I shouldn't be posting this today, but for some reason I felt like it, so here it is.
The girl in this story was inspired by a friend of mine and I hope she likes it because I really wanted to write this well because Kise is her favorite, but I gave it a personal Kpop touch. Please don't fight me!
Oh, I forgot to explain some things in the previous chapter: each girl is an original character of mine. The one in the first chapter was called Botan Akiyama, the one in this chapter is called Sana Masaki.
I wrote each chapter with a song in mind. The one in Midorima's chapter was "Agora Hills" - Doja Cat, Kise chapter song is "Tek it" - Cafuné, and "Angel Eyes' - NCT 127. You can listen to the songs while reading.
The last chapter will be Aomine (my favorite Miracle) and it will be a continuation of a previous fanfic of mine that is already published here (The Proposal), so I suggest you read it to understand better.

Rent-A-Girlfriend
(Ryōta Kise)
- Thank you, thank you very much, oh did you write a letter too? How thoughtful...
I spoke repeatedly, but it seemed like it wasn't enough. My hands were already full of perfumed confession letters and gifts.
- I can't hold anything else, sorry, but thank you.
I tried to break away from the group of girls without seeming rude, but I had to walk quickly to get away from them for a bit.
- I think Sanacchi has already gone without me - I sighed tiredly when I found myself alone at our meeting point, far enough from the school, close to a more isolated bus stop.
I didn't think I would be so popular at Kaijō High to the point where Sana would prefer to hide that she was my friend, but what could I do?
- Being popular shouldn't be a crime! - I sighed again. At least I could eat some of the chocolate I had gotten before the basketball practice season officially started.
It would be my first year at a new school without my old friends, although I don't know if I could still call them friends since we hadn't spoken since we graduated. Anyway, here there would be no Aominecchi or Kurokocchi, I would be alone. Well, at least there was Sanacchi.
I ended up changing my mind and went straight to Sana's house, after all I was the one who had the idea of going home together and I was the one who was late. I think I could share some of the chocolate I got with her, that way she wouldn't threaten to kill me.
We were neighbors since we were kids and sometimes I could see if Sana was still awake through my bedroom window so I could annoy her until I fell asleep.
- Hello Mrs. Masaki - I said upon entering the house. The door was rarely locked and I was used to coming here and being greeted with the good aroma of freshly baked food - has Sanacchi arrived yet?
- Kise! I thought you wouldn't come today. Sana is in her room as always.
I smiled at Mrs. Masaki as I headed up the stairs. Sana's younger brother was lying on the living room sofa, watching television. They had the same sly smile when they were really focused on something.
- You're dead! - He pointed at me – She's angry!
- But it wasn't my fault! - I replied, and then threw a package of chocolates at him as a small treat.
Sana's house was a little smaller than mine, but I liked the cozy and warm look it had with lots of family photos on the walls and cute cushion covers. I always admired the photos as I walked up the stairs because they were different from the photos people usually took of me.
It wasn't difficult to figure out which door belonged to Sana's, as there was a huge poster of NCT 357, a Korean idol group, hanging on her door. She had become a fan of idol pop music while I got too busy at Teikō and I would always blame myself for that.
- I'm coming in, please be dressed!
I was greeted with a pillow being thrown at my face, but it didn't take me long to fight back and for that I had to drop the chocolates on the floor. I was stupid to grab the smallest pillow Sana had on the bed, so I couldn't properly defend myself from her precise attacks. I think there really were advantages to being short, but soon Sana and I were holding our stomachs from laughing.
Sana was still in her uniform, her long hair was a little messy from dancing, and the blonde dye she had used on vacation hadn't completely come out yet, so the wavy ends were still yellow.
- Why did you come in now? - She said, throwing herself on the bed and pointing at the television - I was almost breaking your record, look!
- What? Serious? - I lay down next to her to better see the television score and also because I was tired of being hit with a pillow with a singer's face.
My record was 12,000 points, but I had stopped Sana when she had reached 10,000 points. Dance Dance Revolution was a very famous dance game and we always competed to see who could get the most points. It wasn't my fault if I learned quickly.
