An Internal Conflict
At the evening, Blake was at the forge, sharpening a sword while Gobber and Thunder looked at him
"There, it's done" Blake said as he showed Gobber the sword who analyzed it
"Hmm… too light and it still needs sharpening" Gobber said
"You know, this would be easier if you taught me how to do it" Blake said annoyed
"I know, but I'm a believer in learning on the job" Gobber said
"I noticed" Blake said annoyed
"But I must say, you're not doing it bad" Gobber said as he placed a hand on Blake's shoulder "You seem to be a quick learner"
"Because I'm one" Blake said "However, I have to say… I kinda feel like I've done this before even though I haven't"
Then, Thunder happily nudged to comfort him, so Blake just gave him a few head pats
"Let me try again" Blake said
"Actually, that's enough for today, you've already done enough" Gobber said as he gestured at a small pile of weapons
"I don't like to stop practicing until I have dominated the skill" Blake said
"It's good to practice but if you push yourself too far it won't be good for you" Gobber said
"I already know that, I learned it the hard way" Blake said with a small shiver
"Well, in that case you saved me the trouble of having to explain it" Gobber said
"Ugh… fine, I'll stop at least for now" Blake said as he began to exit the forge
"See you around then" Gobber said
Minutes later, Blake and Thunder were flying above Berk
"It's… bigger than I taught… I wonder if I'll be able to do this on my own" Blake whispered, even though up at the sky Thunder was the only one that could hear him, he didn't want him to
"I should probably attack the forge first to leave them defenseless… but… the moment I attack the forge the other riders will attack me" Blake whispered
"Those twins and their Zippleback could be useful, they don't look too smart" Blake whispered "It shouldn't be too hard to trick them into helping me"
Blake let escape a small cold laugh that Thunder was able to hear, so he grunted to get Blake's attention
"Don't worry, Thunder… I was just… thinking" Blake quickly lied "Could you take me back?"
Thunder nodded and flew back to the forest, Blake had chosen to apart himself from others, and he was rarely seen at the village
The only one who he went to see was Gobber and sometimes he was also seen around with the twins but he was just with them so they wouldn't annoy him
It only a few minutes for Thunder to land back at the forest, so Blake got off his back
"Thanks, Thunder" Blake said as he petted him "You know… I never thought I'd trust a dragon more than anyone here"
"It's really ironic, isn't it?" a voice asked, it was Hiccup "The dragon you wanted to kill is the one you trust the most"
"What do you want, Hiccup?" Blake asked annoyed "Have you returned to fight me again?"
"No, I just wanted to check on you… it's been a while since we last talked" Hiccup said
"I know, but I don't really care" Blake said
"But I do" Hiccup said "And I haven't seen you much either, all I know is that Gobber has been teaching you how to make weapons"
"Yeah, and what's the problem?" Blake asked
"None, is just that it's kind of curious you accepted to learn how to make weapons" Hiccup said
"Well, I always wanted to know how to, but my father said it was unnecessary" Blake said
"Ha, I doubt you have something to teach me" Blake said
"You'd be surprised, Gobber taught me everything I know" Hiccup said, so Blake thought for a moment
"Well… if Gobber taught you… I guess you could have something to teach me" he said "And in return I could teach you a thing or two about combat"
"Yeah… uh… that's not really necessary" Hiccup said as he rubbed the back of his head
"I know, but… for some reason… it just doesn't feel right" Blake said, slightly annoyed "But it'll have to wait, I had to promise Gobber I'll take a break"
Blake started to walk away while Hiccup and Toothless saw him, but Hiccup let out a small smile because the Blake he knew was still there
Later that night, while Thunder slept in the cave, Blake was looking at a map of Berk he stole in order to plan his attack
"The forge is the perfect place to start… but Gobber might be an obstacle" Blake whispered before closing his fist
"Why? Why I don't want to hurt him?" he said angrily "He's my enemy… just like everyone here"
Unknown to Blake, the twins where walking towards the cave and were listening to him, but he was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't listen them approach
"There's no choice, I'll have to do it if I really want to take over" Blake said
"What are you talking about?" Tuffnut asked, taking Blake by surprise
"What are you two doing here?" Blake asked angrily
"We were looking for you" Ruffnut said
"In the middle of the night?! Are you serious?!" Blake almost yelled
"Yeah, anyway, What were you talking about?" Tuffnut asked
"And why do you have a map of Berk?" Ruffnut asked as she picked up the map
"I… uh… it's n-nothing important" Blake tried to lie
"You sure? Because we heard you talking about taking over something" Tuffnut said
"Are you planning some kind of prank?" Ruffnut asked
"Yeah, that exactly what I'm doing" Blake lied
The twins looked seriously and each other, so Blake got ready to grab his spear and fight them if they didn't believe him, but the twins' expressions changed
"So why you didn't tell us?" Tuffnut said
"You we are masters in doing pranks" Ruffnut said
"I know, I was just… trying to do it on my own after learning so much from you" Blake lied
"Yeah, we are great teachers" Ruffnut said
