I woke up the next morning, lying on Alaric's couch. I thought I was hallucinating when I saw Elena sitting on the kitchen stool; it was actually Katherine. She was just sitting there, doing nothing. I sat up on the couch and looked down at my stomach. The wound was gone, and I felt so much stronger.
"Good. You're awake." Niklaus said as he came out of Alaric's bedroom.
"What time is it?", I asked him.
"Almost noon. You were sleeping for a while." Niklaus remarks. "So you wanna tell me who did that to you now?"
Niklaus pointed to my stomach wound. "No, I'm good." I said.
"Sister, you come here late at night, begging for some help and you cannot even tell me who injured you? I am just trying to help." Niklaus says acting like a caring brother. Please, he just wants an excuse to kill someone.
"I can fight my own battles. And I wasn't begging." I tell him irritatedly. I notice how he seems kinda happy today. It's weird. "Why are you so happy?"
"What's there not to be happy about? It's a nice day out, I'm back in my own body, my sister is back home, and it's a full moon tonight." Niklaus said, getting a glass to pour himself a drink.
"Tonight is a full moon? The ritual is tonight?" I asked surprised. I did not even realize.
"Yes, so do not ruin this ritual for me." Niklaus says in a harsh tone. "I know you wanted to save the doppelgänger but.."
"Oh no. I don't care about her anymore. She and the rest of her friends can die for all I care." I say irritated, and Niklaus looks at me surprised.
"Really? What changed." He asked me, he was interested.
I moved from the couch and made my way to Nik. "I've helped them countless times, but they decided to lock me up in a cellar, where I would have to face the combined power of 100 witches who despise me. It's like they don't even care that I've saved their lives at least three times! Ah, and not to mention Damon stabbing me before I arrived here. So yeah, I'm done with them." I stated angrily, crossing my arms.
"So it was Damon." Niklaus raised his eyebrows at me with a small grin.
"I don't need you fighting for me, Nik." I clarify, and he shrugs his shoulders.
"Well I am glad the sister I know and love is back." Niklaus states putting his arm around me but I push him away.
"You think I forgot about you cursing me to that box for 100 years?" I say annoyed.
"You're out of the box, I don't understand why you are so mad." Niklaus stated, ignoring the issue. "Besides, we have bigger things to worry about. Since you are now on my side, I can easily take the doppelganger."
"Actually, Elijah is no longer daggered." I state, and Niklaus looks mad.
"What do you mean?" Niklaus asked me angrily.
"Elena pulled the dagger out and he came to see me last night." I told him.
"About?"
"Remember when Elijah wanted me to save Katherine, so I found a spell for her? Well, he wanted me to do that for Elena." I explained to Niklaus.
"Wait, you had a spell to save me?" Katherine asked, and I was startled because I forgot she was even there.
"Yeah. Elijah was so smitten by you, he asked me to cast a spell to save you, but you had already turned." I told Katherine, and she looked surprised.
"Hey, don't interrupt my conversation." Niklaus compels Katherine and she nods. Niklaus focuses back on me. "And why does Elijah want to go through with the sacrifice?"
"Well, because you won't tell him that our siblings aren't dead, he's on a mission to have you killed. Since he knows you'll be most vulnerable during the transformation." I say, frustrated.
"Hmm. Well, technically they are dead, sister." Niklaus states, making his way back to Alaric's room, and I follow.
"Nik! I'm being serious." I say, annoyed.
"I'll tell him the truth, but right now I am a little occupied." He explains to me.
"Occupied with what exactly?" I asked him.
"Making sure the doppelgänger's friends know they have to give her up to me tonight. Just ringing it in their ears."
"Niklaus, do you not hear me? Elijah wants you dead. Doesn't that seem more important to you?" I ask confused about his focus.
"Elijah is just having one of his tantrums. Everything will turn out fine, sister. Now, get changed so you're ready for the ritual tonight, and in the meantime." He comes up to me and then turns me around to face Katherine. "Watch her."
"Uh uh. I am not babysitting." I tell Niklaus as he makes his way to the door.
"Just make sure she's still compellable and isn't on vervain." Niklaus says, and he leaves the room. I grunt in frustration.
"Tough day?" Katherine stated, and I looked at her angrily.
"Honestly, yes. And it's been a tough couple of weeks with these people."
"Hmm. It's like I told you what a pain they would be." Katherine stated sarcastically.
"Yeah yeah. No idea why I listened to Elijah. Want a drink?" I ask her as I hold up a bottle of bourbon. She seems hesitant to say no. "Come on we both know you're on vervain, it's obvious."
"Really. You think he noticed?" Katherine asks me.
"Probably. Just keep doing what he says, though, and you'll be fine. Here." I hand her a glass, halfway filled with bourbon.
"Why are you actually being nice to me?" Katherine asked with skepticism.
"Because I have spent the last few weeks with incompetent people. The last 24 hours with brothers who are too stubborn to listen, so I need to hang out with one person who isn't a teenager who doesn't listen, or a vampire with anger issues." I say irritated and annoyed. "It felt good to get that out."
"Hmm. Well, cheers to that." Katherine raises her glass and taps it against mine. Then she downs the whole thing.
"We're going to need more than one bottle." I state, and she nods. I start looking for another bottle in Alaric's cabinet. This is the most entertaining I've been in two weeks.
