A silent plea,

Embrace the whispers of the moon,

Brave and free,

Together we stand 'neath moonlit skies.

For soon, the hour of change will loom.

In unity, we stand, hearts stout,

Awaiting the call, without a doubt.

So hush your words, let secrecy reign,

For in the silence, a strength we gain.

With every breath, the night implores,

Prepare, my friends, for the coming wars,

Of creatures born of moonlit tides.

Vegeta's onyx-colored eyes sparkled with an uncharacteristic joy, illuminated by the dark steel depths of his gaze, revealing a rare glimpse into his soul. Only two things could make the Sayian as happy as he was now: a good fight and his intended. Eager to see her, the Saiyan prince walked with quick, determined strides to her lavish home, hoping that their farewell would be brief.

He was to be sent out on another planetary conquest mission.

Despite the planet's inhabitants not being known for their strength, Kagome still worried about his safety. Vegeta felt fortunate enough that his future mate cared so deeply for him, and he shared in the feeling, despising being away from her for any length of time. He knew it affected her more than she let on.

Vegeta had been staring at the garden to his side, lost in thought when he heard the whisper of footsteps against the stone. He quickly looked up, her body a blur as she raced towards him. Her slim arms wrapped around his neck as he held her firmly around the waist, keeping her close to his body. They stayed like that for a long moment, his nose buried in her long raven hair, breathing in her fresh scent that had already branded his mind.

It was unusual for a Saiyan to have long hair, often cutting it short to avoid opponents grabbing onto it, giving them a disadvantage in battle. However, Kagome defied these conventions by not only leaving her hair long but loose. As if daring anyone to oppose her, though as one of the strongest females on Vegeta and his future mate, no one dared to rise to the challenge.

His tail unwrapped from his waist and caressed hers, hoping to calm her.

She pulled back. Looking down, he caught sight of her sapphire eyes, swirling with anxiety, fear, and so many more emotions that he couldn't even begin to name.

She gripped his shirt, and he had to suppress the shiver the lightness of her touch inspired and the needy flash of desire. "You need not worry; I'll be back before you know it," he breathed in a gentle whisper, caressing her hair and sweeping it from her eyes. Kagome shivered, her heart fluttering at the gentleness in his gaze.

Vegeta embodied what every male Saiyan strived to achieve; he was strong-willed, perceptive, courageous, handsome, tenacious, devious, and powerful. These traits had initially been alluring to Kagome, but knowing and growing with him, she saw a man who bled and catered to the weaker, strove tirelessly for greatness and to perfect his craft, and whose brilliance left her in awe. And she was his.

Kagome had been promised to Vegeta from a young age, initially so that she would be birthing him an heir when it came time for him to take the throne. However, as they spent more time together, they fell in love. Their love formed around Lord Frieza's "private" training, to which he would take the prince away for months. She couldn't stand the time apart and had seen the strain on her King and Queen's faces when they welcomed him home.

No one trusted Frieza, but no one seemed to know the depth of the alien's evil and why he'd been interested in Vegeta. And then her. She shivered again, not from the warmth of Vegeta's embrace but from fear. The alien tyrant was not to be trusted. He had tried forcing himself upon her and "persuading" her to leave Vegeta; the alien talked of things in her presence that made her skin crawl.

"Promise you'll return to me," Kagome pleaded, feeling an intense need to make him stay.

"I'll return soon, I promise," he whispered into her hair before placing a kiss on her temple, causing her heart to race.

Mating among Saiyans was nearly unheard of, with many in open or purely sexual relationships. But the two were far too enthralled with each other to share themselves with anyone else.

"I'll return soon, I promise," he whispered into her hair, only for her to hear.

Kagome felt her heart sink. She could not shake the gnawing sense of foreboding that accompanied his departure this time. Though he had made this promise before, it no longer offered the comfort it once had; she couldn't shake the fear that he wouldn't be able to keep it this time.

As Vegeta moved to leave for his ship, Kagome couldn't let him go without expressing her emotions. Summoning her courage, she reached out and gently cupped his face, drawing his gaze down to meet hers. And then she kissed him.

Her lips met his in a hesitant yet earnest display of affection, attempting to convey the depth of her feelings. As their mouths melded together, sensations surged through her. Heat blossomed in her belly as his hands traced the contours of her body, igniting a fervor she hadn't known before.

Desire coursed through her veins as Vegeta deepened the kiss, his dominance asserting itself. She yielded to him; it was a sensation that was foreign yet electrifying. A primal moan escaped her as she surrendered to the pleasure, her body trembling in response.

But amidst the passion, fear lurked in the recesses of her mind. Even as her body yearned for more, her mind couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom. Kagome instinctively knew that this would be the last time she would ever hold him like this. She could feel it in her bones. She pushed against his chest, breaking the kiss, unable to meet his gaze.

"I love you." The ache in her heart was almost unbearable as she whispered her love to him. It was a phrase that had never left her lips before, but it was one that needed to be said. "Know that you carry my heart wherever you go."

With those words still hanging in the air, Kagome raced to her room, a sense of impending doom settling heavily in her stomach. She couldn't just sit back and watch as her people were devastated by whatever was coming next.

