Summary: Jamie goes to Leopold's niece's birthday.

Prince Jamie and Lord Leopold walked out of the Pastel Palace, placing down their papers. Leopold's butler Bart groaned, lugging some boxes behind them.

"Thanks for the help, Leopold," Jamie grinned at his friend.

"Of course," Leopold nodded, turning away. "I'll see you soon."

"See ya!" Jamie waved.

Leopold gasped. "Oh, one more thing."

He dug into his pockets, pulling out an invitation. He handed it to Jamie.

Jamie stared over the invitation. It was pink, with argyle patterns all over it.

"What's this?" Jamie asked.

"It's an invitation for my niece's 6th birthday party," Leopold informed him. He scowled. "She absolutely insisted that I invite you."

Jamie gasped. "You're an uncle?!"

Leopold nodded. "I've been one for nearly 6 years."

Jamie gazed over the invitation once more.

You have been invited to Lady Everleigh's 6th Birthday!

"It's next weekend, at the Argyle Palace," Leopold continued. "There will - unfortunately - be lots of pink, sugary sweets, so… exactly your demographic."

"Sounds fun," Jamie nodded. "I'll be there!"

"I knew you couldn't resist the temptation," Leopold sighed. "If not for my niece's insistence, I would have not allowed you to attend!"

Jamie smiled. "I'm looking forward to meeting her."

A week later, Jamie arrived at the Argyle Palace, dressed in his baby-pink suit. It was a fairly large palace, around the same size as the Plaid Palace, if not bigger. The front garden was full of strange sculptures and paintings. The front had been decorated with a bunch of pink streamers, all covered in argyle patterns, of course. Music was blasting from inside.

Jamie walked to the entrance; some argyle guards were standing in front. Once Jamie showed them his invitation, they let him inside the palace.

The indoor was a large hall full of more paintings and sculptures, as well as tons of sparkly decorations. A huge table was in the center, covered in party food. Party hats were sitting on the chairs, as well as a massive pile of presents. A huge banner was on the wall, reading HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY EVERLEIGH!

Tons of kids were running around, streamers trailing behind them. Adults were standing in the corner, all wearing party hats.

"Jamie!" Leopold walked over to Jamie, Bart trailing behind. "You've arrived!"

Leopold was wearing a black suit and a pink party hat, covering an argyle sweater.

"Heya," Jamie waved. "Nice hat."

"Yes, it really reminds of you," Leopold sighed.

"Where's your niece?" Jamie looked around.

"Right there," Leopold pointed to the young girl in the middle of all the children.

Like Leopold, she had olive skin, although it was slightly darker, and black hair, which was tied into little braids. She was wearing a frilly pink dress and a makeshift party crown. Her eyes were a bright blue.

"Aw, she looks like you," Jamie grinned.

The young girl gasped, running over to Leopold and Jamie.

"Uncle Leo!" she shouted. "Is this Jamie?!"

"Yes," Leopold sighed. "Everleigh, meet Prince Jamie."

"It's nice to meet you," Jamie waved.

"Wow…" Everleigh blinked up at him. "Uncle Leo was right! You're so sparkly!" She gasped. "Hey! Where's your party hat?!"

Leopold grabbed one from the table, handing it to Jamie. The prince placed it on.

"Perfect!" Everleigh clapped.

"Oh yeah," Jamie got out a wrapped present. "My sister Gwen made this as a gift for you! She would've come, but Dad is still, well… a bit iffy about letting my sisters go out."

"Present!" Everleigh grinned, snatching the gift.

"We must wait until later for the presents, Everleigh," Leopold said, handing the gift to Bart. The butler took it over to the pile with the other gifts.

Everleigh rolled her eyes. "So boring! I wanna open them now!"

"You have to wait," Leopold told her. "That's what your mother said."

Everleigh grumbled, kicking the ground.

"Hey hey hey!" a voice called. "How's it going, party people?"

