As they ate their food Artemis kept looking at the two pictures, and kept wondering what this Naruto was like, Sasuke the way he looked made her think he was constantly sucking on something sour. Ayame was going around from the kitchen to each of the tables, and everyone seemed to really love this strange noodle dish they called Ramen.
If only the meal had more meat she wouldn't even think about complaining, but it was mostly noodles, vegetables, and very few pieces of meat at all, there were plates that she could see that had no meat in them at all, as the Goddess of the Hunt, she knew the effects of lack of protein would cause on people, she often made sure that her huntresses had a decent well-balanced diet.
The youngest of her huntresses would long ago make fun of her and call her a mother hen, taking care of her chicks, which back then she thought it was rather cruel to say to a woman who only had one lover, but never a husband. This Naruto guy they were sent, their supposed long lost relative however was giving her these vibes that he might be a danger to her girls, better keep his filthy hands off them or the idiot will lose them.
That is when she felt someone flick her on her forehead, "It was bad enough that you keep ignoring me while glaring at our missing siblings, but you look like you want to murder at least one of them, we are here to find them and bring them back home to their mothers, or do I need to remind you over and over again using telepathy."
Artemis looked around her and realized Athena had frozen time for this conversation, "To me, there is no proof at all that these two are relatives of ours, if they had been relatives they should have returned to the divine realm alongside their parents when they left this realm. No parent who cares about their child would abandon them like that. And for the last time, no, I don't need another voice in my head, my conscience is more than enough to give me headaches."
As they finished their conversation, something that they didn't expect at all happened, a blonde young man with whisker marks on his face came with his black-haired friend, and asked Ayame if there was any available tables or seat for them, Ayame told him that sadly there were no available seats since this was practically one of their busiest time of the day.
Sasuke looked at the two strangers eating their food at a distant table and then he looked at Naruto and with nonverbal communication told him that those two seem familiar somehow when Naruto turned in the direction that Sasuke mentioned, he immediately went pale, and mutter something to his friend they need to get the fuck out of there, and that better be now, that is Artemis and Athena, one was a rumored man-hater and the other was a war goddess, Sasuke had to agree that if they saw them here it would cause a major incident so they better lead those two away from anywhere where innocent people might get caught in the crossfire should a fight happen.
The second the two friends thanked Ayame, they took off like they were trying to get away from someone or something terrifying. These two are respected war heroes, what could cause them both to run away like that? Ayame thought as the two ladies who she served their food came over and paid for the food and left almost like they were chasing someone.
"Damn it, had you not done that I wouldn't have been distracted and we could have caught those two and be back home before any of these people knew about it," Athena told her she can complain all she wants as soon as they caught up with the two guys who they were looking for, she still wants to discuss thing with them rather than attacking them, but things will happen the way they do, but the only thing that worried her was that comment from that one guy, these two are supposedly tough enough to kill a goddess, they had better be careful and not lower their guard.
They finally reached their old team training grounds, there was nobody else so no innocent bystanders would be harmed, "So Teme what the hell do you think those two want with us? Either they or their siblings have come to see us ever in our entire life, honestly, I didn't think they would have enough free time to pull this C-Rank crap on us."
Sasuke was more busy laying traps and tags on the area around them, "No freaking clue Dobe, maybe your dad and mine finally had enough and sent those two to drag us back to our parents kicking and screaming, all I know is that I never figured they would want to see me again while I am still alive, ever since the massacre I pretty much figured that the only way for me to ever see my parents again was to kick the bucket since mine didn't like a copy of themselves within the seal that kept the nine tails fox inside you. All I know is that one of them clearly looks like she wants to dance and not in the fun and sociable sort of a way."
As Sasuke finished saying this the two women that had been after them finally caught up to them, at least Sasuke knew this thanks to the explosive tag that went off when they landed near the entrance to the training area. That is when he heard one of them complain that they didn't expect either of them to have enough time to plant traps. He almost was laughing when he thought how little did these two know how ninjas operate.
"So mind telling me what is the deal with all those traps we had to go through, it's not nice having to repair your clothes because something exploded and burn them you know, that is no way to treat a lady." Hearing Athena Naruto simply tell her that this is a training ground, they probably thought that while they heard them do what they were doing, this was just a basic brawl, no this was training to see how well they have gotten used to their new prosthetic arms.
