Cross My Heart- Chapter 2- Monchele Drabbles

Cory was never the one to get angry but when he did, it was either over something that truly upset or disappointed him. Last night him and Lea were having a wholesome date night at home, celebrating their 6 month anniversary, Cory prepped the meal, whilst his leading lady had a hot bath to unwind from the intense dance number she did that day. Whilst Cory was setting up, he saw that Lea had left her phone on the kitchen counter he was never one to snoop into someone's privacy, he trusted Lea, well he thought he could.

As he was cooking away, he heard Lea's phone ping and the name Theo flashed upon her phone screen reading "yes, we can talk." Cory could feel the blood drain from his body, his whole body feeling light. What did Theo want? And why did Lea need to talk to him? First and foremost, why hadn't she said anything to him. When Lea came down from her bath, that's when things started to get heated. He was open and honest with her but all she could throw back at him is that "you're invading my privacy" "you don't trust me" and "you're controlling" that one hurt Cory a lot. A argument broke out between the pair, which was rare for the couple as they were like best friends, they couldn't be mad at one another and if they were, it'd only ever be playful banter. Cory began to get louder and so did Lea, to the point where Cory picked up his keys and left Lea's, leaving Lea to her own thoughts and feelings about the whole situation. He had never been so angry especially at Lea.

Cory was now driving into paramount studios, his head spinning with so many questions and scenarios about last night's event. He really didn't want to go into work today, he knew he had to, they promised Ryan that their romantic relationship would not affect the working environment, especially for other cast members.

Jumping out his car, after parking in his usual car parking space, he saw that Lea had already arrived, he wasn't surprise, she was always on time. It just felt strange them not arriving together. Heading for the studio doors, he signed himself in and made his way to the Glee set. As he entered the big double doors to the set he was greeted with Chris having his usual croissant and cup of coffee, sat in his chair as he aimlessly scrolled on his phone.

"Hey Chris, how you doing man!" Cory said overly chirpy and pulling his chair beside him.

"Mornin, Monteith, I'm very well, how are you doing on the fine Tuesday Morning?"He greeted with a smile.

"Yeah yeah, all good!" Cory stated not trying to make it too obvious he was looking for Lea.

"You didn't come with Lea today then?" Chris asked, breaking him away from his thoughts.

"No, no, she had a long day yesterday so she just went home and so did l." Cory lied.

"Trouble in paradise?" Chris said instantly, finishing the last part of his croissant, brushing the remaining flakes off his fingers.

"Of course n- "

"I'm not stupid Cory." Chris chimed in before Cory could finish. "I know it's none of my business but she came in, with bags that could be seen as Gucci's finest handbags under her eyes and you look like you've seen a ghost." Chris said giving him a knowingly look.

As Cory went to speak, Lea walked through the double doors, already in her Rachel outfit and makeup. Cory's eyes followed her as she made her way to Diana and Jenna, not even spotting Cory or his wandering eyes as she spoke to the girls.

"She had a text from Theo last night on her phone, saying 'yes, we can talk.' and one thing led to another and we argued. I went back to my place and that's that I suppose." Cory said shrugged.

"As in Theo Stockmen? Her ex?" Chris asked.

"That's the one." Cory said annoyingly.

"You know, she was in contact with him because he was threatening to go to Perez Hilton right?" Chris asked.

"No? What do you mean, Go to him?"

"He was going sell this story to Perez about you, I don't know what about apparently he was going to make you look like a 'total jerk' but all I know he was just really upset Lea ended things with him, to be with you." Chris admitted.

"Why didn't she tell me?" Cory asked in a shocked tone.

"She didn't want you worrying, she thought because it was her doing, she should clear it up so was planning a phone call to him to put it all to bed and give him the answers he was desperately craving to stop him from doing it, she was protecting you. I did tell her to tell you but you know how she gets." Chris said rolling his eyes.

"She was just protecting me.. Chris man, I feel awful." Cory said rubbing his face.

"Only you can make it right buddy." Chris said getting up from his chair to get ready for his scene with Darren.

