Hello Caskett'eers! Isn't it amazing the ideas that hit you when you're driving down the road battling 5:00 traffic and trying to get home? Suddenly your muse inspires you and next thing you know you've spent nearly four hours listening to your YouTube playlist and knocking out a 5,000 word chapter! Woo Hoo!
So let's get to it... Kate has talked to her father; Rick is waiting downstairs for her; and a certain decoration in his bathroom needs some explanation.
Here's Chapter 7 of Moments of Always: When Time Explodes!

Chapter 7
Kate breathed out a long sigh of relief. Okay, she had talked to her dad. She tossed her phone onto the bed beside her and leaned back against the stack of pillows on the bed.
Honestly, who needed six pillows on a bed? Hotels were one thing…but really, Castle?
It was a fleeting thought because she realized she was suddenly lounging on four of those pillows wearing Rick's robe on the bed in his spare bedroom with him waiting downstairs for her.
Oh yeah…she wanted to hear the Boba Fett story.
The police detective closed her eyes momentarily and took a long deep breath. In her/their exhaustion she knew she wasn't exactly thinking straight. But at this very moment, after talking with her father, she envisioned herself going down to the living room, sharing at least part of a bottle of wine with Rick - when did his first name overtake calling him by his last name? - and then possibly leading him into his bedroom to fall asleep in that magnificently comfortable bed in that room.
She took another deep breath. The Kate Beckett who was well rested wouldn't think like this…would she? Or…would she? If she stayed up here, in her room, would she regret not returning to Rick on the couch downstairs? Or, would that clear her thoughts. Would that get her back to Castle simply being a concerned and caring co-worker?
"You're overthinking this Kate," she startled…that voice in her head sounded dangerously like her mother.
Could she possibly not overthink this? She wasn't talking about sleeping with him - well, not in the sexual/physical/making love- wait, what?- way of thinking…or was she?...
Although that idea was crossing her mind, obviously, and seeming more and more inviting by the moment.
Kate huffed at herself. She picked up her phone and looked at it. It was nowhere near late in the evening. She opened her text messages and found her best girlfriend's name. Speaking of overthinking… Kate typed out the message quickly and hit send before giving it a second thought.
She hoped this wouldn't open the door for a phone call, or open up other floodgates for opinions other than those from Lanie Parish.
"If I sleep with him, does that make me a bad person?"
Kate watched the screen on her phone. The three wavering dots meant Lanie had seen the line and was responding.
"Is this the exhaustion talking or a woman who finally realizes what's right in front of her?"
Kate ducked her head. 'I feel like a hypocrite.'
"That's a forgivable sin. Are you seriously thinking about being with him?"
'...Yeah…'
Kate's stomach fluttered. Her chats with Lanie often included the medical examiner calling her out about her feelings, or lack of feelings, or how Kate ignores her feelings. Their sessions were therapeutic, especially when they led to breakthroughs where Kate actually opened up to her dear friend.
Apparently, via text, this was one of those times.
Then, as much as she didn't want it, her phone vibrated in her hand with the incoming call.
"What's happened since you got back to his place?" Lanie opened with a traditional question.
"Just talking, relaxing…a nice bubble bath. I mean a nice bubble bath, Lanes," Kate pulled her bottom lip between her teeth and sucked in some air.
"A bubble bath WITH Castle?" Lanie's eyebrows hit her hairline with that thought.
"No," Kate responded with a little shake of her voice, "But I asked him to sit and talk to me while I was in the bath."
"Who are you and what have you done with Kate?" Lanie didn't exactly laugh after asking the question.
"He's just taking care of me, Lanie. That was part of our discussion…why did he want me here with him. I know he's been this womanizing playboy but I get the feeling he really does care…about me." Kate stalled.
Was that really what she thought? Yeah, yes, it was.
"He does care about you. He's in love with you," Lanie's voice was softer on the other end of the line. "Question is, Sweetheart, how do you feel about him?"
"I'm… I'm still trying to figure that out, but I think I do have feelings for him. Good feelings… really, really good feelings," Kate admitted.
She pulled a knee up and rested her chin on it as she held the phone close to her ear.
"In that case then," Lanie started, "Sleeping with him does not make you a bad person. But Kate, take your time. Let him know how you feel and then let a relationship grow. Hell, the man's been following you for three years now. A few more days or weeks or months isn't gonna change his mind unless you give him a reason to."