Sasuke was more direct and told them, "Listen, we both know exactly who you two are, Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and battle strategy and of course, the Goddess is known to hate men, Artemis the Goddess of the Hunt. We also happen to know you have been asking people in the village about us, why don't we show you more reverence and act like all your worshippers? Simple, your pantheon has no believers here, we only worship one deity and that is the Sage of the six paths. So out with it, what do you two want? Because you two must want something going around doing recon like a fresh academy-graduated Genin."
Athena told them they came to bring them back to Mt. Olympus, their mothers miss them terribly, to which Sasuke told her to stop trying to use sentiments to influence them, they had to live practically alone for a little over a decade, "If my mother or Naruto's mother wanted us to go where they are, there is no force in the universe that would have stopped them and we would be there already, so might as well drop the act. I am not the only child that a Greek Deity has abandoned to their own fate, throwing a child to a pack of lions to see if the child survives would have been more merciful than what some of them had to suffer."
Artemis quickly took out her bow and tried to shoot at him only to have someone cut her arrows cleanly in half, "Thanks Naruto, to someone who can fight Lee, those arrows must be so slow they must seem like they are crawling through the air." Naruto told him that it was nothing that special, he was always willing to help his dear brother Indra, and Sasuke began to shake his head hearing that name, telling him that they are not supposed to use those names calling him Ashura.
"I guess that would be a bit confusing for them, our first lives here were as Indra and Ashura Otsutsuki, we were the sons of the sage, the only deity that is worshipped here, later, much later, we were reborn as Naruto and Sasuke, so you see we are not lying when we say that we call the sage Hagoromo Otsutsuki our father, as much as I would love to spar against her, mind answering a few things for me?"
Artemis told Naruto that indeed they would answer all their questions if it helps them understand why they are there? "What kind of a fool sends a team with only two people, it should be at the very least a three, you could have brought say Aphrodite, and have her use charm to make our capture that much easier." Artemis had to admit that is true, no man alive can resist the charms of the Goddess of Beauty, it would basically make them do whatever the hell she wants, they could have been back home in a matter of seconds and both of them would follow her around like a pair of lost puppies.
Athena told Artemis that they asked to do that, except for Zeus and his wife who forbade any other person other than them to even attempt to go after Naruto and Sasuke, this caused Naruto to start laughing, "So he is not a complete and utter moron, good, he at least know that would have placed all three of you in danger, and even if she tried to charm us, it would be futile, we are immune to any charm." Artemis was angry at what he said and demanded to show proof of that, even other gods are not immune to her charm, why are they any different.
Sasuke looked at her and took a deep breath to calm himself, "Why are we immune, simple, charm is something that affects a person through their perception, or their sight, we are immune because we got tail beasts inside of us, I got my ten tails, and Naruto has his nine tails, if we are charmed they can snap us out of it, so that wouldn't work. What is even worse is we were once Otsutsuki family members, so that means we have more powers than either of you, especially after what happened when two versions of ourselves merged. Am I arrogant? well, what do you expect from a son of Zeus?
That is when they were shocked to know that both Naruto and Sasuke knew who their fathers were supposed to be, and who they were for both the older version and the younger version that merged. "All this is making my head spin, you got memories from an older version of yourself, and you also have knowledge from a younger version than that one, but you two are still just Naruto and Sasuke, one personality, not something that is a mixture of all these parts, the old, the young, and the merged."
Sasuke told her that multiverse theory is a bitch, just is a matter of either waiting for their mind to change into something new, or simply accepting they got memories and skills from older versions of themselves, and simply accept it, thanks to those memories they have knowledge of what will happen and when, and thus they are capable of preventing a ton of tragedies, which is what keeps them so busy, that is exactly what they have been doing.
As for them knowing where Mt. Olympus is, they got no frigging clue where that place is, depending on the universe it is either in space or in Greece or flying high over a massive building in the coastal city of a state called New York, and what is worse it was clear that if their parents really wanted them back, they could have sent them sooner, but the fact remains is that they didn't, so why would they want to see them ever again?
