Once I leave the grill, I head straight to a nearby library. The last time I did a location spell to find my siblings, I passed out. But I did just wake up from a 100-year nap and not to mention, I wasn't doing it in an ethical way. I tried to locate them without a map, meaning I had to do the spell while finding a location in my head instead of a map. Using the amount of power caused me to pass out. Actually, now that I think about it, I may have died. I don't think using that much power is substantial for any witch. But, I was in a rush and didn't have time to look for a map. Now? I still don't have much time but don't feel like "dying" again so the library it is.
The minute I get a map, I head home. Before I parted ways with Elijah, he compelled someone to give me an apartment for free. Not a luxury apartment, but it would suffice. It had been a good half hour since I had received Stefan's blood. He probably went to where the doppelgänger was. I had a good feeling that finding out where the doppelgänger was could lead to my favor. Once I arrived home, I set the map on the table and lit some candles. Then I poured the bottle of Stefan's blood on the map.
I sit at the table and start the spell, "Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Suquita Segenis, Amentes Ase Nichan, Egapetos!"
The blood starts to move on the map. It moves down the main roads in Mystic Falls, then to his house, then to the woods. Then to the...church? What is he doing at a church?
I'm assuming he found what he was looking for because he doesn't move from here for a good few minutes. Guess I found where the doppelgänger is.
I blow out the candles and head to this church.
Once I arrive at the church, I make sure nobody sees me. I just need to see what the doppelgänger was hiding, nothing else.
This church seems vaguely familiar. I think I read about the fire this church had a few years before I was daggered. Why are they here? I look around to try to find the doppelgänger or what she was hiding, but nothing. The church is empty.
"Where are you doppelgänger. What was so important you had to hide it?" I ask to myself. But then I think about something else.
Maybe she wasn't in the church, but outside the church?
Hmmm. If I was a teenage girl trying to sneak away, going to a church would not be that secretive. I mean you could obvious see someone going in here. Maybe...hmm.
I looked outside the church, trying to find something. I used my magic to push the leaves off the ground to find something. I looked right next to the church when I finally saw something.
Stairs.
Underground. That's where she was.
I walk down the stairs, making sure I don't hear any voices. When I don't hear anything, I continue walking down to the bottom. What is this place?
All I see is a dark cave with a big stone rock. But that's not what interest me. What interested me was an empty blood bag on the floor, right next to that rock. The magic I was sensing in the air.
This cave is enchanted. And there is a vampire stuck in here. The doppelgänger must have come down here to talk to the vampire. That's what she was hiding. But who?
Before I step closer, I hear a voice in the distance, "What do you want now? I've already told you everything." I hear someone in the cave say.
I looked shocked. No way. It can't be. I know I mistaken her earlier, but that voice. I know that condescending voice from anywhere.
I hear her footsteps getting closer. "I heard you coming down the stairs. So are you gonna answer me or you gonna just...". She cuts off once she sees me. I have to admit, seeing her I was surprised. But I don't think my face compared to the pure shock on hers.
Katerina Petrova.
"Well, isn't this a nice surprise? It's been too long, Katerina." I say with a smile. "Or should I say Katherine?"
Katerina looks at me, still shocked. The shock turns into fear very quickly. "Huh. I'd ask if you remember me, but I think your face gives it away."
"Wha-what? Ho-ho-how...di-d." Katherine stutters while trying to spit the words out. Guess I should of eased it on the approach.
"Spit it out. I don't have all day here." I state, annoyed but enjoying the fear.
Katerina took a deep breath. "How did you find me?"
"Well, it wasn't intentional. Looking for you was the least of my worries, and you've never been important to me."
"Wow. Thanks..." Katerina says, rolling her eyes. That's the Katherine I know.
"But I bet my brother would love to know where you are." Once I said that, she got tense again. "Don't worry, love. He doesn't know I'm here. I haven't seen my brother in a very long time."
"Really? I thought you and your siblings were inseparable?" Katherine says, regaining some of her confidence. "What was it that Elijah always said? 'Always and forever'?"
"Yeah well, my dear brother Niklaus is having another one of his tantrums, and I assume you also know why. Considering you used to be in this situation before."
"Yes, everyone wants Elena. I'm fully aware." Katherine rolls her eyes and says, "
"Wow jealous much?" I say mocking her. "But you are right. I'm trying to get to Elena before my brother does." Katherine looks at me confused.
"Why do you want Elena?" She asked me.
"Not that it's any of your business, but Elijah wants me to protect her." I say, crossing my arms. Once I bring up Elijah's name, she tenses up again. "Oh. A tough subject?" I say mockingly, and she just glares.
"So, I see Elijah is still protecting the doppelgänger, as he once tried for me. But last time I checked, that didn't work out too well, did it?" Katerina says in a condescending tone.
"No, it didn't. Because as you can see, you are sitting, locked in a cave." I smile as I say that and she does glares at me. "And the difference is I'm here now, unlike for you when I tried to help, you already turned."
"Like you were gonna help. When you arrived, you were trying to capture me along with Klaus." Katherine said annoyed. I mean she has a point.
