Hello and welcome back to another chapter! I hope you enjoy it!
I don't own RWBY or any other franchise that might spring up in this fic, please support their official releases.
Yang's POV
To say I was having a weird day was a vast understatement. It was more accurate to say that this has been the weirdest day of my life, what with this whole game like system we were given. This whole entire day has felt like a fever dream that I just couldn't wake up from.
Before I could think on it any further, the robotic voice spoke once more, "As I'm sure you've noticed, in front of you are the tavern doors. While it may look like it leads to nothing, it is actually quite the opposite. Please walk up to the doors for further explanation." The voice finished speaking.
We all looked at one another, and with nothing else better to do, we shrugged our shoulders and made our way to the door. It wasn't like this day could get any weirder, right?
Once we were about five feet from the door, another box appeared in front of us, "Hello, and welcome to the gateway, where would you like to go?" The box read, and below it, had a few options for us to choose.
Dungeon
Erotic Dungeon
Challenge Dungeon
Leave Hub/Return to world
Again, a blush appeared on my face at the mention of the second option, though I shouldn't be that surprised, the voice did say that we had an Erotic Game System.
Speaking of the voice, "As you can see, you have three choices to choose from. From here, I will tell you what each one does, the rewards they give, and the general difficulty of each one." I mentally sigh and prepare myself for the insanity that I was sure to ensue.
"If you select the Dungeon option, you will be taken to another hub of sorts where you can select a Dungeon to take on. These can range from goblins, all the way to demons, though you'll have to unlock some of them by 'playing the game'. The rewards, while they can be great, generally give the least amount, though they can also give the most, but the chance of that is few and far between. So keep that in mind when selecting a place to go."
That was good information to know, though I was bummed and a little worried about the implications of it giving the least amount as rewards. Unfortunately, I was right to worry.
"The next is the Erotic Dungeon, where if you select it, you will also be taken to another hub to choose what you want to do. The quests that you can get from these can range from simple kissing, to full blown sex. It is completely up to you, though the more erotic the actions the higher the reward. Further note, this Dungeon is required to do after every fifth Dungeon you pick. So if you planned on skipping out on this one by just only doing the others, then I'm afraid you thought wrong."
While the part about having to do the Dungeon sucked, it was something that I should have guessed, what with the name of the system. From beside me, I could tell the others were having similar reactions.
"The Challenge Dungeon is like the regular Dungeon, though it usually gives better rewards. But because of that, the challenges are harder. This can range from being nerfed, to having entire skills temporarily removed for the challenge. Though, in the extreme case, the rewards are far greater, and can even surpass the Erotic Dungeon in rewards. Note: You can unlock more Challenge Dungeons by completing regular Dungeons."
Though it did suck that we would be weakened when doing these Dungeons, the payoff of better rewards was a nice consolation prize. Though something tells me that the voice wasn't telling the whole truth.
"Finally, we have the Leave Hub/Return to world option. This one is just as it sounds, when you all want to leave, just select this option and you'll return where you were standing before you left. If one of you wishes to leave before the others, you can do so. Note: Seeing as this is the first time you all are here and you selected yes for the tutorial option, you are forbidden from leaving the Hub until you completed one of each Dungeon."
That last part made my heart skip a beat. I tried selecting the option to leave, but I was unable to do so, only receiving a notice that I had to complete one of each Dungeon before I could leave.
"Damn, it wasn't lying." Weiss muttered out from beside me in a bitter tone of voice. She wasn't happy whatsoever with that.
"Language, Weiss." Ruby unconsciously said, staring straight ahead into the dark void. Weiss for her part didn't say anything, though she did roll her eyes.
"So," Ruby started, turning to the three of us with a sigh, "Which one do you all want to do first." She asked in a tired tone of voice. I couldn't blame her, I was honestly tired myself.
"I say I speak for us all when I say we leave the Erotic one for last." Blake said, a blush appearing on her face as she spoke. We all nodded along with her in agreement.
I sigh, and then speak, "Let's get this done with, I say we do the Dungeon first. From what it said, it should be the easiest." They nodded at that, and with that in mind, I selected the 'Dungeon' option.
"1/4 Players readied up for 'Dungeon', awaiting other players to ready up."
So, it seems that we all have to agree to go to the Dungeon, but to leave the world? I wonder why it was like that?
Soon after, the ready players reached 4/4.
