Hello lovely readers! Back at it with another Volturi pairing because I couldn't help myself. I doubt this will be a long one BUT I'm fully invested in this story line so let me know what you think of this first chapter! I promise to have more BPOV in the next one and there will def be some sauciness in later chapters so make sure M content is for you!
Of course, I don't own any of these characters, they're all owned by Stephanie Meyer.
Enjoy!

D POV
"We have a slight problem on our hands, things seem to have sorted themselves out, but just to be sure we're going to need you to travel to America, specifically Forks, Washington" Aro's voice lacked its annoying glee, indicating this was a serious situation.
"What kind of problem? And why does it feel as though it's on my hands now?" I leaned back, crossing an ankle over my other knee.
"The youngest Cullen seems to have broken our number one rule, but it appears the human he was involved with has since died."
I sighed in response, nodding to Alec so he could tell the pilot our new route.
"And Cullen, he dead too?"
"Oh Demetri, of course not! You know Carlisle is one of my dearest friends, and what an opportunity it would be to forge a better connection with young Edward while he's here as well." Aro gushed this time, already in better spirits.
I looked over at Felix who could no doubt hear everything being said and ground my teeth at his smirk. For centuries we'd been letting the animal drinker get away with his annoying little lifestyle, tricking himself into believing it wasn't really fucking obvious that he and his 'family' were anything but human.
"I see" I replied, not bothering to waste my time any longer on this. At least this little side mission would put us closer to the south where I could blow off some steam killing off Maria's latest batch of newborns. Hell, maybe it was high tide I took out the bitch herself, it'd have to be a game-time decision.
"I'm glad you do, Demetri, you know how these things are, never want to—"
"Yes, yes, don't burn a bridge when you're building an empire. We're en route to Forks now, who am I looking for?"
"Her name is Isabella Swan; you should be able to confirm her status at her police chief father's house in town" he supplied.
"Got it. And if she happens to be alive somehow?"
"Kill her, turn her, whatever. She could potentially have a gift of use but it's hard to tell from his muddled thoughts. Do what you deem best, my friend." Aro responded, saying his goodbyes before hanging up the phone.
"What do you think about all this?" Felix asked, stretching back along the couch in the back of the jet, raising one brow in challenge. He's a big fucker and has a gift of compulsion; two things that make him a great asset on these road trips.
"I think I'm very, very close to ridding the world of those yellow-eyed pests myself. Flying to the middle of nowhere to double-check whether or not they're still breaking the law is a waste of my goddamn time."
Felix snorted, "riiight, because we have very limited life spans."
"Feels like it at times like these. Jane called me too, said Cullen was an absolute mess, blubbering and begging them to end his life. He even threatened to reveal himself again, to which Janie pointed out that was why he was in this mess to begin with." Alec grinned, dropping down into a seat across from mine.
"How about we make things interesting" Felix began, making me narrow my eyes in his direction.
"Go on. Unless you're about to say something I'll hate which is likely." I surmised, crossing my arms and waiting.
"Why don't Al and I go down south hunting for newborns, meet up back in Forks in a week and see who does the best?"
"Are you giving yourselves a head start then?" I asked even though this idea proved to be one of his best.
"Yes and no. You're a fucking tracker Dem. You'll be finding those fuckers waaay faster than we can."
"I supposed you're right, being inferior and all I can cut you two a break this one time."
Felix's eyes narrowed and Alec snorted, leaning back into his chair and settling in for the flight.
I'd tie a pretty little bow around Cullen's problems and head straight for Maria's jugular. That's why I'm head of the guard.

B POV
"Isabella Swan, you scared me half to death again! I don't know what to do anymore, I mean I thought you were finally starting to get back on track before this incident. Are you sure you don't need to go back to Arizona?"
Charlie's face had gone from purple to red, only now slowly fading to its normal pallor.
I sniffled a little as I answered from inside my blanket cocoon, "Dad no. I promise it was just a fluke – Jake and his friends do it all the time, I was just trying it out."
"But Bells, Jake and his friends never go alone and they're much bigger than you AND they're not accident-prone klutzes."
"Okay, sheesh dad, the message was received when I spat out water from my lungs earlier. I get it, no more cliff jumping or other reckless activities from here on out, scouts honor!"
Of course, he still didn't know about the motorbikes but that I was really getting the hang of riding mine…sort of.