"Mm-kay," Kate licked her lips and let Lanie's words sink in. "Thanks, Lanes."
"Hey, you deserve this, Lady. Don't overthink and beat yourself down. Let him take care of you and enjoy it. Enjoy him." Lanie could feel Kate's smile through the phone. She was so happy for her friend that she wanted to send a bottle of champagne to the Castle loft.
Instead, as they hung up the phone, Lanie decided perhaps a gift of lingerie might just be more appropriate - and potentially embarrassing - for Katherine Beckett. She quirked one corner of her lip up in a devious kind of smile.
Kate and Castle in a relationship potentially? This could be fun!
MomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlways
Kate took the towel off her head and reluctantly leaned her head back onto the pillows and looked up at the ceiling. She had had feelings for men before, but Rick was certainly different.
Working with him had given her a new perspective about her own job. Seeing him as a father had brought her just a little closer to her own father, and had made her admire a side of Richard Castle that few got to witness. And having his attention focused on her… she had never liked being the center of attention but with Rick?
Maybe Lanie was right. Maybe, just maybe she could let him take care of her, at least for a little while.
And for that reason, she smiled to herself, she pushed herself off the bed and grabbed the sleep clothes that she had been thinking about wearing again for about the past 48 hours. Rick's t-shirt and storm trooper jammie pants had her feeling more comfortable than she expected.
In addition, she easily recalled the last time she had worn them, and the kiss that Rick had given her in the kitchen. She needed to let him know that gesture wasn't inappropriate, or unwanted.
Kate bit on her bottom lip as she grabbed his robe and slid her arms into it, tied it around her waist and then headed back to the living room.
MomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlways
His eyes were closed with his head drooped to the side, leaning against one of the back couch cushions when she got to the bottom of the stairs. She couldn't help thinking that he looked adorable but not completely comfortable in that position.
Kate really debated whether or not she should wake him up. But, after another second she realized it would benefit her and Rick both. Otherwise he would have a sore neck and that would likely come back to haunt her as well.
"Hey you," she said softly and stole the opportunity to run her fingers through his perfectly styled hair above his eyebrows. "Rick, you're gonna have a stiff neck if you sleep like that for much longer."
She surprised herself, thinking how that line might be something that a wife or mother would say.
"Mmm, not sleeping," Castle mumbled and Kate smiled then pulled her fingers away from his scalp. "Didn't say you should stop," he added a little more clearly with a projected pout of his bottom lip.
Kate chuckled at his antics but again ran her fingertips through his hair. "Why is it you never have a hair out of place?" she wondered. Her head tilted and then she took a breath and sat down next to his outstretched legs on the couch.
"It's just perfect, like me," he gave her a sideways grin even with his eyes still closed. "Do you know how amazing that feels?"
"Me sitting here, or the scalp massage?" Kate asked before being caught off guard at just how domestic this little scene might appear to someone looking in from the outside.
"Both," Rick blinked and opened his eyes to see her face. "Don't stop and don't move," he instructed more than he requested as he took his arm that had been wedged between his body and the couch and placed it gently against her waist.
Kate let a little laugh escape and then pulled her fingers away from his hair and found a place for her hand to rest against his chest.
They each just looked at one another for a lengthy moment before Rick moved his eyes to the bathrobe and farther down to the pj bottoms she had slipped into.
"Uh-oh," he frowned slightly, "did the other pajamas not fit?" his eyes met hers again with a little worry.
Kate shook her head and smiled at him. "I dunno, I didn't try them on."
"Wrong color?" Rick surmised.
She shook her head again. "Nope," Kate shrugged her shoulders, "I like how these feel," she stated simply and used her free fingers to pull up some of the material on her thigh.
Rick raised his eyebrows and then used his fingers at her waist to tug on the material of the robe. "You know, stealing and wearing my clothes kinda sends me mixed messages. But considering how tired we both are, I should probably just chalk this up to exhaustion and not let my mind wander, should I?"
Leave it to Rick to decide NOW to jump into the appropriate/inappropriate considerations…
Kate debated as they again looked at each other silently. Her eyes dropped to her hand on his chest and the gentle rise and fall of his breaths. She could move that hand back up to his cheek then bend forward and kiss him to answer his question.
Or, as Lanie suggested, she could still take her time - they could take their time - and make sure this newborn kind of relationship grew the way it could and should.