"Initializing transport, good luck players!" A box appeared in front of us, and my world went black for only a moment.
Once my vision returned, I looked around and thankfully they were still next to me. At least we weren't separated.
In front of us stood three portals, all colored blue, but they had different names above them.
From left to right, they were Goblin Dungeon I, Skeleton Dungeon I, and Grimm Dungeon I.
So the Dungeons have a tier system, if I had to guess, every time we beat one, the tier would go up and it would be harder to compete.
We looked at one another, and Weiss spoke, "I think we should do Grimm, as they are the ones we're most familiar with." Her logic was sound and we agreed with her. Better yet, it would be a nice opportunity to test out Ruby's new skill.
We walked up to it, and just like the tavern doors, we were met with a message "Would you like to enter (Grimm Dungeon I) Y/N?"
I selected 'Y', and was met with another notification, "Transporting your weapons due to not having them on hand. Good luck players!" I was willing to admit that I completely forgot all about our weapons. Thankfully, the system was nice enough to transport them to us or else this could've ended horribly.
Darkness covers my vision once more, and I felt the weight of my gauntlets materializing on my hands. It was a strange sensation, but I am at least armed now.
My vision comes back once more, with us this time being in the middle of a forest of some kind. We looked around us, trying to find any sign of the Grimm that we would have to face, though there was no sign of them.
Just as I was about to speak, another box appeared in my mind.
"Quest given: Grimm Slayers.
Objective: The forest is populated by the creatures of Grimm, it is your job to eradicate them.
Enemies: 40
Rewards:?
Well, that answered all my questions. Just as I was about to speak, a howl not too far from us prevented me from doing so.
Out of the woods came two groups of five Grimm, all of the Beowulfs. Weak ones at that. They all barely had any kind of armor to speak of, having just enough to cover their faces. They charged straight at us, intent on ripping us limb from limb, though we weren't going to let that happen.
We all started to open fire on the fast approaching Grimm, a cacophony of bullets slamming into them at supersonic speeds. To call it a fight was too generous, it was a complete one sided slaughter. They didn't even get into melee range.
"Congratulations! You leveled up! (2/100)"
"Wait, we were never informed we could level up! Why weren't we told that!"
I never got to voice my confusion as more howls tore through the air, and along with it, came the rest of the Grimm, again, all very young Beowulfs. Putting the thought to the back of mind, I focused back on the here and now and prepared for the oncoming Grimm.
Again, we unleashed a hail storm of bullets on them. For every yard that they came closer, one of them would be systematically cut down.
Just like before, they didn't even get into close quarters combat with us, with them all dying before they even crossed half the halfway point between them and us.
"Congratulations! You leveled up! (4/100)" The box appeared in front of me again, and once again, I was left bewildered as to what just happened. It all went by so fast.
"Congratulations! You completed (Grimm Dungeon I)! Please follow the arrow to confront the bosses of the Dungeon and get your rewards!"
"Ok, time out!" Weiss nearly shouted, an obvious tone of anger coming over her voice, "What the hell just happened! Why weren't we given some time to think of what to do!? Better yet, what does it mean that we leveled up!?" She shouted her indignation and frustration into the air. Just as she was about to speak again, the voice spoke again, "To answer all questions in order, you were attacked by Grimm, the Grimm sensed your negative emotions and bolted their way over towards you, and for your last question, it isn't something I've told you yet." It spoke in its normal monotonic and cold voice.
"And why didn't you!?" Weiss shouted again.
"Because you didn't ask about it, and I was going to tell you all after you completed the Dungeon. It was deemed not important enough that I could put it off until your first Dungeon dive. After all, I can't tell you everything, where's the fun in that?" It answered Weiss in an almost joking tone of voice.
Weiss was visibly exasperated at what she was hearing, her mouth opening and closing like a fish at what she was hearing. Just as she was about to explode again, Ruby spoke up, "Hold on Weiss, just wait until after we're done and we get out of here, that way we don't spend more time than necessary in here then we need to." She said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Weiss simmered down and shook her head in aframation, a concentrated look crossing her face.
She then turned towards all of us and addressed us, "We can discuss this until after we're done here. For now, let's just get this over with." Ruby said with conviction clear in her voice. We all nodded at that, wanting nothing more than to just get this all over with.