Athena told him again, they thought that both of them were dead, and tried to summon their souls so they can ascend into godhood, but that took time and when the summoning failed they tried to figure out what the hell went wrong or why it fails in the first place, Naruto looked at her and decided to say something, "And I am guessing it took dear old dad a wapping five seconds to accuse our uncle Hades that it failed due to his plot to eliminate his heir so that uncle Hades can take over the throne of Olympus."
Artemis was actually laughing really hard when she heard Naruto actually say, "No he didn't jump at the chance to accuse his own brother of plotting a coup to take over his throne, they actually tried to figure things out, after a quick question to the three sisters of fate, they sent us to check what the fates told them." Sasuke looked at Athena and told her to tell someone who cares, why should he care at all, and simply decide to stay where he is, and do what he could for his village, maybe even restore his clan?
"Your mother misses you terribly, she is barely sleeping, and your father has to motivate her to eat by telling her it was so that she could one day see you again, would you truly subject your mother to such pain, to continue a life of loneliness, depression, as she slowly loses the will to even live?" Sasuke told her that she can take all that misery, all that pain, all that loneliness, multiply it by a hundred, and stretch it so a day lasts ten years, and that was his childhood, consumed by bitterness and hatred, so don't try to manipulate him with that, cause he knows that sort of misery all too well, after all, he grew up feeling only that by himself.
Athena was not expecting that at all, "If you think my life was bad, let me tell you of my friend Naruto here, the day he was born is the day a nine tails mountain sized fox made of pure energy attacked the village, and cause the death of hundreds of people, destroyed homes and businesses, they can't kill it so what did they do? They stuffed it inside a newborn, place a seal to trap it in, they turned a baby boy into a bottle, and the seal with the cap that keeps the dam thing closed. But all those people that lost friends, family, possessions, homes, and businesses, needed someone to blame for this happening to them, and the one they picked was Naruto because he was the one that got that fox stuffed inside him before he knew how to say his first word."
"If you think having the power of a massive energy beast would make him too strong and nobody would mess with him, well you simply don't know how stupid the people were in the village back then, some tried to beat him up, kill him to avenge the death of friends, family or loved ones, most of the village didn't, but they sure as hell didn't do anything to help, except for four people, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, the people of Ichiraku, Teuchi, and Ayame, and years later his academy theories teacher Iruka. If someone told you we lived peacefully and saved lives, sorry to tell you but someone lied to you."
They both came to realize that Naruto and Sasuke didn't grow up in the way they had imagined at all, they had harsh lives and it was amazing that Naruto was so respected while Sasuke was so trusted by the very people that once thought the worse of them. "Growing up in such a horrible way I would think you would jump at the chance to live in a better place, so why do I get the feeling that you don't even want to leave here?"
Sasuke heard Athena and knew what she was trying to do, as he heard that he came up with something that will be easier for either of them to understand, he couldn't word it too difficult for the sake of Artemis who was much more of a straight thinker and couldn't exactly make it that simple because it would be seen as an insult on Athena's intelligence. Sadly the only response he came up with was a little blunt, "You might think that, but both Naruto and I have a duty that must be achieved, and it can not be achieved outside of our village, that is to restore our clans. We must work hard to bring back our clans from such a low population, and since we are part of noble clans we were inducted into C.O.R.A, Clan Onmiya Restoration Act. We currently have several young ladies that wish to pursue a possible marriage with each of us, but as such we must first and foremost win their hearts and establish those marriages before we can start the process of adding new clan members."
Artemis was muttering something along the lines of that it made perfect sense since they both technically were the children of Zeus, that they would be as horrible womanizers as their supposed father, Sasuke was quick to mention that the formation of a harem in this manner it is not only legal but required, the plan they are a member of requires them to marry multiple women, to ensure the rapid birthrate needed to restore a clan which has an extremely low population.
Naruto also mentioned that the clans they need to restore are also founding clans, such as the Uzumaki which are a branch clan of the Senju, and the Uchiha Clan, which means even if they are against the idea of marrying multiple women, they are legally obligated to do so. "Hence why we can't leave the village, I just finish telling you, what kind of a father abandons his family? These two families are barely getting started and you want us to abandon them? How immoral and unethical can a person be?"