"Kate?" Rick enjoyed the quiet moment but her silence worried him slightly.
She nibbled on her bottom lip then gave into her heart and body as she bent forward and placed a soft kiss on his lips. She pulled back with a sigh and let him witness her heavy eyelids and the purse of her lips as she held onto the feeling of being pressed against him.
"You can let your mind wander," she said a little nervously. "But Rick, I still need time to figure out…just…"
"I get it," he nodded with an easy closed-lip smile. "But you know how far my mind can wander, don't you?"
Kate had to laugh at him. "I can only imagine. And yes, that scares me. But just so you know," she dipped her eyebrows as she thought about what she wanted to say, and moved her fingertips and hand over his chest and pectoral muscles, "I like the way you're taking care of me. I don't need silk pajamas or new clothes - well, I guess I do need those…" She smiled and her nose crinkled making Rick grasp her waist again just a little more firmly.
"But I really do appreciate you taking me in and taking care of me and…" Kate pressed her lips together, hesitating.
"And what?" Rick prodded.
"I really appreciate you sending Martha and Alexis away for the weekend so I could come home to a quiet place where I can get my thoughts back together and where," she looked back down at her hand on his chest and gently gathered some of his t-shirt in her grip, "you and I could have some time alone, together."
Rick's face relaxed as he felt a warmth run through his body. "I care about you Kate. I just want you to know that and I want to take care of you."
Kate bent down again and pressed another, lengthier kiss to his lips. She tingled a little when Rick's other hand found its way to the other side of her waist and held her in place.
She could easily get lost in a simple kiss with him. His hands on her body, even through two layers of clothing, were comforting and made her feel wanted and loved. As she pulled away from him again she realized that the word didn't scare her as much as it had.
And if she really thought about it, she could almost admit that the feeling was mutual… Almost.
MomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlways
"Are we gonna watch the movie?" Kate stood up from the couch and looked down at him still laying there a little stunned from two kisses instigated by the detective of his dreams.
"Mmm," he hummed and tried to pry his mind back to the moment following their liplock, "movie…movie…" he dipped his eyebrows in thought. "Oh, oh! Maltese Falcon, right."
Kate smiled at him. She proceeded to take off the bathrobe, revealing fully to him that she was wearing his shirt along with those pajama bottoms. She tossed the robe onto a chair with at least a momentary feeling that she belonged in this setting and was really trying to make herself at home.
A little twinge of nervousness hit her stomach however as she wondered if he would say something about clothing haphazardly strewn about his neat and tidy abode.
Instead, as she should've guessed, he simply looked at her and seemed fully content that she would let her guard down enough to be comfortable with him.
"Is there room for me on the couch?" She dared to make the request and felt her chest tighten. They had kissed, yes, but was she asking to cuddle with him?
"Absolutely," he smiled and stretched his legs as he moved around, not really sure how she wanted to join him. "Wait, do you want some popcorn and some wine?" He offered.
Kate smiled and decided to sit down at the opposite end of the couch, now that his legs were out of the way. She nodded, "That sounds good. But, Castle, I gotta tell you, I'm not sure I can stay awake for the whole movie." She pressed her lips together. "Could we maybe watch the movie another night?"
"Sure," Rick's heart dropped a touch. Maybe she had just come back downstairs to return his robe and say goodnight.
But Kate looked at him and blinked those long eyelashes of hers and practically read his mind. "I could still use a glass of wine, maybe without the popcorn?" She requested and watched his face brighten again. "Unless of course your story telling requires popcorn…which I can imagine. Either that or it'll put me to sleep. But I'm guessing your verbal storytelling skills are as good as your written ones?"
Rick's face brightened even more with her compliments. "Come now, Detective, don't you know my penchant for telling tales? What story am I spinning this time for you? Mob hit? Spy? Mob hit of a spy? Or are you looking more for a fairytale to help you sleep? Maybe I can tell you the tale of a New York police detective who was pulled in by the roguishly handsome writer who wormed his way into her life."
Kate snorted, "One step at a time Writer Boy," she attempted to shoot back at him without denying the idea he had just set before her.
"Writer Man, I think you mean," Castle corrected her with a sideways grin. "And, by the way, you've kissed me three times since we got back here - not that I'm counting, mind you. But, just so you know, I'm not opposed to that at all. I actually hope you'll toss a few more my way," he raised his eyebrows wanting her to at least acknowledge the growing feelings.
