Chapter 61
***PCPD***
(As asked, Alexis arrives and sees Dante at his desk)
Alexis: "Alright, I'm here. What questions do you have for me?"
(As Dante has Alexis follow him into the interrogation room and shuts the door, he speaks)
Dante: "We're going in here. So, this time, Morgan cannot interrupt like he interrupted me last time I interrogated someone."
Alexis: "Why were you out in the open area to begin with while questioning Sam, as I'm assuming that's who you're talking about being I'm here now?"
(They both sit down. Dante furthest away from the door)
Dante: "I do technically question suspects in here. I honestly didn't think it'd be a problem doing it out there. Needless to say, I won't repeat it."
(Dante opens the file on the matter at hand and a notepad)
Dante: "I know that you're a lawyer, but you want one for yourself? Maybe Diane?"
Alexis: (nods) "I know my rights. Being I'm a lawyer, I also know what you're allowed and not allowed to ask. Ask your questions."
(Dante readjusts himself in his chair as he prepares himself)
Dante: "Sam stated she had an alibi the morning Elizabeth Baldwin was kidnapped. She said she stayed the night at your cottage with Danny. True?"
Alexis: "Yes, that's true."
Dante: "Sam also said she brought Danny to school the next morning? That true?"
(Alexis sighs deeply as she stares at Dante before clearing her throat)
Alexis: "No, it's not. I let Sam sleep in, so I brought Danny to school."
(Dante turned his face slightly and he knew what that meant)
Dante: "So, you're saying Sam lied about taking Danny to school?"
(Alexis stares him in the face before speaking)
Alexis: "Yes, that's what I'm saying."
(Dante writes a few notes down before focusing on Alexis again)
Dante: "Do you know why she would lie about not having an alibi?"
Alexis: "It's not fair of me to answer that question because I don't know what Sam was thinking at the time. Next question, detective?"
Dante: "Did Sam tell you what she did on that morning instead?"
Alexis: "No, she did not. I figured that she slept in. That's why I brought Danny to school so she could sleep in."
Dante: "Do you know what the relationship is between Sam and Elizabeth Baldwin? Meaning, do they dislike each other?"
Alexis: "That is a question you are going to have to ask Sam. I'm not going to presume to know how those two women feel about each other. Any other questions?"
Dante: "Nope. I'll be questioning Sam again."
Alexis: (nods) "Okay."
(Alexis grabs her purse and walks out. Dante sits on the edge of the table as he thinks aloud)
Dante: "Why would you lie about your alibi, Sam? That was the morning Elizabeth Baldwin was abducted."
(Dante shakes his head as he thought of the idea)
Dante: "Oh, Sam, I hope you weren't involved."
***Sam's Penthouse***
(Alexis needed answers. She hoped to God she was wrong. Her lawyer instincts told her she wasn't, though. Alexis knocked on Sam's front door. Sam answers)
Sam: "This is a surprise."
Alexis: "We need to talk."
(Alexis walks past Sam and lets herself in. Sam closes the door behind her)
Sam: "Why?"
(Sam turns around to face her mother, who's in front of the coffee table looking at Sam)
Alexis: "I was just questioned by Detective Falconeri on your alibi."
Sam: (rolls her eyes) "Let me guess…."
Alexis: (serious tone) "Unlike you, who has trouble doing so, I told the truth."
(Sam folds her arms across her chest)
Sam: "What'd you say?"
Alexis: "That I let you sleep in while I took Danny to school." (raises her eyebrows) "Meaning you had motive and the means to kidnap Elizabeth Baldwin. Did you do it, Sam? Did you kidnap her?"
(Sam has an emotionless face as she spoke)
Sam: "Being you're involved in my nonexistent alibi, I think it's safe to say that you can't be my lawyer anymore, correct?"
Alexis: (sighs deeply) "Correct. Scott Baldwin is a lawyer. You will have to hire him."
Sam: (nods) "Okay."
(Sam walks away from Alexis. Alexis scoffs and raises her hands to her sides incredulously)
Alexis: "That's it? That's all you have to say?"