It's funny, up on that cliff, all I wanted was to hear Edward's voice again, but as I sailed through the air towards the frigid water below, all I could think was how he wasn't there, and wouldn't be. It was time to move on, really move on. No more vamps, or putting myself in risky situations to hear vamp voices.
Victoria was still out there, that much was clear, and whether or not the Cullens were going to come back and help, I had to do my part and make things easy on the wolves and Charlie by living my life for myself.
"How ya feeling now, kid? Are you okay to be alone while I go to the funeral?" Charlie sighed, straightening his tie in the mirror one more time. I felt another stab of guilt, knowing how much harder I'd made today for him.
"I'm okay Dad, really. I wish I could come, but I promise I'll be upstairs getting some rest. Give Sue my best, I'll make sure to bring over a casserole or lasagna later this week when I visit Jake." I offered, starting to scoop up the blankets around me and drag them upstairs.
Charlie gave my shoulder a squeeze on the way by, "Alright kid, I have my cell so just ring me If anything goes wrong. I mean it." He paused to give me a stern mustache twitch before continuing, "I might be out late, but I'll give you a call if anything changes."
I nodded, sniffling again as I continued on my way, hearing the door open, close, and the lock snick into place before he left.
I huffed, climbing the last couple of stairs, wrestling to get my blankets through the door, unaware things were about to get even more difficult for me...

D POV
I reached the Swan house in no time, watching from afar as a man dressed in a black suit heft himself into the driver's seat and back out of the driveway. Clearly funeral clothes, good enough for me. Time to hunt down the wicked witch of the south.
I lifted one foot in the air, pausing when a vaguely familiar signature hit my radar. Cullen.
Running through the surrounding neighborhood I stopped in the middle of the street, making their car screech to a halt, tires kicking up gravel and dust on the county road.
I planted one hand down on the hood, making a dent before locking eyes with the driver.
"Demetri."
I tilted my head to the side slowly, assessing the situation. Seems the Cullens also wanted to make sure their loose end was indeed tied up.
"Time to go back to the turnips, veg. Your little pet's gone." The yellow paint on her fancy car peeled under my nails as I dragged them off the hood, making her lips twist into a snarl before my words made her expression drop in disappointment.
"What are you talking about?" Alice Cullen spat out, yellow eyes narrowed on mine, pale fingers cracking her wheel.
I started tutting at her, "Everything is as it should be…well not everything there's still the matter of dealing with that insolent idiot you call a cov—sorry family member." Quickly losing patience with the conversation, I paced around the side of her car, picking paint from under my nails. "Classic Cullens, breaking the law and then abusing your leader's relationship with Aro to boohoo your case."
Deciding to punch through her window and wrap my fingers around her throat was enough to make her flinch without even having to carry out the act.
I chuckled then waved a hand, "Be gone, Cullen. Go scrape your brother off the castle floor and make sure there are no repeat performances."
But her startled gasp piqued my interest, unfocused and panicked eyes finding mine. "Edward, he's going to reveal his true nature, you have to stop him, please. Demetri. I can't lose my brother."
I sighed rather dramatically, pulling out my phone and dialing a number, glancing at her while it rang, "You owe me a lot of fucking grace for this." She nodded emphatically.
"Hello?"
"Chelsea. Cullen is going to try and get himself killed by revealing himself. We already know that in itself is enough to blind the naked eye. Please see to it that he is stopped now at all costs. Keep him that way until his family can come collect him."
"Idiot. Fine. I'll tell the masters; I'm assuming the psychic saw it?"
"Obviously." I snorted.
"Oh whatever, Demetri. I'll clean up the mess, just make sure you deal with everything else out there. We're all tired of the Olympic coven and southern wars causing us grief." She whined back.
I raised a brow at the Cullen before me whose expression soured once more.
"Excellent." I hung up and turned back to the psychic.
"Alright, seer, off you go. And don't forget you owe me a debt for what I just did. We both know one less Cullen is nothing but a bonus in my books." I winked, grinning as she threw her precious car in reverse and sped off to help her family.
I don't think there was ever a time when being part of a coven like theirs would've suited me. I've been around longer than I care to count anymore, and no one truly does living like the Greeks; life was so much simpler when I was human and a newborn.
I rolled my neck, focusing in on Maria's signature before taking off. Within minutes of my path, I caught the scent of a newborn. Already?
I was clearly still in the Olympic area, probably a hundred miles or so south of Forks. Whoever they were, these newborns were on a path, they had a target.
