Title: Another Chance at Love

Chapter 18

(It is morning with Patrick and Sabrina working the same shift. Both were beaming on their date last night. Sabrina tended to her patients while Patrick had a few surgeries scattered throughout the day. Sometimes, Sabrina moaned a bit at the endless mountain of paperwork that followed. Today, however? She was as cheerful as can be, so she didn't mind)

(After her latest patient, Sabrina went to the front desk to do her filing. With Elizabeth already there, Sabrina smirked as she couldn't wait to tell her best friend all about her date with Patrick. Sabrina couldn't stop humming as she was in a great mood)

Liz: (chuckles) "Someone's in a good mood."

Sabrina: "You don't know the half of it, girl."

Liz: "I take it you and the handsome doctor had an eventful night?"

Sabrina: (nods) "We did. Best first date ever and I can't wait until the next one."

Liz: "Which is when?"

Sabrina: "We haven't decided yet. I so can't wait, though."

Liz: (laughs) "I take it you really enjoyed yourself then."

(Sabrina faces her friend and giggles)

Sabrina: "Oh, my God, Elizabeth! It was the most perfect date ever!"

Liz: (smiles) "Well, don't stop there, girl! Tell me all about it!"

Sabrina: "Patrick felt bad for being late. I didn't mind because he apologized and I knew he'd come. He took me to the Metro Court. He teased me along the way that we'd be dancing, but I didn't mind at all. He could tell I was a little nervous on where to put my hands, so he helped. He brought my hands to around his neck. We swayed to the music."

Liz: "What was playing?"

Sabrina: "'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri." (sighs happily) "Oh, Elizabeth. It was so perfect. We stared into the other's eyes. I so badly wanted him to kiss me. He leaned forward and brushed his lips against my forehead."

Liz: (smiles) "I'll bet that felt good."

Sabrina: (nods) "It did. He told me a few times that I looked breathtaking, but I didn't grow tired of hearing it. He was so gentle and patient."

Liz: "What'd you eat?"

Sabrina: "He had a bacon cheeseburger and I had chicken alfredo. So good."

(Sabrina's eyes widened and her lips pressed together as her tongue went across her lips)

Sabrina: "Mmmm."

Liz: (laughs) "You're too funny. Yeah, Patrick invited me over for supper one time, me and Felix, and Emma just had a cheeseburger. Felix playfully grilled her on why she doesn't like bacon on it."

Sabrina: "That's what Patrick said, too. Emma doesn't care for bacon on her cheeseburger."

Liz: "Yeah, Emma isn't big on bacon. So, of course, Felix hungrily ate his bacon in front of her. Emma was like 'Ewww!'."

Sabrina: (chuckles) "Emma is so funny. After supper and some dancing, Patrick took me home." (tilts her head) "We stared into the others eyes. I could tell, I think, that Patrick wanted to kiss me as much as I wanted to kiss him. I feel that, maybe, he felt it was too soon because it was only our first date." (smiles) "That's why I can't wait until our second date so we can finally share our first kiss."

Liz: (nods) "Sounds like you're ready for it to happen, girl. I don't blame you."

(Sabrina faces forward and tilts her head as she speaks aloud)

Sabrina: "I honestly think I've dreamt of it since our first encounter. His kindness, the way he goes out of his way to help others…"

(Sabrina faces Elizabeth and smiles a bit)

Sabrina: "Any woman would be lucky to be with him. I'm honored to be that woman."

Liz: (nods) "He's definitely a keeper, that's for sure. I'm happy for you, girl."

Sabrina: "Thank you." (sighs happily) "I can't wait until our next date. I'm sure it'll be soon."

Liz: "He won't be able to resist you." (smiling)

(Both women laugh)

***Locker Room***

(Patrick is looking at a picture of Emma that's on the door part of his locker. He smiles when he tapes a picture of Sabrina on it, too. He nods a bit as he was happy. He officially had one picture of his girl. They may have only been on one date so far, but he considered Sabrina his girl. His thoughts are interrupted by a familiar voice)

Felix: "How'd the date go?"

(Patrick turns around a bit to face his friend)

Patrick: (smiles) "Perfect. Couldn't have gotten any better."

Felix: (smirks) "Did you seal the deal with a kiss?"

Patrick: (shakes his head) "No, I didn't."

Felix: (puzzled) "Why not? It's obvious the way you were looking at the picture of your girl just now, that you wanted to last night."

Patrick: (sighs) "I wanted to, yes. I'm sure she wanted to, as well. But, I'm not 100% sure. I didn't want to go too fast as it was only our first date."

Felix: (nods) "True. I see your point." (smiles) "Is there going to be another date?"

Patrick: (nods & smiles) "I'm hoping so. We slow danced, we enjoyed our meal, and I kissed her cheek at the end of the night. I think our song is officially 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri. It describes us perfectly."

Felix: (grins) "I think you have officially met your princess and I couldn't be happier for you."

(Felix slides his hands together and smiles in excitement)

Felix: "So, when is the next date?"

Patrick: "As a matter of fact, I'm going to go to Sabrina right now and see if she wants to have supper with me tonight. Emma is having a sleepover at a friend's house. If Sabrina says yes, maybe I'll bring it up tonight."

Felix: (laughs) "Don't let me stop you. You did good, Patrick."

(Patrick leaves the locker room and Epiphany goes in)

Epiphany: "So, how'd Drake Jr. say the date went?"

Felix: (nods & smiles happily) "He did good, Phiph."

Epiphany: (grunts) "It's about damn time. They've been lusting after each other long enough. About time they did something about it."

Felix: (nods) "It was definitely time."

***Front Desk***

(Sabrina is about to meet her next patient when Patrick stops her)

Sabrina: (giggles) "Hey, you."

Patrick: (chuckles) "Hey, yourself."

Sabrina: "So, did Felix grill you on our date last night? Elizabeth did with me."

Patrick: (laughs) "Yep, he did. That man does not skip a beat when it comes to us."

Sabrina: "No, he doesn't. Neither does Elizabeth or Epiphany, but I don't mind."

Patrick: "I was going to ask you. I'm making spaghetti tonight for supper. Emma is having a sleepover at a friend's house. Would you like to come over for spaghetti?"

Sabrina: (grins) "I would love to. Just let me know when to come."

Patrick: "Our shift ends at 6pm and I should have it done by 7:30pm. That too late?"

Sabrina: (shakes her head) "Nope, that's perfect."

Patrick: (nods) "See you then."

Sabrina: "Sounds good."

(They share a smile at each other before going back on their rounds)
