To my readers-I decided that instead of making 2 huge volumes of A Ketchum's journey, I decided to make them into 4 separate volumes. Volume 1 will contain the Kanto and Johto regions, Volume 2 will contain Hoenn and Sinnoh regions, Volume 3 will contain Unova and Kalos regions, last but not least, Volume 4 will contain Alola and Galar regions. I want each and every one of you to know that if you personally don't like the way I'm writing the fanfic, then you don't have to read it. I will not reach through my laptop to force you to read any fandoms that I write for because you can probably find a lot better fanfics in those fandoms over mine. In town, everyone was at the market, talking and shopping for things. Ash and Hayley were on their way back to Kukui's house with Ash carrying most of the bags. "All those items you bought are really heavy!" said Rotom. "It sure looks like you could use a hand."

"They weigh a lot." Ash said to Rotom.

"Are you sure you don't want me to carry a few bags, Ash?" asked Hayley. "It could help lighten the load."

"That's a great idea, Hayley." said Ash.

"Then let me help." said Rotom, taking a bag from Ash as Hayley takes the bag from his shoulder. He then falls to the ground and a bagel falls out of the bag, rolling towards the woman.

"Alola, young man. Alola young lady." she said to them.

"Alola!" they both said.

"Out on errands?" she asked.

"Yeah!"

"You dropped this." said the woman, handing it back to Ash.

"Thank you." said Ash. Just as he was about to take it, Litten appears and takes the bagel.

"Litten!" said Litten. "Litten."

"Pika? Lucar?" asked Pikachu and Meeko.

"Litten! How are you?" asked Ash.

"You're not picking any fights are you?" asked Hayley. Litten meows in replies as it takes off. "Huh?" said Ash, then takes off after it. "Hey, wait!"

"Ash!" shouted Hayley, chasing her brother.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Cario!" said Meeko. Litten weaves in and out of the crowd as it runs from Ash and Hayley.

"Hey!" shouted Ash and Hayley as they gave chase to Litten. "Litten!" Suddenly, Litten disappears when the siblings came across a bridge.

"Pi?"

"Lucar?"

"Pi!" said Pikachu, then spots Litten not far from them. "Pika! Pika!"

"What is it, Pikachu?" asked Ash.

"Lucario, Cario!" said Meeko.

"You found Litten?" asked Hayley.

"Huh? Look at that!" said Ash as they looked over the bridge. "So that's where Litten went."

"I can see Stoutland too." said Rotom. Under the bridge, Litten gives Stoutland, who was on an old beaten-up couch the bagel.

"Stout? Stoutland." said Stoutland as another leaf falls from the tree. Litten walks over to the block of wood, before looking over at Stoutland.

"Lit." said Litten as it arched its back.

"Stout!" Stoutland called out to it. "Stoutland!" Stoutland arched its back, showing Litten the correct way to the attack. "We've seen that!" said Ash and Hayley.

"It's using Fire Fang!" said Rotom.

"Lucario!" Meeko said in awe.

"Stoutland!" grunted Stoutland, biting into the log as Litten meows in awe. Suddenly another leaf fell from the tree. "Stout. Stout. Stoutland. Stout." said Stoutland, breathing heavily from using Fire Fang. Litten hisses at the coconut before trying to use Fire Fang for the first time. Stoutland coughs as Litten arches its back again.

Over at the other bridge, Ash and Hayley gasp. "Stoutland!" shouted Stoutland as Litten screeches, making its way towards the coconut as it uses Fire Fang. Soon as its teeth made contact, Litten feels the pain go throughout its body.

"Stout!" Stoutland said, knowingly causing Litten to groan. "Stout!"

"Hey, Stoutland, how are you?" Ash asked as he and the others ran towards them.

"(Meows)" said Litten.

"He wasn't asking you, Litten." said Hayley, glaring at the kitten who then steps back from the young girl.

Narrator: The relationship between Ash, Hayley and Litten is unusual indeed. Ash was concerned that Litten lived as a stray. He and Hayley discovered it lived with an elderly Stoutland. But Litten has never appeared to form any sort of bond with our heroes and it continues to keep its distance.

Hayley, popping up with her arms crossed: That's because Litten got away with his lunch the first time and whined to me, his only little sister about it.

"So, Litten, I guess you're practicing Fire Fang, aren't you?" Ash asked.

"Stoutland!" coughed Stoutland.

"You all right, Stoutland?" Ash asked the Pokémon.

"You don't sound too good." said Hayley.

"Lucar, Lucario." said Meeko, walking up to Stoutland.

"Stout!" Stoutland tells them.

