I was doing my Grey's rewatch, and thought wouldn't it be cool if the documentary firm followed Arizona to Africa.
And so this fic was born...
Cristina rolled her eyes walking into Mrs Garston's room. The old biddy loved documentaries, but not the well put together interesting documentaries, no she loved the crappy ones, the ones that were conspiracy theories and even a basic google disproved. She hated it and the sucking up she had to do, but Mrs Garston also had a terrible heart, that needed lots of surgery, so Cristina put on her best smile trying to act like she cared.
"Coming up after the break, one hundred reasons the moon landings were faked, and remember later on we have our Malawi special, following Doctor Arizona Robbins as she tries to revolutionize healthcare".
Cristina stopped her mouth dropping open, there wasn't a lot that shocked her, but this, this did. Arizona Robbins, the woman who had left her friend Callie at the airport, who had broken her heart in a documentary, this she had to see.
"It's a great documentary, this is part 4 of 5, I only came here after I saw the one on the shooting, and well, I wanted to be part of it." Mrs Garston explained gleefully, Cristina tensed, while she had come back to work after the shooting, and her brief stint as a bar tender, she still hated shootings, even the mention made her feel ill. People choosing to travel to a hospital because a shooting had taken place was strange, and weird. Still, it meant more interesting Cardio surgeries, so as long as Mrs Garston shut up, Cristina could cope.
"Your blood work is good, and your observations are normal, as long as the cardiac physio is okay with your progress, I think we can look at discharge tomorrow" Cristina told her patient, delivering the news she had come to say. Without waiting for a reply, she left, she needed to find Meredith, let her know she was hosting a party tonight, and they were going to need lots and lots of tequila.
Meredith was at the nurse's station on the general floor charting,
"Mere, tonight you're hosting a party" she announced not giving her best friend a choice. Meredith's house was the biggest as was her TV.
"I am?" Meredith asked amused, not surprised at all at Cristina's antics but curious as to the reason.
"Uh huh, Robbins in on a documentary, and I googled it, we can watch all 4 episodes. It's going to be great" Cristina said excitedly, "I'll start inviting people,"
"But I haven't said yes yet" Meredith replied to an empty space, she sighed, it looked like they were hosting a party, which meant she needed to tell Derek quick, before he heard about it from someone else.
Cristina left Meredith, she had people to invite, and an ex-roommate to warn. Despite what some people thought she wasn't a total pyscho. Callie was still devastated by Arizona leaving, and the fact she hadn't heard about the documentary on the grape vine, meant neither had anyone else. Which meant Callie was in the dark.
"Hey evil spawn, Mer's tonight, 7pm," she ordered,
"Why?" Alex responded,
"Your ex-mentor is on TV" Cristina said walking off, Alex would be there,
"Jackson, Kepner" she said catching up to the 2-remaining mercy-westers. "Mer's house tonight 7pm" she ordered, wondering when those 2 were going to stop pretending they were just friends and do it already, Kepner had already waited her whole life, Jackson needed to stop messing around, the sexual tension was killing everyone.
"Why?" Jackson asked.
"Because I said so" Cristina replied, frustrated, why couldn't people just do like she asked the first time.
She walked on, they'd be there still desperate to fit in, finally she found her next target,
"Callie" she said softly, despite her public profile of being hard and uncaring Cristina knew this would be hard on her friend,
"Yang" Callie greeted,
"I need to talk to you" Cristina said dragging Callie into an on-call room, "Arizona is on TV tonight, there's a documentary, it's 5 parts, the first 3 have already aired, tonight is part 4, we are all going to Mer's to watch it" she paused watching Callie pale and sit on the cot.
"There's a documentary" she repeated, Cristina nodded, that's what she had just said, sighing she made herself comfortable,
"Yeah," Cristina sat next to Callie on the cot in silent support, not touching because that would be too much.
"Okay, I can do this, I can watch, because I am over her, she left me and I am bad ass, I am changing lives here, I invented liquid cartilage, I'm going to watch this documentary and be fine because she left me" Callie decided firmly, "I mean, it was ages ago, months even" she continued, Cristina nodded obligingly, texting Owen to come to the party, telling him to invite Teddy and Webber, running through her mental list as Callie blabbed on all she needed to do now was find Bailey, get tequila and come up with a kick ass Arizona related drinking came and they'd be good to go.
"Are you even listening to me?" Callie asked frustrated,
Cristina rolled her eyes, truthfully, she hadn't been listening, she had a party to plan, not like a normal party but still this was going to be fun,
"Not really," she admitted, "invite Sloan, 7pm" she said standing up, she had been as supportive as she could be but Callie and Arizona that was a saga nobody could sit through for too long.
She left to go and find Teddy, hopefully she could scrub in on her valve replacement. Plus, she could invite her to the party if Owen hadn't already. She found Bailey on route,
"Robbins is on TV last night, we're watching it at Mer's 7pm" she invited, Bailey nodded. Cristina walked on; this was shaping up to be a night to remember.
Scrubbing out she met Meredith in the lobby, they drove to the store grabbing chips and booze, beer for the guys, wine for the girls and tequila for themselves. Next was Mere's house, downloading the last 4 episodes they had missed, although how Cristina would never know, surely someone at the hospital watched this trash other than Mrs Garston. With the episodes loaded it was now time to wait until 7pm when everyone would arrive.
Its really interesting trying to write Cristina, i hope i did her character justice, as normal let me know