- Then I will have to work hard again! - I pretended to complain just to make her angry.
- You should really let me win sometimes - Sana hit me as she spoke, but her blows were so weak that I barely felt anything - it's not gentlemanly at all.
- My fans wouldn't think so - I said.
Luckily I had managed to keep the fan letters' in my backpack, so they were safe, so I collected the chocolates and handed some to Sana.
- For you, Sanacchi, I'm sorry for being late.
- It's fine - she replied, from her expression it didn't seem fine, but she ate the chocolates anyway.
When we were at Teikō and I started to stand out too much we stopped walking through the halls together because the girls started to give Sana very angry looks, and soon my basketball group became my friend group and Sana and I were a separate duo. It was different from Aomine and Momoi, as she was also part of the group and was related to basketball, but after I found out that Sana was also coming to Kaijō High I promised that things would go back to the way they were.
But of course she didn't want to, not after the big reception they gave me on the first day and the letters and gifts I still received almost every day.
- Soon all this will stop - I said because I imagined what was going on in her head - they will get used to me.
- You said that last week - Sana chewed and spoke furiously. There were more posters of NCT 357 on the walls and she was chewing while looking at them, and I couldn't tell if it was a good or a bad thing. - and at orientation week.
- Well... - I hesitated, I really had no explanation to give so I patted the top of her head. I had grown a lot in the last few months and Sana now looked very small, like an angry mushroom.
Of course she hated it when I did that and always hit me, but in a way that we ended up laughing and getting close again. But this time she just turned her body away from me.
Sana didn't like being in the spotlight, but she liked holding the camera for me, so I think it was the first time I saw her disappointed and I didn't like how it made me feel at all.
- Have you met your teammates yet? Are they nice?
She changed the subject quickly so I couldn't apologize again, so I went with the flow.
- Yes, they are nice, they are very different.
- Really? - This time she looked at me a little surprised. I think she was afraid that I would find the same environment as Teikō - That's a relief.
Suddenly I had an idea.
- I know! I know what would make you happy now!
Sana rolled her eyes, she never liked my ideas.
- Please don't!
- What if I called Midorimacchi and asked him to take you on a date?
Sana covered her ears and shook her head repeatedly. She didn't even care about the chocolates that were still scattered on her bed, she got up and walked in circles around the room while I followed her closely.
- What? I thought you had a crush on him!
- I said he was cute two years ago and you never let me forget, please don't embarrass me, Ryōta!
We heard Mrs. Masaki call us to dinner. Sana went ahead, still covering her ears.
- Ugh, you're so weird - I said while collecting the empty chocolate packets, but somehow I was still smiling.
It felt good to have a normal friend.
I ate just enough at Sana's house to not upset her mother, since I had promised to have dinner at home every day before basketball practice started and my sisters were excited to have me around a little longer.
- I'll wait for you again tomorrow, don't keep me waiting, okay Ryōta?
- Okay, and I promise not to say anything to Midorimacchi.
- Oh my God, why do you keep talking about this out loud...!
Sana closed the door without saying goodbye and I continued smiling as walked through her garden to get to my house. I knew her comment about Midorima wasn't a true feeling, I just wanted to mess with her head a little.
It was already getting dark and for some reason it was getting colder than usual, I don't know why, but I started to have a strange feeling of being watched from afar, but it was only when I reached the door of my house that I finally heard the sound of a sharp, short clicking noise.
I would recognize the sound of a camera from anywhere, but I was surprised to hear one here as I was walking into the house. I looked around me to try to identify the person who was doing this, but there weren't many people on the street. Nobody weird or holding a huge camera.
I unlocked the door and went in quickly, before the noise started again.
Later, before going to bed, I was still thinking about the camera noise I had heard, and it wasn't letting me sleep. I decided to look out the window, so I pulled back the curtain just enough to get a view of the street. It was late and everyone must have been asleep, but I could have sworn I saw a strange figure on the corner, whose large camera lens was reflected by the streetlight.
I couldn't stay calm, I pulled the curtain completely back and let the strange figure see me, but he or she ended up running away and blending into the darkness.
- Sanacchi! - I threw a small pebble at her window – Sanacchi!