"Huh? Oh yeah." said Ash, looking down at Rockruff. "We just bought some berries. See? How about you and us split them?"

Litten screeches as it lets out an Ember attack at Ash, who then screams in pain and puts out the fire to his face. "Stoutland!" Stoutland scolded Litten as it meows guiltily at what it did.

"You know…." said Hayley as her brother's face was in the water. "I could have done that to him on so many occasions, but I didn't. I had to do that to one of our other friends."

"Lucario." said Meeko.

"Stoutland." Stoutland said apologetically to Pikachu and Rockruff.

"Pikachu!" replied Pikachu.

"I see Litten hasn't changed a bit, huh?" asked Ash, pulling his face out of the water as he doused the fire. Rowlet hops over to Litten and Stoutland, hooting and Litten meows back.

"Stout!" said Stoutland as Litten walks away and tries Fire Fang again, screeching. "Stout? (Coughs) Stoutland."

"Ash…" Hayley said to her brother as they heard Stoutland cough again. "I really don't like the sound of Stoutland's cough."

"I don't either, Jordan." said Ash.

"Stoutland sounds horrible." said Meeko.

The sun was setting on the ocean as Ash and Hayley made their way back to Professor Kukui's house. "That's rare." said Kukui, watching the footage Rotom had recorded. "One almost never sees Pokemon of two different types practicing moves together."

"Unless you were some of our Pokémon." muttered Hayley.

"Rotom Dex? Pause that." said Kukui, not hearing Hayley.

"Pausing." said Rotom.

"Oh, see that?" Kukui asked the siblings. "Their backs are both rounded. This is what they do to build up their energy."

"Yeah. Come to think of it, they did that a lot." said Ash.

"Pika! Lucar." said Pikachu and Meeko.

"That Stoutland is taking awfully good care of its friend Litten, all right." said Kukui.

"Huh?" asked Ash and Hayley, looking up at the professor. The next day, brother and sister were on their way home. "I think we should go back and see Litten again." said Ash. "Let's bring some berries."

"Pikachu!" said Pikachu.

"Good idea, Ash. Let's go get some right now." said Hayley.

"Lucario!" said Meeko.

Out of nowhere, something was shot at the ground and caused dirt to be stirred up. "Pika! Lucario!" Pikachu and Meeko called out as Ash and Hayley gasped.

"Where did they come from?" asked Rotom.

"And yet, this makes the 9th time we've dealt with them trying to take the two of you in Alola." said Hayley, marking her notebook.

"What do you want?" Ash asked Team Rocket.

"Prepare for trouble. You're such a Twerp bore." said Jessie.

"And then make it double, I couldn't agree more." said James.

"The beauty so radiant, the flowers and moon hide in shame. A single flower of evil in this fleeting world. Jessie!"

"The nobly heroic man of our times! The master of darkness fighting back against a tragic world! Its James."

"It's all for one and one for all! A glittering dark star that always shines bright! Dig it, while Meowth takes flight!"

"Team Rocket, lets fight!" said Jessie and James.

"That's right!" said Meowth.

"Wobbuffet!" said Wobbuffet. Just then, a fire was descended upon Team Rocket when Litten appears in front of them. "Litten, what's wrong?" Ash asked.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Litten. Litten. Litten." said Litten, clinging onto Ash's pant leg.

"It doesn't sound good." said Ash.

"I think it's telling us that something's up with Stoutland." said Hayley, staring up at her brother. "See? I told you I didn't like the sound of Stoutland's cough yesterday, Ash."

"Litten! Litten." said Litten, nodding at Hayley's words.

"You're right." he tells her. "We've got to help it."

"Lucario." said Meeko in agreement.

"Wobbuffet." said Wobbuffet.

"Stop!" Jessie called out.

"Interrupting is rude!" said James.

"That's that grub-grabber." said Meowth, recognizing Litten.

"Grub-grabber?" Hayley mouthed to Meeko, who then shrugged.

"Pikachu, use Electro Ball." said Ash.

"Pika! Pika! Pika! Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu, sending a ball of electricity towards the ground, several feet from Team Rocket, causing an explosion. Just as the smoke cleared, Ash, Hayley, their Pokémon and Litten were gone.

"What?" asked Jessie. "They vanished into thin air!"

"Like villain magicians." said James.

"Wobbuffet." exclaimed Wobbuffet.

"Oh, after coming all this way." said Jessie.

"Let's retreat and regroup." suggested James as he, Jessie and Wobbuffet start walking away.

"Meowth, come along." said Jessie.

"No thanks." he tells her. "I'm gonna deal with this!"