The voice belonged to Prince Griffin of the Argyle Kingdom. He was fairly tall and burly, with the same hair and skin colour as Leopold. His hair was styled in a quiff, wearing an argyle sweater. Like everyone else, a pink party hat was on his head.

"Griffin," Leopold greeted him.

"Hey, cuz," Griffin grinned at his cousin. He turned to Jamie. "Hey, this must be Jamie! Great to properly meet you."

He firmly shook Jamie's hand.

"Same to you!" Jamie smiled.

"Leopold's always talking 'bout you," Griffin chuckled. "That festival was a hit! I would've said hi, but Blainey sidetracked me. Haha!"

"Ahem," Leopold coughed. "Yes. Thank you, Griffin."

"Griffin!" Everleigh shouted.

"Hey, kiddo," Griffin greeted, giving her a high-five. "How ya doin'?"

"Those look good," Jamie headed over to the food table, eyeing the treats.

"Don't take too many," Leopold warned, following him.

Jamie sighed, taking handfuls of cookies. They were tasty, but definitely not as good as Gwen's. For some reason, the chef had a phobia of musical chairs.

Leopold scowled, crossing his arms.

"It's a party," Jamie told him. "A few cookies won't hurt!"

"Jamie," Leopold warned. He groaned. "I'll be getting you some vegetables."

He took off. Jamie sighed, taking some more cupcakes.

"Jamie, did you say?"

The voice belonged to a woman in a long dress, of course with argyle patterns. A large sunhat shadowed her face.

"Yes?" Jamie faced her.

"Hmmm," the woman adjusted her hat. "You're the opposite of his usual tastes. What does he see in you?"

Jamie stared at her. "You mean Leopold? Well, it's simple. We just get on well."

The woman chuckled. "You're a funny one."

She took a cupcake before walking away. Leopold returned, holding a salad bowl.

"Here," he told Jamie. "Eat plenty of this!"

Jamie rolled his eyes. He gazed at where the woman had walked off to, before turning back to Leopold.

The kids were sitting on their chairs, music blaring above. Everleigh was in front, fairy floss in hand.

"I win again!" Everleigh cheered, the other kids groaning.

"Well done, sweetie!" a man clapped. "Are you ready for your cake?"

The man was somewhat tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He picked up his daughter, who doused him in pink confetti.

"My lovely brother-in-law," Leopold grumbled, crossing his arms.

Jamie watched as all the kids raced over to the table.

"What cake did she get?" Jamie asked.

"Typical birthday cake," Leopold huffed. "Funfetti, something of the like. I really did try to suggest something not so… sugary, but she was not swayed."

"We have a lot in common," Jamie chuckled.

"Unfortunately so," Leopold groaned.

"Come on, come on!" Everleigh's father clapped his hands, stirring up all the kids.

A middle-aged couple - Leopold's parents - sat at the table. Griffin was up by the other end, chewing on a lollipop. He waved at Jamie.

"I suppose we'd better get this over with," Leopold sighed, sitting next to Jamie.

"Uncle Leo!" Everleigh ran over.

"Yes?" Leopold asked, eyeing his niece.

"Can you paint me a pink sheep?!" Everleigh asked, eyes wide. "With lots of glitter?! Like Jamie?!"

Leopold tilted his head. "I've already done a painting for you, Everleigh…"

"Please?!" Everleigh grabbed onto his leg, lip quivering.

"Oh, very well," Leopold sighed. "I'll do it after we have the cake."

"Yayyy!" Everleigh grinned, sitting at the head of the table.

The woman from before, alongside Everleigh's father, sat beside her.

"Aw, you're a good uncle," Jamie chuckled.

"I cannot say no to her," Leopold huffed. "My sister will get upset."

He eyed the woman with the hat, who simply stared right back.

"How much pink stuff have you painted for Everleigh?" Jamie asked.

Leopold groaned. "Next question, James."

The chefs brought out the birthday cake. It was a few layers tall, covered in pink icing and sprinkles. Six candles were sticking out of the frosting.