We turned towards the arrow and followed the path. It was about five minutes later when we came upon a clearing, and just like the voice said, there were the bosses.
"Dungeon bosses encountered. Good luck players!" Another box appeared in front of my view, and I quickly dismissed it.
The bosses, two young looking Ursa, turned their heads our way and let out a roar when they saw us.
They were getting ready to charge us, intent on killing us.
"Say, Ruby," I spoke up, an idea forming in my mind. Ruby turned my way with her weapon locked and loaded, the muzzle pointed right at them. "What is the damage you would usually do against Ursa of that age?" She had a confused look on her face but she answered nonetheless, "I can usually one shot them at this age. Why do you ask?"
A smile made its way over my face as I spoke, "Want to see if that skill of yours holds any merit?" I said gesturing towards her weapon and then the Ursa.
She still had a confused look on her face, but she nodded and readjusted her aim. Weiss and Blake also gave me confused looks, but they lowered their weapons, also curious as to see what Ruby can now do.
She squeezes the trigger, and a shot is fired right at one of the Ursa. It rings true and hits the one on the right directly in the face.
Now, usually, that wouldn't be special, but something different happened this time. What would usually be just blowing a hole through the thing's head turned into something completely different. The shot completely evaporated the head and most of the neck of the once proud Grimm. Like a puppet with its strings cut, it fell straight to the ground with its body already starting to dissipate.
We were left in stunned silence for a moment, with the only thing breaking us out of our stupor being the roar of the now lonely Ursa.
Ruby switched targets automatically and fired another shot, and just like before, the head and neck were completely blown off, like they weren't even there.
"Congratulations! You beat (Grimm Dungeon I)! Now giving rewards.
Congratulations! You got skill (Grimm Slayer 1/10) for completing the quest: Grimm Slayers!
Now teleporting back to Hub to give out the rest of the rewards.
We didn't even get time to process what the hell was happening, as our vision went dark once more. When we came to, we were seated back at the same table we were when we woke up here.
Calculating rewards, please wait one moment.
Congratulations! For completing a Dungeon, you get the skill (Dungeon Diver 1/???)!
For your contribution to the fight, you got one lottery token!
Finally, the boxes stopped appearing and we were able to catch our breath.
"Ok, what the hell just happened! What was that all about!" It was me this time that spoke up. I was getting really frustrated with this whole thing, and with it not telling us some vital information. What was fight contribution? How do we earn these skills? Why were we teleported back here after killing the bosses? Why weren't we informed about these seemingly important things? Those were just some of my questions that I wanted answered, and I had a lot more in store.
"To answer your questions, you were teleported back here to divvy up the rest of the loot. So as to not bag you all down with having to carry the stuff back, it was determined to just teleport you all back here to look through the loot yourselves. Before asking me any more questions, please go through the loot you've all acquired."
I let out a massive sigh and rub my hand across my face. This would be so much easier if it just explained everything upfront.
"I swear, this system is going to drive me insane." I heard Weiss mutter from beside, and I couldn't agree more.
"Before we open the chest on the table, did you guys get an award for your 'fight contribution' as well?" It was Blake this time who spoke, sounding just as tired as the rest of us.
I absently nodded, just now registering the fact that there was, indeed, a chest laid out on the table.
"Yeah, I got a lottery token as a reward, what about you all?" I spoke up, looking at each of them.
Weiss was the first to speak up, "I was given a weapon called a 'Hidden Leaf Kunai', whatever that is, and 'The entirety of the Harry Potter Literary Series'." She said, looking over towards a different table behind me.
Looking back, I did indeed see a collection of books, along with a knife-like weapon. On the table also sat a multitude of different things, which I assumed to be the rest of our rewards.
"It gave me two lottery tokens, along with an iron short sword." It was Blake this time who spoke up, and just like she said, her rewards were there as well.
In fact, counting all the lottery tokens that I could see, there were six of them in total. I could hazard a guess as to who those last three belong too.
"I was given three lottery tokens, one for killing all the Beowulf's that I did, and the other two for killing the 'bosses' of the area." Ruby said, confirming my suspicions.
It made sense for us to get the rewards that we did. Blake was the only one out of us to have a fully automatic weapon, which allowed her to kill more Grimm that way. Weiss on the other hand, didn't have such advantages, with her rapier being awkward to shoot at best. Her strong suit laid much more in her sword skills and her semblance than it did with firing a weapon.