Kate sucked in a breath that was a little shaky. "I'll think about it," she nodded and smiled at him a little shyly.
He stepped toward her and stood beside Kate as she pulled her feet up onto the couch. Rick reached a hand out and was happy when she looked up at him and put her hand in his.
He didn't try to pull her off the couch or lower himself to her. But he pulled her hand to his lips and again placed light kisses on each of her knuckles before pressing his lips to the back of her hand.
When Kate shivered, Rick pulled his mouth from her skin and looked at her with a smile. "Kate, if the signs you're giving me mean that you want to give…us…a chance…" he took a deep breath and squeezed her hand gently, "count me in. We'll take it as slow as you want to. I know you need time and that's fine." He took a breath and let go of her hand, turning away before adding, "But if I'm totally misreading this, let me know. I don't want to end up being the butt of some precinct joke."
He stepped away from her to get a bottle of wine, still aiming to help her rest through what was just her second night in his home.
"Castle," Kate's voice made him stop momentarily, "you're not wrong." She stopped with that and watched as his next steps took on the little swagger of a confident man who was ready to share a drink with a woman who apparently had feelings for him as well.
MomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlwaysMomentsOfAlways
"So now it's my turn to ask," Rick returned with a bottle of white wine and two glasses, "where am I sitting?"
Kate moved herself toward the middle of the couch and patted the corner where she had been sitting. Rick easily sat himself down next to her and placed the two glasses on the coffee table in front of them. He had already uncorked the bottle so he began pouring a drink for the both of them before he turned and put the bottle off to the side, on a coaster on the end table.
When he grabbed the glasses and handed one to Kate he dared to ask, "So, fairytale or mystery? Am I storytelling to put your dreams into mystery mode or romance?"
Kate took a sip of the wine and closed her eyes. Wow that was good! Sweet, but she could already feel the alcohol stretching into her sinuses.
"I was actually thinking a little non-fiction. Have you already forgotten, Castle? Boba Fett?
Rick rolled his eyes. Sitting next to each other on the couch made it a little tougher to see the expressions on each others faces but Kate knew.
"Did you think I was going to forget?" Kate laughed and nudged her knee against his.
"Well I was hoping the call with your dad might throw you off track," Rick sighed.
"Not a chance, Castle. And if the chat with Lanie-" she stopped abruptly.
"You talked to Lanie, too? I thought she was leaving you alone to rest for a while," Rick turned sideways and bent his knee to pull his leg up onto the couch. From that angle he could see the blush on Kate's face. "Did you call her?"
"No," Kate's face scrunched into a defiant look as she backed herself to the other corner of the couch and pulled both her legs up to relax, without looking eye to eye with Rick.
He, in turn, also pulled his feet up on the couch and deftly intertwined them with Kate's to make sure she stayed on the couch. "You did call her!" he accused.
"No, I didn't!" She emphasized truthfully. "I texted her and she called me," Kate admitted.
"Why?" Rick asked with a boyish tone.
"Why isn't important right now. You're trying to get out of telling me the Boba Fett story, now come on, spill it," she insisted.
Rick stared at her. Her face was reddened with heat from embarrassment and he could only guess that the ladies' conversation had something to do with him…and the fact that Kate was now apparently kissing him…and playing footsie with him at that very moment.
"If I tell you my story, will you tell me yours?" Rick asked, earning an eye roll and tilted-head glare from Kate which made him smile. "What? I'm not asking to see you naked. I just wanna know what you asked Lanie that made her call."
"It's none of your business, Castle, now come on, tell me about the freakin' statue. Please tell me you don't have some kind of Boba Fett…fettish?"
"No!" Rick practically barked before she could finish the word.
"Tell me the story and I'll give you another kiss…" Kate attempted.
Rick crossed his arms over his chest, moved his bare toes toward Kate's and then covered them over with his much larger foot. "I think…" he watched as she moved her foot against his and they began a gentle battle of whose would end up on top, "you plan to give me more kisses even if I tell you nothing about that statue."
"You may be right," she conceded, "but I can always rethink that if it helps my strategy."
Rick laughed heartily until he realized that Kate was only offering him a little smile. "That would be mean," he informed her. "You really are a tease aren't you?"
"You may never know," Kate quickly responded with raised eyebrows and crossed her own arms across her chest as she found a way to interlock her toes with Rick's and gripped them somewhat forcefully.
