A New Beginning - Chapter Two
All known characters and their ages (just to gives us an idea on how old they are):
Yugi Muto - 20
Joey Wheeler - 20
Serenity Wheeler - 19 (I don't know how much younger she is than Joey so I just made her a year younger)
Solomon Muto - 60s
Chiharu Taiyou - 21
It's 5:30 pm, which means closing time for the game shop. Yugi, Joey, and Serenity just got done with another busy day. Joey is restocking all the shelves that were full of games and other items, while Yugi and Serenity handled work at the front desk. After Joey puts the last item on a shelf, he takes the opportunity to walk over to Yugi and ask him "So Yug, are you ever gonna introduce us to the pretty girl we saw?"
"Wha- what do you mean?" Yugi blushingly replies, taken back by Joey's unexpected question.
"Pretty girl?" Serenity questions, confused by what Joey is saying.
"Yeah, Yugi was crushing hard for this girl this morning." Joey says.
"No I wasn't!" Yugi replies, blushing a little harder.
"Oh yes you were buddy." Joey says.
"Sh-shut up!" Yugi replies, more irritated than earlier.
"Okay, okay. Both of y'all calm down" Serenity says, trying to calm them down.
"Alright," Joey responds after realizing how intense the argument was getting. "But seriously Yugi, are you ever gonna introduce us?"
Yugi let out a small sigh and said "Well, I did tell her that I'd introduce y'all to her."
"Really, that's nice." Serenity says excited.
A few minutes later, Chiharu is inside her bakery and taking her apron off. She starts to close down her bakery and starts walking over to Yugi's game shop, remembering that he promised to introduce her to his friends. She sees Yugi walking out from the front door with a tall blonde man and a young woman with long light brown hair.
"Hello Yugi!" Chiharu shouts to get his attention.
"H-hi Chiharu!" Yugi replies, blushing a little bit.
Yugi, Joey, and Serenity start to walk over to where she was standing. "Joey and Serenity," Yugi says, taking the opportunity to introduce them to each other. "This is my friend, Chiharu Taiyou!"
"It's very nice to meet you!" Chiharu says as she happily greets Joey and Serenity.
"Chiharu, these are my friends, Joey Wheeler and his sister Serenity!" Yugi says.
"Nice to meet you!" Joey and Serenity say as they greet Chiharu.
After a few minutes of chatting, Joey took the opportunity to grab Yugi while Chiharu and Serenity were distracted. "So Yug, in all seriousness, are you ever gonna ask her out?" Joey asks. "She seems like a nice person!"
"Oh come on," Yugi says as he's starting to feel annoyed. "It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I haven't dated anyone since that one time with Téa at that amusement park and-"
"So you do like her," says Joey as interrupts Yugi. "I KNEW IT!"
"Shhh, don't let them hear," says Yugi as he's trying to silence Joey. "Come on Joey, can't we just drop it?"
"Alright bud," says Joey as he agrees to stop teasing him. "But if you want my advice, you better ask her out as soon as possible." After Joey said that, Yugi instantly gets lost in thought, wondering if what Joey said was right.
Meanwhile, while the two friends were talking, Serenity and Chiharu were getting along pretty well."So that's how those two met," says Chiharu after Serenity got done telling her how Joey and Yugi met. "It's nice to know how things worked out for them in the end!"
"I know," says Serenity in agreement to what Chiharu just said. "And it's all thanks to that puzzle!"
"Puzzle?" Chiharu asks, wondering what Serenity means.
"Oh sorry," says Serenity as she realizes she's said too much. Before Serenity could tell her what she meant, her brother walks up to them and interrupts their chat. "Sorry Serenity," Joey apologizes as he's interrupting them. "It's getting late, so it's time to head home."
"Okay!" Serenity says as she realizes how late it is.
"Well, it was nice meeting you Chiharu!" Joey says as they get ready to leave.
"It was very nice to meet you too!" Chiharu says as she says her goodbyes.
"Before you both leave, here's both of y'all's weekly checks for your hard work." Yugi says as he stops them from leaving.
"Thank you Yugi" says Serenity as she happily accepts the checks.
"Thanks Yug, and don't forget what I said okay." Joey says as he reminds Yugi of what they were talking about. Yugi blushes but doesn't respond.
Both Joey and Serenity say their goodbyes and leave. Chiharu then starts to realize how late it really it is and says "Well, I should head back home. I'll see you tomorrow Yugi."
Before she could turn around, Yugi immediately says "H-hey, Chiharu."
"What's wrong?" Chiharu asks as she turns around.
"S-so Chiharu," Yugi says as he starts to blush. " I was wondering if you'd like to go to a… place, or a… thing… together."
After a few seconds of silence, Chiharu responds by asking "Are you asking me on a date?"
Yugi's pulse begins to rapidly increase and his face starts to turn completely red. "U-uhm… yes." Yugi says as starts to sweat.
"Great. Sounds fun." Chiharu says as she notices Yugi's behavior. "Where would you like to go?"
Yugi takes a minute to think, "Well, there's a new tea place down the street, maybe we could go there."
"Great, so I'll see you tomorrow then." Chiharu says as she agrees to go to where Yugi suggests.
"O-okay." Yugi says timidly.
Great, see you tomorrow." Chiharu says as she leaves for her bakery."
"Okay, bye." Yugi says as she leaves.
'WOW, Joey was right, the sooner I ask her the better.' Yugi thinks as he walks to his game shop.
"ACHOO". 'Man, where did that come from?' Joey thinks after he sneezes.
Chapter 2 is complete. Sorry if this chapter is pretty long, I wanted to develop the story a little more. Now I would like to say a few things. First off, I will be posting chapters every weekend because I'm busy during the week. Second, this isn't a definite plan because I might change my mind, but I plan on making ten chapters of this story. Third, I'll make sure not to make the chapters this long and try to be as small and smooth as possible. Fourth, the next two chapters will just be about Yugi and Chiharu and their relationship. Fifth, I will be making actual references to the manga in later chapters, so be patient. Sixth, I know I said I wouldn't put any peachshipping in this fanfic, but I wanted to make it sound like Yugi had a reason why he hesitated to ask Chiharu out.
