Since being sent on her mission to deal with Riddler, Rena Rouge has encountered at least 239 of his riddles and is beyond pissed off right now.
"I swear, you will owe me so much for this shit, Marinette." Rena grumbled to herself.
"Aww, what's the matter?" Riddler asked, mockingly. "Guess 'clever as a fox' doesn't have no true meaning after all."
"Just you wait Eddie." Rena said. "One day, you will show that ugly face of yours, and I'm gonna be the one to punch it."
"Oh, silly stupid, fox." Riddler said. "When will you learn? I'm practically untouchable. You can't outsmart me!" As he said this, Rena found three more riddles and was about to pick up the last one.
"Maybe, but guess what?" Rena said, confidently. "This clever fox just found the last riddle. Game over, Riddler."
She then activated a tracker that Ladybug had given her to track Riddlers broadcast.
"What?" Riddler asked, shocked. "You did it?? You must have cheated. There is no way you could have beaten me."
"Maybe next time, focus on actually making this harder instead of trying to prove a point." Rena said.
"Well, you asked for it, Rena Rouge." Riddler said. "My final challenge for the whole of Paris is just seconds away...Wha?" He then head sirens beginning to sound in the distance.
"Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath, Nigma." Rena said, smugly.
"Sirens!" Riddler yelled. "The police! You cheated, Rena Rouge. You couldn't have outsmarted me!" Then several policemen pound on the door.
"Honestly, I think you have bigger problems right now." Rena said, continuing to smug.
"Police! open up."
"No!" Riddler said.
"I said open the door, Now!!" The cop knock down the door. "Down on the ground! Down on the ground!" The cops pinned Eddie to the ground.
"No!! Tell me!" Riddler begged. "How did you work out where I was?? Do you hear me? I, Edward Nigma, will...argghhh." That was all he got out before he was tased.
"Have fun in prison, Eddie." Rena said. "Don't drop the soap."
Afterwards, she walked in the yard of the Intensive Treatment and sat on the hood of the damaged Lamborghini. She decided to make a few calls.
"Hey Micro." Rena said,
"Yes Rena, I'm here." Micro said.
"Make a reminder to have our comms channel double checked and improved." Rena said. "I don't want another idiot like Eddie hacking us again."
"I'll be sure to make a note." Micro said.
"Thanks." Rena said, before asking. "So, how are my girls? Are they asleep." (AN Known fact: Nino and Alya are parents to twin girls, Hayley and Mary. They are both 10 years old at this time.)
"Been asleep since the night started." Micro said. "Had to put soundproof earmuffs on them to make sure they don't hear me and been checking on them every 10 minutes to make sure they stay sleeping."
"Thanks again for looking after them." Rena said. "Would've gotten their usual sitter but she called out."
"It's ok." Micro said. "I don't mind it. They are fun when they get energetic."
"Yeah, they are." Rena said. But Micro heard some kind of hesitation in her voice.
"Alya, what are you thinking?" Micro asked.
"Do you think it's fair for me to keep all this hero side of us a secret from them?" Rena asked.
When Nino and Alya become parents, they tried so hard to make sure that their children never found out about their hero sides until the felt they were ready to tell them. But there were times when they were almost caught.
"Honestly, Alya, I think that's something for you and Nino to discuss." Micro said. "I can't really make the decisions for you since they are not my kids."
"I understand." Rena said. "Thanks for the advice, Sabrina. Keep helping Marinette and Chloé. I'll join them as son as I can."
"Ok." Micro said, ending the call. Rena decided to call her husband.
"Hey, Carapace." Rena said.
"Rena, what's up?" Carapace asked.
"How are the rest of you finding the bombs?" Rena asked.
"So far, nothing interesting." Carapace said. "But I wanted you to know, the Police did find one of Joker's bombs. It was full of marzipan and kittens."
"If that's true, then it's just a twisted diversion." Rena said. "The real action's here on Arkham! We've been playing in his hands the whole time."
"Should I get the team ready to go to Arkham?" Carapace asked.
"No, don't." Rena said. "It's already a risk having me and Stinger here. We don't want anyone else coming over either."
"So, what can we do?" Carapace asked.
"Just be on standby." Rena said. "If you see anything leaving Arkham that doesn't look friendly, take it out."
"Roger that, ma'am." Carapace said, before asking. "How are the girls?"
"Micro said that they're sleeping." Rena said. "Do you think we should tell him about our hero sides?"
"I thought we agreed to tell them when they were old enough." Carapace said.
"I know but I can't help but feel guilty about not telling them at all." Rena said. "I mean, they're our kids. They are not exactly stupid."
"I know." Carapace said. "Do you want to tell them, Alya?"
"I don't know, Nino." Rena said. "A part of me wants to, but at the same time, I'm scared someone might kidnap them if they think they know about it."
"Why don't we discuss when we're not not the job." Carapace suggested. "I gotta get back to work."
"Ok." Rena said. "I need to find Ladybug and Stinger. We need to keep Arkham from getting a prison escape. And we all know that's the last thing we need."
"I know." Carapace said. "Just make sure you girls stay safe. I love you."
"We will." Rena said. "I love you too."
With that, she ended the call and laid down on the hood. So much was happening all at once and it's hasn't even been half the night yet. All of them were halfway done with their 30s and they felt like time was starting to take a toll on them. Most of her friends had kids, others were dating, one of them was paralyzed, and one of them was struggling to keep her humanity in check while bearing all the pain.
You can't keep this up forever, Marinette. Rena thought. You and Chloé need to start thinking of your personal lives. You both might be married, but you need to think more on your future. Go on more dates, have kids, grow old together.
Rena must've been there for minutes when she felt the car turn on. She saw that there was no driver which can only mean one thing.
Hope you don't mind being my Uber, car. Rena thought.
She made sure she had a good grip on the car before it zoomed away. She saw that she was approaching the location when she saw her friends, Roger, and a all to familiar mass of muscle.
I'm alive, folks. Like with my other story, I'm sorry for not updating for a while, but with everything starting to settle down, I should be updating when I can. And I'll try to be quick when updating this story. Sorry if this chapter isn't long, but I just wanted to get done with Rena Rouge's side of the story.
So yeah, Nino and Alya are parents in this, along with a few others. Their kids don't know about their hero sides. Maybe one day, I'll can write something that make them know, but as of now, it's only a thought.
But other than that, here's the next chapter. Next time, Ladybug and Stinger continue to look for Roger and they meet a familiar face.
As always, let me know your thoughts.
