WRONG DECISIONS

Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

After Bella had calmed down, she turned to Irina and told her to book a private jet that could leave within the hour for Chicago. Then she quietly rose and left the room to go pack a few things for her trip.

CHAPTER 10: HERE COME THE SHOCKS

"Do you want me to go with you?" Irina asked Bella while the both of them were packing a suitcase for Bella.

"No. No, this is something that I'm going to have to do on my own. It's going to be difficult enough as it is." Bella responded. It was taking everything she had in her to try to stay calm as it was when all she wanted to do was to sit down and sob her heart out because her babies had been taken.

The only thing that was keeping her from letting go of her emotions completely was that her babies needed her to keep it together and to do everything within her power to bring them back home safely. And it seemed that the only way to get the twins back safely was to make the trip that she was about to make. A trip that she very much dreaded because she knew that it was going to set off many tempers and an attack against her decisions of the last few years.

The decisions that Bella made believing that she was acting in the best interest of her children. She made all of her decisions by putting her children first in her thoughts. They were her number one priority and she felt that by keeping them out of the public eye was the best way to keep them safe.

Trying to explain everything to Edward and the rest of the Cullens wasn't going to be an easy task, but she had no other choice except to go to them. Irina was correct about the Cullen's having the resources that would probably be needed to get Annabella and Anthony back home where they belonged. Resources and the connections that law enforcement didn't have.

Even though this trip was necessary for the sake of the twins, she knew that certain demands were going to be made once this situation was resolved. Her babies were no longer going to be able to live in seclusion, the Cullen's will make themselves very much known in her children's lives.

Sam and his friend, Aaron looked at the two sleeping children with a happy smile on their faces. Taking the children had gone without a hitch. And now all they had to do was to wait a few days before getting in touch with their mother to tell her where to drop the money.

The twins could be kept quiet and fed without them seeing who had taken them, that way no harm had to be done to the children.

After the money drop had taken place then the information of where the children could be found would be related to the mother and no harm done. The children stayed safe and alive with Sam and Aaron making a clean get away.

Sam had decided to leave Paul out of the action because Paul was too closely connected to the Volturi bunch, and he was too wishy-washy in making decisions as to the kidnapping.

Sam understood that Paul wanted to get away from the Volturi's but he didn't have the drive or strength of character to make the effort.

Unfortunately, the biggest problem that Sam was unaware of was the fact that another interested party that was wanting to have an advantage with the Cullen family had been keeping Bella and the twins under observation. So, it goes without saying that Sam and Aaron were seen kidnapping the children. And, then the two men were followed to their current location still totally unaware of the danger that was slowly marching their way.

While Sam is busy counting the rewards that he's expecting to receive from this little event, he was careless enough not to pay attention to all that had been going on around him and Aaron. Both men were unaware that they had been observed and that the possibility existed that neither man would be able to live long enough to enjoy the benefits they thought they had worked so hard to receive.

Each man was busily planning how he would spend and enjoy his life once the ransom had been paid. They weren't aware of the shadow that was creeping closer to the place where they were with the children.

One went to bed to sleep for a while as the other remained awake in case the children awoke and tried to roam around. So, as the night drew late the shadow entered the place and slipped upon Aaron to slit his throat. Not a sound escaped that would have alerted Sam as to the danger that was after him.

Entering the room where Sam was sleeping on a cot in the corner, the assailant once again quietly approached and with a quick flick of the wrist, sliced Sam's throat. Both men were left to bleed out from their wounds.

Once both of the original kidnappers were dead, it took little to hardly any time for the twins to be transferred into the back seat of a waiting vehicle and were taken to another place.

Once the assailant had arrived at his destination, he quietly but quickly got the two children transferred into a comfortable bed. All had been accomplished without disturbing the innocence of the twins and they were completely unaware of what had happened to them during all of this time. That is as of yet since they had been drugged and were still under the influence of that drug.

He stood looking down at the youths and gave one shake of his head before turning away to get settled for the night himself knowing that he wouldn't be alone for long.

Once his partner arrived then he could get down to the serious business of setting his plans in motion. The bid for money that had been demanded from Sam and Aaron wasn't of interest to him; he had bigger things in mind and needed the leverage of the twins to get the Cullen's to do what he needed to be done.

Bella arrived in Chicago still without a clear plan in mind of how she was going to approach the Cullens, especially Edward, with what she was going to have to tell them. It worried her that she had no clear idea how to even begin the conversation that would inform Edward that he was a father of twins.

Just the thought of having to do that and the picture that would flash suddenly into her mind of how she thought that he would react to the news had her worrying even more as to what or rather more of how she should handle this. The one thing that was glaringly true to her was the fact that it had to be done to be able to save her babies.