"Huh? With what?" asked Jessie and James as Meowth takes off. Running down the stairs of where Litten was now living, Ash and Hayley see Stoutland laying on the ground.

"Stoutland." gasped Ash.

"Oh no." gasped Hayley, running over to its side.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Cario." said Meeko.

"It has trouble breathing." said Rotom as Stoutland groans.

"This is what you were so worried about, wasn't it?" Ash said to Litten.

"Lit, Lit." Litten meowed sadly.

"Stoutland, are you okay?" Hayley asked.

"Stout…." it groaned.

"Don't worry! We'll get Stoutland to a Pokémon center right away!" said Ash and he starts lifting up Stoutland by himself.

"You're going to try to carry it?" asked Rotom.

"By yourself?" asked Hayley, looking crazy at her brother.

"What else can I do?" asked Ash, grunting as he struggles to lift up Stoutland. "Huh? Stoutland's not heavy."

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Whoa! Big is still big." groaned Ash as he takes a step forward and falls to the ground.

"Pika!" Pikachu said again.

"Yeah, that's what I thought." said Rotom.

"Ok, that's it." said Hayley and helps her brother with Stoutland. "You're going to continue to fall over while going to the Pokémon center."

"Thanks Hayley." said Ash.

"Yeah, yeah. You love me." she tells him.

"I've got ya." said Meeko, helping both brother and sister with lifting Stoutland's tail. Behind them, Meowth appeared to see Hayley lifting up Stoutland from behind as he runs over to the side of the bridge.

"Don't worry, Litten! Stoutland will be better in no time!" said Ash. Litten meows as another leaf falls from the tree, causing Meowth to notice and gasp. At the Pokémon center, a monitor beeps as it tracks Stoutland's heart rate and an IV drips down.

"Litten! Litten!" meowed Litten from the other side of the window as it watches Stoutland.

"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu tells Litten.

"Cari! Lucario!" added Meeko. As the light went off, Litten jumps out of Ash's arms and runs past Nurse Joy and Blissey. "Huh? Litten!" gasped Ash before he and Hayley looked up at Nurse Joy. "Hi, Nurse Joy. Is Stoutland going to be all right?"

Inside the room, Litten jumps up onto the table and meows at Stoutland. "Stoutland isn't hurt…." Nurse Joy said to Ash and Jordan.

"Stout!" said Stoutland.

"….and it doesn't have any serious illnesses. It's just…." said Nurse Joy. "Well, Stoutland…."

As the door closes, Litten looks through the window as Nurse Joy tells Ash and Hayley what's really going on with Stoutland. The looks on Ash and Hayley's faces was devastation as Litten licks Stoutland's face.

"I wonder, do you think Litten knows?" asked Ash.

"I think Litten can sense the truth." said Nurse Joy.

"I feel really bad for Litten." said Hayley, placing a hand on the window. Around the corner, Meowth had listened in on what happened.

"Hm. Hm." Meowth said to himself. That night, Kukui received a call from Ash and Hayley at the Pokémon center.

"I agree. You both should stay with Stoutland tonight." said Kukui.

"Thank you, Professor." said Ash and Hayley.

"Pikachu! Lucario!" said Pikachu and Meeko.

"It's obvious that Litten thinks you're humans it can trust." said Kukui. "Otherwise, it never would have come to you both for help like that. Do what you can."

"Right." said the brother and sister. That night, the siblings went out to get berries for Stoutland and Litten.

"Hey, guys, we brought some berries for you! Huh?" said Ash, as they both entered the room.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu.

"Here we go again." said Hayley.

"Lucar." said Meeko.

"Oh, no it can't be." said Rotom and they ran out into the night. "Considering Stoutland's condition, they couldn't have gone far."

"We know where they went." said Ash, as he, Hayley, Pikachu and Meeko ran down the street. "Let's go!"

"Pika! Lucario!"

"Huh? Its Meowth." said Ash when Meowth jumps in front of them. "Hey, what do you want?"

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Better yet, do you want to clear up some Pikachu captures?" said Hayley.

"Cario." said Meeko.

"I've got a bone to pick with the four of you." said Meowth.

"Huh?"

"Litten's the kind of Pokémon that never gives up." Meowth tells them. "So you twerps make sure you never give up on Litten, capisce?"

"You got it." said Hayley.

"What are you talking about?" asked Ash.

"I'm done. Don't forget." said Meowth and takes off.

"Man, that was weird." Ash added.

"I'll deal with him another day." said Hayley.

"Stout! Stout! Stoutland!" coughed Stoutland as it lays on the couch while Litten walks over. "Stout! Stoutland!"

"Litt." meowed Litten as it about to try to use Fire Fang on the coconut again.