Two bottles of bourbon later and still not drunk enough. Being immortal sucks man, your tolerance level just gets higher and higher. After drinking with Katherine, I decided I should probably change out of the outfit. I have been wearing this weird outfit for the past two days.
Nik told me there was a dresser with girl's clothes in the back. How he got those clothes in a few days, I have no idea. But they fit me well, so I'm not questioning it.
After I'm done getting dressed, I head back to the living room, but I hear two people talking. It sounds like Katherine and Damon are talking about who Klaus is using for his ritual.
"Well, look what the cat dragged in." I say as I walk out behind the corner, and Damon is taken aback.
"What are you doing here?" Damon asked, surprised and a little scared.
"Well after you stabbed me, mocked me and threatened me, I realized I had more dignity than to stay in a cellar. Or were you asking me why I was there, because you didn't believe I could get out?" I questioned.
"Honestly, I believe we actually had you for a moment." Damon says jokingly in a scared tone. I do a fake laugh too and Katherine looks at us confused.
My face laughs and turns serious in a second. "Get out." I say in a serious and angry tone.
"Don't have to tell me twice." Damon states and before I know it, he is out of the door.
"What did you tell him?" I asked Katherine.
"Nothing." Katherine says, and I look her up and down knowingly. "I thought you didn't even want the ritual to happen?"
"What I wanted was the doppelgänger and my brother to say alive. But due to recent circumstances, priorities have changed. Now, I couldn't care less if the ritual happens, so, what did you tell him?" I ask again.
Katherine sighs, knowing that I'm not going to stop asking. "I told them where Klaus is keeping Caroline and Tyler."
"Just curious Katherine, whose team are you on?" I ask her.
"I am not on any team. I just want to survive." She responds quickly.
"Figures..." I state. I look at the kitchen, which is a mess. "Well, you should clean this up. Niklaus will be back any second."
I walked back to the back of the room to get my things. I remembered fighting Elijah not to help Niklaus with this ritual. Now I'm helping Niklaus, but I still hate for this ritual to happen. I should have known, it was inevitable. Nik wouldn't stop fighting, until the ritual came to fruition.
I came back to the kitchen, to see Klaus trying to compel Katherine.
"I want you to walk over to the window, and stand in the sunlight." Niklaus demands, and Katherine looks over at me. I shrug my shoulders.
"But I'll burn." Katherine explained.
"You have no choice." Niklaus quickly rebuffed.
Katherine slowly turned away from Nik, and made her way to the window. She seemed hesitant. I was surprised my brother had not noticed. Or maybe he had noticed and was just making Katherine suffer more.
Katherine then walks into the sunlight, and she starts to burn. That looks very painful.
"Ahh, sister. Are you ready?" Niklaus asks me, in the midst of Katherine's screams.
"Yeah. Are you?" I ask him, pointing to Katherine.
"Oh, yes. Give me a minute." Niklaus says, looking back at Katherine. He starts to drink the mug that was on the counter and smiles as he watches Katherine burn.
I look at Katherine as she screams in pain, then I look at Nik who is enjoying the show. I stand there neutrally, not caring about Katherine's pain.
"Okay. That's enough." Niklaus stated, and Katherine rushed to the corner. "Hm. Guess I was wrong."
"Alright then, Kalle. Let's go." Niklaus motions to the door, and I head out of the apartment.
"So, where are we going?" I asked him as he closed the door.
"To get my doppelgänger." Niklaus states as he walks down the hall, and I follow.
After we left Alaric's apartment, Niklaus vampire sped us to the Salvatore house. We see Elena and Stefan, right next to Stefan's car. Stefan immediately notices us, and steps in front of Elena.
"You look all nervous. I thought maybe you've done something stupid." Niklaus states standing there in a maniacal stance. I stand next to him with my arms crossed.
"You ready my dear?" Niklaus states looking behind Stefan, to Elena.
After a few seconds, Elena agreed. "I'm ready." She stated and walked towards us, but Stefan stopped her.
"No." Stefan says, seeming to be on the verge of tears.
"Stefan, just make it easier for both of us by letting her go." I tell him.
"It wasn't too long ago that you protected Elena from Klaus yourself." Stefan says, trying to stall.
"It also was not too long ago when Damon stabbed me with a stake and tried to paralyze me." I responded, and he seemed taken aback. "Oh, were you not aware, or did he lie about the reason why I left?"
Stefan doesn't say anything and continues to look at Klaus, afraid.
"Stefan, it's fine. She's sticking with her brother; you'd do the same for Damon." Elena says as she comes in front of Stefan. "I'll go. It'll be okay."
I look to my side, to see Nik pretending to vomit at the sight of their love. I find it actually adorable. No matter how nauseating I find their love, it's incredible how much they are willing to do for one another. Having someone to fight for who is not your blood is something I never really understood. I would only lay my life out for my family. They would do it for each other. That's how much they love each other.
Maybe I find this nauseating because I know that with my family, I couldn't have that. Even if I wanted to...
I then look up, to see Elena and Stefan saying their final goodbyes. Stefan closes his eyes, as Elena lets go of his hand. Nik then grabs both Elena and me, and vampspeeds us away from the Salvatore house.
In a few moments, we arrive at our destination. The sight of the ritual.
