Chapter 2 - Times Have Changed

"Welcome, students one and all, to a brand new year at SFIT," announced an almost excited Professor Granville. "I want to congratulate all returning students for making it through last year while welcoming all the fresh faces in the crowd."

As Professor Granville continued her welcome back speech. We see a boy genius in the back next to what seemed to be a giant talking marshmallow.

"This year is gonna be so lame," sighed Hiro to no one in particular. "Without the guys here, I have no one to talk to."

"According to recent studies, it is recommended that children your age expand their friend circle," Baymax states. "This so that they may expand their horizons and learn new things."

"I think I'll pass on that offer," Hiro scoffs. "And I'm not a child anymore."

As Granville finishes her speech, she states, "Also, I would like to speak with Hiro Hamada directly after the ceremony is over."

"How am I already in trouble; I just got here," Hiro exclaims.

Time-Skip

Hiro enters Granville's office and immediately notices a difference. The main thing was that she had much less tech in her office than the year before. In addition, a massive wall was filled to the brim with newspapers and police reports. It almost looked as if Granville was investigating something.

However, before Hiro could get a proper look, the board suddenly disappeared. Overlooking Hiro from her desk stood Granville with her usual 'I know what you did' look.

"Hello, Mr. Hamada," Granville says slowly. "Do you know why I have called you in here?"

"Whatever it is, I didn't do it," he states.

"Mr. Hamada, I haven't called you in here because you are in trouble," she corrects. "I've called you in here to ask for a favor."

"Okay, that's no problem at all," he agrees. "I thought you were about to bust me for when I hacked into...," he cuts himself off. "You know what, never mind, it's not important anyway."

"Mhmm, anyway, I would like you to show a 'new student' around the school," she stated. "This student just moved to San Fransokyo, and I want them to feel welcome."

"Professor, this isn't just a ploy to get me to make more friends, is it," Hiro said skeptically.

"Mr. Hamada, I would do no such thing," she fake gasped. "However, if you two somehow hit it off, they may turn out to be good friends."

"Professor, I'm not really looking to make more friends," he stated. "I have my friends and Baymax to keep me company."

"Mr. Hamada, I know you are anti-social and would rather stay in your circle," Granville sighed. "But I believe that everyone should try and discover new things." "Who knows, the two of you might even know each other," she says cryptically.

"Fine, I'll show this student the school," he sighed. "But I make no promises that we'll hit it off."

"That is all I ask of you," she smiled. "Now, they should be waiting for you in front of the school."

Hiro exits the room without another word but does turn back around to wave goodbye to her. While making his way to the front of the school, Hiro begins to ponder the conversation he had with Granville.

Who was this new student joining SFIT? Would they be a child genius like him or a student that acted like him? Better yet, what was Professor Granville researching, and why did she allow him to see the board.

Because Professor Granville never did anything by mistake. Did she want him to dig into the case himself? Or was that a warning to not stick his nose into her private business. Either way, it was giving him a headache just thinking about the whole thing.

However, at the moment, he would rather focus on meeting this new student.

Pushing open the doors that lead to the front of SFIT, Hiro was surprised and shocked at what he saw waiting on the steps for him.

"Wai... who... what... how," he stammered

"Nice to see you too... Genius Boy."

Authors Note: I can't believe it took me over a year to finish the 2nd chapter. Writer's block was a lot more serious than I thought. Alright, my reader did you like the 2nd chapter. Was it worth the wait? I'll try not to wait over a year for the next chapter. Until next time, Excelsior True Believers!