"Stout! Stout!" Stoutland tells Litten.

"(Meows)" meowed Litten and starts to build up energy in its back.

"Stout." said Stoutland, pulling off Fire Fang. "Stoutland!"

"Litten!" shouted Litten as it surrounded itself in Fire Fang. "Litten! Lit!" Litten bites down on the coconut, causing yet another round of pain in its mouth.

"Stoutland." said Stoutland, snoring away as Litten pouts at it. "Stoutland. Stoutland."

Litten curls up next to Stoutland before finally falling asleep. "Stout." Another leaf had fell from the tree, leaving one leaf left on a branch. In a dream, Litten was walking by itself when it looks up to see Stoutland, standing in front of it.

"Stout! Stout!" said Stoutland, nodding at Litten who started running towards its friend. "Stout! Stout!"

Litten meows happily, running towards Stoutland who kept its distance before disappearing from view. "Litt." said Litten, puzzled at what happened. The next day was cloudy as Litten wakes up from its sleep.

"Litten! Litten!" it calls out, not finding itself wrapped up in Stoutland. "Litten!" The young Pokémon runs over to the tree to find the last leaf still attached as thunder rumbles overhead. "Litten."

Litten heads over to its old hiding spot to see if Stoutland was there, only to find out that it was empty. Litten then walks by the woman who gives it food. "Huh? Hm." she said as Litten hides from her. Litten then walks over to the cliffside by the ocean as the wind goes through its fur.

"Litten! Litten! Litten! Litten!" said Litten as it sees a small dust tornado, calling out to it as it ran. When it disappeared, the couch next to Litten gave out, causing the young fire cat Pokémon to be scared. Just then, the last leaf falls from the tree and lands on the couch.

Litten looks up at the tree as it starts to rain, seeing that the tree branches are now bare and it begins to wail into the sky. Under a couple of umbrellas, Ash, Hayley and Professor Kukui watches an upset Litten. "Litten." said Ash.

"Don't cry." said Hayley.

"Professor, where's Stoutland?" Rotom asked.

"I'm sorry." he said, sadly.

"Litten." said Ash as he and Hayley felt the young Pokémon's pain for its friend as Litten curls up on the couch next to the leaf. In Bewear's cave, Jessie, Wobbuffet and James watched as Meowth stares at the falling rain and sighs.

"What's Meowth's problem?" asked Jessie.

"Our old chum's been heaving those sighs since our return." said James.

"Wobbuffet." Wobbuffet added as Bewear walks up behind Meowth.

"Huh?"

"Bewear." Bewear said to Meowth, hugging him.

"That's sweet of you, but I'm not really in the mood right now." replied Meowth, leaning into the hug. Back in town, the woman at the berry stand gives Ash and Hayley a bag of berries.

"Please take these to our friend." she said.

"We sure will." said Ash as Hayley nodded. "Hope this will cheer up Litten."

"Please tell Litten it can come here anytime." she tells them. Ash and Hayley made to the bridge where Litten was hiding out.

"Bet you're hungry." said Ash, showing Litten the bag. "It's from the lady in the shop. She said you can come by anytime."

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu, taking a berry out of the bag for Litten, only for it to turn away.

"You know, Litten, you gotta eat something." said Jordan.

"Cario! Lucario!" said Meeko, concerned for Litten. Rain poured the next day as Ash looks out the window, thinking about Litten. On the bridge not far from Litten, Ash and Hayley stared, hoping that Litten would come out. All Litten did was curl up on the couch next to the berries, staring at the leaf in front of it, not moving a muscle. Back at Kukui's house, Ash and Hayley stared out the window, wondering what else they could do for Litten.

Meowth had even reached out to Litten. "You can talk to me anytime, you know." he said to Litten. "See, sometimes talking things out can really help." He then looks up and takes off when Ash and Hayley appeared.

"Rowl." trilled Rowlet.

"Rockruff." barked Rockruff.

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Lucar!" said Meeko.

"Piki!" said Leilani.

"Litten, we're going to hang out here until you decide you're gonna eat." said Ash.

"That's right." said Hayley. "You're more important right now."

"Pikachu! Lucario!" said Pikachu and Meeko.

"Professor Kukui said it was all right, so you're stuck with us." Ash said to Litten as Meowth stood out in the rain.

"Crazy Twerps." said Meowth. As it continued to rain, Ash and Hayley sat down next to the couch with Rotom and their Pokémon fast asleep. The sun finally shone through grey clouds and a rain drops into a puddle. The leaf next to Litten blows away, causing the cat to look up.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu, looking up from a sleeping Ash. For a moment, Litten chases after the leaf as it blows away and into the sky. Grey clouds behind a rainbow formed into a shape of Stoutland, causing Litten to sigh happily and giggle.