She wasn't sleeping either, as I could see the lamp light shining through her window.
- What do you want? - Sana opened the window so quickly that I almost hit a small pebble on her.
- Are these the pebbles we picked up together when we visited the Niyodo River?
- I'll collect them in the morning, but that's not important now, look!
I pointed to where the scary shadow had been a minute ago, but from the position of Sana's window it was difficult for her to have a good view.
- What? I can't see anything from here.
- There was someone there with a camera, I swear!
- A camera? - Sana tried to sneak out of the window, but she would end up falling, so I stretched my arm to force her back inside.
- Do I finally have a stalker?
- This is nothing to be proud of! - Sana replied. Her hair was tied up for bed and she was wearing pajamas full of cat paws - Anyway, we better go to sleep now, we have student leveling day tomorrow.
- But I can't sleep... - I reached out again, this time Sana held my hand. I couldn't quite hear what she said before.
- See you tomorrow, Ryōta.
She went back inside and closed the window, leaving me alone. I still kept the window open for a while, hoping that she would feel sorry for me and come back, which she didn't, so I fell asleep.
I think someone at Kaijō warned me about student leveling day, but I must have forgotten, or I just started hearing the wind. Anyway, I was bad, but not as bad as I always was, I was just terrible.
Kaijō High assigned students to classes according to their grades and of course Sana and I wouldn't be in the same class like that since she was a good student.
We came to school together that day but we followed different paths before we reach the main gate, but after I got my first report card I wanted to talk to someone who could comfort me and I saw Sana in the hallway talking to a group of friends.
I was happy that Sana had made friends so quickly at that school, but I wanted to be a part of them. It was annoying having to watch everything from afar, although perhaps she had felt that way before.
She would kill me if I approached her while so many people were around, so I decided to kill time in my locker in the meantime. As soon as I opened the locker, an envelope fell out. It wasn't addressed, nor was it perfumed, but when I opened it, I saw the photos they took of me last night.
- So I finally have a stalker - I whispered - interesting.
When I looked back at Sana, we made eye contact, she couldn't ignore me now, so I grabbed my report card and the envelope and ran towards her before a group of girls approached with more gifts.
- Sanacchi!
The sound of my voice must have scared Sana, as she hadn't expected me to speak to her so casually in front of everyone, but I didn't care anymore. I put my arms around her shoulders and placed my head on her neck, as if she were my support, which she was.
Sana's friends were petrified by my presence since we never exchanged words in the classroom. Sana, on the other hand, only looked a little frustrated, but she soon seemed to accept her fate.
- Sannachi! - I repeated, this time more dramatically - I had a horrible test, a horrible result…!
Sana gestured something to her friends. They still watched the scene in silence.
- Look at my grades, it looks like I got even worse!
- Of course it got worse - Sana took my report card, she shook her head in disgust - you don't study, you deserve an earthworm pie as a reward.
I shook my whole body trying to get rid of that thought. I hated earthworms.
- Oh - I pointed to the group that had now moved away from Sana - you all have NCT 357 photocards, how cool!
The girls smiled, but Sana pushed me a little even though I wasn't kidding. I really thought it was cool. What if one day girls walked around with photocards of me?
The group of girls who were approaching me while I was at my locker continued to watch us from afar, so Sana's friends soon said goodbye and walked away giggling and jumping. They would probably have something to talk about throughout the rest of the day.
For a moment I thought Sana was going to give me an epic lecture about how I "didn't know how to respect her boundaries," but she just looked at me and smiled with her brown rabbit eyes.
- Your sisters will be disappointed with these grades - she gave me back my report card.
- I know - I replied - but what can I do? I hate studying.
- You could try a little harder, you know, it wouldn't hurt if you followed my plan...
I think Sana started to say something about her personal study plan, but I started to get distracted by looking at the blue sky and listening to the sound of the wind that cut into my ears.
- Kise? Kise! - Sana flicked my ear, just to make me come back to reality. I could hear the the reactions of the girls who were still watching us.
- Sorry, the sky was very beautiful for a while - I smiled, usually that solved everything - now that I spoke to you in public we no longer need to hide that we are friends, do we?