I took out my phone, quickly dialing his number.
"No fucking way you already—"
"No. I want you guys to finish the mission without me. I found something else on my way down that may prove to be moderately interesting. If not, I'll beat you to Maria in no time." I taunted, hanging up before Felix could retort and taking off back the way I came, running parallel to the newborns.
They were slightly faster due to their speed, but their inability to focus kept them from truly losing me. Coming closer I could sense three different signatures, three newborns hurtling back towards Forks of all places. Fucking Forks.
As we approached, they separated, something rather advanced for vampires of their age. One kept going straight and the other looped around to the east and west, seemingly coming at who or whatever they were after from all angles.
I slowed as they spread out more, halting completely when a bunch of other beings popped up on my radar, their nature unfamiliar as they took two of the three newborns on head-on.
Consider me interested.
I followed the one that continued straight, curious as to the newcomers who seemingly appeared out of nowhere and swiftly took out the others.
As we made our way closer to Forks, I frowned at the direction we were taking.
It can't be. Why here?
The only reason I could think a bunch of newborns had been sent to the Swan house would be if someone wanted to get at the Cullens by going for the girl the boy seemed so fond of.
The Cullens were typically liked or respected by other covens, which had me wondering what exactly spurred this on, and who.
We cleared the outskirts and were quickly approaching the Swan house. I couldn't see the newborn, but I could feel them moving as I tracked their movements. I'd be just barely out of reach to their senses.
As they broke into the clearing around the swan house, bringing me closer than I'd been earlier today, two things happened: one of those things collided with the newborn, taking them out, and I was hit with the most alluring scent I'd ever come across.
Sweet ambrosia filled my dead lungs, sweet and rich like a chocolate strawberry. I nearly groaned at the smell before dropping down to dodge the mystery thing coming at me.
I straightened and turned to see a dog. A large dog, but still a dog.
I could feel a grin breaking across my face until a chuckle slipped out. The dog growled and crouched low as if about to attack but paused. Feeling another lurking behind me I jumped at the last second, landing on my feet and leaning casually against a nearby tree.
"Children of the moon?" I pondered out loud, causing the mutt to growl again. More signatures popped up. A pack.
I tilted my head as I felt them surrounding me, still unphased. "What an interesting little town. Tell me, dogs, why are my kind so drawn to this area?"
The largest one, a russet colour snorted while a grey one beside it snapped its jaws. I felt something changing, flickering my eyes towards another big wolf, this time black, as they morphed into a human male. A naked one. Gross.
I wrinkled my nose, "So, not a child of the moon then?"
More growls sounded out before he raised a hand, "Silence."
He turned back to me, seeming quite young despite the position he clearly held within the group, "You're new." He stated, narrowed gaze still on guard.
I pursed my lips, weighing my options; I could run, or I could see if they're willing to clear a few things up for me. That mouth-watering smell was still in the back of my mind, my limbs itching to carry me towards the source.
"I supposed I am. Not every day you get to visit a town named after simple silverware."
More growls sounded out, the leader spoke up again, "Enough! Leech, why are you here? Your eyes are red so you can't be a friend of the Cullens." He spat.
"Ah, yes. No, I am not. And I'll pardon you just this once for daring to associate myself with that family."
"Then why are you here, tick?" he repeated, slight trembles running through his body. He was around my height and build, easily hitting 6"4.
"One of the Cullens broke our law. I was sent to make sure any loose ends were…tied up, I suppose. I was on my way South when I noticed newborns heading straight back from the very place I'd come from."
As I spoke, I noticed the russet wolf stiffen and growl lowly, before there was a near-tangible shift in the air at my words.
The leader spoke up, "The Cullens are gone. We don't know why the newborns keep coming but we're handling it. We'd appreciate you let your kind know there is nothing left for them here but death."
I smirked back, foolish mutt, "You speak quite arrogantly for a liar." I shot back, feeling the air thicken with the weight of my words.
"Doesn't matter what you think, leech. Leave now before we tear you apart. Piece. By. Piece." He retorted, words coming out a near growl at the end.
All I wanted to do was follow that wonderful scent, but it'd have to wait. I chuckled again, this time to myself. Look at me being patient for once.
"Alright, mutts if you'd like to try," I spread my arms wide in invitation, "go for it".
"Your funeral, tick. Only way you'll escape is when you're going up in smoke." He sneered, dropping back into a crouch in his other form.
What an intriguing day this was turning out to be.