She wiped away her tears and squared her shoulders; she would need to summon all her strength to avoid giving in to her emotions, as recklessness could lead to disaster.

As much as she wanted to avoid war, war was the only option.

The letter she had received before her meeting with Vegeta made that crystal clear. The Saiyans were no longer willing to tolerate Frieza and his minions' tyranny. They were preparing to take up arms against the despot who had inflicted unimaginable pain on their race.

And she would fight to protect her people, no matter what the cost.

Kagome had wanted to tell Vegeta of the letter but knew that if he'd known, he wouldn't have followed along with any of Frieza's orders. They needed to prepare to keep Frieza from guessing their plans.

Before she could go to her office to begin drafting plans for the rebellion, a loathsome and familiar presence entered her room. She froze at the sound of the low and creeping voice of the being she hated most.

"Hello, my pet~," he said in a tone that made Kagome's hands tremble and her spine stiffen. She cringed at the sensation of his scaled finger grazing the exposed skin on her upper arm.

"Hello, Lord Frieza." Kagome fought to keep the revulsion from her voice as she responded, "You realize it is unbecoming to lurk in a promised lady's chambers."

"Come now, my dear. You should be honored that I have chosen to grace you with my presence before I meet your people's king." Frieza said in a lower tone. "You are a rare jewel among wild animals," His hand swept her hair over her shoulder, his palm covering the nape of her throat while his fingertips pressed into her skin.

She fought against the shiver in her muscles, knowing that he could snap her neck without a second thought from this position, as he had already admitted to her. This was about power; the more she reacted, the more interested he became in her.

Kagome tried to maintain her composure and said sweetly, "Thank you for your kind words." But deep down, she felt nothing but hatred and disgust towards the monster before her. She despised how she had to play the role of a subservient pet in front of Frieza, the alien having shown his true intention all ago. Of all the Saiyans and aliens at Frieza's disposal, Kagome was probably the only one who knew how deplorable he truly was and what desires he held.

Frieza was a chameleon who only ever pretended to be pleasant in front of King Vegeta and Prince Vegeta to keep up the illusion that they were allies. But Kagome knew the truth—that Frieza was biding his time, ready to kill them all should the opportunity arise. She just didn't know what and why he was waiting.

"My darling, why are you so upset? Is it because your little prince had to leave?" Frieza teased her as he buried his nose in her hair, allowing her to hear every deep breath he took.

"He will return to me, as he always does," Kagome said with pride, masking the worry that clouded her heart.

"But when will you come to your senses, my dear Kagome?" Frieza growled, intensifying the pressure on her throat. She hated the sound of her name on his lips, a growl building in her throat.

"What do you mean by that?" Kagome asked, turning to face his beady red eyes surrounded by lavender-pink scales. Her stomach churned with the softness he looked at her with and the ownership he grabbed at her with.

"Aren't you tired of living under Prince Vegeta's shadow? He's a Saiyan, a monkey! What do you see in him?" Frieza smirked, pulling away from Kagome and looking her up and down.

"I'm a Saiyan," Kagome added.

His eyes flashed. "You, my dear, are a jewel."

"I am not Vegeta's shadow, I am his mate," Kagome stared hard, satisfaction rising as he advanced toward her, hand gripping her jaw.

"You-"

The door opened. Bardock stood tall and proud with his shoulders back and chest out. He nearly removed her entire doorway with his board form covered in thick, scarred muscles. He dressed in his usual black spandex, dark blue armor, and a red headband with matching color bands covering his wrists while on his feet were black combat boots. He was an ideal saiyan with his gravity-defying black hair and brown tail. Still, he also held true to their nature, growing in wisdom and strength with every battle he faced.

He glared openly at Frieza, who continued to smile his wicked grin.

Frieza's fingertips lingered on Kagome's skin as he said, "You have poor taste," and left the room.

Bardock approached her, annoyed and concerned. "He didn't bother you too much, did he?" he asked, his callused hand placed gently on her shoulder.

Kagome growled lowly, her hands trembling as anger broiled in her gut. "I have a missive to send."

Bardock smiled knowingly.

Although the galaxy perceived them as brutes, Saiyans were equally clever. Vegeta claimed that their race possessed both intelligence and physical strength, but it was not until she was born that their race was blessed with beauty. The thought of him only pained her heart as she wrote a reply to the earlier message.

As twilight fades and night draws near,

Our destinies align, crystal clear.

In silent vows, our course is set,

With hidden kin, we'll not forget.

Beyond the stars, a refuge awaits,

Where kindred souls unlock the gates.

Should darkness fall and courage wane,

Together, in shadows, we'll remain.

So heed this verse, in hushed refrain,

Our plans obscured, our aims maintain.

With allies near, our cause prevails,

In the subtle dance of whispered tales.

After several hours had passed, a clandestine meeting was held, and the news began to circulate among her contacts. She instructed them to prepare their fighters and send away the weaker members of their community so as to avoid casualties during the impending rebellion.

Kagome, along with thousands of others, was facing the possibility of death in the coming days. But she was determined to fight till the end, determined to go down fighting, drawing on her Saiyan blood and fierce spirit to do whatever it took to bring down Frieza and his evil regime.
