Author's note : Hi ! :) I have been reading fanfiction here for so many years now, it feels surreal to be publishing something of my own! I recently re-read the Twilight Saga books, something I haven't done since I was about 13. Reading them again as an adult, I found out I still loved the creative universe Stephanie Meyers has created, but personally resonated less with the Mormon undertones of the book. This is my interpretation of what would have happened if Bella and the Cullens had left when Bella got pregnant: I like the idea of Renesmee and Jacob meeting for the first time as adults when they both had time to grow individually. Canonically, this story would be set in 2018, 12 years after Breaking Dawn.
I really hope you like it !
Jacob's POV
All imprints automatically have the right to enter Quileute territory, no matter their blood right. While me and Sam were hesitant, it didn't help that senior members of the council like Sue and my father were now quite fond of Renesmee. Betrayed by my own father! Alongside Seth, they had met her at a dinner party at Charlie's, one I had refused to go to. The pull of imprinting might be strong, but my stubbornness was notoriously stronger. However, Given the new development, the tribe council had decided to convoque Renesmee for a sort of meeting, to question her about the hybrid species. She had graciously accepted, and this is where I was relanclutely heading now.
Even before stepping into the small clearing atop the cliff, the designated spot for council meetings, I could feel her presence. She was already there. Despite my determined resolve to dislike her, I couldn't help but notice how truly stunning she was. Bathed in the glow of the bonfire, the flames played on her face, highlighting the grace of her high cheekbones and the subtle freckles on her cheeks. The wind gently tousled the brown reddish curls cascading down her back. Engaged in conversation with Seth, each smile she cast sent an inexplicable twist to my stomach. She was mesmerizing. Fucking hell.
She must have felt me looking at her and stared at me back, intrigued. Frowning, I quickly moved to the seat furthest away from her and forced myself to stare at the fire instead.
My father opened the meeting and spoke in that special tone he used only at the council.
" I would like to thank you all for attending this council meeting. We are confronted today with a new creature, one that our legends could have never fathomed. For the safety of the tribe, it was decided we should learn as much as possible about this hybrid and her species. Knowledge is the sacred currency of power, and in our pursuit, we must delve into the arcane to comprehend our newfound adversary."
Despite her slight frown at the mention of the word "adversary," she spoke with a clear voice, showing no signs of intimidation. Amid a large group of strangers, she exuded a confidence that was miles away from how I remembered Bella.
"I'm Renesmee Carlie Cullen. I came into this world 12 years ago, on September 11th, 2006. My growth was insanely fast, and I hit maturity 5 years back."
"And you haven't aged a day since?"
"No. Like werewolves, my body can pull off quick changes, like growing my hair or healing a wound. However, major transformations, like a complete cell generation that would let me age, take 7 years in human time, which my body can't do."
The girl was clearly pretty smart, and I had a feeling a lot of the werewolves were drowning in the science talk. However, the mention of her "real" age didn't slip past Quil, who playfully elbowed me in the ribs. He'd imprinted on his imprint, Claire, when she was just 4 years old. Now that she was 16, they'd recently started dating. Considering the shit I'd given him in the past for imprinting on a child, I figured karma was finally catching up.
Renesmee POV
The rest of the evening unfolded similarly. I fielded questions from the tribe elders, offering responses to each inquiry. As the meeting concluded, it became apparent that they had warmed up to me. It's a typical scenario for me—I'd like to think I'm pretty charming. However, one person around the circle remained stone-faced. I'd learned his name was Jacob, the pack's alpha. Eventually, he would succeed his dad Billy as the tribal leader. My mom had briefly mentioned him in my childhood, describing him as a cool guy with a sunny personality. Not sure where the hell that sunny personality was today, as he spent the entire meeting glaring at me. What was his problem? It bothered me more than I'd care to admit. I was not used to people disliking me.
Talking about Jacob, my mom had also failed to mention that he was by far the most attractive man I had ever seen in my 12 years of living. And that is saying a lot, considering I grew up surrounded by virtually flawless vampires! As much as I tried, he was hard to ignore. His tan skin tone was nothing short of beautiful, accentuating a well-defined jawline, and his mid-length black hair framed the side of his face quite nicely. I'm sure I would have found his eyes to be beautiful as well if he hadn't been rudely glaring at me the entire night.
As the night ended, I thanked Billy, Sue, and Sam for having me and started to leave.
"Renesmee!" Called out Seth, following me down the cliff.
I smiled at him.
"A few people from the pack, we are having beers at this bar in Port Angeles on Friday. It's about an hour's drive, my sister works at the bank there. You should totally come"
"Oh, I would love that !"
"Great, I'll text you the address. My fiance is excited to meet you"
I exchanged numbers with Seth, and we then went our separate ways. As I strolled away from the cliff, the evening replayed in my thoughts. The tribe's acceptance was unexpectedly warm, their curiosity about my hybrid nature overshadowing any initial reservations. Yet, one person seemed determined to dislike me —Jacob. What was behind his hostility? I pondered this as I got into bed. On the brighter side, I looked forward to a night out with Seth and the pack.
