Keith had been on base for no longer than five minutes before he had been scooped up by Shiro for a hug.
"Welcome back! How was the trip?"
Keith grinned and hugged his brother. "Oh you know, smooth here, rocky there, could've been quicker."
Shiro chuckled. "Same old Keith. It's good to have you back Earth side even for a little while."
"Thanks."
"Did you stop by Altea? Check in on Lance?"
Keith nodded and smiled. "I did. He's doing well. He and Coran are a force to be reckoned with."
Shiro clapped him on the back and steered him towards the barracks. "Come on, let's get you settled in." Keith smiled and called for Cosmo to follow them. When he looked back however, Cosmo had disappeared. Keith rolled his eyes. Shiro chuckled. "I'm sure he'll be fine. Everyone knows Cosmo."
"That's what I'm afraid of. You know what kind of trouble he could get himself into."
"He's probably just gone to see Bae Bae."
Keith sighed. "Yeah you're probably right."
Pidge was sitting at her desk when she felt a slight change in air pressure. Pausing she listened for the door. When it didn't swish she frowned slightly. The windows were all closed, so what was that change in air pressure. Before she could get up to investigate a black blob pressed into her side. Pidge grinned as she dropped her tools to reach down and pet the soft fur of her new visitor.
"Well hello there. Welcome back Cosmo." Cosmo turned his head to lean in to her ministrations. "Shall I return you to your owner or would you like to stay here while I finish up my work?" When her only response was the space wolf settling down beside her for a nap she smiled softly. "Option B it is then."
Pidge settled back at her desk without disturbing the large wolf beside her and got back to work.
Hours later Keith frowned as he walked down the halls. He had taken a nap when settling in with his stuff at the small personal quarters that Iverson kept for him whenever he returned. When he awoke however he had noticed something missing. Cosmo hadn't returned yet. When he had asked Shiro the older man had frowned slightly.
"Now that you mention it, no, I haven't seen him all afternoon."
Keith scratched his head. "Where the hell could he have gotten to then?"
Shiro shrugged and hid a smile. "I'm sure he'll turn up eventually."
Keith sighed. "Yeah but I'd prefer to find him before he does too much damage."
"Want me to come with you to look?"
Keith shook his head. "Thanks Shiro but I'm sure I'll be fine no need to trouble yourself, I'll find him."
Keith walked down the hall trying in vain to figure out where his companion had disappeared to. He had checked everywhere. First he'd stopped at the Holts residence and said hello to Colleen and Sam but Cosmo hadn't come to see Bae Bae at all. Next he'd tried the ship in case Cosmo had ported back for a nap, but he hadn't. He had searched the garden, the mess hall, the recruits quarters and the classrooms in case the space wolf had stopped by for some extra food or attention from the other garrison soldiers and pilots he had won the favour of. However, he'd still come up short on the location of his faithful friend. He was half way back to his quarters when it struck him. Keith almost smacked his own forehead.
"Pidge."
Of course Cosmo would drop in on his second favourite person on the planet when he had arrived. Keith groaned. He should have stopped there immediately. She'd know he was back and he'd not gone to see her yet. She was going to kill him for sure.
Turning towards the labs Keith took off at a run. Halfway down the hall he ran into Shiro.
"Woah Keith, where's the fire?"
"Think I figured out where Cosmo is."
"On your way to see Pidge then?"
Keith's eyes widened before he scowled at his brother. "You knew?"
Shiro smirked and raised a brow. "Don't tell me, you haven't been to see her yet have you?"
Keith felt his cheeks heat in embarrassment a little. "It was a long trip in and then I was trying to find Cosmo. How mad do you think she'll be?"
Shiro seemed to look at something behind him before smiling softly. "Oh I don't think she'll be too mad." Clapping him on the back Shiro tilted his head behind Keith before turning around and walking away, waving at whoever seemed to be coming down the hall in the process.
