Izuku being a member of the Department of Management managed to shock everyone at the Sports Festival when he was able to take down one of the villain robots on his own,
Though he did not have a quirk himself, Izuku was still put through a training regime that was close enough to the hero course after all. Since he was going to open up his own hero agency after all.
So would think that as a result of merely being the agency's owner he would not need to put himself through such training however, his mentor thought differently
They both were out of the norm, him and his mentor. While his mentor had a quirk it was abnormal for him at least thus that left him on the outside. To accomplish what he had accomplished it required pushing himself in both body and mind to get acknowledged as much as he has.
However, Izuku would have to work twice as hard to get noticed as being quirkless there would already be people who would question just how he would even run a hero agency in the first place. They would have a number of questions and thus a number of doubts would be formed in regards to him and his agency.
It was with this that he was told to take part in the Sports Festival himself in order to put himself out there. Izuku was not expected to win the festival itself but to get as far as he could to prove that he belonged in school meant for those wanting to train and/or study quirks.
"What did you do that for" Angie said as she ran up beside them.
"It was in the way that I had to take it down," he told her
"I thought we went over this before the festival started. That's what I am here for as I am going to be your assistant after all" she said while glaring at him.
You two have an interesting definition for what you both claim you want to be, do you know that Izuku said
"What was that" she then snapped at him
"Nothing" he replied back to her
The race continues as people are amazed that Izuku is able to keep up with those from the other departments even the general department. Given that you normally would account those being in the Management as being able to do so. Not that it was impossible but it was just unlike that this would be the case.
Izuku realized that he was not going to truly stand out like this as winning the whole thing was his goal it was merely standing out as his own.
Angie who managed to keep up with him looked at those in front of them and then back directly at him mainly that piece of metal that he had been using as a shield until now
She then gave him a look at gave him that scream 'Do not even think about it'
Sighing he did not know what he had done to make the two of them like this as he knew Shoto was not trying to win the festival either. Her goal in transferring into the hero course was not even to become a hero at all but to live up to that childhood promise they made when they first met.
Sighing he then threw away his metal shield an act that was sure to startle everyone that was watching them as they probably would wondering about what Angie's quirk was as well,
She had been put through training that would allow her to use her quirk in a manner that was basically just moment to moment. It was almost like a reflex that she had somehow managed to train. How and why was not something Izuku knew but it had managed to happen.
It could have to do with her quirk and the other properties it might have now that she was really trying to master it rather than just live with it.
"There is no going back after you do this you know," he told her
"It happened once already but this time it would be on my terms," she told him
"Fine" Izuku sighed
The people watching the Sports Festival were amazed when the one quirkless constant took the girl he had been running with like a shield. She used a hardening type quirk though it left her motionless after doing so. With her, like this, she was slammed into the ground and set up several mines that shot both heads of Shoto who was trailing behind Bakugo and were catching up to him. Then they managed to pass him themselves.
Izuku with this manages to get close enough to the run for it himself.
Seeing Shoto and Baguko running to catch up but for different reasons then one might think both they were surprised thanks to the ploy of the two.
Izuku then ran off on his own making a beeline for the finish line. Having taken the time to have that brief interaction with Angie before pulling off their stunt allowed him to get far enough that he would not have needed to make a second attempt.
Managed to get across the finish line first thus making them the winner of the first event of the annual U.A. Sports Festival. The Obstacle Race, a nearly 4 km race around the stadium was won by someone that no one would have expected to ever win it. Not because they could not but because it was unlikely given that a sports festival was not exactly where they normally were.
That being that member of the Management Department had gone about winning the first stage but what made things even strange to everyone watching was that the one from there that did win did not even have a quirk at all. The quirkless Izuku Midoriya had managed to come out on top beating out everyone else that via for the first stage win.
