smoke, he suddenly found himself as a toy robot. "Gya! You vile creature! Guards! Seize her!" The guards that were with him scratched their chins, "Why were we here?" They shrugged and walked off, leaving him with the girl.
She had already set up a small fighting ring for her toys, as she always enjoyed fighting them against each other when they weren't alive. Now she can make money with her fantasies, and she kept making new friends here and there. But one day, during one of her walks, she ended up stumbling and hitting her head. Unbeknownst to her, passing out undoes the effects of her power, and everyone she turned suddenly regained their human bodies. While everyone was upset, they didn't blame the girl. One man however held a grudge.
Kandy apologized to the people, promising never to turn people into toys again, and everything returned to normal, her instead turning to making strangers she meets into toys instead. Everything was calm, until the Celestial Dragon returned a week later, a strange black storm following behind him as the navy ship stopped shy of view. "That vile witch lives there, oh Great Celestial Dragon! I was turned into some creature, forced to fight!" The storm above him sparked with lightning as it approached the city, causing the townsfolk to head inside, but some stayed, noticing how violent it was. Kandy just stared up, and she started to tremble, finding herself in a state of terror.
From out of the clouds, an absolutely massive dragon running on clouds created under its feet with brilliantly silver scales that filled its long body and golden hair that gracefully swayed in the wind descended down, letting out a gigantic roar that sent a shockwave down on the city, cracking walls and rooftops. Kandy fell back, shaking in fear at the beast as its mouth started to glow. "You have desecrated the Celestial Dragon name, for that the punishment is death!" His voice boomed, striking the city with dread as panic began to spread. He blasted down upon the city with a blast of flame that melted straight through the stone walls and floor of the city. Kandy barely escaped finding a small rowboat, watching while her home was destroyed by the one known as the Great Celestial Dragon, as she drifted away from the once peaceful paradise.
