I know I haven't quite figured out who Rin will be within this story since she is a ranger of the North. I don't know if she should be with Legolas or with one of the dwarves. I'm sure I will figure it out soon enough. Enough of my ramblings. I hope that you guys enjoy this next chapter. Without further ado Chapter 10. ENJOY!

Chapter 10

The company rode their ponies and horses through the muddy forest as it rained. They were all cold, wet, and miserable.

Rin took a soft breath as she moved her hood closer to her face to try and keep the cold rain off of her face.

"Here, Mr. Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge?" Dori asked, rather irritated that it was raining making him rather uncomfortable.

"It is raining, Master Dwarf, and it will continue to rain until the rain is done. If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard." Gandalf said letting out a breath as they traveled.

"Are there any?" Bilbo asked, looking over at Gandalf rather curiously.

"What?" Gandalf asked, blinking a few times.

"Other wizards?"

"There are five of us. The greatest of our order is Saruman, the White. Then there are the two Blue Wizards; you know, I've quite forgotten their names."

"And who is the fifth?" Bilbo asked, blinking even more curiously.

"Well, that would be Radagast, the Brown."

"Is he a great Wizard or is he...more like you?"

Gandalf looked slightly offended at what Bilbo had questioned. "I think he's a very great wizard, in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others. He keeps a watchful eye over the vast forest lands to the East, and a good thing too, for always Evil will look to find a foothold in this world."

Rin let out a soft breath as they continued to travel.

Bilbo looked over at Rin curiously.

Rin blinked a few times and turned her head. "Yes, Master Baggins?" She questioned her voice coming out rather soft as the rain began to fall a bit harder.

"The Rangers."

"What about them?" She questioned her brows raising as she looked over at him tilting her head to the side.

"Why do they want to be alone?"

Rin took a soft breath as she thought for a moment. "It's not like we have a choice." She admitted softly biting her lower lip in thought. "Not many trust us and we honestly… we prefer to be nomads and if we do find a home… we would consider ourselves lucky."

"Wouldn't you want a home?"

"I do in a way have a home, I just don't stay there that often…" She admitted softly. "My younger brother is there right now learning and growing." She bit her lip softly as she looked forward.

"You have a younger brother?"

"Yes. He's ten years old."

"Is he waiting for you?"

Rin looked over at Bilbo and saw the curious look on his face. "I am sure that he is waiting for me. I am sure that he will be happy to see me when I return from my journey."

Bilbo nodded his head slowly. "Don't you miss him?"

"Of course I do. But he knows what life is like for a ranger." She admitted softly as she looked ahead once again. She was afraid to see her brother since she was away from this world for so long. Would he even remember her? Or would she even know who he was? She bit her lip softly. She could only hope that she and her little brother would get along.

"Sorry," Bilbo spoke up.

Rin looked over at Bilbo, her brows furrowed.

"I shouldn't have said anything," Bilbo admitted softly, his cheeks flushing in embarrassment. "I can tell that you miss your brother."

Rin gave Bilbo a sad smile. "It is alright Master Baggins." She said softly. "You wanted to know… I don't mind telling you." She admitted softly.

Bilbo gave her a small, shy, weak smile.
