One World: Many Souls
Chapter 36: You're Kidding, Right?
Angel's Point of View:
"Mommy!"
My head lifted from the lunch that I was making for my little ones as I saw my second child rush across the floor. She had a quick little set of legs on her before she came crashing into my own. Arial was almost five at the time and growing like a weed. She reminded me so much of Frisk and actually seemed to share those same facial features with her aunt, such as the wide blinding smile and those bright eyes.
Even if they were colored like mine after my soul merged with Sans'.
"Yes, Arial?" I quickly set down what I was working on and bent closer to her level. "What is it, baby bone?"
But all she did was giggle at me. Tugging lightly on my clothes with her pudgy fingers, she beamed up at me.
"Are you being a little turd?"
And that just set her off even more. Loud giggles echoed across the house. We certainly were a full one.
"Mommy! Come see!" Arial finally spoke as she led me toward the living room where Sans was watching the other three kids. "Come see! I showed Cali and Connie a trick!"
"What?! A trick!?" Playing into the level of energy my daughter was putting out, I quickly stood back up to follow her. "Let's go see!"
And the little one released me and took off then. I hurried at her heels with a fast walk while she ran and nearly collided with a wall if it wasn't for my magic stopping her. She hurried back into our large living room space where both twins were set up in a decent sized room. All door ways were blocked off by gates and Sans sat there easily resting in a chain. Eras was curled up next to him and looked as if he was taking another nap.
I swore that kid took as many naps as his father…
"Here Mommy! Here!"
So, Arial led me right to where the twins sat. Both of them were enjoying some time playing with blocks together. Beside them was our normally anti-social cat Ebony. She normally hid out in any corner of the house she could, especially if company was over. It was very rare that anyone saw her. Though if it was just the family, she could tolerate most in the household. She was normally good with the children, especially the babies.
At that moment she was settled between the two little girls. They were focused on their blocks to much so she just laid on the floor resting. I was surprised, since normally she would be napping with my husband or son who were much quieter, and barely moved so she could get in a nap too.
And in those same moments of watching such a rare moment in our family did I see the twin girls give up on their blocks and move their hands toward the cat. While they were still young, we'd taught them to be gentle with her. They slowly laid down until their heads and arms were touching the soft fur of our family feline. I could hear her purring from only a few feet away while the girls giggled in glee at the sound.
"Cali, Connie." Arial called out their names and the youngest of the family sat up to look at her. She turned briefly to me. "Watch this Mommy!"
Arial then turned back to her younger sisters and blew a raspberry at them. To my utter shock, the girls just didn't only laugh. They laughed… in unison… The girls were in perfect sync. I swore they were more identical than I knew… sharing a brain and everything…
"Wow…"
"See Mommy!" Arial was beaming at my surprise, though it was for an entirely different reason then I think she knew. "I got them to laugh!"
"You did so good, baby bone!" I leaned down then to give her a good hug and a kiss. She giggled at that. "Now are you about ready for lunch?"
"Yes please!"
"Lunch?" It was at the moment I said those words that my husband and son lifted their heads from their nap. Sans blinked his eye lights into existence and Eras rubbed his tired eye lids. "That time already Precious?"
"Yes, Darling. Its bout twelve now."
"Could I help?" Even while he yawned, my eldest and only son slid off the couch where he laid with his father to come over to me.
"I'm sorry, baby bone." I rubbed his hair gently. "You were sleeping so soundly; I didn't want to wake you up."
He was incredibly saddened by my reply. His lip wobbled and his tired eyes were more awake than before. It honestly broke my heart because I knew this would happen. My eldest was a lovely child. He loved to sleep and rest just like his father, but was just as hard of a worker if it was his passion. He liked helping out, being in the kitchen. He was always there trying to help as he grew if I had a task I could have him help me with.
"I promise I didn't do much for lunch, Eras. Just some basic sandwiches and veggies." It wasn't much, but I saw him lessen his sad look at that. "How about this? We're going to be doing a big dinner tonight, since Uncle Papy, Aunt Lilly and Impact are coming over. You want to help me there? We need to make some brownies for dessert and we're making your uncles favorite."
His eyes lit up, knowing there was a good amount of cooking to do. "I can help make spaghetti?"
"Of course! You can help me with all of it!" I smiled at him. "Will you forgive me, baby bone?"
"Yes Mommy… thanks…"
"Of course! Now!" I stood up briefly and gave both older kids a kiss to their forehead. "Can both of you watch Cali and Connie for a couple minutes while your father and I bring out lunch?"
"Yes Mommy."
"Okay Mommy!"
"Thank you."
