Laverre City Gym Battles (Part Two)
Kevin spends his time waiting for Valerie to return from the Pokemon Center going over what he saw from her previous battles and what Pokemon he should use.
Twenty minutes later, Valerie and Rolf return. Rolf goes to where Jonny and Nazz are while Valerie goes to where she was for her last few battles.
"I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long." said Valerie.
"No problem." said Kevin. The referee then steps to the center of the arena.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Valerie; and the challenger, Kevin." said the girl. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; whoever manages to knock out all their opponent's Pokemon first will be the winner. Let the battle begin." The girl steps off the field and Valerie and Kevin each take out a pokeball. Valerie throws her pokeball, releasing her Mawile; Kevin throws his, releasing his Fletchinder.
"All right, Fletchinder! Use Ember!" said Kevin. Fletchinder releases bits of fire from his beak which hit Mawile, doing super effective damage.
"Mawile, use Crunch!" said Valerie. Mawile uses the jaws coming out of the top of its head to bite down hard on Fletchinder.
"Fletchinder, keep using Ember!" said Kevin. Fletchinder repeatedly uses Ember due to the fact that Kevin knew that his other moves weren't going to do much.
"Mawile, use Bite!" said Valerie. Mawile's head jaws bite down on Fletchinder as he kept hitting it with Ember. Soon, Mawile couldn't handle it anymore and passes out.
"Mawile is unable to battle. Fletchinder is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, dude!" said Kevin. Fletchinder squawks in triumph.
"Awesome job, Kevin!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is happy for Kevin." said Rolf. Valerie returns her Mawile to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Mawile." said Valerie. She puts Mawile's pokeball away and pulls out another one; she throws it, releasing her Mr. Mime.
"Fletchinder, use Roost!" said Kevin. Fletchinder lands on the ground and starts gathering energy to restore his health.
"Mr. Mime, use Psybeam!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime hits Fletchinder with a a beam of psychic energy.
"Fletchinder, use Razor Wind!" said Kevin. Fletchinder starts flapping his wings to build up power in them.
"Mr. Mime, use Psychic!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime uses his psychic powers to launch Fletchinder back, just as he releases blades of wind from his wings, hitting it, right before he hits a wall. He then struggles to keep himself in mid-air.
"Fletchinder, use Flail!" said Kevin. Fletchinder starts swinging his wings around, hitting Mr. Mime hard as he does.
"Mr. Mime, use Double Slap!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime starts slapping Fletchinder repeatedly, eventually becoming too much for him to handle, making him pass out.
"Fletchinder is unable to battle. Mr. Mime is the winner." said the referee.
"Excellent job, Mr. Mime." said Valerie, making Mr. Mime smile back at her. Kevin returns Fletchinder to his pokeball.
"You were awesome, man." said Kevin. He puts Fletchinder's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he tosses it, releasing his Golett.
"Mr. Mime. Use Light Screen!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime creates a wall of light in front of itself.
"Golett, use Shadow Punch!" said Kevin. Golett's fist becomes coated in a gray mist, and it throws it at Mr. Mime, striking it hard enough to knock it out.
"Mr. Mime is unable to battle. Golett is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, Golett!" said Kevin. Golett bows its body towards Kevin.
"Keep it up, Kevin!" said Jonny.
"Just one more to go, dude!" said Nazz. Just then, a notification appears on the pokedex, making Nazz look at it. "Hey, this says that Golett just learned Night Shade."
"Awesome." said Kevin. Valerie returns her Mr. Mime to its pokeball.
"You did well, Mr. Mime." said Valerie. She then puts Mr. Mime's pokeball away and pulls out her last one; she throws it, releasing her Sylveon. "Sylveon, use Moonblast!" Sylveon creates a ball of pink light and launches it at Golett, hitting it.
"Golett, use Night Shade!" said Kevin. Golett puts its hands close together and releases a large stream of black energy from them, hitting Sylveon.
"Sylveon, use Disarming Voice!" said Valerie. Sylveon releases a soft soundwave which hits Golett, damaging it.
"Golett, use Mega Punch!" said Kevin. Golett moves at Sylveon and throws a punch into her side.
"Sylveon, use Moonblast one more time!" said Valerie. Sylveon then releases another ball of pink energy at Golett, hitting it, and doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Golett is unable to battle. Sylveon is the winner." said the referee.
"Magnificent work, Sylveon." said Valerie. Sylveon yips in response.