Keith turned around to see Pidge walking up the hallway with what was supposed to be his pet. "Well, well, well lookie here Cosmo, look what I found. Looks like your owner."
Keith smiled at her friendly banter. "Hey Pidge."
"Lose something?"
He shook his head. "My dog and my mind, all in one day." Before he could say sorry she punched him in the arm, hard. He winced. "Ow Pidge."
She scowled. "Oh please you're fine." Then pouted. "You forgot about me."
His eyes softened and he smiled at her softly. "As if I could ever forget you Pidge." When she merely raised a brow he rubbed the back of his neck. "It, was a bit of a rough trip back so I took a nap. Should've known when I woke up and Cosmo wasn't there that he'd have gone straight to you." When she watched him expectantly still he glared at the dog beside his friend. "And I've spent the remainder of my afternoon looking for him."
Pidge giggled catching his attention again. "Welcome home Keith." He smiled and gratefully accepted her hug when she jumped at him, burying his head in her neck.
When they pulled back they were close. So close that Keith could see the faint dark marks under her eyes , and the mascara. "Pidge are you wearing make up?"
Her cheeks flamed. "I have no idea what you're talking about." When he raised a brow at her and smirked she scowled at him. "Oh shut up. Mum's been hounding me to be more feminine lately. I caved."
Keith's other eye brow raised. "You sure it's not to try and hide the bags under your eyes from all of the hours you've been putting in at the labs."
Her eyes widened then she glared at him. "You know, sometimes I really hate your Galra senses." He chuckled but stopped when he noticed her face turn serious. "You know you've got some impressive bags yourself there."
Keith shrugged it off. "It was a rough trip."
"So you've said. Hungry? I was just on my way back to mum and dads for dinner, they'd love to see you." Ketih looked away guiltily. "You've seen them already haven't you?" she asked with an amused tone.
"I was looking for Cosmo."
She rolled her eyes and took his hand dragging him back towards the Holts residence. "Come on, you can see them again. Mum won't say no to feeding another mouth and I would like to know how rough the trip back really was."
Dinner was fantastic. Keith loved Colleen's cooking. It definitely beat the mess hall food they served the recruits. He found he quite liked the company of the Holt family. Even if their eldest seemed to be off on another mission according to his proud father. Their conversation was mostly comfortable and Pidge seemed to be able to steer the conversation away from him if he felt a little too exposed with their polite and curious questions about his travels. When dinner came to an end Keith offered to help Pidge with the dishes. Colleen had been more than happy, once he insisted, to sit back with her husband and relax whilst keeping an eye on the two adults in the kitchen.
Pidge and Keith worked side by side comfortably. Years of coexistence had them moving in sync like a well oiled machine as they spoke quietly between themselves. Pidge told him about her newest research. He was happy for the reprieve and the constant low hum of her voice filling the air as they worked together to clean the kitchen. This was familiar and helped him get his bearings again. When the task was done Keith offered to walk Pidge back to her quarters, making the excuse to leave so that they could simply have some time to themselves. Pidge had taken the offer immediately with relief clear in her eyes.
They had roused Cosmo and thanked her parents for dinner before taking a slow stroll down the halls. Lost in thought for a while they had wandered in silence before Keith had realised that they had passed her quarters and ended up near his.
Keith groaned. "I was supposed to walk you to your quarters."
Pidge laughed. "It's alright Keith I figured you needed the quiet and the walk. Although, I am curious about your trip."
Keith sighed and smiled ruefully. "Guess I'm not getting out of it."
"Nope."
He tilted his head in the general direction of his quarters. "Come on, I'll make us some tea."
She grinned and followed him. When they were inside his quarters and Cosmo was comfortably curled up in the corner Keith made some tea and sat with her. He told her about the couple of run ins with bandits and outlaws he'd had. Pidge sat with him on the couch and listened to the stories of his latest trip. Sad and rewarding in their own way. She watched him carefully as he seemed to look more and more weighed down with each story. Even with happy endings she could see how much the things he saw weighed on him. Her hand landed on his shoulder softly, pulling him from the memory of his latest story.