"You're right. But because you played with my brother's heart and nobody hurts my family and gets away with it." I say a little annoyed. I never understood my brother's fascination with Katherine. I know he was smitten with her because she is the doppelgänger of Talia, but still. How can you not see that you were in love with the devil?
"Hey, maybe Elijah would like to say hi to you!" I say perkily.
I pull out my phone. "You know, I can easily give him a quick call..." I say pretending to call Elijah since I barely know how these phones work.
Nevertheless, Katherine gets scared. Katerina has always been more scared of Elijah and Klaus than of me because she knows the power they hold. She knows Elijah is powerful, but with the right push, Katherine can get under his skin and make him question his whole existence. Klaus is definitely the most powerful, but he likes to show his power instead of concealing it. That's how he has always been. Always trying to show off, even if it will get him killed.
However, when I say Klaus is most powerful, I mean most powerful at the moment. I have not fully unlocked everything I can do, and for good reason.
When I turned in an immortal witch, I was supposed to be a vampire, just like my siblings. Becoming an immortal witch means dangerous powers that could hurt innocent lives or the people I love, which is why I won't unlock that power until I actually need to. Unlike Niklaus, I could care less if I'm the most powerful being.
The point is though, I have more power that I have not yet unlocked and she doesn't have the slightest bit of knowledge of what I can do. But she is scared enough to know that regardless how powerful I am, I still hold way more power than she could ever dream. She is one of the few to know that I am an immortal witch, and the original's sister.
"Stop! Stop! Look I will do anything you ask, just don't tell Elijah I'm here." Katerina pleads. "What do you want."
"Well, first I want to know how you got here?" I say pointing to the cave.
"That Bonnie Bennet put me down here." She says angrily. Bennet? Wait there's another Bennett witch in town?
"Wait Bennet?" I ask curiously.
"Yes. The Bennet ancestry is still holding up. The best part is she is friends with Elena." Of course she is.
"Okay. Why did you get involved with them?"
I ask. "And don't say 'Because Elena is your doppelgänger'. I know for a fact that you are aware that where this girl is, Klaus wouldn't be too far."
Katherine stares at me with a smile growing on her face. Oh my god. This bitch is as crazy as Klaus.
"You came here because you knew Klaus would be here? Why?" I asked confused but intrigued.
"To clear my conscience." She says sarcastically. "If I gave Klaus everything he needed for his stupid ritual, he would forget about me and let me live on for the rest of eternity peacefully."
"Have you met my brother?" I asked her, making sure we were talking about the same person.
"All Klaus wants is for this ritual to happen, and all I want is some freedom. I would do anything to make it happen." Katherine states in a serious tone.
"Wow. You must be really desperate" I state, shocked. "But I'm curious. How do you expect to help Klaus from down here? I mean finding a vampire is easy. But werewolves in this part of the country are rare and likely extinct."
Katherine stares at me with a smile once again, but this time I can tell she isn't gonna say anything.
"Oh now you wanna be quiet? Let me guess, asked too many questions?" I stare annoyed and Katherine just keeps a smile on her face. We have a little staring contest until it finally clicks to me.
"You've already found a werewolf." I finally realized. "Guessing you found the moonstone as well."
"Ding ding ding. We got a winner." Katherine stated to me as she continued to smile. If she keeps looking at me with that smile, Klaus won't be her only problem.
"So what? You're just going to sit there and be a good vampire until Klaus comes and takes whatever he needs?"
"Yeah. Pretty much." Katherine states and I look at her confused.
"You don't wanna leave here do you? I'm assuming getting captured and dried out wasn't your plan, but you want to stay here."
"Of course I do. Let the Scooby gang have fun trying to defeat Klaus." She starts to say but I'm wondering what a 'Scooby gang' is. "Let them think they won, when I will be the one having the last laugh."
The conniving little bitch.
Although Niklaus has never been the one to forgive and forget, even if Katherine gave him everything, he would still torture her for fun. But she wants to believe this crazy idea; I won't stop her.
"Well, this has been an interesting conversation, but I have some other things to do." I start to walk away.
"Wait! Are you going to tell Elijah that I was down here?" Katherine wondered.
"Eh. He'll figure it out himself. Like I said before, you're the least of my problems and have been for the last 500 years. But it's cute that you flatter yourself." I say smiling obnoxiously. "Bye bye Katerina."
I walked up the stairs and didn't hear anything from the cave after that. It was an interesting surprise. You know before, I actually would have protected Katerina. I hate what she did to my brother, but I know she was doing all she could to survive.
But now? I know about everything Katerina has done in the last 500 years, and she is no longer that innocent girl she once was. Can I blame her? No. But what I do know is that she brought vampirism on herself. Before Nik decided to literally stab me in the back, I would have given Katherine's location to him. Not anymore. Whatever happens to her now, is no longer my problem.
Once I walked up the stairs, I noticed something was off. Before it was quiet. No, not exactly quiet, but I didn't sense anything around me. I thought I was sensing Katerina, but I didn't sense her when I arrived, so why would I now?
Then all of a sudden, I felt a needle being injected into my neck. I tried to fight, but it was working too fast.
And before I knew it, my vision became blurry.
Then everything went black.
