Chapter 8
Kagome woke up in a daze, her head hurt, and her neck hurt. Was last night a dream? She remembered Sesshomaru coming to apologize and her mind went blank after that.
She got up to go shower, as she had another dance class to go teach. The water was hot and welcoming, and dispelled the lingering headache she was feeling. Her neck was still burning, but she ignored it thinking she just slept in the wrong position.
Stepping out the steaming shower, she walked over to the mirror and stared hard at her reflection, shock overwhelming her. Between the cusp of her neck and shoulder rested a magenta-coloured crescent moon with stars aligning it. She doesn't remember how she got this or when this happened, but it sat uneasy in her stomach.
Her mind couldn't help but wonder to Sesshomaru, was this his doing or was something else going on.
She realised she had been staring at herself for a good deal of time and quickly rushed out the bathroom to get dressed for her class. Today she donned on a purple sports bra and matching purple short tights, for movement. She grabbed her black Nike sneakers and quickly made her way down to the kitchen to get some breakfast.
She made sure she manoeuvred her hair to hide the somewhat-tattoo on her neck, so her mother wouldn't see. But as usual her mother was away at work, probably picking up another morning shift. She couldn't actually get angry with her as she was the only parent supporting the household, making sure she was able to afford the lifestyle she currently lives.
She made her cup of coffee and mixed a protein shake, as her mind wondered to what happened to last night. What had Sesshomaru done to her? She was done with all the half-answers and the avoidance. Today after her class, she was going to confront him on what is going on between them, because she knew however this tattoo landed on her, it had something to do with him.
She walked out the front door, towards her car when a shiver went down her neck. She looked around her street, checking if someone was watching her. Kagome saw nothing out of the ordinary, but warily getting in her car, checking her rearview mirror to double check.
Nothing was there.
She drove to her dance class and still couldn't shake the feeling that she was being followed. Today she was teaching a more advanced class, they were learning the more romantic dance of the tango.
She joined with her dance partner to demonstrate the dance, and instantly felt sick; like it was extremely wrong to be his arms and she shouldn't be there. But she bared through as she had to earn her days pay. After the dance was done, she felt like she was near to vomit.
As everyone cleared out, her dance partner approached her with concern in his eyes.
"Kagome, is everything okay? Are you coming down with something?"
"No, everything is okay, I guess I just didn't get enough rest last night and its affecting me." Kagome said, with a fake smile.
Her partner just gave her a wary look before accepting her answer and walking off. She watched as he exited the building before digging for her phone; she needed answers now, whether he wanted to give them or not. Quickly she found her phone and quickly started dialling Sesshomaru's number.
"Hello, my love." Came his sultry voice after only two rings. It made her hesitate.
"Sesshomaru, we really need to speak. Like now, can we please meet somewhere?" She said, with as much confidence as she muster.
For a moment he didn't answer, making her think he had hung up the phone.
"Fine. Meet me at Le'Raige café in 30 minutes." And with that he hung up the phone.
Her heart was beating so fast, she was quite close to the café and it wouldn't take her even 10 minutes to get there. She steadied her breathing, starting to walk to the café just to clear her head before confronting the man.
She made it there in no time and chose to sit at a table outside, letting the fresh air clear her head further. But before she knew it, the chair was being pulled out and someone was sitting across from her.
Sesshomaru.
Her breath hitched, completely forgetting how gloriously beautiful he is and nearly forgetting why they were there in the first place. She shook her head and stared at him with cool, clear eyes. His eyes were once again guarded and cautious.
"What is it that you would like to speak about, little one?" He asked.
Instead of answering him verbally, she moved her hair away from her neck and revealed her tattoo. His breath hitched and for a second his flashed, revealing that he knew where the tattoo came from.
"You know how I got this tattoo. I need clear answers on everything; right now. Because everything in my life has been very confusing since you came into my life." She said, heart pounding.
For a moment he just stared at her, as if internally debating whether or not to lie or tell her the truth. Kagome noted this and got irritated and started to rise to get away from him.
Before she knew it, a hand grabbed her wrist and she turned and stared into his deep golden eyes. "Are you sure you want to be asking these questions? Because the answers are more complicated than you think, kitten." He said.
She looked at him, for a good long minute. "Tell me."
He sighed, gesturing for her to sit down. Kagome hesitated for a minute, wondering if she should just walk away and be done with him, but decided to sit down and listen to his explanation. He stared at her with a longing look in his eye and ran his fingers through his hair before starting his explanation.
"Have you ever heard the legends of demons walking this earth long ago amongst the humans?" He asked.
She silently nodded her head.
"Well then, my darling, I am one of those demons. I was the Lord of the West about 500 years ago. But I revoked my position in order to enact revenge on the one who had murdered my bride." He told her, watching her expression change from shock to horror.
"You're joking right?" She quietly asked, in disbelief.
"Unfortunately not."
"So then did you get your revenge? Who was your bride that you're so in love with, if you slept with me?" She asked, jealousy and venom coating her words.
Sesshomaru just smiled at her, but it didn't meet his eyes; it wasn't a happy smile.
"No I never found who killed her. And to answer your last question little one: you were my bride."