"You know, the work you do is so important and you help so many people. Don't forget that."
He smiled at her. "Thanks Pidge."
She grinned softly. "You should get some sleep, and so should I." Keith grinned and chuckled when she blushed and punched his shoulder. "Oh shut up."
Keith's chuckles died when he noticed Pidge yawn. "Why don't you bunk here with me and Cosmo? You look exhausted and your quarters are at the other end of the barracks."
She laughed. "Keith, you only have the one bed in here."
"I'll sleep on the couch."
Her arms crossed. "I'm not taking your bed either. Besides, you're much taller than me and you'd hang off of the sofa."
Keith rolled his eyes. "Same old Pidge."
"Same old Keith." She batted back. "Offering up your bed so I don't have to go back to my own quarters so late." He frowned and looked down but froze and looked back at her wide eyed when she pecked him lightly on the cheek. "I'll stay, but on the couch. You've been sleeping in a ship for the last how long? Besides, Cosmo will keep me warm."
He chuckled putting his hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay. You win. I'll get you a blanket and pillow, something to sleep in."
A few hours later Keith woke. Something had woken him. Taking a moment he focussed his hearing. Nothing. Except, there. Breathing. Keith got out of bed and quietly entered his living area to find a sight that made him smile.
Pidge was spread out on his couch. One leg hanging off of the couch, arms thrown back and mouth wide open. Her blanket had fallen to the floor. Cosmo was standing by her watching him. Ah, now he understood. Walking forward he scooped up the blanket and covered her back up. She'd be mortified if she woke up with no pants on and her underwear on display to the world.
He made sure to pet Cosmo on his way back to bed. "Good boy."
When Pidge woke up the next day she realised belatedly that she was going to be late. Smacking her forehead she jumped from the sofa and was frantically looking for her clothes when she felt like she was being watched. Stopping what she was doing she slowly straightened up and turned around. Keith was leaning against the kitchen counter with a cup of coffee half way to his mouth watching her with wide eyes and faintly pink cheeks.
Pidge took a deep breath and realised it was a bit late for modesty. "I'm going to be late."
Keith blinked and huffed a laugh as he raised the cup of coffee to his lips. "Your clothes are in the bathroom, where you left them."
She smacked her forehead and ran to the bathroom shouting a thank you. Keith pretended not to watch her legs as she left. He also pretended not to see his wolf's curious gaze watching him.
"Oh shut up."
She returned ten minutes later. She'd showered and used his products to make herself look fresh and ready for the day. She bee-lined for him, taking the mug from his hands and taking a sip. Further surprising him she gave him a kiss on the cheek, placed the mug back in his hand and thanked him for letting her stay before mumbling about being late and her mother killing her as she wrestled with her shoes and disappeared out of his doorway.
Keith looked at Cosmo. "What just happened?" when his response was a tilt of the head and a curious gaze Keith shook his head and chuckled. "Come on boy let's go for a walk, maybe train a little, see what the recruits can do."
It was almost lunch time when Pidge heard the murmurs in the office. Keith Kogane had returned and he was kicking all of the recruits butts in the training room. Pidge smiled. Perhaps it was a good time for a break. She hadn't had a good spar in forever.
She quietly slipped into the room just in time to see Keith knock one of the up and coming cadets, his name might have been Ethan or Elliott, something with an E, on his back. Pidge smirked. The cadet looked up at him with awe and said something she couldn't quite hear. Keith rubbed the back of his neck and replied something that must have encouraged the kid cos he nodded and grinned taking Keith's offered hand to help him up.
"Alright, anybody else? Remember this is just a training session. You're all here to learn, improve your skills."
A girl was pushed to the front of the crowd. Pidge watched curiously as she remembered her father mentioning the girl to her. A small slip of a girl, scrawny with no muscle definition. She was still very green with her skills but she had determination and was smart. The girl, Cara, stepped forward hesitantly and Keith smiled with encouragement.