With one last look to the kids, I motioned for Sans to follow me to the kitchen. He followed me out quickly to where I had a few plates of goodies for the kids. I had some soft-boiled veggies for the youngest ones along with some mac and cheese. The older two got sandwiches, carrots and a few chips I threw on their plates.
"So," once the children were away from us, I looked nervously to my husband. "Have you heard anything from Undyne?"
My husband sighed, expecting that question once we were away from the kids. "Nah, m'phone hasn't gone off the entire time I've been nappin'."
"Should we be concerned? Alphys is almost two weeks late."
"Could be worse." He sighed and gave me a sideways glance. "I 'member ya bein' near a month late with Eras and Arial."
"I know… but this is Alphys… not me…"
"I know, Precious. I know-"
And then we were cut off by my phone ringing. I dove to pull it out of my pocket and see if was the very lady I was wondering if I would get a call from. I answered before I could even think.
"Undyne, what happened?"
"Easy there, Angel. Al's fine." Our fish friend sounded ever so giddy as I talked to her. "Al went into labor just a few hours ago and we got our girl! Both are healthy and safe!"
"Oh, thank goodness!" I sighed so deeply before turning to my husband who watched with wide eye lights. "Alphys gave birth! They're both okay!"
"Damn…. Good…" Sans sighed, giving me a thumbs up.
"Its so good to hear! We were so worried!"
"Your good! Oh shit! Angel, ya gotta see what she looks like! Did ya get the picture yet?"
I was about to tell the woman no when my phone made a 'ding' like sound and I pulled back my phone to take a look. The picture had me gasping when I saw what was before me.
Alphys was holding onto a little baby while her two young toddlers of three and one and a half looked on. The baby was the most astounding combination I'd seen of Undyne and Alphys yet. She was… green! Like a seafoam green color. Her coloring was absolutely the most adorable and surprising thing I think I'd seen. Little tuffs of red hair graced her skull and she was more shaped like Undyne and Zakhar. Slim, thin, and fish scale like.
But my jaw nearly unhinged when I saw that she also had inherited Alphys' freckles as well! But the little baby's… her's were snow white! I couldn't believe it as I saw large patches of them around the cheeks, nose, and shoulders of the infant. It was absolutely insane.
And just below that picture was her entire name. Valeriya von Undying.
"Undyne… she's absolutely stunning…"
"Hell yeah she is! I'm gonna have to show her how to beat up people who hit on her! Same with her brothers!"
"Oh goodness…"
While Undyne laughed on the other end of the line, I motioned Sans to take a look at the newest member of the von Undying family. A boney brow was raised at her and I nodded my head dramatically when we saw her together.
"But anyway, we're good. And you said you weren't gonna have any more kids, right? Sans got that procedure like me?"
"Yes, four is quite a few. And Sans had the procedure done about… three months ago? It wasn't too long. His soul just started to feel better a short while ago from having his soul messed with."
I wasn't all entirely sure of what the procedure entailed besides preventing the soul merging that created children. With four kids already to take care of, having another just didn't seem reasonable. We were stretched thin as it was.
"And you're sure it worked?"
"I haven't felt sick if that's what you mean. No, I don't think I'm pregnant again."
"Shit, Angel. I'm not tryin' to be a ass here, but… my first one failed and we got this little cutie. I had to go back. I don't wanna get ya scared, but maybe take a test to be sure? Al felt fine too, we only found out because it was her normal yearly check up and Olivia did one as a precaution."
Undyne did raise a fair point, though I still didn't believe her. I felt fine, sickness was my first clue as to that I was pregnant the last two times. I knew there were other symptoms, like being tired, or achy. But I had four kids and a country to take care of, who wouldn't be tired and sore?
"I can take a test, if only to prove you wrong."
"Hey, prove me wrong then. I think you said Sans went to the same guy I did the first time? Turns out he's shit and losing his license."
"What?!"
And that had me worried.
Without waiting on my husband I hurried to the first floor bathroom, phone still in hand while I gather my supply of pregnancy tests. I always took one once a month when getting pregnant in the past, but I hardly did so anymore. I was content with my girls and boy. While I wouldn't shun another child… five is a bit much, wouldn't anyone say?
So, discover my mixed emotions when I discovered that I was pregnant again. Five weeks along.
"Yo! Angel! Ya still there?"
I took one long breath and sighed. "I hate that you were right. Send me the details of who you went to the second time."
"Oh shit…" Undyne didn't like the tone I was using. "Yeah… I'll do that… sorry Angel…"
"No, at least now I know. But please tell me in advance next time?"
"Yeah, yeah…"
With that I promptly hung up the phone and left the bathroom. With the pregnancy test in hand, I walked over to my husband. He held a nervous look to him as he felt the uneasy feelings to my soul.
"So… Darling…"
"Yeah?"
