AN: A reader requested a story specifically based on the relationship between Olivia, Elliot and my own character Sophia. She is in my story that's called Mama Liv, if you haven't read it then that's ok as you will get to know her through this!

Olivia picked up her pen and signed off her last folder, it was only 5:00pm and already it had been a long day. She got up and stretched, her back audibly popping and left her office in search of a hot cup of coffee and one of the strawberry jelly doughnuts that Elliot had bought in a couple of hours ago. She filled up her mug and added some creamer and a teaspoon of sugar before helping herself to a doughnut; the only thing she'd eaten today and bit down on the fried treat, an explosion of strawberry filled her mouth and she hummed her appreciation; doughnuts always tasted better when you didn't buy them yourself. In only two big bites, Olivia had finished her food and she made quick work of grabbing her coffee up and heading straight back to her office. She had barely sat down when her phone began to ring, she picked it up promptly and held it between her ear and shoulder.

"Hey, Captain Benson speaking?" She said softly and immediately she tensed up; it was the Narcotics Captain on the phone and she couldn't stand him! He was rude, childish and a misogynistic prick.

"Ah Olivia, it's Mike. The chief rang me up and said that you've got an opening available on your Squad? I was wondering if I could transfer one of mine over to you?" He said, his voice booming over the phone and causing Olivia to flinch slightly at the assault on her eardrums. She rubbed them slightly and looked up, seeing Elliot grinning from ear to ear. He had clearly heard who it was and was now coming to enjoy watching her lose the will to live. She quickly muted the call and rolled her eyes, a small smirk playing on her lips.

"El! Either get in or get out!" She said and watched as he sat opposite her, lazily laying back in his chair and observing what was going on. She unmuted the call and turned her head slightly to avoid Elliot's gaze; he'd make her laugh otherwise!

"So, Mike who is it that you're wanting to transfer over?" Olivia enquired whilst grabbing a pen and paper to get the details off of the man who was currently elevating her blood pressure.

"Her name is Sophia Sanchez, she's only been with Narcotics for 5 months. She's just turned 25 so she's pretty young..." he trailed off and immediately Olivia felt protective of her, she was just a kid! Barely old enough to be a Detective and this kid would be the youngest that they'd ever had in SVU. She looked over at Elliot and could tell he felt the same, the look on his face and the way he went into father mode made Olivia go all funny and she smiled indulgently.

"Sure, send me over her file and if you want then you can bring her over today and we'll have a meeting?" Olivia nodded to herself as she wrote down all the information that Mike was relaying to her.

"Great, see you at 7:30pm then!" She hung up the phone and rubbed her forehead. She was nervous, excited and everything else in between; she had a feeling about this young woman, she could just tell that she would be a breath of fresh air.

"I can't wait to meet her!" Olivia said excitedly and Elliot grinned, it would be good to have a new Detective in their unit. Their last new 'rookie' was Nick and that was 12 years ago! They both looked at each other and smiled, they couldn't wait!

It was now 7:30pm and Olivia was in her office with another cup of coffee, she glanced up when she heard the knock on the door.

"Come in!" She said loudly and put her pen down, frowning slightly as Mike pushed a small young woman into her office. The poor kid looked terrified! She was around 5ft, slim with long brown hair and she had this childlike air about her that was already beginning to pull on her heartstrings. Olivia stood up and made her way over, holding her hand out and allowing the young woman to shake it.

"Sophia? Hi, my name is Olivia Benson. I'm captain of SVU! Go and take a seat on the sofa and I'll be with you in a moment!" She smiled at the young Detective, waiting until she was out of ear shot before she rounded on Mike. Her motherly instincts coming out before she could reign them in.

"What the hell were you doing pushing her into the room like that?! There was no need! You could've seriously hurt her..." Olivia was livid and Mike just smirked, seeing him smirk like that made her want to punch him! She'd always hated that prick!

"She's too soft for our unit! I don't want her back. She's all yours! The transfers are here!" He thrust them into her hands and turned on his heel, leaving the room and Precinct before Olivia could stop him. She couldn't believe it! She couldn't believe that he hadn't stayed to at least make sure that she would be ok. Olivia rolled her eyes and moved to her laptop, quickly making sure that Sophia had been added onto the system properly. Once she was sure that had been done, she shut her laptop off and approached the couch... her heart throbbed slightly seeing Sophia sat there, nervously ringing her hands together.

"Sophia can I sit there?" Olivia said soothingly and sat down next to her when she nodded firmly, chewing on the corner of her mouth. It tugged on Olivia's motherly instincts and she reached down to squeeze her hand, she was shocked by how tight Sophia gripped her hand back.

