Scotty worked tirelessly over the following few days to get the transmission into the Enterprise and working.

'Just a few more days captain and she will be charged and ready for warp.' Scotty said as Jim nodded appreciatively.

Uhura, Jim and Spock would gather resources and develop a perimeter around the ship as Scotty worked to get her going.

Uhura secretly hated being the only female in a high position on the enterprise as she never wanted to appear weaker than her colleagues. On the mission in the morning, they were ambushed by the same kind of Aliens from the prior day. Jim and Spock fought the three Aliens primarily. Uhura landed a few good punches before she was pushed hard, falling onto a rock with her forehead. She blinked as her ears rung and pain split through her. She was vaguely aware of Jim firing his weapon at her attacker as him and Spock continued to fight.

Uhura scrambled to her feet blinking hard. She fired her weapon at the third one as all three feigned, disappearing. Spock and Jim were covered in dirt and Jim had a small scratch on his face.

'Uhura your head is bruised.' Spock stood forward and tilted his head. Uhura raised her hand and felt the small welt that had appeared on her forehead. She felt dizzy and knew she had a concussion but the others were roughed up also. She could handle it.

'I'm fine thanks Spock. You guys okay?' She said distractingly.

Jim nodded as he sucked his bleeding lip. Spock raised an eyebrow and nodded.

Spock and Jim were checked out by Mccoy as per protocol as Uhura waited in the room.

Spock and Jim spoke in conversation as they walked past her and out of the medic bay. Uhura glanced at Mccoy as he sanitised their stations. She turned to follow after them.

'Back here, Uhura.' Mccoy's voice made her stop. She turned reluctantly.

' I'm actually fine and don't want to waste your time, Bones.' Uhura smiled with forced encouragement. She was incredibly dizzy and her headache was piercing but she had work to do and refused to be the weak link.

Bones raised an eyebrow. ' I'll be the judge of fine thank you.' He patted the bed.

Uhura sighed and walked over to the bed. She pulled herself up and sighed.

' That's a nice shiner on your forehead. Any dizziness or nausea?' Mccoy asked as he moved her hair from her forehead bump that was now purple in colour.

Uhura breathed, not moving her eyes too quick to avoid further dizziness.

' No Bones. I'm good.' She didn't make eye contact.

Mccoy raised an eyebrow and didn't speak for a few seconds until Uhura's curious gaze looked up at him.

' A bump like that normally indicates a decent concussion. Are you sure you don't have any headache or pain?' Mccoy questioned accusingly.

Uhura forced a smile.

' No Bones. and if anything changes I will come straight back but I have a lot of work to do.' She whined.

Bones eyes narrowed. ' Uhura you are a terrible liar. I want to see you by the end of the day or ill come find you myself.' He said sternly.

Uhura huffed in relief. ' Okay.' She had no intention of coming back to med bay today,

Uhura pushed herself off the bed. She stumbled with dizziness as Mccoy grabbed her forearms to stabilise her, concern on his face. She looked up at him.

' I'm fine just clumsy, not related to this.' She gestured to her head.

Mccoy's eyes narrowed. ' Back here today. Dont make me use my medical override and come find you. Concussions are no joke.' He said threateningly, releasing her forearms.

Uhura chuckled and nodded. She left the room, feeling Mccoy's eyes burning into the back of her head.
