Uhura breathed heavy as she changed into her combat clothes. She swallowed pain killers, hoping to improve the migraine level pain and dizziness she was experiencing. Spock and Kirk were busy in headquarters but she had a full day of physical combat training with the other cadets in store. She couldnt believe her luck for this personal development session to fall on the same week she has a concussion to hide. She sighed heavily. It would be suspicious if she tried moving her session and swapping with Jim or Spock.
She got dressed into long sleeve and pants and headed to training.
The air was cold outside as the cadets practiced a range of fitness. Rope climbing, boxing, weapons training.
Nyota did all of the above. One hour had passed and she knew she had two more to go. Her pain killers had not worked and she struggled to stand upright without the vertigo threatening to consume her.
Luckily no close friends were in her class and everyone stuck to their own groups, ignoring her as she took frequent breaks. She was grateful this was not an assessment and just a training so that she could go unnoticed.
Meanwhile, Mccoy paced anxiously. He had a quiet day and couldn't help but worry about his lying little friend. He walked to head quarters.
Jim and Spock stood over a map discussing strategy.
' Sorry to bother you Captain, Commander.' Mccoy said respectfully to the two.
' Where's Uhura?' He asked questioningly.
Jim frowned. ' Oh shes at combat training PD today.' He said distracted.
Mccoy gasped. ' What? I thought she was just doing usual duties today?' He said accusingly.
Jim looked confused. ' Oh no shes outside completing the PD.' Spock frowned confused.
Mccoy huffed in disbelief storming off. Jim shrugged and turned back to the map with Spock.
Uhura stumbled out of the combat area, unnoticed as the other cadets continued. She leaned against the wall, breathing heavy as the pain and dizziness made her want to collapse and sleep. Maybe exercise was not a great idea in this state, she pondered. She leaned against the wall, breathing deeply.
' Uhura!' Mccoy sprinted towards her, concern in his voice. Uhura did not look up to avoid dizziness but heard his footsteps approach quickly. he grabbed her upper arm for support.
He tilted her chin up and shone a light in her pupils as she winced and turned her head away.
' Didn't mention intensive physical training today along with a severe concussion did you.' Mccoy said accusingly as he put his flashlight away. Uhura stood upright.
'I,Im fine.' She breathed heavy between the dizziness.
' Nyota, you can barely stand by yourself.' He said with warmth and concern, still holding onto her upper arm. She realised she was not well as he was right.
'Medbay now. Can you walk?' Mccoy pulled her along as she stumbled.
'yes'. Uhura said with stubborness. The pair walked a few steps before Uhura's pace slowed. She breathed heavier as she tried to blink the stars away from her eyes. She felt disconnected with her body.
'Yeah ill take that as a no.' Mccoy said darkly. He scopped her up into a bridal carry, walking quickly towards the med bay.