"So, you qualified as a Detective 6 months ago? Then went straight into Narcotics?" Olivia said softly, trying to make conversation with her. Sophia nodded her head and took a deep breath, she could already tell that she was going to like Olivia.

"Yes, I left school at the age of 15. I got skipped ahead a few grades, I then went to college and left at 18. I really wanted to be a cop so I joined the academy... I graduated from there, did 3 years on the beat and then qualified as a Detective!" Sophia said softly and Olivia grinned, she'd gained a massive asset here with this young woman. She felt very proud of her... the only thing that was playing on Olivia's mind was the schooling side of things; she could tell that there was more to it although she wasn't going to grill her yet.

"Wow, that's pretty impressive stuff rookie!" Olivia said affectionately, gently bumping her with her elbow. Sophia grinned slightly, already she felt comfortable around her boss and in this environment... well to be honest anything was better than Narcotics!

"Thanks Olivia!" Sophia said softly and glanced up at her, there was a look of admiration in Sophia's eyes and Olivia immediately went into 'Mama' mode, gently wrapping a supportive arm around her and just spoke to her, trying to find out more about her transfer.

"You're welcome, honey. So how come you wanted to transfer to SVU?" Olivia spoke soothingly, gently rubbing her arm when she shrugged her shoulders and tensed up. She glanced down at the younger woman and gently tilted her chin up, staring down in alarm as her lip wobbled slightly and before she knew it, Olivia was hugging her tight. It had only been an hour since Sophia had walked into her office but yet she already felt so protective of her.

"You can tell me, whatever we talk about in my office will stay in my office. It's alright, this is a safe place... you can tell me anything!" Olivia soothed and rubbed Sophia's back, pressing a small kiss to the side of her head before she could stop herself.

"I was the only girl there and they just... well, you know what Mike is like! He's a misogynistic asshole... he would encourage the others to leave me out, laugh at me... tease me! You saw how quickly he left!" Sophia let out a whimper and buried her face into Olivia's neck, on the one hand she was mortified that she was crying like this on her new boss but yet on the other hand she felt so safe, like nothing could hurt her whilst Olivia was there.

"Shhh... it's ok!" Olivia soothed, laying back on the sofa and allowing Sophia to lay her head on her chest. This felt safe, this felt nice and Sophia felt heard for the first time in such a long time! She sobbed noisily on Olivia's chest for a while whilst Olivia whispered sweet nothings to her.

"You won't ever have to go through that here, I won't allow it sweetheart. Do you hear me?" Olivia cooed as though she was talking to a child and in some ways she was, she was still a kid who had clearly had to grow up too fast and was only now learning how to handle her emotions. They both flinched when they heard the door open and Olivia glared slightly at Elliot's beaming face; was he trying to give both her and the poor kid a heart attack?!

"Oh Elliot! Are you trying to give us both a heart attack? Sophia, this is Elliot he's my partner and has been for 25 years! El, this is Sophia our new Detective!" Olivia said softly and grinned when Sophia lifted her head to look at Elliot, she wiped her eyes quickly.

"Hi, Elliot it's nice to meet you!" Sophia chewed on her lip and Elliot's heart constricted slightly; she was so young and only a kid really. She reminded him of his own daughters and he bent down to her level.

"Nice to meet you, kiddo!" Elliot reached out and ruffled her hair, taking a seat next to Olivia and listening to whatever was going on. She soothed Sophia for another 15 minutes or so, telling her that this wasn't like Narcotics and she'd be safe here. Sophia nodded against Olivia's chest, turning bright red when her stomach began to grumble. Olivia and Elliot laughed softly, it was getting late no wonder why the rookie was hungry.

"Come on Sophia, let's get out of here. El and I normally go and grab some pizza on a Thursday would you like to come with us?" Olivia asked and Sophia nodded, feeling happy that she had been included as she never had been at Narcotics.

"Come on then, rookie!" Elliot said affectionately, standing up as did both Olivia and Sophia. Sophia was still cuddling Olivia and she walked out of the Precinct still hugging her tight to her body.

"It's ok, kiddo you're safe!" Olivia cooed, what the hell had those bullies done to the poor kid! Olivia and Elliot got into their cars, Sophia rode in Olivia's and sat up front. The entire car ride was in silence but it was a comfortable silence, before they knew it they'd pulled up at their favourite pizza place.

"Come on, darling! Let's get something to eat!" Olivia said soothingly and for the first time in such a long time, Sophia felt safe and at home. No one had ever taken such good care of her before. Neither Olivia or Elliot knew it now just how much little Sophia would change their lives.