- Probably not - Sana looked around, a large group of my admirers had formed near where we were, most of them holding cell phones. I thought Sana was uncomfortable for a second, so I poked her shoulder to get her to look back at me.
- I wish I had gotten good grades so we could stay in the same class the whole year - I said - I'm sorry.
- It's okay, I would be more worried if you had studied.
She looked at my hands, at the envelope I was still holding.
- And what is this?
- Oh, just an envelope full of photos of me that were taken last night. I told you there was someone watching me.
- What?! - Sana snatched the envelope from my hands and started looking at each of the photos. She looked genuinely scared, which was cute but unnecessary. I wouldn't be the first celebrity to have a stalker.
- You're not in the photos - I said, because I knew that was what scared her too - he or she couldn't see you.
- That's not what I'm looking for - Sana sighed, she looked at me for a moment, her eyes full of concern. I think I underestimated how much she cared about me.
- It's okay, Sanacchi - I tried to grab her hair, but the moment the group of girls who were still watching us started to squeak loudly, Sana moved away from me.
There was a girl who didn't show any reaction, I saw it out of the corner of my eye, she was far away from the group and I could barely see her face because of the hood she was wearing despite the heat.
- See you later, okay? – Sana said - I'm going to break your record on Dance Dance Revolution.
Sana didn't talk about the stalker again but I finally managed to talk to her at school every day, but still not as much as I would have liked since she refused to walk beside me all the time. I still heard the sounds of the camera following me when I went home by myself and sometimes when my sisters told me to take out the trash. Sometimes the noise was so continuous that I almost got dizzy trying to look for where it was coming from.
The stalker didn't take photos of me when I was with Sana, there was no sharp, clicking noise when I was with her, which brought me great relief.
- You owe me tickets to their concert. - Sana told me after we left an arcade that we sometimes played after school. They had a big Dance Dance Revolution machine there.
I had a photoshoot today and she was going to accompany me to the session because she had a CD store to visit nearby.
- What concert? - I asked, I was really in the dark, I didn't remember having promised her anything.
- The NCT 357 concert! - She took a leaflet about the concert out of her pocket and I couldn't tell if she had prepared it beforehand or if it was completely random - Do you know how many questions I have to answer about you every day?
- And this isn't a good thing? Am I not your favorite person? It shouldn't be difficult to talk about me.
Sana sighed, she had straightened her hair today and for some reason we were matching ear accessories and our uniform ties were loose. She always laughed at me because I couldn't get my right ear pierced.
- The store is on that side - she pointed to a narrow and bright alley - I'll see you later.
Sana used to walk without paying attention to her surroundings, but I noticed a guy on a bike coming towards her fast, so I managed to catch her before the bike. As she was short, she didn't come close to my chest, so she couldn't feel my heart beating fast, but I could feel hers speeding up.
I loosened my hug at the same moment Sana took a step back, looking scared.
- See you later, Sanacchi.
The photoshoot was great, I never worried about it, I was always ready and relaxed. The staff prepared some donuts and I took some to give to Sana, maybe that way she would be a little happier and maybe it would be a good way to break down whatever happened on the street.
Seeing so much food reminded me of Murasakibaracchi, but I couldn't talk to him now. He didn't even live near us anymore.
I had texted Sana and told her I was already done with the session and she texted me back saying she was on her way, so I stood in the same place she left me, waiting.
The street was lively and full of people so I didn't even notice when a girl shorter than me, wearing a hoodie jacket, stood next to me.
- Who lives in that house? - she spoke so directly that I didn't even realize at first that she was talking to me.
- What? - was my first reaction.
- You look in that direction a lot before going to sleep.
- I... Do I look? - I couldn't see that person's face, but I had a feeling I shouldn't be talking to her.
- You don't have a girlfriend, do you, Kise?
I don't know why I was overcome by a strange feeling, it was as if all my body's alerts were switched on, as if I were in the web of a huge spider. That girl, yes, it was a girl... Why was she asking me those things?
Before I could form a sentence about what was happening the girl left my side and blended into the crowd. In less than a minute Sana appeared, smiling, as she had found the CD she wanted, but her expression soon changed when she saw the terror on my face.