(Sam faces her mom and shrugs somewhat in defeat)
Sam: "What more do you want, Mom? You refuse to be my lawyer because of my alibi. I will respect that. But I'll tell you what I WON'T do. I WON'T tell you everything so you can blab it all to Dante or whoever." (scoffs lightly) "I don't think so."
(Alexis looks at Sam in disbelief! She truly did not recognize her own daughter! Alexis walks slowly to Sam with a continued shocked face)
Alexis: "You really had her kidnapped, didn't you? You really went that far."
(Sam clears her throat and just stares at her mom)
Sam: "I need to do a few things before I pick up Danny from school. You're welcome to leave."
(Alexis scoffs as she shook her head and couldn't help but say the next words)
Alexis: "Are you actually going to spend time with him?"
(Sam looks between the door and Alexis)
Alexis: "Goodbye, Mother."
Alexis: "You DO know that you brought this on yourself, right? Because of your jealously of Elizabeth and the fact that Jason has always truly loved her. You need to accept that and move on, Sam."
(Alexis walks out and closed the door behind her. Sam just shakes her head in anger)
***PCPD***
(Cyrus, who was in his jailcell, was brought into the interrogation room. He was hoping he was meeting his lawyer, but he didn't know for sure. Dante comes in and shuts the door behind him)
Cyrus: "Detective, may I ask why I was brought in here?"
Dante: "Martin Grey is here as your lawyer."
(Cyrus is caught off-guard by that announcement)
Cyrus: "I'm surprised as I haven't hired anyone yet."
Dante: "Thank your lucky stars, Renault. Martin Grey came here as a 'friend' of sorts recommended by someone special…someone who asked to remain anonymous."
(Martin Grey comes into the interrogation room)
Martin: "Hello, Mr. Renault."
Cyrus: "Cyrus, please."
Martin: "Cyrus, it is."
Cyrus: "Did Elizabeth Webber, by chance, send you here or ask you to come?"
Martin: (smirks) "Let's just say a guardian angel is watching over you."
***GH***
(After a few hours, Elizabeth is fully awake and alert. She was appreciative that she could take a nap for a few hours. She is now ready to see her kids. However, first things first. Jason shakes his head in confusion)
Jason: "I still don't understand why you asked Martin Grey to be Cyrus Renault's lawyer after what he did to you. He helped kidnap you, Elizabeth."
Liz: (acknowledged) "Yes, he did. It was Sam's idea and I believe she put him up to it. Do I hold him responsible? Yes. But is he solely responsible? No. I know he'll go to jail. Not for very long, compared to Sam. Also, I didn't hire Martin, Jason. I simply called Martin and asked him to represent Cyrus. It's up to Martin whether he chooses to do it or not. Cyrus was nice to me when I was held captive. I told him if he helped me out by letting me call you, I would help him out and not paint him in a bad light. You know I keep my word."
(Jason was not the happiest, but he understood his girls reasoning on the matter. He caved in)
Jason: (smiled) "I love you, Webber."
Liz: (chuckles) "I love you, too, Morgan." (disoriented) "Did you call the boys? I'm ready to see them."
(All of a sudden, Cameron peeps his head in the doorway)
Cameron: (smiles) "Did someone say they wish to see me along with my two brothers?"
Liz: (laughs) "Yes! Get over here!"
(Cameron, Jake, and Aiden eagerly go to their mother. They take turns hugging her)
Cameron: "Do you have any idea how much we missed you?"
Jake: "Don't you ever scare us like that again."
Aiden: "Are you okay, Mom?"
Liz: (nods) "I am now, I missed you guys and your father more than you know. I'm just glad I'm back with you."
Cameron: (smiles) "Trust me, Mom. We're glad, too. It wasn't the same without you."
(Elizabeth lightly kisses Cameron's cheek)
Liz: "I love you, too, sweetie."
(All of a sudden, Jason's cell phone rings. He answers on the third ring)
Jason: "Morgan. Okay. As soon as Elizabeth is discharged and back at home, you can come over. It should be tomorrow. Thanks."
(Call ends)
Liz: (curiously) "Who was that?"
Jason: "Diane Miller. She has news for us. She asked when it would be a good time to visit. I said tomorrow after you're discharged because then we'll have all the time in the world."
Liz: (nods) "Can't wait to hear the news."
Jason: "Me, either."
