Minor A/N Cont.: Okay, so! As of this moment, the count for the number of wives Danny has is at eighteen. Unless I miscounted. Let me know if I did in your reviews in addition to your overall thoughts about the chapter. And now, with that out of the way, let's get started on this new chapter, shall we? I'll go back and edit the previous chapters to reflect this new number of wives later. It might not be right away, so I ask that you all bear with me, please. Oh yeah, and before I forget, some of the characters mentioned in this chapter don't have actual physical descriptions on their wiki pages, so I'm mostly going off of descriptions I've seen written by other authors to describe those ones. Forgive me.
Meeting The Future Brides Part 1
With a nervous sigh, Danny adjusted his tie and looked himself over in his bedroom mirror. Tonight is the night that he is to meet his brides-to-be, and he wants to make a good first impression. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much to wear in terms of formal attire, so he was reusing the suit he wore for the dance at highschool in his freshman year. It was cleaned and pressed and Danny kept it in good condition after that night as he thought it would be wise to keep it around in case of a rainy day, but after spending so long fighting ghosts and protecting the town from rogue spirits, Danny has bulked up somewhat, so his suit is a little more form fitting than it used to be, with his dress shirt now outlining his developing pecs and abs. And unlike the jocks at school, these muscles are made for fighting and not showing off. And the suit's jacket was now unable to be buttoned closed.
"Well, it's not the most formal attire that I could wear, but it should be okay, I think. Hopefully I won't make a fool of myself in front of everyone." Danny said nervously as he remembered a certain incident involving his intangibility.
That was definitely up there as one of the most embarrassing moments in his young life.
Sighing, Danny shook his head and grabbed a brush as he attempted to make his hair more presentable. Fortunately, his injuries have mostly healed from Dash and his buddies on the school football team's ambush. Well, the visible injuries, at least. So, he won't have to put any concealer on to hide a black eye or anything like that. Danny still remembers how his parents had reacted to seeing him with those injuries when they got home in less time than Danny thought they would.
They had actually arrived in half an hour instead of a full one.
Even Jazz had come home early once she got the news.
But it's pretty safe to say that the elder Fenton sibling had some serious words for her parents and how irresponsible they had been. Not to mention keeping something like this from them, more specifically from Danny, for so many years. Ehh, but Danny didn't hold it against them. It had been over ten years since they won that gambling match and they were pretty drunk at the time. They might have been hoping that everyone would just forget. But no, because now it was time to meet Danny's… future brides. A term he still can't believe is actually being used in the same sentence as his name. He quickly applied a little bit of makeup to cover his remaining injuries as he wanted to look as presentable as possible, and then went downstairs to meet up with Miguel and his family.
"Lookin' sharp there, son." Jack said, wearing a tie in addition to his usual jumpsuit.
"Oh, my baby boy… you look so handsome. I just know those ladies are going to love you!" Maddie said with tears in her eyes as she hugged her son.
She just wasn't ready for either of her children to grow up yet. And even if it wouldn't happen for a few years yet, marriage is a big step in anybody's life! She just wished that he could have had a chance to find that special someone over time like she did when she and Jack became a couple in college.
Danny shuffled nervously and asked, "Do you really think so?".
Maddie dried her tears with a tissue and fixed her son's collar as she replied, "I know so. I mean, look at you. You're a handsome young man and we can all see that you've been bulking up nicely over time. Plus you're kind, honest, a gentleman, and you try to help out wherever you can. What's not to like?".
That made Danny feel a little more at ease.
Until Jack said, "Besides, I'm sure some of your future wives are just as uncomfortable with this whole marriage thing as you are.".
Danny narrowed his eyes and couldn't help but say, "Thanks a lot, Dad. I feel so much better now…".
"You're welcome!" Jack said, oblivious to his son's use of sarcasm.
Jazz rolled her eyes at her father's obliviousness and put a hand on her brother's shoulder.
"Oh, relax, little brother. I'm confident everything will go just fine. Just stay calm, be yourself, and don't take any of Dad's advice when it comes to romance." Jazz said, getting an indignant "Hey!" from Jack.
Meanwhile, Danny couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh and massage his temples. He could already feel a migraine starting to form.
'Just what the heck have I gotten myself into?' he thought to himself.
"Sorry to interrupt," said Miguel as he looked at his watch. "But we should really be going, now. We don't want to be late."
The Fentons turned to look at Miguel just in time to see him pull a key out of his pocket.
"Excuse me, Mister Miguel? But what's that key to? Your car?" Jazz asked.
Miguel just chuckled and said, "Please, young Jasmine, a car would be far too slow to get us where we're going. No, this key is something special. Just watch and learn.".
