Since it was night, Draco brought Astra and Starbeam to Gryffindor tower, instead of the library. He and Astra hugged, Astra told the fat lady the password, and she and Starbeam went through.
Astra sat down, in the Gryffindor common room, and Starbeam jumped onto her lap.
Astra was worried about Harry, as she had been during all of the tasks. It occurred to her that, while she liked Harry, she had not bonded with him, as much as she had with Ron, Hermione and Heather. She was not sure why that was. She had bounded with Hermione almost right away. Ron had originally not seemed to like her, but now they were pretty close. It took awhile to feel close with Heather, as she had been so reserved, but it happened.
Astra felt bad about not being closer with Harry, especially since he had been the first one to introduce himself and it seemed as though introducing themselves had been his idea. Maybe that was it though. Ever since she heard heard about Sirius, she had been worried that Harry's interest in her had just been because she reminded her of Sirius. Since Astra felt as though she only had a little in common with Sirius, she wondered if Harry was just seeing what he wanted to see.
Astra flinched, and Starbeam stood up, when Crookshanks jumped onto Astra's lap. Astra sighed in relief, seeing that it was just Crookshanks. Soon, both cats were lying beside each other, on Astra's lap. At least they had tried to both be on Astra's lap. They were actually each partly on Astra's lap, and partly on the side of the chair, because Astra's lap was not that big.
Draco was shocked by what Goyle said Crabb had been asked to do, and was trying to do. He excused himself, saying that he had to go to the bathroom, and got up.
Draco approached where Hermione was sitting, with the Weasley family, the Delacore family, and Heather.
"Hermione," he said, "Astra wants you,"
"Alright. What for?"
"I don't know, but she says it's urgent. She's waiting for you in the Gryffindor common room."
"Alright," she said. She got up and started heading for the castle.
Draco noticed everyone giving him weird looks. He turned up his nose, and walked several feet away. He looked behind him, and then walked to the castle doors, suppressing his urge to run. Once in the castle, he looked around. Since there was nobody around, except for Hermione, who was part way up the staircase, he started running. "Hermione, wait," he called.
Hermione stopped, and looked at him.
Draco ran up to her. He looked around, and then looked at her. "Astra does not really need you," he said He looked around again. "You didn't hear this from me, but somebody is trying to cast the Imperius curse on Fleur or Krum, so they can make them sabotage everyone except for Harry, because the cup is really a portkey, and it's a plot to make Voldemort return."
Hermione stared at him, in shock.
"Go," Draco said. "Save the day."
Hermione rushed down the stairs, and out of the castle.
He wondered and feared what would happen if Voldemort returned, and if he found out that his sister had lycanthrophy.
Harry walked through the maze. He had seen, and fought off, some creatures, since he began, but he had not seen any of her opponents. He saw Cedric at the beginning, before they parted ways, and he had not seen Fleur or Krum at all. At one point, he thought he saw a broomstick going over the maze, but that he figured he was just imagining things.
Harry realized that he could hear voices, up ahead. He creeped closer to the sound, and eventually he was able to make it out.
"... get on this broom, and fly it out of the maze, in victory," said the voice of Professor Dumbledore.
"I don't know that this is a fair win. It's not Fleur and Krum's fault they were sabotaged," said Cedric.
"It's not your fault either," said Professor Snape.
Harry stepped into view.
"Don't touch the cup," Professor Dumbledore, Professor Snape, and Cedric all said at the same time.
"What's going on?" Harry asked.
"Hermione ran up to me…" Professor Dumbledore started, and told him what Hermione had said.
Harry Potter stared at him, in shock. "So, that's why my name was put in the goblet of fire, and why Barty Crouch Jr. was impersonating Professor Moody."
"Yes," Professor Dumbledore said.
"But, who was trying to do the Imperius curse, and how did Hermione know?"
"I don't know," Professor Dumbledore said. "There was no time for such questions."
"What happened to Fleur and Krum?"
"Miss Delacour, had the Imperius curse on her, and I found Mr. Krum under a body-binding curse," Professor Snape explained.
"Mr. Diggory, since you and Harry are both tied for first place, anyway, and are from the same school, maybe you two should just both tie for first place in the whole tournament," Professor Dumbledore suggested.
"Well, that seems fair enough," Cedric said.
Astra waited, in the Gryffindor common room, with Ron and Heather, who had filled Astra in on what had happened at the tournament.
Hermione and Harry came in.
"What happened?" Ron asked.
"Dumbledore asked Hermione who her informer was, and she told him," Harry said. "Snape is going to ask all the Slytherin if they know who cast the Imperius curse, without telling them who Hermione's informer was."
Ron looked at Hermione. "Who was your informer?"
Hermione looked at Astra, with a smile, and then she looked around, and then looked back at Astra. "Draco," she whispered.
The next day, Astra ran into Draco, in the hallway, and gave him a thank you note, sighed by Hermione, Harry, Ron, Heather, and herself.
Later that day, she and Hermione sent a letter, to the ministry, explaining that they thought Rita Skeeter was an unregistered bug animagus. A few days later, a Daily Prophet article proved that they were right.
