After a few bites, Illya returned to conversation.
"If I may ask, where did you pick up Russian?"
April paused briefly.
"Taiwan, I think, was where I first heard it. I picked up what Chinese I know from there as well. Daddy was assigned to the protection detail of the diplomatic corp."
Illya's interest was obviously increased.
"Chinese as well? Which dialect?"
"Mandaran, but I can understand Gan somewhat."
"Any other languages?"
"German, Italian, and French."
"Couramment?"
"Plus ou moins."
"You can practice Italian with Napoleon, but do not listen to his French. He will corrupt your lovely accent."
