It's been two days since the ritual occurred. Elijah and I have been picking up the bodies Niklaus has killed. I was hoping to see our family by now, but here we are. Niklaus is seriously making me regret saving his life.
"How much longer do we have to clean up his messes?" I asked, irritated.
"He has calmed down, so I believe he should transform back soon." Elijah stated as we leaned against this tree in the woods.
"So...now what?" I asked, curious.
"We see our siblings." Elijah states, throwing clothes to the ground. I look to see that Niklaus has transformed back. "You've been busy brother."
"That was amazing." Niklaus's states in relief. He is all covered in dirt at the moment; like he has been a wolf running in the dirt.
"How long has it been?" He asked, getting up and putting on pants.
"Almost two days. The full moon came and went, and you remained a wolf." Elijah responds. Oh right! I didn't even realize it. He should have changed back, but he didn't.
"I can change at will, then. That's good to know." Niklaus states with a smirk, and I roll my eyes. "I remember every single kill."
"Yeah well we have been cleaning up your messes along the way." I state irritated.
"Like old times."
"You had your fun, and I believe we had a deal." Elijah states, walking over to Nik and handing him his shoes.
"Yeah, can we please go see our siblings now?" I asked, holding my hands together out towards Niklaus.
"Ahh. Yes. You wanted to see our siblings Kalle, and Elijah, you wished to be reunited." Niklaus states putting on his boots.
"You gave me your word, Niklaus." Elijah stated, grabbing Nik's jacket and rubbing off the leaves on it.
"And what kind of brother would I be if I broke it? Even though you did try to kill me." Niklaus reports harshly putting on his shirt.
"I could have...but I didn't." Elijah says, putting Niklaus's jacket on.
"Exactly. You had a rough patch these past few days, so we should just let bygones be bygones." I state.
"You're right, sister. Besides, nobody can kill me now." Niklaus stated, putting on his jacket fully. "Not even the two of you."
"Your arrogance will lead you to your death, don't you know that?" I state irritatedly.
"Maybe that's something we can deal with later." Niklaus gives me a smirk.
"When will we still them?" Elijah asks unamused.
"Soon, Elijah. Come on brother, lighten up a bit. I will bring you to them eventually." Niklaus states, walking away from both Elijah and I.
"Come on, Elijah. We'll see them." I say reassuring him, and Elijah nods. Then we both follow Niklaus.
"Why did you not just vamp speed here?" I ask Niklaus as we make our way to Alaric's door.
"I wanted to enjoy the scenery and take a nice stroll with my siblings. It was a nice walk, didn't you agree, Elijah?" Niklaus remarks, but Elijah just stays silent.
"You know he's not speaking until he sees our family is okay." I tell Niklaus.
"What a buzz kill." Niklaus states, opening the door where we see both Katherine and Stefan.
"You're back." Katherine stated, letting Stefan go from the wall he had been pinned against. "Look who decided to come for a visit."
"You just keep popping up, don't you?" Klaus said.
"What are you doing here, Stefan?" I asked, being interested.
"I need his help...for my brother." Stefan walked up to Klaus.
"Well whatever it is, it will have to wait because I have an obligation to my brother." Niklaus states pointing to Elijah.
"Me too." I say, pointing myself out, and Niklaus turns to face me.
"Right. Thanks for reminding me, sister. There was something I needed to do." Niklaus states with a smirk.
"What are you talking about?" I asked him, confused.
"Well bringing your memory back of what happened the night you were daggered, of course." Niklaus tells me and Elijah starts to get all tense. I stare at my brother with confusion.
"What are you doing, Niklaus?" Elijah stated, afraid, and I turned my confusion to him. Why was he so worried?
"Well, I figured since there are no more secrets in this home, I may as well start with this." Niklaus states putting his hands on my shoulders. I then make eye contact with him and he starts to...compel me? "Remember that night."
"Are you trying to compel me? You've gotten stronger, but not that much stronger." I push his hands off me, but then all of a sudden, my head starts to hurt. I put my hand on my head, as it starts to get dizzy.
What the hell? What's happening. What...what did he want me to remember. Then everything in my head started to become clear.
"Niklaus! Niklaus!" I hear Elijah's desperate screams. I hold onto him, as he carries me to our brother.
"You found her! Oh thank god, you are okay, sister." Niklaus stated in a worried tone, rubbing my head.
"I would not be too sure about that brother." Elijah states, placing me down on the ground, where my body struggles to stand.
"What happened? How did she get away from father?" Niklaus asked Elijah, and I saw Elijah hesitate to answer the question.
"I'm not sure. I found her limping in the woods while I was searching. She just showed up from nowhere." Elijah says, unsure how he found her.