- Who was she? - Sana asked me, but I didn't know how to answer that question.
We had come to an ice cream shop, as Sana liked to listen to things while eating. In fact she was happy when I showed her the donuts I had brought with me and we didn't have to talk about the hug from earlier.
- I have no idea who she was and you know I remember all the girls…
- It must be another one like that girl that went out with Haizaki, do you remember? - Sana made funny a face - She didn't like me...
- Not this time - I replied, I was really focused on this now - that girl just wanted to be popular, but this one...
I snapped my fingers. Finally I knew.
- She is completely in love with me - I understood - my shine is so great that she can't see anything else!
- And to resolve this you should be honest with her - Sana recommended – tell her that you are not a product, that you are a real person with real feelings.
- I need a girlfriend!
- What?
- If I have a girlfriend she will stop chasing me! All the girls will stop! Then I can have a normal school life!
Sana looked genuinely shocked, which was almost funny if the situation wasn't so serious.
- Oh, really? And who will be the crazy one who will accept something like this?
I looked at Sana for two seconds. We didn't need words to understand each other.
- Are you insinuating that...
- Yes.
- No!
- Sanacchi! I need help! You are the perfect person for this!
- Why? Why am I the perfect person? Because you would never fall in love with me?
Sana was silent for a moment and I didn't want to insist either, I didn't want to hurt her feelings, nor did I want to lose her.
- You think the person is from school, is that it? Is that why you need me, right?
I nodded, I joked a lot with Sana, but this time she realized I was serious.
- I want the NCT 357 tickets - she showed me the leaflet again after some time, we had just left the ice cream shop - if you give me the tickets I will be your rental girlfriend for a while.
- Really? - I smiled, and when I smiled, Sana smiled back - Would you really do that for me, Sanacchi?
- Yes, the tickets will go on sale in two weeks, so let's get this sorted out soon!
- I can't believe we're actually doing this - Sana said as soon as we saw the school gate the next day - it was strange not having to say goodbye to you.
- I know, it's better.
She was still a little away from me, that wasn't right. I took Sana's bag and held it on the other shoulder, then made her stop and checked her makeup. She always looked beautiful, but she had made an extra effort today. We also decided to wear the same moon shape earrings.
- Your tie is too loose - Sana said, using her fingers to straighten it.
It wasn't planned, but as we were close to the gate, many groups of students passed by and ended up staring at us. It wouldn't be difficult for everyone to know by the end of the day.
- There it is - Sana said - you look beautiful, Ryōta.
- I know - I replied with a smile, Sana seemed to get angry and was ready to push me, but then she realized that she couldn't do that anymore, so, to make it look like we were playing like a couple. I grabbed her hands and filled with kisses.
Sana's face turned red, but I pretended not to notice. For some reason I was a little too happy that she reacted that way and I knew her heart must be beating as fast as mine.
- You need to walk close to me, understand?
- Yes sir.
We entered the school and the reactions increased, I kept smiling, and every time I felt that Sana was uncomfortable I held her hand tighter. It was strange how our hands fit so well together.
- Now - I whispered before we arrived in front of my classroom.
We had something prepared since if the stalker put the envelope with the photos in my locker she could only study at Kaijō High, so we needed to do it right.
Sana nodded and soon her appearance transformed. Her air of discomfort disappeared and was replaced by a vibrant smile and she cupped my face with both hands.
- Have a good day, Kisecchi!
She stood on tiptoe and kissed me on the cheek. It wasn't agreed and I wasn't prepared, so I remained still after Sana took her bag back and ran towards her room. My classmates passed by me, but I couldn't see or hear them properly, for soon all my senses were drowned out by the beating of my heart which became loud and quick.
That wasn't my first kiss, but it was the first kiss Sana gave me.
For some reason, I started to smile.
It wasn't long before I started receiving angry letters in the days that followed. The stalker was angry with me, but at least she didn't follow me home again. Sana was fulfilling her role well, we arrived together, had lunch together and she accompanied me to my first basketball practice and would continue accompanying me if the team captain, Kasamatsu, hadn't banned the presence of girls on the court.
