Hey guys, i wanted to use this space to write down some stuff that I wanted to talk out of my chest and since this is my fanfic and I posted already a big chapter before nobody will complain. I just wanted to ask you all: Did My Hero lost its flame?
I mean, it's very popular in America but in Japan I see that it's not much the big stuff that it was. I mean it's still in top 3 of sales for Shonen, but comparing to One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen they have much to deal. I am saying that because not just I am not that much interested in the latest arc, but I noticed something: How the anime is compared to others. The My Hero anime in arguably their biggest arc has the animation of a weekly anime, compared to Demon Slayer new season, One Piece regular batch recently and the new Jujutsu Kaisen its clear that investors aren't paying much more attention for My Hero.
Like here is something I want to point out, in the full of class 1-A outside of the main bunch, what do we know about them?! Like what are their backstory and why some of them want to be heroes. Ok, some we have an idea but care to explain why Satou, Jirou, Sero and Tsuyu decided to become heroes. I don't care if they are fan favorites because of their design, I want some characterization. I know what you will say ´´Well Oda introduced a bunch of people in Wano and they didn't have any characterization´´, they were supporting characters in a arc once it was over we won't see them again for a while or ever, Horikoshi established those 20 as the MAIN Characters, say what you will about Naruto´s teams but we ended up learning a lot about 12 ninja and yet I don't know much about most of 1-A.
Yes, I am bitching at the moment.
I bring this up because I think My Hero is this generation Naruto, I mean Naruto was all over the map, but while it had a long time to stretch things up, My Hero keep shooting themselves in the foot. Look I hate bashing it, but the errors of My Hero still keep happening even after 9 years. Horikoshi kept showing some random characters that appeared, like the two regular course students that mock Bakugo for the Cultural Festival and the little kids that him and Todoroki had to entertain for their remedial course arc, like he remembers characters, but he doesn't establish this world.
This realization happened to me when I started reading a lot of My Hero fanfics back in 2018, specially Apothesis or Good and Evil. Those show to me how really messed up and non sensical the My Hero world is established and how things make no sense, not just Bakugo being accepted in a hero school even thought he made suicidal comments and was a huge bully, but how All Might never seen to be wrong once, villains are evil because they are, etc.
Also the fandom kind drives me crazy. My Hero has been cited to have the worst fandom among shones, One Piece fandom is kind mild because it's so long but they tend to have some respect. You just go around in the Fanfic website, and you see what they do with Izuku, either he is an overpowered bore or something else. Its like those 10 billion ways to write Naruto in the stories.
Like we all know what will happen in Luffy vs All Might, we all do, but I can't helped that someone will be in the comments like ´´If it was Izuku with all powers of One For All he could beat Luffy´´, that's this crap. Its like Light Novel Issei and Ainz from Overlord who their fandom says have powers equal to gods and they can beat people like Luffy, Satorou Gojo, Eren, Sage Mode Naruto and God Mode Goku. Fandom are weird, especially if they have accounts on reddit and Quora, just don't go crazy among those website everybody.
Like, I like Luffy but I wont say he is perfect. In fact that are moments he drives me nuts, but I know when Oda will write him in the right moment. There are times that Luffy display genuinely concern and seriousness instead of ´´I don't care for this stuff, where is the meat!´´ or ´´Boring, just show me the guy that I have to fight´´. He has layers in his character that only Oda knows how to write, because he is the creator.
Also, I wanted to say what I think of the last two recent My Hero chapters, in which it was trying to patch things up with Dabi and I don't think this will happen, at his state he is going to die. There is no bullshit quirk in their world that was established that can heal him, his death would actually impact the story and move things forwards. Yes, he is a psycho, but he had break downs and again this world seem to not believe in psychology to help people. Ok, I don't see Todoroki family dying but I see Dabi dying in the end, there might be a way to heal the others, but he is way above for salvation.
Sorry if this seemed unnecessary, I wanted to tell my view on certain things about both franchises. Like in One Piece we been having hit after hit with lore and world expanding chapters and My Hero sometimes there is a good moment there, but I stopped carrying at this point. I am just like ´´when are you done´´, hey sorry if you like My Hero more but this my opinion. If this war put you in the verge of your seat, then good for you than lets see what happen next.