"I escaped because my father believed I was dead." I finally speak and they both look at me confused as I cling to Elijah, unable to stand.
"What do you mean?" Elijah asked me, and I looked at him with a worried look. I took a deep breath and continued to speak.
"Father has had me since we escaped from New Orleans." I spat and they were both taken back.
"We left New Orleans five years ago sister...he has had you captive for this long?" Niklaus states in a guilty tone.
"We looked everywhere for your sister. We promised we wouldn't stop. I just...couldn't find you and I am sorry." Elijah states shamefully.
"It's not your fault, Elijah. Father made sure you couldn't find me. He went to great lengths to obtain me in the first place." I say, exhausted.
"Why did he want you, specifically? Was his main goal not me?" Niklaus asked confused.
"It was, it is. But he realized he could not get anywhere, if you had a witch protecting you the entire time. He could never find you that way, which is why it was impossible to locate you with me by your side." I explain to him and he nods.
"How did father find us then?" Elijah asks, and I remember something. Father said that Rebekah told him. But Rebekah would never do that to us; she wouldn't. So I just ignore it.
"I don't know. But he did." I state.
"So if father's goal was to rid you, what did he do, since you're still alive." Niklaus asks me.
"He wanted me dead. He tried everything he could think of. But I became immortal the same way you became a vampire, and there's nothing that can kill us." I explained.
"Except the white oak stake. He didn't use it?" Elijah asked, confused.
"The stake was used for vampires. The white oak still weakens me, but I will not die from it. Apparently, mother had another way to kill me, which she didn't tell anyone about. However..." I trail off, thinking of the memories of those five years.
"However, what?" Niklaus asks me.
"He found another way. Father believed that my magic was linked to my immortality. He thought if he could get rid of my magic, my immortality would be gone as well." I explain to them and my voice starts to get sadder.
"Sister, what happen in those five years?" Elijah states rubbing my back. I try to pull myself together and try not to break down in tears.
"He spent every second of the day finding spells that would subdue my magic. He tried a thousand different potions on me. He kept trying them over and over again. He would even bring in some witches to do the job. Then after he would experience, to see if I still had my magic. He did this repeatedly for five years. Nothing was really working. But then..." I state, feeling the tears form in my eyes but I push them back.
"Take your time, sister." Elijah said to me.
"One day, my magic. I couldn't feel it anymore. I mean I could, but it wasn't strong. Father could see it in my eyes. He could see the darkness in my eyes. It felt empty. 1000's of years of living and my magic had been taken in a mere half a decade." I stated in a sad tone.
"What happened after father found out?" Niklaus asked me, seemingly scared for the answer.
"I tried to hide it from him. I didn't know either whether my magic was linked to my immortality or not, but I wasn't finding out from my death. He asked me to light the same candle I had been dealing with for the past five years. One day, I finally couldn't light it. After that, he quickly took matters into his own hands...he put a white oak stake in my heart." I state somberly, still holding back my tears.
"Wait, is your immortality not linked to your magic?" Niklaus asks, intrigued, and I shrug my shoulders.
"I have no idea. But after father stabbed me, I didn't wake up for a long time. I really believed I was dead until I came back. But all I know is that father thought I was dead, so he left me alone. Since he was no longer keeping me on watch, I slowly escaped from him, which is what led me to being on the ground where Elijah found me." I explain the situation.
"So your magic. It's gone?" Niklaus asks me and I nod sadly.
"It'll come back. But I cannot say when it will be soon." I say somberly and I can see the eye glare between the two. "You guys, it's fine. I am fine."
"And now we have no idea what might kill you?" Elijah asks worriedly.
"I guess so." I state uncertainly. "But nature wouldn't allow mother to cast this spell on me, without there being a way for me to die."
Niklaus continues to shake his head no to Elijah, and I turn around to look at Elijah, but he is just staring into the distance. They are whispering to each other.
"Enough! What are you guys doing?" I asked irritated about their secret conversation.
"Sister, you can be seriously hurt now. You cannot protect yourself and we have no clue what could kill you. At least before, we could all avoid the white oak stake but now..." Elijah stated a worrisome.
"I told you, I will be fine. I'm still a human, not some fragile glass you need to protect." I tell them both.
"Kalle, you said all your magic is gone, right?" Niklaus asks me again and I start to get worried now.
"Why do you keep asking? I've already said yes, brother." I move away from Elijah and approach Niklaus. "Whatever you're planning in your head, I would stop thinking about it."
"Well, it's not my plan..." Niklaus says, and I look at him confused. He grabs my shoulders and prays this works.