"Toe strength…" Rick's eyes moved from their feet back to her face, "that's kinda sexy, you know…"
"Riiiick!" Kate whined but laughed at the same time.
"Fine!" He finally gave in, realizing this little sparring session would likely live in his heart forever. He stared at her as she smiled at him.
"What?" she wondered when he didn't say anything else.
"You're beautiful," he said softly and watched her blush return. It was true and he wasn't going to retract his words, not now. In turn, Kate didn't balk at them. Instead, she mouthed a simple 'thank you' and waited.
Rick took a deep breath, looked at their legs and feet which were now simply resting against each other, and let the comfort level sink into his heart. In the next instant he looked back at Kate.
"Picture if you will, a nine or ten year old Alexis. Her red hair is fixed in two buns on either side of her head…"
"Like Princess Leia from Star Wars?" Kate interjected and Castle nodded.
"Yes, like Princess Leia. She was the most adorable Leia ever and I'm not biased at all! She had a costume that Mother made for her."
Kate sat up a little straighter and gave Rick a somewhat serious look. "Martha makes costumes?"
"Oh yes - for others, apparently not for me however. Now do you want to hear this story or not?" Rick sighed dramatically.
"Wow, would not have guessed that," Kate commented. "Yes, yes, please continue!"
"It was just a few months after I had bought our first laser tag equipment and our weekly battles were fierce. You can guess I don't like to lose, even if I'm up against my daughter!"
"Castle, she was nine. Are you telling me you set out to beat your nine year old daughter?"
"Absolutely. I'm not a 'let her win' kind of dad. Not all the time at least." He nodded his head back and forth in a wishy washy fashion.
"Can I continue?" he waited until Kate nodded and zipped her lips.
"I was dressed as Darth Vader - a bought costume, thank you very much - and we were at a Comic Con. We were having a great time until Alexis saw a sign for light saber wars. She said I had to sign up for the laser tag game. I could not believe her…had we not watched the movies enough? I couldn't tell if she was pulling my leg or if she really didn't know the difference between laser tag and light sabers!" He took a second to catch his breath and noticed Kate's amused face.
"I tried to get her to go to a different exhibit, even enticed her with a My Little Pony private meet and greet but she was determined to make me do battle. I do not know where that stubbornness comes from in her!" This time Kate snorted and knocked her knee against his ankle which was somehow now, comfortably resting between her knees. He smiled at her.
"So you finally gave in?" Kate urged him to keep going.
"I told her it would be impossible for me to do battle in the Darth Vader costume. With the helmet on I had tunnel vision, you know, I couldn't see to the sides. And the cape was heavy and the boots, I just couldn't maneuver well enough to really go up against someone. I really don't know how Darth Vader did it. I really have a lot of respect for him, doing battle with the injuries that he had to overcome and then that massive wardrobe - that was a malfunction just waiting to happen…"
"Castle!" Kate laughed. "You're off topic, what happened?"
"Right," he gave a loud sigh, tilted his head back and forth as though he didn't really want to continue but then did. "So yeah, I signed up to do this light saber battle. Turns out it was a makeshift laser tag thing. They had designed the sabers so you had to push a button, like a gun trigger, when you were jabbing and slicing at your opponent. So you're fencing with laser loaded swords pretty much. That would've been fine, except Alexis didn't get into fencing until after this…"
"Rick…"
"Yeah, so there's no, like, age grouping for these games. So I end up going against this kid who is probably the same age as Alexis. He's 10, maybe 11, and he's dressed as Hans Solo. And you know what kind of character Solo is, right? All macho and scrappy and-"
"Oooo, a young Harrison Ford? There's your ruggedly handsome character, Castle!" Kate smirked at the thought of the actor in the role that Rick was referencing.
"I'm just as ruggedly handsome as he is. Aren't I?" he raised his eyebrows and leaned back against the couch cushions waiting for her to defy his statement. Before Kate could say anything he pointed at her. "Before you say a word, you remember who rescued you from your burning apartment and brought you here to care for you." he waited again.
Kate puckered her lips, blew a kiss in his direction and simply said, "Please, continue,"
Rick smiled. "That's what I thought," he grinned.
"Wait, wait!" Kate's eyes widened, "Please don't tell me you beat up a 10 year old in a light saber battle."