"Right… so, I'm really tired right now and I really have to prepare myself for the prank" Blake lied, so the twins began to left
"Alright, see you tomorrow" Tuffnut said
"Can't wait to see what you're planning" Ruffnut said
"Just don't tell anyone" Blake said
When the twins left, Blake let out a sigh of relief and sat next to Thunder who was still asleep
"That was close" Blake said as he closed his eyes in order to sleep. However, Thunder wasn't asleep and listened to the conversation, so he opened his eyes and looked sadly at his rider
The next morning, Blake had finished to make a plan in order to attack Berk, so he looked at the map
"Alright, once I've destroyed the forge, the panic will make it easier to attack the Vikings and destroy their houses… the only problem will be Stoick and Hiccup with his friends and dragons" Blake muttered to himself just as Thunder returned with some fish
When Blake saw his dragon, he gave him a few head pats before he dropped the fish, so Blake began to cook it
As he at Thuner ate, the twins were outside of the cave, watching them
"Why is it taking him so long?" Tuffnut complained
"Duh, something big has to be prepared" Ruffnut said "Even Blake said he needed to prepare himself, remember?"
"Oh, right" Tuffnut said "We should wait for a while, then. Just standing here it's getting boring"
"Yeah, you're right" Ruffnut said as she and Tuffnut began to walk back to the village. However, they kept chuckling as they thought on the "prank" that Blake was panning
Their chuckling didn't go unnoticed by the other riders and they all knew that when the twins were chuckling like that, they were planning something
"Alright, what are you two planning?" Fishlegs asked as they walked towards the twins
"Us? We're not planning anything" Tuffnut said, but none of them looked convinced
"Are you seriously expecting us to believe that?" Astrid asked
"It's true, this time we're not planning something, but Blake is" Ruffnut said
"What do you mean?" Snotlout asked
"Last night we heard Blake talking with himself about taking over Berk" Tuffnut said
"Wait, did Blake really say that?" Hiccup asked
"Yeah, we asked him about it and he told us it was just a prank he's planning" Ruffnut said
"Hey, weren't we supposed not to tell anything?" Tuffnut asked as he looked at his sister
"Maybe, I don't know" Ruffnut said "Anyway, see you guys later"
The twins began to walk away as the other teens looked at each other, not believing what they just heard the twins say
"Come one… they can't be serious… can they?" Fishlegs asked nervously
"Yeah, I mean… that's ridiculous" Snotlout said. However, Hiccup still looked serious
"Hiccup, you don't think they are telling the truth, do you?" Astrid asked
Hiccup thought for a moment, he didn't want to believe what the twins said but he saw how Blake had behaved since the day of the accident and he didn't want to take any chances
"I don't want to believe it but… I have the feeling that something it's not right" Hiccup said
"So, what are we going to do?" Fishlegs asked
"I'll go to confront Blake, we need to clear things out before this gets out of control" Hiccup said
"Alright, just be careful" Astrid said
"I will, please stay here just in case something bad happens" Hiccup said as he ran off with Toothless
Meanwhile at the forest, Blake and Thunder were starting to walk towards the village, Blake was ready to start attacking and he even got his spear while Thunder followed him from behind
"Thunder, there's something we need to do" Blake said "Something that should had been done a while ago"
Thunder already knew what Blake meant and he looked a bit hesitant, but before Blake could even notice, Hiccup and Toothless landed in front of them
"What do you want now, Hiccup?" Blake groaned annoyed as he looked at Hiccup, who had his shield
"Blake, what was that about you wanting to take over Berk?" Hiccup asked, so Blake immediately got nervous
"W-What are you talking about?" Blake asked
"The twins told us everything, they told us you were planning to attack Berk and take over" Hiccup said as he glared at Blake
"I knew I should've taken care of them when I had the chance" Blake muttered for himself "So, what if it's true? Are you going to stop me? I've already beaten you before"
"I know, but I'll what it takes to protect Berk, and if I fail the other will stop you" Hiccup said, so Blake began to laugh
"Them? Are you serious? They won't be much trouble" Blake laughed "I've been watching them closely"
"What do you mean?" Hiccup asked
"I know their weaknesses. Astrid is strong yet she's weak, she doesn't have what it takes to… finish the opponent if you know what I mean, besides I felt how she contained herself when we fought" Blake began
"Astrid might not finish the opponent like you say, but that's not a sign of weakness and her bravery has no match" Hiccup said
"Ha, don't be so sure about it" Blake continued "Fishelgs gets easily scared, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ran away at the slightest sign of danger"
"Fishlegs is not the bravest, that's true but he has proved himself to be more than capable to fight back if he needs to" Hiccup said
"Let's not forget about Snotlout, his ego is a fragile shield it'll just take him a while to drop the act and behave like the weakling he is" Blake continued with a laugh "And the twins… well, I don't really think I need to explain"
"Snotlout and the twins are really something, but even them had had their moments where they had fought and protected Berk" Hiccup said
"And does that matter now? I'll get rid of them one by one if it's necessary" Blake said