"Kevin's down to one more Pokemon." said Jonny.
"He can still win this!" said Nazz.
"Rolf believes in Kevin." said Rolf. Kevin returns his Golett to its pokeball.
"You were awesome." said Kevin. He puts Golett's pokeball away and pulls out his last one; then throws it to release his Venusaur. "Time to Mega Evolve!" Kevin touches the stone on his Mega Ring, making energy appear around him and Venusaur; strands come out of the two and connect with one another, transforming Venusaur to his Mega Form.
"Right on!" said Jonny.
"Mega Vensaur, use Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Mega Venusaur launches a barrage of leaves at Sylveon, hitting her.
"Sylveon, use Swift!" said Valerie. Sylveon releases a barrage of stars at Mega Venusaur, hitting him.
"Mega Venusaur, finish this with Double Edge!" said Kevin. Mega Venusaur charges full force at Sylveon, slamming her with such force that she gets send flying into a wall, and hurts himself a little in the process. Sylveon then slides down to the floor, unconscious.
"Sylveon is unable to battle. Mega Venusaur is the winner. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Kevin." said the referee.
"He won!" cheered Nazz.
"You did it, Kevin!" said Jonny.
"Rolf is pleased that Kevin won." said Rolf. Mega Venusaur returns to his normal form and runs over to Kevin who rubs his forehead.
"You were great, man." said Kevin. Valerie returns her Sylveon to her pokeball.
"You did well, Sylveon." said Valerie. She puts Sylveon's pokeball away and walks over to where Kevin and Venusaur were. "You did well in your gym battle."
"Thanks, babe." said Kevin. Valerie shyly looks away as she pulls out a Fairy Badge from her sash.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Fairy Badge." said Valerie as she hands it, along with some pokedollars to Kevin.
"Check it out! I got the Fairy Badge!" said Kevin as he holds it up in triumph.
"Good work, Kevin!" said Nazz. Valerie looks over at her.
"I guess this means that you're next." said Valerie.
"Yeah, I'm ready." said Nazz.
"I shall return after I get my Pokemon treated." said Valerie.
"And I'll be waiting." said Nazz. Valerie and Kevin exit the gym while Nazz prepares herself for her upcoming battle. Kevin and Valerie soon return; Valerie goes to her end of the arena while Kevin joins Jonny and Rolf on the bleachers. The referee walks to the center of the arena.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Valerie; and the challenger, Nazz." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; whoever manages to knock out all their opponent's Pokemon first will be the winner. Let the battle begin." The girl steps off the field and Valerie and Nazz each take out a pokeball.
"Go, Mawile!" said Valerie, throwing Mawile's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Pyroar!" said Nazz, throwing Pyroar's pokeball and releasing her. "Pyroar, use Work Up!" Pyroar becomes surrounded by a light red aura and her strength increases.
"Mawile, use Crunch!" said Valerie. Mawile jumps at Pyroar and bites her with its jaws, dealing damage and weakening its special defense.
"Bite Mawile back with Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Pyroar's mouth becomes covered in fire, and she bites Mawile, dealing massive damage to it. "Hey, is by any chance your Mawile's a female?"
"It is, why?" asked Valerie.
"So Pyroar's Rivalry ability will make her attacks stronger against Mawile." said Nazz, surprising Valerie. Mawile becomes surrounded by fire.
"Mawile's burned." said Jonny.
"Mawile, use Feint Attack!" said Valerie. Mawile jumps to the left and disappears. As Pyroar is looking around, Mawile appears next to Pyroar and hits her with her jaws. Mawile receives damage from her burn.
"Ember!" said Nazz. Pyroar unleashes embers from her mouth, and they hit Mawile, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"Mawile is unable to battle. Pyroar wins the match!" said the referee.
"Way to go, Pyroar." said Nazz. Pyroar roars in response.
"Man, Pyroar can take down all of Valerie's Pokemon if the rest of them are girls, especially with her Rivalry ability." said Kevin. Valerie returns Mawile to her pokeball.
"You did well, Mawile." said Valerie. She puts Mawile's pokeball away and pulls out another pokeball. "Mr. Mime, go!" She throws Mr. Mime's pokeball and releases it.
"Pyroar, use Leer!" said Nazz. Pyroar glares at Mr. Mime and her eyes glowed red. Mr. Mime trembles and its defense weakens.
