Chapter 7: How Did Goku Survive Namek? And The 3-Year Training Prep For The Androids Begins!
After Trunks and Pan took their leave back to the future, Goku went back to the Z-Fighters, figuring out how to tell them what he had been told without revealing the identities of Trunks and Pan. But what he didn't know was that Piccolo had overheard EVERYTHING thanks to his incredible Namekian hearing. Once he had learned of that, Piccolo explained everything in a way that Goku thought was best. About how They are all supposed to die at the hands of Androids 17 & 18, what the Androids look like, and how Gohan and Videl were the only survivors from the Androids' initial attack. Piccolo made sure to skip over certain points, to avoid exposing Trunks and Pan's identities.
Once the revelation of the future has been told, Yamcha has his doubts, and Piccolo tells them all to believe what they want to. Unlike some of the Z-Fighters, Piccolo wants to live through this new threat, so he decides to heed this warning and train. It's at this point that Yamcha notices the one of the time travelers in their time machine, the lavender-haired boy (Trunks,) but the girl is absent from said machine. What they didn't know was that Pan was actually going to stay behind with everyone in the Present timeline, make sure that they take their training seriously, and to make sure Goku takes his heart medication.
Pan approaches the Z-Fighters and tells them of her intentions to remain in the Present Timeline to train alongside them. Goku and Piccolo nod in acknowledgement once they hear this. Shifting their attention back to Trunks in the time machine, who is still up there watching this happen, just as they had discussed last-minute. With that, Trunks waves at everyone, and returns to the future.
Something that comes to everyone's minds is: 'How did Goku escape Planet Namek alive?' And Goku explains how he got away from Namek before it fully exploded, his outfit, and what he's been up to. Mainly learning the Instant Transmission on Planet Yardrat. The next question that comes up with the Z-Fighters is something of brief importance: 'Where will Pan stay for the next 3 years?' Goku, being the caring person he is, offers for her to stay at Mt. Paozu with the Son family. Suddenly, Gohan and Videl begin to see something of a resemblance between themselves and Pan. They decide to hold off on this thought until they arrive at Mt. Paozu, as they don't want the rest of the Z-Fighters to be troubled by their suspicions.
Other than that, everyone splits up into their normal training groups as in the anime's scene: Krillin goes to Kame House to train with Master Roshi. Tien Shinhan and Chaiotzu go off on their own to train. Yamcha and Vegeta go to Capsule Corporation in their own spots. And (A/N: another divergence from the actual events), last but not least, Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Videl, and Pan go to Mt. Paozu to train.
When Goku's group arrives at Mt. Paozu, Gohan and Videl pull Pan aside to tell her about their "resemblance" suspicion between themselves and her. Seeing that they have caught on quickly, Pan gives in and tells them that she is their daughter, confirming their suspicions. She also explains what led to her birth during the Android Threat in the future. After her explanation, she asks them if things are still okay between the 3 of them. The pair's reply is a positive one.
Gohan and Videl look at each other with a smile, then at Pan with them still holding their smiles, nod their heads, and pull her into a hug. After a moment, Gohan speaks up: "We knew that you felt like family to Videl and myself, but the precise way was unknown to us. We couldn't have asked for a better ally against the Androids than our own daughter." Videl nods in agreement with Gohan's words. With that said, they break the hug and head back to Goku and Piccolo.
They explain what they were up to, and tell them that they don't have to hide Pan's identity from the young Saiyan hybrid lovebirds. With this, Goku and Piccolo nod in acknowledgement, and they all head to the Son house to tell Chi-Chi about the upcoming Android threat in 3 years. They also tell her about Pan's identity as the daughter of Gohan and Videl. Chi-Chi is amazed to hear about Pan's origin, concerned about the Androids in 3 year's time, and shocked to find out about Goku's death to the Heart Virus half a year before the Androids' arrival. But, she believes that they'll be able to pull through this threat, as they did all others before.
Goku nods in agreement with Chi-Chi's belief in pulling through against this new threat, and he, Piccolo, Gohan, Videl, and Pan all head off to begin their training, as do the rest of the Z-Fighters across the Earth. And with that, nearly 3 years pass by. Videl's father, Mark 'Hercule' Satan, tells them about the World Tournament's return, and they tell the rest of the Z-Fighters about this. They all agree to join the 24th World Tournament, mainly to temporarily take their minds off the Androids.