"No, you won't… I will end this right here and right now" Hiccup said as he prepared his shield
"You? don't make me laugh more than you've already had" Blake said "I also know your weakness; you are completely dependent on your dragon"
"That's not truth" Hiccup said
"Are you sure? The only reason of why the village respects you is because you ride a Night Fury" Blake said "Without him, you wouldn't be anything else but the village's disappointment"
Those kinds of words wouldn't normally hurt Hiccup, but the fact that it was Blake who said them it's what hurt Hiccup but he showed no sign of it
"Actually, I don't even think you are worth of my time. Thunder, do you mind?" Blake asked, looking at Thunder who already knew what he wanted him to do
Thunder thought for a moment and even though he was loyal to Blake, he couldn't see how Blake hurt others and how probably he hurt himself deep in the inside, so instead of attacking Hiccup and Toothless, he looked at Blake and growled at him
"Thunder, didn't you hear me?" Blake asked as he looked angrily at Thunder but he kept growling "You overgrown and traitor lizard"
Blake was about to attack Thunder with his spear but Hiccup protected him with his shield and pushed Blake back
"Get out of my way, Hiccup" Blake said angrily
"Sorry, Blake but your fight is with me" Hiccup said
"You really want to fight me again?" Blake asked as he gave a step forward "Alright, let's settle this just you and me, no dragons. Just you know, I'm not going to hold back"
"I'm not going to hold back either… but… I'm sorry it had to come to this" Hiccup said with a bit of sadness
"Well, I don't" Blake said
Before Hiccup could react, Blake began to attack him with his spear and managed to make him fall. Blake was about to attack Hiccup once again but he rolled out of the way, got up and tried to push Blake back with his shield
"Blake, please… I don't really want to fight you" Hiccup said as he struggled
"I wouldn't want to fight me either" Blake said before kicking Hiccup in the stomach, forcing him to give a few steps backwards
"I'm not… going to give up on you" Hiccup said as he took some deep breaths "Have you… forgotten what you've been through here?"
"I don't care about that!" Blake said
"I know you do, deep inside you, you know it's true… I know who your really are" Hiccup said as he recovered
"You don't know me at all!" Blake said as he tried to attack Hiccup who did his best to dodge or block the attacks
"I know you're still in there, can't you see the signs in your memories?" Hiccup asked
Blake's began to hurt as the images of the things he had remembered appeared in his mind. However, that didn't stop him for attacking Hiccup who had to attack him back
"Just give up for once!" Blake said before Hiccup managed to hit him a few times
"I already told you I'm not going to give up" Hiccup said "Not until you remember who you truly are. Don't you remember how we met or became friends"
Blake's head hurt him even more as more and more images appeared in his mind. Images of how he met Hiccup, the battle with the Red Death, Alvn's first attacks and much more
"Get out of my head!" Blake said as the pain got worse, but he charged at Hiccup and tackled him to the ground, but this time he kicked his shield away and put his foot on Hiccup's chest to prevent him to get up
"This ends now!" Blake almost yelled with rage as he got ready to finish Hiccup but before he could, Thunder shot him a lightning blast, shocking him and leaving him unconscious
Hiccup, still processing what happened, slowly started to get up with Toothless' help
"Thanks, bud… you too, Thunder" Hiccup said
Thunder nodded and looked sadly at Blake and purred as an apology
"We can't leave him here" Hiccup said as he also looked at Blake
Hours later, Blake woke up with a gasp at his room, he looked around as he felt a bit confused but it didn't take him long to realize what was happening
"I… I remember" Blake muttered to himself "I remember everything"
Blake could not believe it. Like he said, he remembered everything… from his life at Outcast Island to his life at Berk
"Oh gods… what have I done?" Blake asked himself as he began to cry "I… I can't believe I was planning to kill everyone"
Then, Thunder entered and when he saw Blake awake, he slowly walked towards him
"Thunder… I… I'm sorry" Blake said as he hugged his dragon who was a bit confused "I… I remember everything"
Thunder looked surprised but he quickly looked happy and purred as he nuzzled Blake
"I'm really sorry, Thunder… for everything" Blake said
Blake slowly started to calm down just as Hiccup entered, so Blake quickly looked away. The shame he was feeling was incredibly big and he didn't have to courage to look at Hiccup either
"Blake… uh… you're awake" Hiccup said awkwardly
"Yeah… I am" Blake said as he turned around, trying to avoid looking at Hiccup
They both remained silent for a moment before Blake decided to speak
"Hiccup… I… I remember" Blake said
"What do you mean?" Hiccup asked
"What I mean is that… I've recovered all of my memories… I remember everything… my life at Outcast Island, my life at Berk… everything" Blake said as he turned around to see Hiccup, before sitting on his bed as he began to cry once again
"Hey, it's okay… you might have remembered something you wish you shouldn't have but-" Hiccup began
"No… it's not that" Blake said "It's just that… I can't believe I was about to kill Thunder, I can't believe I was trying to kill you, I can't believe I was planning to kill everyone on Berk!"
