RonaldM40196867: I like them both, but probably Aang if you made me choose.

Sharpe: I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday. As for your parallels between the Team Avatars, Aang is Korra, Mako is Zuko, but based on familial relations to the antagonist Asami could also be Zuko. But based on being the love interest of the Avatar Asami could also be Katara. Bolin's probably Sokka, but he could be Toph.

Zigzagdoublezee: It's one of the newer ones, and so was built after his death, named after him as a tribute to a man who had done so much to establish and build up the Republic. They were going to name one after Aang too but Katara vetoed it because he was only a reluctant warrior.

Jinora

A convoy of trucks rumbled down the streets of Republic City, bearing the insignia of the army. News of the navy's defeat at the Battle of the Strait, and subsequent imminent arrival of Kuvira, had thrown the city into panic when it had first been announced. The trains had been packed, the roads full of traffic jams as those affluent enough to afford satomobiles attempted to flee. Many more had tried to walk. Air nomads had taken it upon themselves to alleviate all of this by using their bison to fly people over to the nearest city. But many, regarding Republic City as their home or lacking the means to flee, had remained, determined to stick out whatever happened. There was basically no central government to tell them to leave anyway.

Most of the army was engaged on the border, fighting a surprise attack by Imperial troops. None could be spared to return to defend the city, and no commanders senior enough to order them back were around anymore anyway. There was only one regiment in a position to be ordered back, and as Jinora stood with her family, Team Avatar, and most of the high ranking naval officers who had survived the Battle of the Strait outside the police station to welcome them, she wondered if this was a good idea.

The lead vehicle slowed to a stop in front of them.

"Hi!" A voice chirped, and a thin figure in an oversized military uniform appeared. Earth King Wu bowed extravagantly. "I hear you asked for me?"

The rest of the Free Earth Legion began dismounting behind him. They were wearing green uniforms, and most of them had electrogloves on one hand and swords slung at their waist. The benders were otherwise unarmed, but the non-benders carried long spears.

"Thank you for coming," Tenzin, who was still leaning on a stick for support, told him. "I only wish it wasn't so soon."

"How long has it been?" General Iroh, who had come through the battle completely unscathed, asked curiously. "Since this regiment went for training?"

Wu grimaced.

"About... a week?"

"A week?" The assembled military men exclaimed. And then Jinora heard a very definite muttered "we're doomed."

"Hey! We are not doomed," Wu told the crowd.

"Then what can we do?" One of the Admirals said. "Our position seems hopeless. Our ships do nothing and we have one regiment- one!- that isn't even trained!"

"Maybe we should discuss this inside," Tenzin beckoned into the police station. Wu gave an order and some of his officers began marching in, followed by some of the admirals.

Then Tenzin turned to his children.

"You really should go," he said. "Things are going to get very dangerous here."

"I can help!" Jinora gestured to her tattoo. "We defeated Zaheer? Didn't we?"

"Zaheer didn't have a weapon that could knock you out in an instant!" Tenzin scowled. "I'm proud of you, Jinora. You're a great bender already, spiritually in-tune, and a master like your grandfather. But that will count for nothing when you get knocked out in the opening seconds of any battle! I don't like it, it's not your fault, but it's just the way it is!"

Jinora scowled and opened her mouth to respond, when a shadow fell over them, and they looked up to see a sky-bison coming in to land. Jinora's heart lifted to see Kai waving at her with Mako and the Fire Princess, Hatoru, balanced behind him.

"Sorry I'm late," he announced. "He," he gestured to Mako, "insisted on waiting for her." He pointed to the Princess to emphasise who he meant.

"Awww!" Ikki chorused from next to them.

"Hello everyone! Are they in there?" Mako asked. Tenzin nodded.

Kai winked at Jinora and then waved his hands. The wind scooped the two firebenders out of the saddle and deposited them on the floor, where they collapsed. Then he jumped out himself and made his way over to her, slipping his hand into hers.

"Are you alright?" He asked seriously.

"Fine," she told him, wanting to mention her argument with her father but not wishing to do it within earshot of Tenzin.

Her father made a show of scowling.

"I've got my eye on you," he warned. There was no real malice in it, not any more, he was just playing the role of the protective father. But he felt he had to say it anyway.

Mako struggled to his feet with great difficulty, then bent down to help up Hotaru.

"Kai told me about what happened," he said. "Was it really that bad?"

"Well, we basically don't have an army high command any more," Tenzin nodded. "And we barely have a civilian government."

"Raiko was a good man," Hotaru told them, bowing her head slightly. "I'm sorry."

"Raiko was a prat." Tenzin spoke bitterly. "But he did his best. He didn't deserve that. And he's still alive, I think."

"How do you know?"

"His body wasn't among the dead. My guess is they need him for something. They're probably hiding him until Kuvira arrives."

"Should we try to find him?" The Princess asked.

"The police are already combing the city. But I don't think we have enough time for that, we need to see to the defence."

He looked at Jinora.

"Take the Airbenders to the Western Temple, and await further instructions. Goodbye, Jinora. I'm proud of you."

With that, he turned and began to walk inside. Jinora lingered, and so did Kai, Ikki, Meelo, and the two Firebenders.

"He wants us to leave again," Jinora told him. "I told him- I told him but he won't listen!"

"He's worried about you. About us."

"Needlessly!" Jinora paced back and forth. Then she turned back to the others.

"Are you still up for helping anyway?"

They looked at each other and nodded. Mako interjected.

"Look, I should be telling you that this is a bad idea, that it will be dangerous. Hundreds are dead already."

"I know the risks."

"I should be telling you that. Or you can wait out here and I can tell you what their plans are when this meeting ends?"

The Airbenders grinned.

"We'll be waiting for you! Tell us everything!"

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Hotaru leaned against him seriously. "After all, who knows if they might be spies!"

"I am not a-" Jinora opened her mouth to protest, but stopped when she saw the Princess sniggering.

"Oh, very funny."

"We'll see you soon," Mako promised as the two firebenders began to go in. "Just don't get into any trouble will you!"

And then quieter, "there'll be lots of that soon enough."
