It took a while for Hudson and Angela to get Brooklyn home. He was still out of it. The clan was waiting for them when they arrived. They had to get Brook to the infirmary immediately.

Dr. Sato was also called to come and help. Elisa would be there as soon as she could.

As Hudson carried Brooklyn inside, the clan couldn't believe at how the red second looked. What had happened to him? Their eyes were all in shock at his condition.

His left leg was black and in a weird shape, his right wing was misshapen, his stomach and back were bruised up good, and he had a good bruise on the side of his head. His neck also had some collar marks and the skin looked irritated. He was also extremely thin.

"What happened to him?" Broadway asked in concern.

"Some men beat him up and they were going to throw him in the East River to kill him!" Angela exclaimed.

That made him so angry, as it did the rest of the clan. "Right now, we just need to focus on getting him well again." Goliath declared. He took him from Hudson's arms.

David, Fox, and Owen also came onto the scene when they heard about it. Owen would help in the infirmary when Dr. Sato showed up.

Goliath went into the medical room to see that his second was well taken care of.

"Brooklyn sure took a good beating and starvation." Owen pointed out.

"Whoever it was that took him will pay most dearly for this." Goliath growled.

"As they should." Sato agreed. "He didn't deserve this. I need to take some x-rays of his leg and wing to see how badly broken they are. Also need to scan his head too for breaks since I see that mark on his head too."

"There could even be some injuries inside him we aren't aware of. You might need x-rays of his whole body." Owen insisted.

There was still about six hours until dawn for stone sleep to be able to help heal Brooklyn.

X-rays were taken all over Brooklyn's body. Goliath had laid him gently on the table. Sato looked at them carefully, shaking his head. It was bad.

Brooklyn's skull was fine, just bruised, but there was a broken tooth in the back. His right wing was broken on the arm. And his left leg was broken in the middle.

"Will broken bones mend with stone sleep?" Sato asked Goliath.

"They can if they are set properly. But they will take a few nights to heal completely." Goliath replied.

"If his wing isn't set right, he may never glide again." Sato warned. "And that leg is shattered. If I set it right, it should heal well. But if I don't, he may have a bad leg for life. I'll get to work on him right now. I also saw some little thing inside his stomach on the x-ray too, but I have to treat these bones first. He'll probably be fine until tomorrow night for that."

"Yes. Get the bones taken care of first." Goliath recommended.

An anesthesia tube was put into Brooklyn's lungs to keep him out while the surgeries commenced over the next few hours. The clan waited anxiously. Elisa soon showed up too.

"I got those men booked." Elisa said.

"Good. They deserve to be in jail for what they did to Brooklyn." Lexington said angrily.

"Did they tell you anything of who had him?" Hudson asked.

"They weren't talking." Elisa replied regrettably.

"As soon as Brooklyn is well enough, we'll get some answers." Hudson declared.

"How long has he been in there?" Elisa asked.

"Two hours already." Broadway replied.

The wing was folded down behind Brooklyn's shoulder into a splint. Then, Sato and Owen carefully cut into Brook's leg to assess the damage. They moved the bones back into place first, then sewed his leg up. Then they secured it with a heavy-duty brace. Stone sleep would take care of the rest on it. Those were the biggest issues for right now.

When the surgeries were over, Brooklyn was carried to a recovery room to wake up. There was no way he could walk. He was laid on his side without laying on the injured wing. His leg was laid on a pillow.

The clan was given the okay to come in and see him. Brook had to be watched right now. He was in critical condition. The stomach device could wait. The clan wasn't going to be leaving his side. They had all missed him terribly. They were going to see him pulled through.

There was an iv in his right arm delivering pain medication to him while he was resting. He should wake up soon, they hoped.

…..

At Nightstone, the men had never returned. It was suspicious. It was possible for Brooklyn to have beaten them and got away. Demona was sure of that. She hadn't known of what the men had done to him though.

Those men were meaningless to her anyway. What she cared about was growing in the test tube. She smiled. Now the father to her child was no longer a threat, she assumed. She put her hand on the tube.

"I promise I'll be a wonderful mother to you, little one. I'll teach you to hate humans. I'll teach you stuff that I was never able to teach Angela and she wants nothing to do with me anyway." Demona talked to her little one even though it couldn't hear her. She hoped the embryo would continue to grow just fine. She just hoped it would grow without the egg.

….

It was close to sunrise when Brooklyn started to come to. "Hm." He moaned.

"Brooklyn?" Lex was closest to him.

Brook's eyes were still heavy, and he was drifting in and out of consciousness.

"Brooklyn, can you hear us?" Goliath asked softly.

"Hm." He grunted. "Am… I… dead?"

"No, bro. You're very much alive." Broadway answered.

Brooklyn's vision was very blurred coming out of his anesthesia. He could make out colors but who they were, not so much. Then Sato came into the room.

"How's he doing?" Sato asked.

"He's coming to." Hudson replied.

"It won't be long now. I just need to take out the iv in his arm." Sato said. He got a hold on Brook's right arm and took the iv out of his arm.

"Brooklyn, can you tell us anything of what happened to you?" Angela asked.

"Not… feel… good…" Brook mumbled.

"It's alright, Brooklyn. You're going to be alright." Goliath declared. "We'll talk tomorrow night. Let him rest for now."

The others nodded but wanted to still be here when he awoke. It was too close to sunrise to do anything else.

Brooklyn wondered where he was. He was just too out of it at the moment. Sunrise soon claimed him and his clan mates. Sato and Elisa just hoped that Brook could give them the answers they were seeking of what happened to him.

Elisa was too worried to leave for the day. She got some sleep in one of the spare rooms. Sato had to be there that night too to see what state of shape he was in.