"What's your name kid?"
"Cara."
"Okay Cara, Let's get started shall we?" There were murmurs and quiet giggles throughout the crowd.
"Uh, Mr Kogane?"
Keith chuckled. "You can call me Keith."
She blushed. "Keith, I'm not very good."
Keith seemed to notice the crowd's reaction. "Hey, everyone has to start somewhere. In fact," He turned to the class, his light mood gone. "Rule number one of combat. Anybody?" He waited for a moment for the crowd but when no one gave him an answer he sighed. "Never underestimate your opponent no matter what the size. In battle you will never be able to tell someone else's skills by just looking at them. I've gone up against bigger and won. And, I've also gone up against smaller and lost."
Ethan or Elliott scoffed. "No way! You're like one of the best fighters ever. You're a Blade and a Paladin."
Keith smirked as he met her eyes and she knew she'd been caught. "Alright, a demonstration then. Pidge?"
Pidge sighed. Yep he'd known she was there the whole time. Damn Galra senses. She walked forward through the crowd.
"Everyone knows Miss Holt?" When they all nodded and confirmed he turned back to her. "Would you like to help me demonstrate to the class? If you have time that is."
Pidge smirked "Absolutely. You know I love to educate."
Keith grinned. "Alright everyone, take a good look. Miss Holt is much smaller than I am in stature correct?" When they nodded he continued. "She has not had any formal training with the Blade, not to the extent I have but she has picked up a few things from them and myself along the way. Just so we're clear." The students started to murmur as Pidge shed her lab coat and Keith smirked when she approached him. "You got changed."
Pidge shrugged. "I always keep a change of workout clothes in my lab plus I heard some rumours about the great Keith Kogane sparring in the training room and well, you know I can't resist a good spar."
Keith grinned before turning back to the class. "Alright everyone settle down and step back."
They took their positions and waited for the signal. When the referee gave the go ahead they both took a moment to gauge the other before springing into action. The class watched with rapt attention as they clashed, jumped, hit, spun, flipped and kicked. Keith landed the first proper hit. Pidge jumped back gaining her balance and some distance before jumping back in to the fray. The fight ended when Pidge tripped and dropped Keith flat on his back, landing on top of him, pinning him to the mat.
She grinned before standing up and offering him a hand. Keith let her help him up and turned to the stunned crowd. "Just so we're clear, anything is possible in a fight. Anything. Thanks for the spar Pidge."
Cara was grinning now, her earlier hesitation gone.
Pidge looked briefly at the crowd, winking at Cara before turning back to Keith. "I'm happy to beat you anytime you know that."
Keith chuckled. "Don't you have a lab to get back to Miss Holt?"
She laughed. "Yes, yes I do." She turned to the class. "Thanks for letting me step in for a bit." She walked up to Cara and laid a hand on her shoulder. "You should go next Cara, I've tired him out for you." When the small girl blushed and looked down Pidge lowered her voice a little. "Hey, you'll do just fine. Keith's a good teacher. He won't let you get hurt I promise." Cara looked back up and nodded with a determination that made her smile.
"Thank you Miss Holt."
"Call me Pidge." She winked.
Waving goodbye Pidge made her way back to her lab and couldn't help but think that girl was familiar in some way. She was surprised to find Shiro there when she returned and frowned a little.
"Shiro, Were we supposed to meet?"
"No, no I heard that two of the Paladins were putting on a show in the training room and figured I'd bring you some lunch."
"Mum send you?"
Shiro laughed. "You got me."
She took the food gratefully. "Thank you, I'm starved after all that."
"I'll bet, what prompted the spar?"
Pidge looked up with surprise. "Oh, it was a demonstration. Don't underestimate your opponent. There was a small girl that was hesitant to spar, the class were talking I think because she isn't as big as them. We decided to show them that anything's possible in a fight. I think it worked, Cara seemed much more at ease."
