Karry Universe Anniversary Challenge

Sorry guys; this is NOT a chapter, but this is kind of important and fun…

March 4th, 2019 is the THIRD ANNIVERSARY of Karry Universe! Yeah, we'll be reaching three years soon, yikes. Anyway, for the last two anniversaries I made special chapters to celebrate, but this time I am letting YOU do something special: You are going to be allowed to write inside the Karry Universe for the anniversary celebration.

Now before you get too excited there are some rules for this, so please READ EVERYTHING before starting to plan…

First off you have two options you are allowed to do.

Option A – Rewriting a Previous Chapter: If you ever wanted to do a chapter of Karry Universe I wrote in a different way, this is your chance. You can rewrite a Karry Universe chapter the way you thought it should happen.

Option B – Writing Your Own Chapter: If you wanted something to happen inside Karry Universe I did not do, this is your chance. You can write your own Karry chapter based around your idea.

Now the rules.

General Rules: These rules that apply to both options.

1. Obviously, you can do Option A or Option B, but you can do both options (A and B) too if you want to, but ONLY one of each – you cannot do two rewrites and two own chapters; you can only do ONE of each.

2. Your entry/entries can only be put up ON March 4th, 2019 – not before. This is the date of the anniversary so your entries would represent the anniversary of this story (and yes, I do know there is time differences as my Beta is in the UK, so instead of sticking you with my time zone, if you post it late on the 3rd or early on the 5th I won't go crazy.)

3. The stories MUST take place between chapter 1 (First Meeting) and chapter 45 (A Very Karry Wedding) – I'm sorry if this disappoints, but I felt it was better keeping this early within the story. BUT there is a way to get an exception for this rule – that is at the bottom to explain.

4. You have to say in the summary and in your authors' note of the story that your entry is in honor of Karry Universe's third anniversary.

5. At the beginning of the story, also explain about the challenge and mention our Facebook page (Fanfiction Millma Verse Page).

6. You CANNOT randomly bring in a character you like – you can only use the ones available at the time your chapter is set, so get re-reading to remember who was in those chapters.

7. Please review or PM me (here or on Facebook) to let me know you are going to accept the challenge, so I don't have any surprises. Also, please let me know which option you're doing, or if you're doing both (you do not need to tell me your ideas. I just want a general count of how many I should expect).

Option A Rules: Rules that apply ONLY to Option A – Rewriting a Previous Chapter

1. You MUST name the story the same title of the chapter you are rewriting (for example: "Karry's Third Anniversary – Astra's Wish").

2. It must use the same themes as the chosen chapter (for example, "Kara's Secret" must be about Kara revealing her secret to Barry, "The Great Sickness" needs to be Kara taking care of a sick Iris and Barry, "Turning Point" must deal with Alex getting sober and joining the DEO, etc.… I think you get it).

3. While you can reuse some of my lines, it cannot be a carbon copy of what's been written. I will know, and you will be disqualified if you just copy and paste my work – I will even ask you to delete your entry as it would be my work, not yours your posting.

4. This might not need saying, but my original chapter will remain the official one. Yours is what could have been.

5. If you're confused by any of the above rules, please PM me (or even my beta, Captain Sigma) so I can clear it up for you.

Option B Rules: Rules that apply ONLY to Option B – Writing Your Own Chapter

1. You must be exact as to what two chapters it's set between (you can just name the two chapters in an authors' note at the top, e.g. "This chapter takes place between Chapter 7, The Last Kryptonians and Chapter 8, A Very Karry Summer" – during early Karry there is a lot of times jumps, so you have more than enough leverage to include your chapter).

2. This is meant to be a story that could have happened in Karry that I simply did not write, so you must think of the timeline (for example, Alex suddenly being sober before her turning point in "Turning Point", Barry knowing Kara is Kryptonian before she revealed herself in "Kara's Secret", or Barry having his powers before the accelerator explosion in "The Making of a Hero"… those sort of things are not allowed). I do realize you might not have a perfect memory of early Karry, so little mistakes are fine but major things like the above should be easy to figure out.

3. You cannot introduce characters who are not supposed to be in Karry Universe at that point (such as Team Arrow before Barry meets them in "The Making of a Hero" or any Green Lanterns as they came in later to the story) – I do realize I said this in general rules but thought it was a good idea to restate here.

4. While there is no guarantee it will ever be official Karry Universe, if you write something I really like there's a chance I could put an off-handed reference to it in a later Karry chapter to make it canon.

5. Again, if you're confused by any of the above rules, please PM me (or my beta, Captain Sigma) so I can clear this up for you.

As mentioned in the General Rules, there are sort-of two exceptions to the above rules.

First exception: It needs not saying, but if you want an exception from General Rule number 3 (that your chapter must take place in the first 45 chapters) you must Pitch Me Your Idea. Here's how it works:

Review/PM me (here or on Facebook) telling me you're pitching an idea to include in later Karry-

Then tell me when in the story you want to write for (if Option A, the chapter you want to rewrite, or Option B, the two chapters it will be in between) and tell me why you need the exception – why is it that you want to rewrite that chapter / why your chapter needs to be in later Karry? Then you can be granted an exception if I like your pitch.

Be warned though, I will only grant one exception per person, so if you want to do both Option A and B in later Karry, you can only get an exception for one and if you change your mind you cannot get another exception, so be 100% sure before you ask me.

The second exception is regarding something I'm aware of in early Karry – being able to rewrite a certain point of early Karry for Option A; namely "Gathering the Team" and "Swan Song" (the Reverse Flash defeat two-parter). If you want to rewrite this, you can rewrite both and you DO NOT need to PM me to ask to rewrite both – and if you do redo these, it needs to be ONE CHAPTER for you, not two like mine.

So, I expect you need to re-read these rules a few times, but I hope this excites everyone wanting to be involved first-hand in Karry Universe, and I hope to see a lot of Karry love. I also hope that giving you FOUR MONTHS to plan and write is more than enough time compared to other Karry challenges myself and my beta have recently done.
