Shiryu is dismissed from the Debate Club due to his long hair being a distraction, so he is brought to the Student Council. But the slots are full, so they ask for the director's permission. Meanwhile, they ask Mei from 1A to give him a makeover after the meeting. She ties his hair to a braid and gives him fake eyeglasses. Once he returns to the dorm, his friends cannot recognize his new look, so Shiryu explains how it happened.

The weather for today is sunny.

This week concludes the April chapter.

[April 24, Tuesday - week 4]

Shiryu has been attending the Debate Club meetings for the past five days. The meetings consist of debating whatever topics members come up with. But one of them calls him to deliver the bad news.

"It pains to say this, but you can't be here anymore."

"But why?" asks a shocked Shiryu.

"You're too damn smart for us. Your hair is a distraction too."

"Please let me stay! I need to join a club." Shiryu fidgets anxiously.

"How about joining the Student Council?" another member asks.

"Is that even possible? The elections are already over."

"Yeah, but he can't stay here."

"Try anyway. I don't guarantee anything, though."

"Do you know where the Student Council is?"

"I don't," Shiryu says with lowered eyes.

"Follow me. I'll take you."

The Debate Club is located on the Practice Building's first floor. The female club member escorts him to the main building, where the Student Council office is on the second floor.

"This is the Student Council. Good luck in there.

The female member leaves, and Shiryu enters the Student Council office. He sees four students whose tables are arranged like a political assembly. The room itself is set that way too.

"Can we help you?" the staff asks.

"I'm here to join the Student Council," Shiryu says.

"The elections are over. Try again next year."

"Wait a sec! You're the student from the rumors," another staff says.

"You mean the gym incident?" Shiryu asks.

"That and the Galaxian Wars thing."

"True! I'm from class 1C."

"So you ask to join the Student Council?" another staff speaks. "Typically, we wouldn't take any more signups since the elections are over. But I think we can make an exception for you."

"Are you sure about this? He and his friends are the reason why teachers quit."

"By having him here, we can keep an eye on him and his friends." The staff member stands. "We must end this meeting early so I can consult with the director. Mei-san, I'll leave him in your care."

"If he's going to be here, we must do something about his hair. But we'll leave that to Mei."

"You're Shiryu-kun, yes? Come back tomorrow. I'll tell you."

Council members exit leaving Shiryu and Mei all by themselves. Mei, the fair raven-haired girl with soft curls and black eyeglasses. She also wears a daisy hairclip.

"I'm Mei Tachibana from class 1A. Nice to meet you." Mei salutes with a bow.

"Nice to meet you." Shiryu does the same. "I'm Shiryu from class 1C."

"Do you have any questions?" Mei asks.

"What does the Student Council do? Sounds important."

"It's nothing like that. We're advocates for students."

"Uh, so it's impressive in name only."

"You could say that." Mei chuckles. "The Student Council is just us five: Himeko, the president; Ryoma, the sports captain vice president; Rango, the treasurer; Iori, the enforcer; and me as the secretary. The president and VP are third-year students, while the treasurer and enforcer are second years."

Mei grabs a chair and arranges the seat for him.

"Shiryu-kun, take a seat. We must do something about your hair."

"I don't want to cut it!" Shiryu fidgets again."

"No worries! We're not going that extreme."

Mei pulls out a hairbrush from a drawer and starts brushing.

"Your hands are shivering."

"You have smoother hair, Shiryu-kun." Mei blushes. "Don't take it the wrong way! I admire it, that's all." Mei takes a deep breath. "Let's see, a ponytail would be too bland… Aha!"

Mei braids his hair and ties the ends together. She hands him a mirror.

"You made a braid," Shiryu says, looking at his reflection.

"It suits you better! But something's amiss."

"Why is that?"

"I feel one last thing is needed for your look."

He sees Mei rushing to the drawer again, pulling out a pair of red eyeglasses. She places them on Shiryu, who looks in the mirror again and is quite pleased.

"What are these?" he asks, amazed at his new look.

"These fake glasses belonged to the Theater Club. They look good on you. I hope everyone likes it."

"Thank you for the arrangement. See you tomorrow."

Shiryu stands to pick up his bag.

"Not a problem. See you tomorrow too."

With that said, they leave the office.

"I suppose I can get used to this new look for now…"

Shiryu arrives at the dorm and closes the door.

"I'm back!"

"Hey, Shiryu! Welcome..." Seiya's tone changes. "Who the heck are you? You can't be here, kid!"

Hyoga and Shun, who are also in the lounge, are on high alert too.

"We're so going to get into trouble..."

"You gotta leave now!" Seiya leaps and then opens the door to shove Shiryu out.

"Wait a second!" Shiryu pleads but then pivots. "Please listen to me!"

The BBs recompose and gather on the couch to listen.

"Is this for real? You joined the Student Council?" Hyoga asks.

"Not officially. I have to wait until tomorrow."

"Sorry for shoving. I didn't recognize you," Seiya says.

"And neither did we," Shun says, looking at Hyoga.

"I recognize you more when you take off your cloth." Seiya laughs.

"Oh, dear…" Shiryu shudders.

"For real, we do," Hyoga adds with a chuckle.

"I have to agree too." Shun can't help but chuckles too.

The BBs laugh for a bit, then calm down.

"That's some good makeover you got," Hyoga says.

"Yeah! You look like a real student. It's the perfect disguise!" Seiya grins. "Just let the braids down after graduation. There's no way you're going into battle wearing that." He shudders.

"You don't have to tell me that. I already know," Shiryu says with a sweat.

"No enemy will ever take you seriously if you keep those braids."

"Damn straight!" Seiya says with arms folded.

After that, it's dinner and homework as usual.

To be continued...

There's a person called Mei in one of the Saint Seiya novels. But the one in the novels is a guy. This one is an unrelated OC.
