An Idea I got in my head upon watching MissedThePart's "What if Harry Osborn was in Spider-Man: No Way Home?" and inspired by Bl4ckHunter's "You Came" and hunter41963801's "Second Chance to Save The Future".
Disclaimer: I do not own Spider-Man or The Marvel Cinematic Universe. They belong to Sony Pictures, Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige and Sam Raimi.
Osborn Mansion, New York City, Night
Harry Osborn was sitting in his chair, watching the news surrounding Spider-Man on MetroNews.
"We're now going to take you live to the scene with Jennifer Dugan. Jennifer?" The news anchor said.
"We'll run you about a 100 feet away now, Hal, and..." Dugan reported to the anchor before noticing something on the upper side of the building. "Wait! There seems to be some kind of activity in the web. It seems to be creating some kind of gigantic letter in it."
The camera then turned from Dugan to the upper front of the construction site, with the webs creating a message saying: "Spider-Man, Stop Us if You Can.". The camera then moved the attention to Mary Jane Watson, who has been held hostage inside her taxi, stuck by black web fluid.
"Apparently, Spider-Man's been challenged to some confrontation and that raises serious questions about what kind of chance stands against such overwhelm..."
Before he could learn about the situation, Harry grabbed the remote control and turned the TV off. He then sighed as he walked through the living room and contemplated about the recent events in his life. First, he lost his father, Norman, then his best friend, Peter, betrayed him and he messed up with his relationship with Mary Jane.
"Harry."
Harry knew that sound was very familiar to him. He then turned around and saw Peter, dressed up in his Spider-Man suit.
"I need your help." Peter told Harry. "Can't take them both. Not by myself."
Harry turned around and confronted Peter, revealing the scar that he received during his fight with symbiote Peter a few days ago.
"You don't deserve my help." Harry snarled at Peter, still bitter against him.
"Harry, she needs us." Peter pleaded.
"Get out." Harry coldly told Peter.
Seeing the anger on Harry's face, Peter nodded before leaving the scene and went to the construction site to fight Venom and Sandman and save Mary Jane, though this was a fight that couldn't handle it on his own. Harry stood still, bitterness bottling inside him, before he turned around and grabbed the shattered picture frame from the table and saw a photo of him with Peter and MJ. A tear began shedding from his left eye, as he came to the realization that he ruined his own life, that he was misguided.
Ever since the death of his father, Norman, Harry convinced himself that Spider-Man killed him. He was driven by anger, hatred and revenge. When Harry found out that Spider-Man was Peter, he was conflicted, unable to accept the fact that his best friend killed his own father. However, his desire for revenge blinded Harry, costing his friendship with Peter and his relationship with MJ.
"If I may, sir..." Harry turned around and saw his butler, Bernard, speaking to him in the room. "I loved your father, just as he loved you, but I have come to realize that he was not himself before he died. I think deep down, you knew this as well."
"He loved me though, Bernard..." Harry told Bernard.
"Yes, he did, but so do your friends. I know you're trying to honor your father's legacy, but in doing so, I fear you may go down the same path." Bernard reasoned.
Harry swallowed, unable to say anything, before turning to the photo again, seeing the picture of him, Peter and MJ.
"Your friends need you, Harry. You can still make things right." Bernard told Harry.
Harry knew Bernard was right; Harry was blinded by his own desire to please his father and he couldn't even see that alienated his own loved ones. He knew deep down his father killed himself, though he didn't want to admit it. He screwed things up and now was the time to set things right.
He knew what he had to do now. Peter and MJ were his friends. He would give his life for them.
Harry then headed to the Goblin lair, where he grabbed a handful of pumpkin bombs and prepared his own gadgets. He then put on his New Goblin suit and placed his sword on his back and grabbed his glider. As he left the lair, Harry landed on his glider and put on his retractable mask as he left the mansion, flying to the construction site to save his friends.
However, just as Harry flew, the world around him suddenly began shaking just as a glowing orange light appeared. Harry stopped and looked at the glowing light in the sky.
"What the hell..."
New York City, Daytime, Earth-199999
Harry stood still on his glider, still confused about what had just happened. He then looked around the city from his glider and saw that it was daytime. He could hear the traffic noise around the city. Harry couldn't understand what was going on. The last time he remembered, it was nighttime and he was heading to save Peter and MJ, and now, it was daytime. Something didn't feel right about this. He wondered what would happen to Peter now that he wasn't around to help him fight against Sandman and Venom.
"Where am I?"
Curious about the new surrounding, Harry flew on his glider and headed towards his destination. He needed to find some answers; where Peter was and what kind of place he ended up being.
Times Square
Flying around his glider, Harry arrived in Times Square, where he noticed some people looking at him, shocked to see someone flying on a glider. The bystanders had never seen something like this before. They witnessed aliens attacking the city and gods visiting earth, but they were awed by the mysterious glider man. Harry then retracted his mask and stared at the people, realizing that they never knew who he was. He couldn't know what to say about this situation.
"What's going on? Why is everyone is looking at me like this? Is it because of the glider?"
Just as Harry was trying to figure out this new place, he heard a broadcast on the top of a billboard. It was the Times Square Studios, which had a billboard that broadcasted the news run by the Daily Bugle, but it was a different Daily Bugle. Unlike the one where they came from, the Daily Bugle was a news media website that broadcasted controversial theories surrounding events.
Just as Harry saw the news, he quickly saw Spider-Man's photo, albeit wearing a different Spider-Man costume, thinking it was his Peter, while a noticing a mustached bald man, with soles of greying brown hair on his head, who was reporting the latest news surrounding the vigilante. He quickly figured out who that person was.
"Jameson?"
Harry knew J. Jonah Jameson in his world. He knew he was the head of the Daily Bugle who tried to paint Spider-Man as a criminal, but this Jameson was different and he looked like someone who couldn't trust his barber.
"...Following this incredible shocking revelation brought by yours truly, governments around the world had launched an investigation into the murderer called Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, aka the Spider Menace. But rest assured, dear viewers, we here at the Daily Bugle will stop at nothing until we uncovered the truth behind his web of lies..."
Harry couldn't believe his eyes. Spider-Man's identity had been revealed to the world. Last time Harry checked, Peter never revealed his own identity to the world or to anyone besides him and MJ back in his home universe. This completely caught him off guard. Harry knew he needed to find some answers and to get them, he needed to go back to his mansion and find Bernard.
"I need to go back home. Hope Bernard explains what's going on."
Harry then landed on his glider and put on his mask and flew away from the city, heading towards his family mansion. Little did he know, fate had other plans in store for him...
And Harry has now entered the MCU. That's the end of the first chapter. To be fair, I couldn't figure out a better reaction to Harry being in the MCU, but I hope I did my best. This will be a different take on the "What If Harry Osborn was in No Way Home" story and I will be adding another Raimiverse character into the mix: Black Cat (she was going to appear in Spider-Man 4, but she appeared in the Spider-Man 2 tie-in game).
So, what do you guys think about this? Is it bad? Is it good Should I continue or not?
For this story, I kept the deleted photo scene from Spider-Man 3's Director's Cut, because it symbolizes Harry's decision to save his friends better than what the actual film did. However, I did have Bernard encourage him to let go of his desire to satisfy his father and help his friends instead of telling him that Spider-Man killed his father, which made no sense to me.
Let me know your thoughts on this chapter and I hope you enjoyed it. Stay safe everyone and take care.