"Pika?" Pikachu asked again as Ash and Hayley's stomachs begin to growl.

"Sorry." said Hayley as Ash gasps. "Looks like we're hungry."

"Lucario." said Meeko.

"Huh?" said Ash as Litten runs back to the couch and gets the berry they gave it, placing it in front of Ash. "For us? I think you should go on and eat first."

Ash pushes the berry towards Litten, who then pushes it back. "No, really." Ash said, pushing the berry back towards Litten.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu as Ash and Litten kept pushing the berry towards each other. "Pika? Pi?"

"Okay, enough already." said Hayley as Pikachu gets dizzy.

"Pika! Pikachu!" Pikachu said as he falls backwards.

"Lucario!" said Meeko, poking her paw at Pikachu.

"Either one of you takes the berry or I'll take it from the both of you and eat it myself." Hayley tells them, causing Ash and Litten to smile and laugh.

"So, Litten," said Ash, giving the berry to Hayley. "would you like to join up with us?"

"(Meow)" asked Litten.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Lucar! Lucar!" said Meeko.

"I think it would be awesome to finished up your Fire Fang Training with me!" said Ash.

"Pikachu!" said Pikachu.

"And Meeko can help you." added Hayley.

"Lucar!" Meeko said, smiling.

"You could be part of the family." said Ash. Litten snarls at Ash as it sends an Ember towards him. "Pi? Pika! Pika! Pikachu!" screamed Pikachu.

"Put it out! Put it out! Put it out!" said Hayley.

"I can dig that." Meowth said, overhearing the conversation. "First, Litten wants to have a battle. It wants no pity coming from either one of the Twerps." Litten meows as Ash lifts his head out of the water.

"You want a battle?" Ash asked. "What do you say?"

"Pika!" shouted Pikachu.

"You got this, Ash." said Hayley.

"Lucario!" said Meeko.

"Okay, but you better get ready for us." Ash said to Litten.

"Litten!" shouted Litten, sending out an Ember Attack.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" shouted Ash.

"Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu, releasing a Thunderbolt from his body and cancels out Litten's Ember. "Pika!"

"Now, use Quick Attack!" said Ash.

"Pika!" shouted Pikachu, running quickly towards Litten, who then jumps out of the way.

Litten growls as it sends another small Ember towards Pikachu. "Pika!" said Pikachu, dodging the attack.

"Oh, no." said Ash as Litten starts to build up energy.

"Litten is using Fire Fang." said Rotom.

"Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" shouted Ash.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu as he uses Iron Tail. Litten grabs on as Pikachu swings it towards the wall. "Pika! Pikachu!"

"All right, use Quick attack!" shouted Ash.

"Pi! Pika!" said Pikachu, going towards Litten again, who takes itself off the brick wall and uses its tail to hit Pikachu.

"Use Electro Ball!" Ash shouted.

"Pika! Pika! Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu as he sends a ball of electricity towards Litten.

"Litten!" screeched Litten, sending out one last Ember attack, causing a big explosion in midair.

"Pi!" said Pikachu, grabbing a hold of the ground. As the smoke clears, Meowth was able to see what was going on.

"So, you with us? Yeah?" asked Ash.

"Please Litten?" asked Hayley.

"Litt." meowed Litten, smiling up at the siblings.

"Then, go Pokeball!" shouted Ash as he sends it out to capture Litten. Litten jumps up and touches the Pokeball, letting itself be capture. "I just caught a Litten!" exclaimed Ash.

"Pika! Pika!"

"Go Ash!"

"Lucario!"

"I know it's for the best." sobbed Meowth as he wipes his eyes. "From now on, you're the enemy. So, watch your Twerpish back."

"Litten, come on out!" said Ash, calling out Litten.

"Litt." said Litten.

"Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Lucario!" said Meeko.

"Rockruff!" said Rockruff.

"(Hoots)" trilled Rowlet.

"I'm glad you're coming along for the ride." said Ash as he picks up the bag.

"Me too." said Hayley.

"Litt." replied Litten.

"Now, what do you say we all eat together?" Ash asked Litten.

"Litten!" Litten said to Ash, smiling.

"Good, cause I'm hungry." said Hayley, grabbing her stomach.

Narrator: Litten is now the latest addition to Ash and Hayley's growing Pokémon family.

Hayley: Even though Toph lives on Kiawe's farm right now.

Narrator: Right. After overcoming its grief, Litten can now look forward to perfecting its Fire Fang move with our heroes, not to mention the adventures to come, as the journey continues!