The Fentons watched as Miguel walked over to an older door. This particular door is one that the family had converted into a storage closet back when Danny and Jazz were still young children, and they always leave it unlocked. Mainly because Jack misplaced the key and they have, as of yet, been unable to find the darn thing. Anyway, Miguel inserted the key into the lock and gave it a turn as a faint light shined behind the door for just a brief moment. It disappeared so quickly that the family almost hadn't noticed it.
But when Miguel removed the key and opened the door, they were shocked to see that instead of leading to the inside of a storage closet like they thought it would, it instead led to a rather high-class looking foyer of sorts.
With an amused smile, Miguel said, "Well, what are you all waiting for, a formal invitation? Go on through.".
In a dazed silence, the Fentons walk through the door one at a time. Miguel just keeps smiling with a look that says, 'that never gets old' as he follows behind, closing the door behind him. It took a few minutes to snap out of their daze, but when they did, the Fentons were shocked to find themselves in the foyer of one of the fanciest hotels in the country.
"Well, I'm definitely underdressed for this kind of place." Jack said as he regained his bearings.
"Where are we?" asked Jazz.
"Why, we are in the foyer of the well-known Golden Eagle Hotel, young Jasmine. And I would like to apologize for surprising you all like that, but we didn't have much time and my key is the fastest method of transportation for long distances." Miguel explained.
Maddie looked around and couldn't help but feel out of place. The most opulence she had ever experienced was one of those fancy hotels from hers and Jack's trip to Vegas all those years ago, and even that pales in comparison to this place. Sure, she was wearing a lovely blue formal dress and a pearl necklace for this occasion, having taken some time to get ready when she and her husband returned home after getting that phone call, but she just felt like she didn't belong in a place as high-class as this.
"So, we're supposed to meet Danny's future brides here?" she asked.
"Indeed. This is the place." Miguel replied.
Jazz looked around and narrowed her eyes as she said, "I don't understand, this place is one of, if not the fanciest, hotel in the country. Shouldn't there be thousands of guests here?".
"Oh, well there's quite a simple explanation for that, young one. You see, the owner of this establishment is actually an old friend of mine and he owed me a favor. So, I requested that, for tonight, this hotel be used exclusively for this meeting." Miguel explained.
Which raised even more questions for the young woman who didn't want to take that answer at face value. She figured that Miguel must have serious dirt on the owner if he could convince him to let them use the hotel exclusively for this meeting. She resolved to deal with that later. But this was not over for her!
"Come along, now. It's time for young Daniel to meet his future brides." Miguel said as he led the group to a different room.
The Fentons followed Miguel up to the third floor of the hotel. Now, Jack may be obese, but he can handle going up a few flights of stairs, but being so heavy didn't make it any easier on him, and he had to sit down in one of the chairs to rest for a moment. Fortunately for him, Miguel allowed them to stop for about a minute so that Jack could catch his breath before they all continued on their way. Pretty soon, they came across a rather large set of double doors leading to the room where Danny's future brides awaited him.
Miguel had already informed Danny and his family that he had already visited the girls and their families a week prior to today, giving them enough time to mentally prepare themselves for this moment. Although, Danny was shocked when he learned that he and his future brides would be moving into his new mansion once introductions were said and done. It was all very overwhelming to the sixteen year old, and his brain tried desperately to process this new information as his father, once again, tried to catch his breath from walking up three whole flights of stairs.
"Stairs… you are… now and forever… my… mortal enemy!..." wheezed Jack as he tried to catch his breath.
Maddie mentally thought to herself that maybe it was time for her husband to start exercising more. It would help him in the long run.
'Well, Danny. You never had much luck with the ladies before. And now, you're going to eventually be married to twenty women.' he mentally said to himself before thinking, 'Man, this feels like something that would only happen in one of those harem animes that Tucker likes to watch in his spare time to find new ways of flirting with the girls at school. When is he ever going to learn that he'll never get a girlfriend like that? That kind of behavior repels girls, it doesn't attract them!'
"Daniel?"
Danny jumped as he was startled by Migel's voice.
"U-Uh, yes?" he asked.
"It is time to introduce yourself to your future brides." Miguel said.
Danny took a deep breath as the double doors opened and Danny saw his twenty future wives in front of him. He saw that some are teenagers around his age, maybe a few months to a year older, while some of them, to his surprise, are full-grown women. He steeled his nerves.
'Well, it's now or never.' he thought to himself as he walked in.
As politely as he could, Danny smiled and said, "Good evening, everyone. My name is Daniel James Fenton, but you all can call me Danny. I am the son of the man and woman who promised that I would take care of your daughters. Even though this engagement is new and, quite frankly, very strange, I will do everything in my power and beyond to keep my parents' promise to you all."
***...To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: Okay, I wanted to take the time to introduce half of Danny's brides in this chapter, but I figured, I'll save that for the next chapter so I can write some good dialogue between them all. This way it doesn't feel rushed or like a jumbled mess. That means that this particular chapter will be a three-parter. So, I hope that you all liked this chapter, and I'll see you next time, my hatchlings.