"Calm down, that wasn't you" Hiccup said trying to comfort Blake
"That's not truth… it was me… the Outcast version of myself, the other side of me, call it whatever you want but it was me" Blake said as he cleaned his tears
It took a few minutes, but Hiccup managed to calm down Blake and make him stop crying
"Have you… told the others? About… you know" Blake said
"No, I haven't. all they know is that we talked, we had a small fight and you hit your head hard" Hiccup said
"Huh, I'm surprised you were able to came up with that story" Blake said
"Yeah, to be honest even I surprised myself" Hiccup said rubbing the back of his head
"How long I was out?" Blake asked
"Almost all day, it's already evening" Hiccup explained
"I see... Hiccup, I think you should tell the others the truth… they deserve to know… I need to do something" Blake said as he exited his room and began to walk away with Thunder
"Wait, what are you going to do?" Hiccup asked as he followed Blake
"It's something personal and something I should've done a while ago" Blake said "I'll be back tomorrow"
"Alright, I'll tell the others what happened… I'll see you tomorrow" Hiccup said with a sigh
"Thank you" Blake said before looking at his dragon "Thunder, you think you could take me where I need?"
Thunder happily nodded and allowed Blake to get on his back before flying off as Hiccup saw them leave
That night at Outcast Island, Alvin was at his house making some dinner for himself after a tough day, even though the Outcasts weren't in war with Berk anymore and they learned to be in peace with the dragons, Alvin still needed to maintain order at the island and take care of his duties as chief
He was about to eat the stew he made when someone knocked on the door, so both tired and annoyed he went to open it
"What is it?" Alvin asked annoyedly as he opened the door but he got surprised when he realized Blake was the one who knocked "Son"
"Father… it's been a while, hasn't it?" Blake asked
"Yeah, a whole year actually" Alvin said "So, what brings you here?"
"Well, a lot of things happened and there's a lot of things I'd like to talk about with you" Blake said
Before Alvin could answer, Thunder began to growl as he saw something approaching, it was a Whispering Death who quickly roared at Blake and Thunder
Both dragons were about to attack each other but Alvin quickly put himself between them and started to calm down the Whispering Death
"Calm down, boy. They're not enemies" Alvin said, so the Whispering Death started to calm down before looking back at Blake "Sorry, about that"
"Uh… what's going on?" Blake asked
"Well, this is Viper and he's one of my dragons" Alvin explained
"You have more than one?" Blake asked
"Yeah, her name was Groundsplitter, she was the Whispering Death's mother, so she left with it" Alvin said "Viper on the other hand, chose to stay in the island"
"Wow, I never thought I'd see you with a dragon" Blake said
"So, you said you wanted to talk with me about some stuff, right?" Alvin asked
"Yeah and… it starts with the fact that I've recovered all of my memories" Blake said, taking Alvin by surprise, he expected anything but that
"What did you say?" Alvin asked, not believing what he was hearing
"My amnesia… it's gone… I remember everything" Blake said
Indeed, Alvin and Blake had a lot to talk about
A/n: Hi, after so long I'm happy to be back with another chapter
I really apologize for the incredible long wait but I had a lot going on in my life and to make things worse, my computer got a virus, I still don't know how it happened but I had a rough time with it
Luckily, it's all fixed now and I got my computer a better antivirus, so I don't think it'll be happening again in any time soon. However, I'm still not having as much as free time to write as I'd like but I'll try to bring the chapters faster
I hope you can all forgive me and continue to enjoy the story