Being with Sana all the time in everyone's sight was fun, it was like the old days, only this time I found myself dreaming about her sometimes and waking up sweaty and panting, desperate to talk to her through the window, but needing to wait for the dawn to do it.
When this happened I would sit on the chair and watch Sana's window hoping she was awake, but the lights were always off. She really took school more seriously than I did.
That wasn't the action of a person who was fake dating, was it? I don't think a fake boyfriend would spend hours staring at his fake girlfriend's window waiting for her to wake up.
I wanted to talk to someone about this, but I think only Kurokocchi would understand me.
Sana didn't kiss me again after that time, and I was almost asking her for another one.
The day before the ticket sale for the NCT 357 concert started I started to feel sick, so Sana accompanied me to a photoshoot. She had dressed extra pretty that day, with a plaid skirt and jacket set and a military-style beret along with long socks, she had redone her hair color and was now blonde like me.
- That's so cool! - Sana said to me at each break in the session. She was loving looking at the photography, filming and makeup equipment.
That was another photoshoot for Zunon Boy and I also had to do an interview. I was already familiar with the staff, but today there were some new people with them.
- They want a photo of us together.
- What?
Sana looked at the photographer, he had indeed asked for this and I must have seemed more excited than usual about the idea.
- It would be a waste not to take a photo with you, come on!
I pulled Sana by the hand and then helped her fix her hair under her beret.
- How do I look? - Sana asked, a little scared by the lights. She just didn't need to look at them directly.
- You look beautiful, as always - I replied - Sanacchi, I wanted to ask...
- It's her, isn't it? - Sana interrupted me.
I almost didn't see it because of the flashes, but I saw the girl in the hood again, this time inside the studio. She must have been as young as me and should be an intern for one of the photographers or makeup artists.
She looked at Sana and me with anger, but also with great sadness. I couldn't deny that I felt sorry for her.
- She still doubts us - Sana said.
- What? How do you know?
- I'm a girl, even though you don't see me as one, Ryōta.
The light was very bright, but I knew Sana could see my smile. She couldn't have said that seriously.
- What do you mean, Sanacchi, I always saw you as a girl.
Sana shook her head. Maybe if we weren't in front of so many people, she would move away from me, so I grabbed her around the waist just to make sure she wouldn't.
- What are we? - I asked something I've never asked before. I always knew what I wanted with a girl, but with Sanacchi... My head was spinning. I didn't feel sick because of the session, I felt sick because today was the last day of our fake relationship since I would have to give her the concert tickets soon, and the feeling of having to go back to what we were before made me sick.
I needed to be honest with myself.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the stalker approaching, I wasn't sure if she had heard our talk so I held Sana's face and pulled her towards me quickly, afraid that she would move away, bringing our lips together for the first time, not caring if our first real kiss would be forever recorded in a magazine.
When the photo shoot ended, the stalker had already left and I had a feeling that she wouldn't bother me again.
Sana had stopped talking, but not smiling, especially when she looked at me, and it felt good, so good that I would trade all the photo shoots in the world for it, but it wouldn't be necessary. Sana liked to see me shine.
- Here - I took an envelope from the inside pocket of my coat and handed it to her.
I had been saving this for a few days, afraid that if I gave it to Sana she would end up undoing our agreement.
- The tickets for NCT 357! - Sana screamed when she saw the content of the envelope and almost dropped the tickets on the floor.
I let Sana scream and jump as much as she wanted, I liked seeing her like that, happy.
- But how... Since when? Sales haven't even started yet!
- I know a photographer who has worked with them and won some tickets.
Sana's brown eyes were shining, she was smiling, but her eyes soon became teary, so she hugged me tightly, as if the moon was about to hit the Earth and we couldn't be separated in the meantime.
And we could not be separated.
I couldn't hear the wind anymore.
I was really into her.
That was Kise's chapter! I really hope you guys had fun with this, because I did!
I'm writing the stories according to my personal taste of Miracles, so the next story should be Akashi's, but for plot reasons it will be Murasakibara with "Second Chance".
See ya!