She wasn't afraid of Edward; she had no reason to be since he wasn't the type of man to abuse a woman. His parents had been very strict about certain things in his upbringing that had to do with the ethics of the laws of the Family Code that ruled all the Families of the Mob world. That is if the upcoming "new" families followed the code as well that had been established in the early years of the beginning of the mob families, but some of the newer ones chose what laws they would or wouldn't follow depending on the convenience of the circumstances and their own beliefs.

Bella had rented a car to use during her short duration in Chicago and pulled into the hotel near the airport where she had decided to stay. And it was after getting checked in and slightly unpacked that Bella decided to make a phone call to see Edward.

She tried calling his personal cell phone, but received no answer, so she hung up and called his office. The woman that answered told Bella that Mr. Cullen was in his office but was not taking any additional appointments for the next few days. Bella tried to explain that the matter was rather urgent, but the woman refused to be of any help in the matter.

She demanded to know what could be of such urgency that it would need for Mr. Cullen to put everything on hold just to deal with the situation. However, Bella refused to be intimidated by the strange woman's attitude. In fact, she had no problem recognizing the reason for the woman's attitude since Bella had to deal with it even while married to Edward: it was that the woman felt she had something special with Edward when Bella knew Edward well enough to know that he wouldn't become involved with an employee.

"Since you don't want to tell me about why you're calling or what is so urgent that requires Mr. Cullen's immediate attention? Would you like to leave your name and a number for him to be able to return your call in a day or two?"

Bella was getting tired of the woman's snobbish attitude, so she replied in kind, "No I don't want to leave any information for you to toss out as your attitude implies that you'll do exactly that. But you can tell EDWARD that a voice from the past is trying desperately to get in touch with him." And with that Bella hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Bella contemplated what should be her next move. Time was against her, so she didn't have the luxury of waiting around. It didn't take her long to decide that it might be a good idea to call Esme. Maybe that would get her in touch with Edward quicker.

She dialed the number that Charlie had given to her and listened to the phone do nothing but ring until voicemail answered. Hanging up she sat trying to think of what else she could do. Finally, she thought about calling Carlisle and that thought caused butterflies to take up residence in her stomach.

The next thought she had was to give Alice a call but decided against doing that. Instead, she decided to make the trip downtown since she knew that Edward was in his office. If she made enough noise, she knew that Edward would hear and come out of his office to check what was causing such a disturbance.

It didn't take long for Bella to get ready and then to make her way downtown to Edward's office. It seemed that it was lunchtime, and no one was about at the moment that could stop her from approaching Edward. Bella heard someone speaking behind a closed door which she knew was Edward's office, so she knew that Edward had to be in his office.

She quietly walked over and opened the door then stood there observing the man that used to be her husband. It seemed that he hadn't changed much over the years except to become more distinguished looking.

Feeling like he was being watched, Edward glanced up and stopped speaking to whoever was on the other end of the call. In fact, he was so caught up in the surprise standing in his doorway that he hung up on the person without realizing what he had done.

With a slight shake of his head, Edward opened his mouth to speak but no sound came forth.

Bella looked at her ex-husband for a few brief moments before advancing further into his office and closed the door. She looked at him and said, "Edward, we need to speak, and I urgently need your help. The kind of help that only you and your family can give."

Morning came along with his partner. From all of the noise that was made as V entered it quickly brought him out of a sound sleep.

Getting up he went into the room where the twins were still unconscious due to the drug that had been used on them several hours earlier by Sam and his partner.

"V, why the hell are you making all of that racket? What are you trying to do; wake the kids up?" He demanded to know.

"No, but we do need to get things organized so this whole thing will move forward quickly, and we gain what we want. Also, did you have any problems getting kids away from Sam and his friend?" V asked him while still trying to get some things like groceries and clothing sorted.

"There was no problem getting the kids. Everything went smoothly. I'm planning to give Carlisle Cullen a call in about another hour because I want to give it enough time to make sure I have his attention."

"J, is all of this really going to work, and we really get what we want? Or is it going to come down around us with a vengeance?" V asked with some doubt sounding in the voice.

Within another thirty minutes sounds from the bedroom where the children had been placed, so V went to check on them and to take them something to eat.

Before entering the room V made sure to put on a mask; that was for everyone's protection. That way the children wouldn't be able to identify anyone so there would be no need to get rid of them.

After everyone had eaten, J reached for his phone and placed the call to Carlisle Cullen.

AN: Edward has had a shock smack him between the eyes and Carlisle is about to get a call that is going to advance the shocks even further. What will be the outcome when Edward hears what Bella has to tell him? Also, what will be Carlisle's response to what J tells him?
