Chapter 8: the painkillers
Drugs still in his system when he was laid down Alex slept quite soundly though dreamless, unannounced to him as his body processed the drugs the soreness turned to a sharp pain in his lower body and arm. His mind began to process the pain unhindered by the drugs dragging the recent memory to the fore front, first the thunderous crack shot of his rifle then the many hands reaching for him then the push… wait the push pieces fell into place at first his mind realizing he did not fall out of choice.
The memory replayed again and again and again not making the pain any easier to handle but instead amplifying it, the idea that it was not just a twist of fate but someone actively trying to kill him ate away at him. 2 whole years of running only to result in being in Alex's mind mangled and disgraced it was not fair or right he just wanted to scream he just wanted-
The thought was interrupted by yet another wave of the pain of steel on bone as the memory played again getting Alex to wake up with a scream clutching at the wraps that squeezed blood trough what remained, "STOP STOP! NO! IT AAAAAH!" he screamed as the door was flung open and Nina came rushing in.
"ALEX! IT'S OK I AM HERE! MUMMYS HERE!" Nina said in a hurry picking up Alex pulling his hands away from his stumps, Alex's only response was more thrashing so using her free hand Nina moved Alex so his head was resting over her heart and closed her eyes trying to channel calm mind.
Through the deluge of physical and mental pain he could feel something began to force its way through, a slow but gentle thumping echoed through at first then came a constant stream of cooing from what was unmistakably from Nina. His mind began to clear realizing where he was but the physical pain was still there his brain trying to contact his legs was threatening to throw him back into what ever woke him up.
Alex's scream turned to a sob as the ability wormed from his head down his body but Nina noticed it was not enough, "mu-mum-a mama help" Alex groaned out as Nina let his hands loose letting them rest against the boys chest. "I know mama's gonna help all she can," Nina said using life dew to conjure a small sphere of water in her hands "now drink" she said holding the water to Alex's mouth, Alex opened his mouth and began at first lapping at the water but Nina's nerves were put at ease by Alex's breathing becoming more relaxed his facial expression relaxing.
Jessy hopped into the room and Nina retracted the water ball getting a whine from Alex, "such a cruel mother you are" Jessy said with sarcasm so thick it could be cut with a knife. "Silence you just prepare the prescription" Nina said rubbing Alex's lower back with the arm that cradled the human "on it" Jessy said opening the paperbag she had carried taking out a small orange bottle measuring out a pair of pills, "just pretend these are sweeties for our little sweetie" Jessy said popping them in Alex's mouth.
Nina returned the ball of water for Alex to finish off watching him drink then looked up at Jessy "is dinner ready?" Nina asked and Jessy cocked her head, "didn't we have dinner already?" Jessy asked in return confused more than anything. "But he has not plus this medicine will sit better in a stomach that actually has something in it other than water" Nina said using her now free and empty hand to smooth Alex's stomach smiling as his hands edged up gently clasping her forearm, "well I am just the one that takes care of the orchards not a cook so how about we go have some sandwiches or something" Jessy said and with a sigh Nina stood up striding out of the room.
Alex let out a whine as he was carried "can I have bacon sandwich? I haven't had any in ages" Alex managed grown out as he was carried out of his new caretakers room, "sure you can sweetie" Jessy said leaning over Nina's front to try and pressed a finger to try and tickle Alex only to stop mid action as the boys fingers wrapped around her single massive finger.
"I know it's adorable" Nina said as they went down the stairs getting Jessy's paw away from Alex's stomach, "I am not adorable" Alex said flatly getting a giggle from the two women as they made a right going into the kitchen. Alex himself found the kitchen impressive in comparison to the setup he had back at the station in the forest, plain white marble counter tops with each appliance though modern appearing to be made from a black coloured metal yet the human did not notice what Jessy was carrying over from the attached storage room until Nina was holding him over it.
"OH FUCK NO!" Alex exclaimed trying to scramble over Nina's shoulder as the high backed high chair tugging tight onto the gardevoirs shirt in order to try and get away, suddenly he felt a smack on his rear that fortunately was cushioned by the diaper though he would never admit that verbally. Alex froze in confusion only reacting when they put him in the high chair, "DID YOU JUST SPANK ME!" Alex roared out as Jessy clunked a pan on the stove.
"Yes and I do not want to have to do it" Nina says leaning in to give Alex a kiss on the forehead but stopping when Alex leaned away, "what's wrong?" Nina said feeling the feelings of rage and betrayal on the edges of his mind. "We REALLY need to talk about the whole babying thing" Alex said pulling himself together enough to do this, "what is there to discuss? We want to take care of you" Nina said as Jessy peeks over her shoulder.
"So you can spank me?" Alex spat out with a level of venom in his voice recoiling slightly seeing that Nina felt some what injured at the accusation, "no never, you're our trainer we want to take care of you Alex" Nina says as Jessy turns around "yea after you left her in charge and we found out what would happen when you get caught we promised to get you first" Jessy says with a smile.
Alex sighed a tense sigh "fine I will let you take care of me but I have terms" Alex says as Jessy grabs some bacon filling the room with the smell of bacon and butter, "name them" Nina said quickly knowing what ever terms he set she could still care for the trainer that took care of her.
"1st rule I get to wash myself" Alex said counting the rule on a finger with Nina shaking her head "you can wash yourself but one of us has to be in the room unless you're comfortable taking baths in a sink since you're…. Too small literally to get a grip in the tub with your legs" Nina said plainly, "Fine," Alex says then raising a second and third finger "2nd I get to feed myself 3rd no baby food" Alex says being straight forward shivering at the idea of baby mush.
Jessy answered for Nina "consider it done!" the lopunny said excitedly "though be warned you will still need to be bottle fed a supplement, you're way too malnourished for my or your comfort" Nina said and Alex nodded his head in agreement not looking forward for what foul concoction may be in his future, "as long as that mush stays out of my mouth is all that matters" Alex said his face contorting into that of disgust "oh right you got sensory issues with that sort of stuff" Jessy says waving around the spatula for emphasis.
"finally 4th," Alex adds putting up a 4th finger "I get to go where ever I want and say what ever I want to say" Alex says folding hid arms, "you won' get spanked for cursing but if you to go somewhere too dangerous we are going to stop you" Nina said smiling noticing the grind creeping on the humans face "like old times then" Alex said as a sandwich with a sippy cup of apple juice was sat on the tray.
"you want one? I am making one for myself" Jessy said making herself a sandwich as the gardevoir nods. "I think after that I need one" Nina says sighing in relief.