Shiro nodded and smiled. "And I'm sure it had nothing to do with having a chance to one up Keith on the mat in a fair fight."
Pidge shrugged trying to hide a grin. "Well, it's always nice to spar with someone new. Don't get me wrong Shiro, I enjoy our sparring sessions but after a while they become almost predictable."
Shiro chuckled and nodded. "I know what you mean. So, did you win?"
Pidge grinned. "Of course I did! Knocked him flat on his back."
Shiro laughed. "You know one day he's going to regret teaching you some of the Blades secrets."
Pidge pouted. "I hope he doesn't go back and tell Kolivan and Krolia to stop giving me pointers when they visit."
Shiro lifted a brow. "Pidge, are you getting sparring lessons from all three of them?"
Pidge looked a little sheepish. "Well, at first it was because I was sick of always being beat in our spars. So I asked Krolia for a little help. She told Kolivan who took my interest as a pledge to learn the way of the blades. And well, by the time Keith figured it out I had to tell him it was because I wanted to be capable if he wasn't around. Plus, you know, it makes it a little more even for us when we do spar so it's a challenge for him."
Shiro shook his head and laughed. "Some days you are a wasted talent in the labs Pidge. You could be working intelligence in space."
She shrugged but chuckled none the less. "I prefer the labs but maybe if I ever want a change of pace."
"Kolivan would have you in a heartbeat."
Some hours later Pidge was completely focussed on her project when a slight change in air pressure announced the arrival of Cosmo. Before she could say anything however she was teleported. Pidge blinked and found herself on Keith's couch. She turned around and found Keith watching her with surprise from the stove. His mouth slightly open.
"Pidge? What?"
"Cosmo." Was all she could say.
Keith sighed. "Cosmo, we've been over this. You can't just fetch people."
"He, fetched me?"
"Uh, yeah. Sorry about that. He's started doing this. Randomly fetching things. Since you're here, would you like some dinner?"
She smiled. "Thanks."
They ate dinner and conversed like they always do. Afterwards Pidge suggested a walk. She had been cramped up inside all day in her lab and now that she had been liberated a walk sounded perfect. She may not be the paladin of nature anymore but she still enjoyed it from time to time. They walked comfortably in silence around the base.
"Have you still got the bike?"
"Your bike?" when he nodded she chuckled. "Of course, it's in the outer hanger where our personal vehicles and other things are kept in storage. Why?"
"Wanna go for a ride?"
Pidge grinned, grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the hanger. They raced into the desert. Pidge held on tight as the landscape flew past in a blur. They stopped at the old house where they had gone so long ago. Where it had started so long ago. Pidge smiled as Keith helped her off the bike and they walked around. Taking in the scenery and the old house where he used to live. They travelled to the site where they had found the blue lion and sat together in silence. As the temperature dropped Pidge leaned against him.
"It seems like a life time ago." She whispered.
"It was Pidge." His arm came around her and she settled beside him more comfortably.
"You're right. We've lived a lifetime in a decade. Gone to space. Fought a war. Saved planets from complete destruction. We've lived and lost more in one life than most people could in five."
He squeezed her shoulder. "We have and I couldn't have survived it without all of you."
"You would have, you're a fighter Keith."
"No, I don't think I would have, Hunk, Shiro, Lance, You. You've all kept me alive and sane."
"Well, we couldn't let you drown in your own sulkiness. Who would we have made fun of?"
Keith rolled his eyes. "Lance."
She giggled. "Nah, it was too easy. Plus that was something you always had a knack for. We'd hate to take it from you."
"Ha Ha." He remarked sarcastically as she giggled but couldn't help notice the shiver she emitted. "We should head back, it's getting late."
Cosmo who had been left at the base popped up and to their surprise teleported his bike away. Pidges jaw dropped. "Did he just teleport our only form of transportation?"
Keith groaned. "Cosmo!"