As Chris walked off, Cory whipped out his phone, instantly texting Lea he needed to talk to her, he didn't want to go over just incase it got awkward for them both, especially with Diana and Jenna there. Cory watched as Lea pulled her phone out mid conversation with the girls, reading the text, she did slightly roll her eyes at the message but her eyes scanned the room till they met Cory's. All Cory could do was give her a sympathetic smile.

"I'll be back soon girls." Lea said as she got up from her seat and approached Cory. She was still very angry with him but that smile could cast her in like a spell.

"What?" Lea said in annoyed tone looking around her to see if anyone was listening.

The tone and what she said caught Cory off guard but he proceeded.

"You look very pretty today." Cory stated, totally confusing himself where that had come from.

"Have you just called me over here to butter me up and think you can get away with what you did last night?" Lea hissed rolling her eyes back in annoyance.

"No Lea, I'm sorry, like truly sorry, Chris told me what it was all about.. why didn't you just tell me?" Cory said searching in her eyes for some answers from where he was sat.

Lea shrugged. Tears welling up in her eyes, breaking eye contact with Cory and looking else where but him.

"Hey, don't get upset." Cory said grabbing her hands gently.

"I just didn't want you to get hurt because of me, I didn't want you to be dragged down in my mess." Lea said tearfully, still not looking at Cory.

"It's not your mess, we are a couple. We deal with it together. You had no control on what Theo was planning to do, that isn't your mess.. that's his." Cory said softly.

"I know but why did you walk away so easily?" Lea turned at this point looking at him breaking the hand contact they were sharing "don't you trust me?" Lea asked.

"I was angry Lea, l saw the message and my head went all over the place, you were calling me these names too, which rightfully so, you should especially when I went all guns blazing like I did but I am not like that, I trust you. I just don't trust him. I walked away because I just needed time away from it all, although half the night I d spent looking at photos of us" Cory admitted.

At this point Lea, wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head into it, it didn't take Cory long to reciprocate the affection and held her by her waist as she stood in the middle of his legs.

"I'm sorry Cory." Lea said shyly, they've not really fought before so this was a first for them both.

"Don't be sorry, I'm just so glad to have you back in my arms." Cory said squeezing the life out of her breathing in her scent that felt like home.

"But I said all that awful stuff to you and I didn't mean it. You're the best boyfriend and you've never been any of those things." Lea said

"That doesn't matter now, this is what matters, us, always." Cory said rocking her back and forth "although, you do owe me one thing."

"What?" Lea asked.

"A kiss and a date for our six month anniversary" Cory smirked.

"I can give you that" Lea giggled kissing him gently.

"Stay at mine tonight?" Lea asked as she pulled away her hands on Cory cheeks gently stroking them.

"On one condition" Cory asked.

"What's that?" Lea smiled.

"You tell me what Theo was so desperate to share about me." Cory said placing her on his knee.

"He wanted to sell a story about you supposedly cheating on me in Vancouver, if I didn't openly admit to him the truth about what happened between us.. so when you left last night, I did call him, out of angry and told him from the get go it was always going to be me and you that winded up together" she said shyly, "he made a promise that he wouldn't sell the story and wish us the best, I deleted his number and that's that" Lea said looking at him.

"God, I love you" Cory said in awe "thank you for protecting me but please just tell me next time, so I don't have to spend a night on my own, looking at photos of us, it was a very sad time" Cory laughed.

"I love you too and I will, I promise, cross my heart, hope to die" Lea said pecking his cheek. "I'll make up for your sad time tonight" Lea winked.

"Lea! Your on! Cory makeup are ready for you" Brad shouted. Breaking them away from their little conversation, they were both so glad that the room was big enough so nobody could hear them.

"Good luck beautiful, I love you"

"I love you more!" Lea said hoping of his knee and running to Ryan and the rest of the gang.

"If you say so."Cory muttered underneath his breath beaming like a little kid. He knew from that moment, that girl was his safety net and he felt so damn lucky to have her.