Everyone began singing Happy Birthday. The cake was placed on the table.

"Make a wish!" Everleigh's father encouraged his daughter.

Everleigh closed her eyes, before blowing out the candles. She stared right at Jamie.

"Wanna know what I wished for?!" she asked him.

"Well, no," he winked, "because if you tell anyone, it won't come true."

Everleigh gasped, before nodding.

The cake was cut and served. Jamie bit into it, holding up his fork.

"The chef is really sick of pink," he eyed the cake.

"I wonder why," Leopold uttered.

After the cake, it was time for presents. Everleigh grinned, tearing through all the wrapping paper, which poor Bart and the other maids and butlers had to clean up.

Everleigh gasped, holding up the knitted coat Gwen had made for her. She placed it on, beaming wide.

"I hear your sister made that coat," Everleigh's mother approached Jamie.

"Indeed she did," Leopold jumped in, eyeing his sister.

"Of course you've been with your new friend all day, Leopold," the woman replied. "He's so different from what you usually strive for. The recent Argyle festival shocked me so."

"Oh, I still dislike this aesthetic, Claudia," Leopold replied, "but Jamie… is an exception."

Claudia simply smirked, walking back over to her daughter.

"She seems interesting," Jamie admitted.

"She's an art critic," Leopold told Jamie. "She's like you, but with art instead of food."

"Oh, wow," Jamie replied. "Has she ever critiqued your art?"

Leopold grimaced. "Oh yes. Many times."

"Jamie!"

Jamie gazed down at Everleigh.

"Why are you so sparkly?" she asked.

Jamie shrugged. "I was just born like that."

"Can I be sparkly too?" Everleigh's eyes widened.

Leopold coughed into his hand. "Ahh, I don't think your mother would like that very much, Everleigh."

Sure, Jamie rolled his eyes. The mother won't like it.

Everleigh grabbed her uncle's leg.

"Pink sheep time?" she questioned.

Leopold turned to Bart, wiping his brow. "Very well."

Bart grabbed all of Leopold's supplies. Leopold set up his canvas, alongside his paint supplies. He got out his pink paint.

Everleigh grabbed onto her uncle's leg, climbing onto his lap. Leopold put an arm around her, sketching out the sheep.

The other kids sat around, watching.

"Mr Artist, can you paint me a kitty cat?" a kid asked.

"Draw me a dinosaur!" another jumped in.

"What about face painting?" Claudia suggested.

All the kids began cheering. Leopold massaged his brow, glowering at his sister.

"Me first, me first!" Everleigh grabbed her uncle's arm.

Leopold was surrounded by eager children. He looked away.

"Oh, very well," he groaned. "Facepainting."

The children cheered. Leopold mumbled something, signaling Bart to grab him more paint.

"Looks like you're gonna be busy," Jamie told him.

"Children," Leopold cursed, but he was smiling.

"Jamie!"

Jamie gazed over at the young girl running towards him. He stood by the palace's exit.

"Hi, Everleigh," he kneeled down.

"Don't go yet," she sobbed. "You haven't shown me how to be sparkly!"

Jamie chuckled. "Maybe next time." He handed her some candy. "Here, have some of my emergency candy. Don't tell your uncle, though."

Everleigh giggled, running off. Leopold stormed over, head tilted.

"You weren't giving her any sugar, were you?" he asked.

"Noooo," Jamie looked away.

Leopold crossed his arms. "Irresponsible, Jamie. I should hope your sisters know how to control you when you get nieces and nephews of your own."

Jamie just laughed at that. The two walked down the stairs of the Argyle palace, the sun starting to set.

"She does like you," Leopold admitted. "Unsurprisingly. She likes pink."

"Take her to the Pastel Palace sometime," Jamie told her.

"Oh, she'll be begging me to," Leopold shook his head.

"You know you love to visit too," Jamie retorted.

He waved, walking away from Leopold, both still dressed in far too much pink.
