Visiting Day

Chapter 2: Promises

Blitzø threw open his door, banging it against the back wall.

"Moxxie! Where did we store the extra rope from that last job."

"Do we have another hanging request? You know that was quite odd. We dont typicaly get clientel with such niche interests.."

"Moxx, Shut your hole and bring me the rope or I'll use it on you next."

Moxxie handed Blitzø the rope along with some random climbing gear. Blitzø looks like a man whose bluff was just called.

"Just a hunch" said Moxxie and walked back to the table to continue cleaning his guns.

Blitzø slipped into the bushes with a black duffle bag. He pulled out his favorite sniper rifle and took out the the exterior camera on the left side of the hospital. He set the gun aside and, pulling the rope from the bag, cursed Moxxie.

"That fucking imp is too observant some times." He left the gear, spurning its logic. "I did aerial shows for christ's sake."

He walked up to the side of the building and threw the rope, catching the extended support of the disabled camera. He climbed up, and paused, crouched on the narrow steel beam.

He needs to go 2 more floors up and 3 windows over. As he readied his next move, the window of the room beside him slid open and a feathered head leaned out the opening. Blitzø held his breath. The head turned and he suddenly found himself face to face with Stolas.

"Blitzø?"

"Heyyy, Stolas"

"What are you doing here...there. The building has stairs you know." The sight of Blitzø hanging out gargoyle style on the side of the building was puzzling indeed.

"Yea, but it was a nice night so I thought Id practice climbing for our next job. Gotta shoot an Urban Boulder-er..climber..whatever. You, you look good. You get a new room?"

"A...what? Nevermind. Would you like to come in?" Stolas gestured to the interior of the room."

"Sure." Blitzø jumped, caught the window frame and swung onto the sill to sit just inside the moonlit suite."

"I'm glad you could come. Even under these unique circumstances"

" Yea. Me too. They uh, treating you good here?" Blitzø looked around at the room with all its medical devices and crossed his arms nervously.

"Quite well. They want to discharge me soon. My shoulder is the last thing they want to review before my release."

"You got shot in the shoulder?" Blitzø slid off the sill to the floor and stepped toward Stolas, failing to conceal his concern.

"Stabbed." Stolas, shifted his robe slightly to show Blitzø the remaining bandages. "I did not fully realize the level of danger you little ones put yourselves in every day. How do you do it."

"I mean, we're trained for it. Most Imps enjoy a good fight. Plus we're faster than most of our hits." Explained Blitzø.

"Ah, yes. Well, I will try to be more understanding of your workplace hazards."

"Great."

"If I may, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you, Blitzø, for being there when I needed you."

Stolas extended a hand to lay on Blitzø's shoulder. Blitzø stepped back, confused and angry with Stolas' misplaced gratitude.

"How can you stand there and thank me for something I CLEARLY didnt do!? I wasn't there! You got HURT because I. WASN'T. THERE. It's my job to protect the people I ... It is my fucking JOB to protect you. It's MY failure that I couldnt keep you safe."

"But you did! I understand that your priority was your daughter, and I agree that it was as it should be, but you sent your employees to rescue me. They are quite good. They were able to defeat my captor, collect me and bring me to this place before I bled to death. Without you, I wouldnt be here. Octavia would be alone. So yes, Blitzø. I thank you." Stolas bowed low to Blitzø as If he were a fellow Goetia.

Without acknowledging the gesture, Blitzø walked past Stolas and climbed onto a nearby chair.

Blitzø hates emotion. It always brings him trouble. But satandammit, he's going to rip open a 40 gallon barrell of both right the fuck now.

"Stand up." He commanded. He wanted to make sure that what he was about to do was done on Stolas' level.

Stolas rose to his full height and found himself eyes to eye with Blitzø.

The Imp ran his fingers through the ruffled feathers at the base of Stolas neck and drew the owl into a long, deep kiss. He heard Stolas coo in suprise. He pulled away, eyes downcast, and lightly touched the bandages on Stolas' shoulder. "When I find out who wants you dead, Im going to murder them."

Stolas felt a chill run down his body. This is not the Blitzø he's used to. The tone in his voice rivaled the call of a Reaper.

Stolas' eyes followed Blitzø as he moved toward the open window.

"I wont be back here." Blitzø told him as he climbed onto the ledge. "Hospitals freak me out."

Stolas rushed to the window as Blitzø leapt off the ledge. In one fluid movement Blitzø grabbed the rope, cut it free and landed perfectly on the ground.

Stolas watched as he disappeared into the landscaping.

"I love you, too"