"Turns out your procedure didn't work."
"My what?" Sans paused for a moment to look me over before he saw the pregnancy test in my hands. He blinked at it before he saw it was positive. "Oh shit…"
"For your sake, I hope it not another set of twins."
I sighed then, trying to control my wayward emotions. It was honestly quite difficult as we had been quite happy and settled, and another child we would work into it. I would never hate them, or Sans. It was neither's mistake.
"Precious… I'm real sorry…"
Sans honestly did seem really sorry. I knew he was. This wasn't something that either of us planned. We assumed that the gent we went to before knew what he was doing. But clearly that wasn't the case after what happened and what Undyne noted.
"I'm not… mad per say… I still love you and I'll love this child no differently than the others." I sighed as I set down the test on the counter before walking over and hugging my husband. "Just… I think we have enough kids after this. Don't you think?"
"Yeah, yeah, yer right Precious." He laid his skull out on my shoulder. "I'll get right on it."
"Thank you." I gave a kiss to his skull before turning to face the food I'd left behind. "Well now, we have kids to feed. And we have to tell them they're gonna be big siblings."
"How ya think that's gonna go?"
"Arial will be ecstatic. I don't think the younger twins are old enough to truly process it yet. Eras will be happy, but probably not as much as his sister will be. That's my guess."
"Alright then. Let's go find out." Sans grabbed a few plates and I grabbed the others. Though before I left the kitchen, I couldn't resist feeling over my abdomen for my newest baby growing there.
Please… don't let it be another set of twins…
Witch's Note:
Oh boy, here we go again! Angel is pregnant for a third time! Alright, I wanna hear bets, let's line them up! Who's guessing what?
Mystic Girl: (She takes a second to poke her head out of her dungeon to look eagerly and raise her hand.) Let me go first!
Me: (I shook my head at her.) You can't! You know the answer!
Mystic Girl: (She pouted and receded back to her room to continue with the upgrades.)
Me: But we do get some adorable moments of the kids and starting to see just the beginning hints of their personalities. This is gonna be so great as they grow and we see the kids.
But... no bad guys showing up, makes me worried as we wait to see them move from the background.
But let's forget that, I'll move onto reviews while we still have some time to chat! Review time!
Thechaosmaster: Like a lioness indeed! This was a chapter that Mystic Girl and I had to work on extra hard. It really meant a lot to us to show the growth of Frisk, but show the struggles she had, plus the extra struggles that maybe we weren't even aware of. It was a perfect spot to have the men who were hardly mentioned, finally mentioned for something.
But I'm so glad the site is fixed now, so hopefully you and the others will have an easier time getting in touch with us and each other. But don't forget to check PMs as well! Though normally they go to the mail box... in case you ever get one!
Also, very happy your next chapters are coming along! Very excited to see them posted to read. Take your time, and make sure to space out you're posting so it will be easier on yourself. I'm glad to see the flow coming back Chaos!
Shadow8Phantom: You must be right there Shadow! I suppose in a way I think it's more funny when Mystic and I see the reviews and when you have a near perfect guess or are on the right track, it just makes the two of us so giddy and we gab about it for a while.
We enjoy it a lot that a reader/similar active fanfic author can do that. Sometimes it can make us a bit worried that we're becoming too predictable, but most of the time we're just enjoying it.
And yes, Frisk and Asriel are trying to be as reasonable about their relationship as they can, more so that Frisk will continue to deal with those emotions as they grow together. It is entirely terrifying. I don't know how'd I'd feel about becoming a queen if I was in her shoes... And with a past like hers, that could be a set back, depending. We don't know yet.
And this past is ugly, but holding herself so well shows the progress.
But you're right, there still is a lot to do for change if Luke and that hooded figure get involved, who knows how that will go...
Not A Shady Guy: I know right!? Oh this was one of our favorite chapters! I think the only other one that trumps this at the moment was when Frisk so easily bashed Mettaton for Papy about ten chapters ago, or when Angel and Sans got married. At least that's my feelings, I know that Mystic loves that chapter when Frisk metaphorically kicks the tincan's ass.
Proud really isn't strong enough of a word. I know I'm absolutely thrilled for her, elated that she was able to accomplish this.
MysticBoywastaken: Give it a bit more time Mystic Boy. Healing doesn't come easy, especially with events like this. I know the story seems like its going slow, but a few years have passed since Frisk escaped and she's still taking time to recover. So hang in there. You'll get there, but you have to take that time for yourself.
Alright, another chapter done and over with for the time being and now we have more to come! I know we're over halfway done with the story now and plenty more to come! Now who's excited for it! I know I am as Angel faces some hardships with having a very unusual blended family...
Love you all and see you next week!
Halloween Witch and Mystic Girl