"Well, I tried," Rick again pouted. "Did I say I just couldn't be as agile with those Darth Vader boots on? I took the helmet off so I could see better, but I kept the cape on and between that and the boots I was weighed down so much that I couldn't get a good hit on the kid. He tore through me like Yoda versus a rabid Wookie."
Kate tried to hold back a laugh but when another snort snuck out Rick huffed at her. "I's not funny," his bottom lip protruded.
Kate couldn't help herself. Before she could even think about it, she was up on her knees crawling over his legs until she was straddling his thighs and leaning forward to try and kiss the pout off his face.
Rick's hands came up to her waist instinctively, holding her in place when she pressed her lips to his.
Only when her legs began to quiver did Kate actually think about her position over his body and the fact that her tongue had been the first one seeking to deepen this kiss. Her hands were…she pulled back, her forehead now melding to Rick's, and licked her lips as she felt his shoulders under her fingertips and realized his hands were supporting her weight so she wasn't actually laying on top of him. God, the man was an amazing kisser.
"So, um, where…where...where does the statue play into this story?" She dared to ask.
"What- what statue?" Castle husked beneath her. God, the things this woman could do with her tongue…
"Bo…Fett…the thing in your bathroom," Kate's tongue again darted out to wet her lips.
Castle blew a breath from his. "It was the prize for the saber war. Kid won the statue but his mom said he couldn't take it home. She told me since I was acting like a 10 year old I could bring it home. It was in Mother's room before she moved in with us. She wouldn't let me leave it there, says it terrifies her when she has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Careful of that, by the way, while you're here, she doesn't lock the door and you do not want to walk in on that."
Kate stopped breathing for a moment as his words sunk in. And then she laughed. Rick would classify it as a whole-hearted, loud guffaw if he was writing it into one of his books.
In the next moment Kate sank back on her haunches, sitting on Rick's thighs, laughter wracking her body. Rick joined her, both of them laughing until he sat up, wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him. Kate wrapped her arms around his neck and welcomed the feel of his breath on her neck, his large hands holding her against him.
"Rick?" She rested her head on his shoulder once they had both caught their breaths again.
"Hmmm?" He asked sincerely.
"Can I sleep with you while I'm staying here? At least in your bed with you, I mean…I'm, I'm not sure about…" She placed a soft kiss against the delicate skin next to his Adam's apple.
Rick sucked in a breath. He couldn't quite believe what she was asking, but he wouldn't deny her. Not when this simple act of holding each other felt like near perfection.
"I would like that very much," he answered with a kiss against her ear.
Kate slowly pulled herself out of his embrace and stood from the couch. She reached both hands toward him and helped him also stand up.
The two of them held hands as she led them toward his bedroom.
"So if I'm staying down here…" Kate turned around, looked at Rick and shrugged one shoulder with a nibble on her bottom lip, "I won't have to worry about Martha and an unlocked door. But we may need to put a sheet over Boba Fett…"
Rick gave her a defeated look disguised by a pleased smile that had no hope of subsiding.
"Get in the bed Beckett," he turned down his side of the covers and threw a pillow at her.
"Kay," she smiled back at him. "Hey, nothing on tomorrow's agenda…tomorrow is Saturday, right?" She asked as she climbed in and waited for him to go into the bathroom and change clothes.
"Yeah, Saturday…no," Rick answered as he brushed his teeth quickly. "Only thing on my agenda is to sleep all day."
He came back dressed in a t-shirt of his own and a pair of blue and black plaid pj bottoms. "Why?" He wondered as he climbed into bed and got comfortable.
He stretched his arm out and Kate immediately snuggled into his side, realizing again that they apparently fit quite perfectly together in this position.
"Oh, nothing for tomorrow," she yawned deeply and nuzzled her nose against his pectoral muscle and breathed in deeply. "But Sunday we'll have to get up. Dad wants us to meet him for brunch at 10."
Rick's eyes flew open but before he could even form a question he felt her head sink into his chest and knew she was already fast asleep. "G'night Kate," he placed a kiss in her hair and let his own eyes close.
Brunch with Jim Beckett on Sunday. That would be a Saturday conversation.

Afterthoughts... Hopefully this doesn't move things forward too quickly. As I was writing things just seemed to fall into place and come together. Thank you all for reading, for the many comments you've left and the encouragement to keep this one going!
P.S. -So apparently Castle premiered 15 years ago this month? I'm sure glad I found this fandom and was able to join in. Reading and writing Caskett fanfic is a real pleasure!