That is when both of them asked the exact details of what he just said, Sasuke was about to explain but as soon as he was going to do that he heard a very familiar voice, "You wish for an explanation how could these two end up having to form a harem, I shall explain, it has been a month since these two returned to the village, alongside someone we never ever expected, but after a month, the previous Hokage decided that she wanted to focus more on her daughters and her medical career, so she decided to step down and pass on the title of Hokage to me. My name is Kakashi Hakate, and I am the current Hokage."
He jumped down from the higher tree branch and landed between them, "The fact is the restoration act was formed to increase the population of a clan who due to war or tragedy had suffered a catastrophic number of deaths, these clans are the main military force of our nation, so the law was established for national security. Naruto is the future patriarch of the Uzumaki Clan and Sasuke future patriarch of the Uchiha Clan, and thus their enrollment and induction into the plan were mandatory. They must marry multiple ladies who are capable of conception and birth of new clan members to replace all the members that have died. So ladies, Naruto is correct, they both have this obligation to the village, the nation, and their clans."
Athena looked at the man and began to understand why this was so important, she wasn't called the goddess of battle strategy for nothing after all, "That is understandable, however, we must get these two to return to our realm, only there can we do the necessary tests and treatment for them, they possess the bloodline of over four deities, it is a miracle that they are as healthy as they are, both I and Artemis are goddesses, our blood is different from mere mortals, and from having so many bloodlines in them, their blood will change it is just a matter of time, and without our aid, their deaths shall be painful."
Kakashi understood what she was saying but didn't like it, he had to make sure that these two remain and restored their clans, or when other members of Kaguya's family show up they will be defenseless. He could still remember the things both his former students told him, the danger of the Otsutsuki Clan and how they went from world to world to harvest them to obtain godhood.
Athena seeing that he didn't object or become angry upon hearing this decided to continue, "And then there is the problem with our family since both of them are our relatives, they are the children of the Lord of the Sky, King of the Gods, and the Lord of the sea, but the most important matter is their mothers, they are in a deep depression, it has taken every effort to keep them alive, they have lost all hope after hearing their children would die fighting each other in a prophecy, but as it turns out, the prophecy was wrong, and thus to save their mothers we have come to invite them to return to our realm. Their mothers lived with the pain of thinking their sons would die, would you keep them suffering till they no longer wish to live, if only to get to see their sons once again?"
As they said this Kakashi remembers how his own father had taken his own life, having lost his second family when the Kyuubi attacked, remembering the pain of losing his father, and later the man who adopted him and the woman who would have been his adoptive mother, he understood why these two were so serious about trying to get both Naruto and Sasuke to go with them. "I see, I think I understand what is going on, but sadly like I said we can't have either Naruto or Sasuke leave the village, it is sad, but there is an alternative, we can allow them to visit where their mothers are, and knowing Naruto once the seal is set in place, he will be able to travel back and forth from the place with great ease, Sasuke will merely tag along, thus their mothers can see that their sons are alive, and they can receive these medical exams and treatment we know little to nothing about, but again they can't stay there permanently, their duty to our nation and their clan is vital for the safety of not just our nation but the world."
Athena asked what exactly does he mean by that, Kakashi decided to tell her the truth, even if it seems unbelievable to other people, "These two managed to defeat Kaguya, the Rabbit Goddess, but these two suffered injuries doing so, she one of the weakest of her clan, all her other clan members still are alive, in the end, it was thanks to Sakura that she was killed according to what Naruto told me, but those other members of her clan are still headed here, they are a great threat to our world."
As Athena heard of the future threat to their world, she understood why this man was so much against the very idea of him leaving their nation permanently, so she told him that she could arrange for Naruto and Sasuke so they can return to Mt, Olympus and be able to return to this village, but she also told him that if the danger was this great, training with her family, and obtaining gear and weapons from their family might be a good idea since their weapons would be better against another person who is a god than anything mortals can forge.
Kakashi asked her who in the world would forge these weapons and since Kakashi was honest with her, Athena told him, that the weapons and gear would be made using divine bronze, and the person who would make it is the god of the forge, Hephaestus.