"Did you all also get two new skills?" Ruby spoke up this time, staring off into deep space, more than likely looking at the description of the skills.
"Are they called Dungeon Diver and Grimm Slayer?" Weiss asked, and Ruby nodded.
"I got those as well." Blake said, turning her eyes towards me. I answered her unasked question with a nod, and brung up the two skills descriptions.
*Grimm Slayer 1/10: Beware creatures of darkness, as your Hunters are on the prowl! For every level gained in this skill, deal 10% extra damage to any kind of Grimm.*
*Dungeon Diver 1/???: Look out below! For every level gained in this skill, have an increased chance at getting better loot in any kind of Dungeons.*
Not bad skills whatsoever, especially the Grimm Slayer one, that will be immensely helpful when we get back home.
"So, who wants to open the chest?" Weiss asked us.
"I'll do it." I said, raising my hand and volunteering myself to open it. They didn't raise any qualms about it, so I outstretched my hands and un-clipped the lock.
Immediately, there was a flash of white, blinding us for a second. Once my vision returned to normal, I noticed the chest was gone, replaced with a multitude of different things now lying on the table.
Congratulations! You opened a common chest!
Rewards: one lottery token, one steel long sword, one potion of temporary lactation, and one potion of temporary breast enlargement! May your luck continue!
Bonus Reward: Challenge Dungeon unlocked: Nacht der Untoten. May your luck continue!
I couldn't help but sigh and have a massive blush come over my face at the last two 'rewards' from the chest. And from the looks of it, the others couldn't as well.
With another sigh, I inspected the items.
The lottery token and long sword were just that, with the description for the long sword saying either use it as a weapon or to decorate our Hub with. The potions and the Challenge Dungeon is what had my curiosity anyways.
*Potion of temporary lactation: Milk is good for the bones as they say! For a period of one hour, the person who drinks this potion will be able to lactate milk. Note: Only works on females of a species.* It was the same size as my other potion but it was white in color instead of blue.
*Potion of temporary breast enlargement: They say bigger is better! Does this ring true here? For a period of one hour, the drinker's breasts will grow two cup sizes. Note: Only works on females of a species.* It was the same size of the other two, but it was colored pink instead.
*Challenge Dungeon: Nacht der Untoten: The Nazis just won't stay dead! Can you permanently send them back to hell?*
While the Challenge Dungeon seems kind of cool, I was still blushing up a storm at the two potions we were given.
"I swear, whoever made this system is extremely perverted." Weiss said, rubbing a hand across her face. We all nodded along at that, completely agreeing with her.
"Alright," Ruby spoke up, "System, can you please explain to us what this system is all about?" She asked, completely ignoring the two potions.
"I'm afraid I can't do that right now." The voice answered her. I cracked my knuckles in pure frustration. This thing was really starting to get on my nerves.
"And why not?" Weiss said in a dangerously low tone of voice, just a hairs length away from blowing up in pure anger.
"It has been determined that I can explain everything about the system after you complete one of each Dungeon."
"Didn't you just say you would explain everything to us after we got done with the chest?" Blake spoke up after a little bit, taking up the conversation where Weiss left off. She was currently fuming and almost frothing at the mouth in rage. I couldn't blame her, because I have the same mindset as her right now.
"Incorrect, I said no such thing about answering questions about the system." It said in its same cold and emotionless voice. I was just about to blow up at it, but Ruby spoke before I could.
"Enough," she started with a sigh, "let's just sort through all of this and complete what we have to do. It's clear that it won't tell us anything." I released a sigh of my own and nodded in agreement. I sat back in my chair, letting the embers of anger simmer down inside me.
"So, who should get what?" Blake spoke up, looking at the loot on the table.
"I say Weiss gets the token since she didn't get one from the Dungeon." Ruby voiced her opinion, and Blake and I nodded in agreement.
Weiss let a small smile come across her face, "Thanks, I appreciate it." She said in a tired tone of voice, reaching over and taking the token.
I let out a little smile of my own and threw a thumbs up at her.
"I say we hang the sword somewhere, like above the bar or something like that." Blake said, picking up the long sword.
Having no better idea for it, I shrugged my shoulders and agreed with her.
"That sounds like a good idea, nice thinking Blake." Ruby said, and Blake just smiled at the praise.