"Mr. Mime, use Psychic!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime's eyes glow blue and Pyroar becomes surrounded by light blue energy; she gets lifted up and slammed into the ground, being dealt more damage than it normally would, due to Pyroar's defense being weakened by Mawile's Crunch earlier.
"Use Headbutt!" said Nazz. Pyroar runs at Mr. Mime.
"Reflect!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime forms a glass square of energy in front of it. Pyroar rams into it, doing moderate damage to Mr. Mime due to Reflect absorbing some of the damage, despite its defense being weakened by Pyroar's Leer. Mr. Mime flinches from Headbutt. "Despite Mr. Mime's name, she too is female."
"Kind of stupid to call a female Pokemon, Mister." said Kevin.
"Rolf agrees." said Rolf.
"Why don't they call female Mr. Mimes, Mrs Mimes instead?" asked Jonny.
"Good question." said Kevin.
"Pyroar, Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Pyroar's mouth become covered in fire, and she jumps at Mr. Mime; she bites her, dealing more damage due to her Rivalry ability.
"Mr. Mime, Psychic!" said Valerie. Mr. Mime lifts up Pyroar with psychic energy and slams her onto the arena floor. Pyroar struggles to get up.
"You can do it, Pyroar. Use Headbutt again!" said Nazz. Pyroar runs at Mr. Mime and rams her, knocking Mr. Mime to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Mr. Mime is unable to battle. Pyroar wins the match." said the referee.
"I knew you can do it, Pyroar." said Nazz.
"Keep going, Nazz!" said Kevin. Valerie returns Mr. Mime to her pokeball.
"You fought marvelously, Mr. Mime." said Valerie. She puts Mr. Mime's pokeball away and pulls out another pokeball. "Your Pyroar is strong, Nazz, but let's see how she does against Sylveon." She throws Sylveon's pokeball and releases her. "Sylveon, Quick Attack!" Sylveon charges at Pyroar with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back.
"Pyroar, Leer!" said Nazz. Pyroar glares at Sylveon and her eyes glow red, weakening Sylveon's defense.
"Sylveon, Swift!" said Valerie. Sylveon releases stars from her body and they hit Pyroar, knocking her to the ground.
"Pyroar, Fire Fang!" said Nazz. Pyroar's mouth is covered in fire, and she bites Sylveon, doing more damage than it normally would, due to Pyroar's Rivalry ability and Sylveon's defense being weakened by Leer. Sylveon becomes covered in fire.
"Sylveon's burned." said Kevin. Sylveon winces in pain from her burn.
"Sylveon, use Swift!" said Valerie. Sylveon releases more stars at Pyroar and hits her, knocking her out.
"Pyroar is unable to battle. Sylveon wins the match." said the referee.
"Wonderful job, Sylveon." said Valerie. Nazz returns Pyroar to her pokeball.
"You were awesome out there, Pyroar." said Nazz. She puts Pyroar's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Dedenne, come out!" She tosses Dedenne's pokeball and releases her. "Dedenne, use Charge!" Dedenne becomes covered in electricity and her special defense increases.
"Sylveon, Swift!" said Valerie. Sylveon releases more stars at Dedenne, hitting her, but not doing much damage due to her special defense being increased. Sylveon receives damage from her burn.
"Parabolic Charge!" said Nazz. Dedenne releases electricity from her body into the air, forming a ball of electricity; multiple blasts of electricty shoots out from the ball and some of them hits Sylveon, doing more damage due to Charge powering up the next electric type attack used. Sylveon falls to the floor with swirly eyes.
"Sylveon is unable to battle. Dedenne wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said the referee.
"We did it, Dedenne!" said Nazz, spreading her arms. Dedenne runs to Nazz and jumps onto her. Nazz wraps her arms around Dedenne and hugs her.
"That was awesome!" said Kevin.
"Rolf believed Nazz will win." said Rolf.
"Me and Plank, too." said Jonny. Valerie returns Sylveon to her pokeball.
"You were splendid, Sylveon." said Valerie. She puts Sylveon's pokeball away and walks to Nazz. "You did an excellent job raising your Pokemon."
"Thanks, Valerie." said Nazz. Valerie then pulls a Fairy Badge out of her pocket.
"For your victory here, I present you with the Fairy Badge." said Valerie. She gives Nazz the Fairy Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Awesome! I just won the Fairy Badge!" cheered Nazz. Now that everyone has each earned a Fairy Badge, they're one step closer to competing in the Kalos League.