The wolf appeared again, dropping across them and teleporting them into his quarters. Pidge smiled and petted the wolf.
"Thank you Cosmo. That was very nice of you." Keith crossed him arms and huffed. "Come on you have to admit he was saving us from a long drive back."
He sighed and nodded. She was right. Cosmo had saved them the drive back in the cold. At least this way Pidge wouldn't get cold on the drive back. She still shivered slightly so Keith shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. She smiled gratefully and settled back against him on the couch.
It wasn't long after that he realised she'd fallen asleep. He smiled and tried to figure out what to do. He could cover her with a blanket and leave her on the couch. He could put her in the bed and come back to the couch. He could try and get Cosmo to teleport them to her quarters and put her to bed. Or he could just settle in for a night on the couch with her tucked into his side. It would be rude to move and possibly wake her after all.
The next morning when Pidge woke up she realised with a start that she was still settled against Keith. Blushing she looked up to find him watching her and lifted herself up a bit.
"I fell asleep."
"You did."
"I'm sorry Keith, you should have moved me so you could be more comfortable, gone to bed."
Keith shrugged from beneath her. "Didn't want to wake you. You have work today."
Her eyes widened. "Oh my god, I'm gonna be late!"
Scrambling off of him she ran for the bathroom leaving Keith on the couch chuckling. "Guess I'll make coffee."
She emerged ten minutes later and ran to Cosmo. "Will you please teleport me to my room so I can wear fresh clothes Cosmo?" Her answer was to poof out of his living area.
He raised a brow and drank from his cup and waited. Five minutes later she was poofed back. "Cosmo this is not my lab."
Keith stepped forward and handed her the cup he had. "Never trust a space wolf. They'll lead you astray every time."
She scowled but sipped the coffee. "He's your space wolf."
"And he still won't listen to me. That should be your first clue."
She sighed. "Fine, I'll have to get there myself."
He had her coat at the door when she hopped towards him with a shoe in one hand and his empty mug in the other. He gave her the coat, took the mug and gave her a kiss on the cheek when she finally succeeded in securing her shoe standing straight. She froze for a second her jaw opening and closing a couple of times. He raised a brow and she shook her head and smiled.
"See you later?" she asked.
"Of course."
And that became their routine. Whether they liked it or not. Every day Cosmo would disappear when the sun set and he would reappear with Pidge at his side. Sometimes she would land on her feet, sometimes the couch or the floor. And one unlucky time she had landed on Keith himself when he'd sat down on the couch.
It had been a month and slowly Keith had noticed Pidges things appearing in his quarters. A toothbrush, hair brush, pyjamas, change of work clothes, bathroom products. Everywhere he looked there were touches of her. He couldn't remember the last time he had finished a cup of coffee, Pidge usually drank the tail end when it was at a drinkable temperature for her. They hadn't told anyone how they spent their nights, knowing people would jump to conclusions or disapprove. He knew though that Shiro and the Holts were getting suspicious.
There was nothing to tell though. Was there? Well they were basically living together, in a sense. It was only because it was familiar he told himself. They had spent so many years living together and then he was alone for so long, he liked her company. That was all. So why were they keeping it a secret?
He looked up from adjusting one of the recruits form and saw Sam Holt standing in the door way. He told the students to take five and approached the older man.
"Mr Holt, what can I do for you?"
"I was wondering if I might be able to have a frank conversation with you Keith?"
"Of course."
They left the training room and found a secure spot in the garden where they wouldn't be overheard.
"I was wondering Keith if you could tell me why my daughter seems to be spending so much time in your quarters."
Keith froze. "Mr Holt."
Sam chuckled. "Now don't panic son. I'm not here to tell you off or lecture you. I'm just here for some clarity. Colleen is starting to worry you see. I just want to be able to tell her that Katie is alright."
Keith rubbed the back of his neck. "We didn't say anything because we didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea."
One of Sam's eyebrows raised and Keith thought just for a moment that his daughter had to have gotten it from her father because they looked so alike when they did that. "And what exactly would be the wrong idea?"