"Now, onto the potions." I say, picking them up. "I say we put them behind the bar, just in case we need them. For all we know, they might come in handy in the Erotic Dungeon." I couldn't quite keep the blush from coming back on my face.
The others also had blushes on their faces as well, but they agreed with me nonetheless.
I got up with the potions in hand and collected the other potion I got from my token and made my way over to the bar. Walking behind it, I placed them on the shelves, just in sight of our table.
Blake was close behind me and picked up a ladder that was beside the bar. Getting out of her way, I watched as she climbed up it, and placed the sword just above the shelves full of liquor.
"Huh, that does look nice." I muttered out as I looked at it.
We made our way back to the table and sat down. We sat there in a comfortable silence for a moment until Weiss broke it, "So, should we use our tokens now, or wait until after we are done with everything else?" She said, twirling around her token in between her fingers.
"I don't really care, whatever you guys want to do." I say, leaning back in my chair.
"I say Ruby and I should open ours until we both have one each, that way, we all will have the same amount." Blake said, reaching across and grabbing the tokens from the other table.
Seeing as I had no better idea, I shrugged my shoulders and went along with it. Weiss agreed as well and leaned back in her chair also. Blake handed me my token and then took the two of hers.
"I'll go first." Ruby said, breaking a token of hers in half. It wasn't much longer until something phased into being and landed on the table.
It was a round shield, about two and a half feet in diameter. It was made almost entirely of wood, with only the middle being made of metal.
"It says it's just a regular round shield, I can use it for battle or to decorate." Ruby said in a slightly disappointed tone of voice. I couldn't help but to smile a bit at her misfortune, compared to her first token, that would suck.
Seeing nothing better to do with it, she picked up the shield and brought it up to the bar and placed it on a hook underneath one of the seats, adding on to the charm of the place.
"My turn." Blake said when Ruby got back. She broke hers, and yet again, something materialized in the air and fell onto the table.
It was a dart board, and with it came six darts, three blue and three red.
Blake sighed and spoke, "Just a regular dart board. Nothing special about it."
I clapped her on the shoulder in moral support for her bad luck, poor girl can't seem to get something good, just like me so far.
"Ok, wish me luck." Ruby said, and snapped another one of her tokens.
This time, something much more interesting popped into being. A green tank, about six inches long, three inches wide and two inches in height, plopped down on our table.
It immediately started driving towards Ruby, its cannon aimed high. When it was about six inches away from Ruby, it came to an immediate stop, almost as if it was awaiting orders.
"Um, hi?" Ruby confusedly got out, quite bewildered as to what was happening. The tank, in an act of surprise, nodded it's turret up and down, saying hi as well.
"So, what is it Ruby." Weiss asked in a curious tone of voice as she examined the tank like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
"It's apparently called a small Green Army tank. It is a summon that I can use in battle, though it did say that it was quite weak, with it only being effective against something like itself or small critters like a mouse. It also came with a warning that it will attack any other color that wasn't itself with extreme prejudice." She said, in a still confused tone of voice.
A gleam came over her eyes as she thought of something. Just as I was about to ask, she got up and picked up the tank. She made her way over to the bar again and placed it down on the counter.
"Patrol around this place, and if something that isn't one of us comes around, you can fire on it." She told the tank, and it nodded it's turret once more. It started to drive once again, doing as it was told to do.
Ruby came back to our table and sat down with us. We silent for a decent amount of time, with us being entrapped with the tank making its rounds around the table.
"As much as I like looking at the tank doing its thing, don't you all think it's time to do the Challenge Dungeon now?" It was Blake this time who spoke. We all nodded at her, and with that, we got up from our seats and approached the tavern doors once more.
Welp, here's another chapter! I hope you enjoyed it!
I honestly surprised myself with this one, I wasn't expecting to have a new chapter written this soon, but here we are.
As you can definitely see, the system is being pretty annoying. I wonder why that is? ;)
Ruby got herself a summon to use, so that's nice, let's see if she gets any more.
Also, a new Challenge Dungeon is unlocked, I bet you can guess what next chapter is going to be!
If you have any suggestions, I'm completely to them, so please, send them my way!
if you like the chapter, please let me know, if you didn't, also let me know, it only helps!
Weiss's Pokémon is still not decide, so if you have a suggestion, please shoot it my way, it may very well happen!
But, that's all I got for you, for now, so until next time, and have an amazing day!