"What are you doing?" I asked him, as he focused on me.
"I want you to forget what happens next." Niklaus compels me. I try to resist, but I cannot. Why am I being compelled? Instead, of getting out of the compulsion, I agree to what he has said.
"Forget what...?" I ask him and he tells me to turn around. As soon as I do, a sharp object enter my stomach. My body immediately starts to ache in pain. I look down to see the dagger in my body. I look to see it's Elijah who put the dagger in my body.
I cannot move. Why can't I move? My body...it's starting to shut down. There's blood dripping from my stomach, I just feel my body turning numb.
"Why...?" I asked him, from my shoulders down were paralyzed and I couldn't move even an inch. The last words I mumbled as paralysis moved to my face.
"I'm sorry sister, but this is for your own safety." Elijah tells me sadly with his voice breaking.
I feel a tear coming down my face, as those were the last words I would hear. Why would he do this to me? The paralysis spreads to my mouth. I close my eyes, as it spreads to my eyes as well. My body starts to drop. I don't feel anything anymore. I don't see anything. Everything just went dark.
~present day~
Once I get out of that trance, I see nothing has moved. I was looking at that flashback, which seemed to last for at least a few minutes, but everything was still the same here. Niklaus was looking at me with a smirk.
"Sister...I can explain." Elijah says, putting his hand on my shoulder, but I shove it away. My eyes start to water from tears. He has been lying to me this entire time. "I was just trying to protect you." Elijah states, trying to justify his means.
"Just trying to protect to me?" I turn around in disbelief and disgust. "You cursed me to a box for 100 years! And made me believe all this time it was Niklaus who put a dagger in me."
"I didn't make you believe that sister. When you woke up, I thought Niklaus's compulsion would have worn off and you were coming to get your revenge on me, but it didn't. Instead, you believed Niklaus daggered you, which makes sense since he has all our other siblings daggered." Elijah explains to me, and I just scoff at him.
"And you never thought to clarify?" I ask angrily, with tears about to fall.
"Sister, you had your magic taken away, you would of been vulnerable." Elijah states and I face away from him in annoyance and anger. He continues to talk, despite the fact. "Niklaus has daggers in all our siblings, and yet you are more mad at me then at him, why?" Elijah asks, trying to switch the blame on me, and I have had enough.
"BECAUSE I TRUSTED YOU!" I scream back at Elijah with tears now falling down my face. He is not taken back by my outburst, and instead stands there with sympathy. "Niklaus has always been conniving and a backstabber. He has put daggers in our siblings to punish them for not listening to him because that is who he is. He does it, so nobody will leave him and ultimately abandon him." I scream back at Elijah with tears now falling down my face. He is not taken back by my outburst, and instead stands there with sympathy.
"Sister, please stick to the topic of conversation." Niklaus states, whispering in my ear, but I just roll my eyes.
"But you, Elijah? You're supposed to be a noble man. When you saved me that night, I didn't need to be put away or kept safe in a box. I needed my family. I needed comfort. And you couldn't give that to me." I say, my voice cracking, and tears falling freely. I watch as Elijah's expression turns to sadness.
"I'm sorry, sister. I never meant for you to feel this way." Elijah moves closer to me, but I take a step back.
I look at him with disgust and anger. "You're sorry, well that just makes everything better. When were you going to pull the dagger out?" I ask him curiously, but he is taken aback by the question. Elijah ponders it for a little while, not saying an answer.
"It's a simple question, Elijah." I said, wiping the tears from my face. "When were you going to pull it out?"
After Elijah thought for a few more moments, he finally came up with an answer. "When your magic had returned."
"You were going to leave me there until my magic came back?!" I scream at him, annoyed. He steadily nods. I just look away from him again in disbelief and notice Katherine and Stefan standing there awkwardly. I forgot they were even here.
"Brother, why did you show her that memory." Elijah asks Niklaus, confused on why he decided now to tell me. Even though I am glad he did, I am wondering the same thing.
"So she would feel less guilty when I do this." Niklaus states coming up behind Elijah. I turn around to see my brother screaming in agony as Niklaus stabs him. I am taken aback by it.
"Shhh..." Niklaus whispered to Elijah as he twisted the dagger in his chest, letting him drop to the floor. I looked at my brother's body and for once, I didn't feel empathy for it. Karma is a weird thing, so maybe it's time for Elijah to get his.
"Any objections, sister?" Niklaus asked me
I look down at Elijah's body one last time. He can stay like that for a while. I was in that box for 100 years; he can deal with a few weeks. "No."
"Good." Niklaus states with a smile and rushes to pin Stefan against his wall. "So, what am I going to do with you?"