"We're not, I mean it's not what you think, it's just, we're just-"
Keith stopped when Sam held up a hand. ""Here's what I know. You and Katie are living together and spend every single spare second together. She seems happy and so do you if I'm not mistaken. Now here's where Colleens starting to worry. See she seems to think that well perhaps Katie will be upset when you leave again you see. Since you seem to be spending so much time together but nobody seems to know what's going on."
Keith froze again. Oh no. Sam was right. They had definitely crossed a line. Keith sat heavily on the seat behind them. Sam sat beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Keith."
"Mr Holt have you ever been completely blind sided by something you didn't realise was happening?"
Samuel laughed. "More than once young man, Colleen is a very intelligent and determined woman."
Keith groaned and dropped his head in his hands. "I didn't even realise."
"Well if it's any consolation I don't think Katie realises what's happening either. The real question here is what are you going to do about it now."
Keith's afternoon was a blur once Sam left him in the garden. The training went well enough though his mind wasn't on the task at hand. He knew Cosmo would retrieve Pidge tonight like he always did and Keith felt awkward. He didn't realise when the way he had seen her had changed. Liar, his mind whispered. He had started seeing her differently the morning she'd run for his bathroom wearing his shirt without any pants on. He was smiling when Cosmo dropped her at his feet as he was making his way to the couch.
Pidge scowled at the wolf sitting happily next to her. Keith raised a brow and held out a hand. "Rough landing?"
"Apparently he wasn't happy when I asked for five more minutes."
Keith chuckled and pulled her up. "He's not very patient."
Pidge smirked. "Nothing like you at all is he?"
Keith glared. "I am very patient." When she simply looked at him amused he sighed. "When I need to be."
Pidge giggled. "Mhmm. So what are we cooking for dinner?"
"It's ready on the stove when you are."
"You cooked?"
"I always cook."
"That's because I get a little carried away at the lab."
"You forget the time every day, that's why Cosmo goes to get you."
Pidge blushed. "Oh. Is that really why he goes to get me every day?"
Keith took a deep breath. "No I don't think so."
"Really? Then why?"
Keith rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh well, Cosmo tends to fetch things for people that they need."
"Oh?" he imagined if she had ear on the top of her head they would have pricked up at that sentence. He attentions was now fully on him, he took a small breath before continuing.
"Yeah, he'll teleport back into a building for a kids toy that's been left behind or to find someone who's been separated from the group."
Pidge looked at him with wide curious eyes before a soft smile started to appear. "Keith are you telling me that Cosmo fetches me because you need me?"
He felt his cheeks burn a little his eyes narrowing as he leaned closer. "You know Miss Holt, You're making this sound an awful lot like you have no standing whatsoever on this matter." She opened her mouth to sass at him but stopped when he continued. "Don't forget Pidge, half of your stuff is currently in my quarters."
She blushed madly and he found it equally amusing and adorable as her jaw dropped and she tried to form a sentence in her defence. He watched the cogs turn in her mind, putting together the pieces until she realised.
"We're, we're, we're" She slowly repeated the word until he had had enough. Leaning forward slowly he cut her off with a chaste kiss.
"Pidge , you're glitching."
"Yes, well that happens when you realise you've been in a relationship for the better part of a month and not known."
Keith chuckled. "Imagine how surprised I was when your dad had to point it out to me."
"My Dad?" she squeaked.
Keith smiled. "He just wanted to help me see clearly and get some clarity to keep your mum at bay."
Pidge groaned and dropped her forehead to his chest. "Mum knows?"
"Yeah."
She groaned louder. "Oh no! She's going to be insufferable."
Keith dropped his forehead to hers. "You think that's bad? Wait till Kolivan and Krolia find out."
Pidge laughed. "And Matt!"
Keith stopped laughing. "I can take him."
"Keith!"
He grinned and kissed her again. "Kidding."
